I noticed something really REALLY cool about Legends arceus while looking up references, and it's so little, I don't know how many other folks have noticed it!!
The pokedex you get at the beginning of your journey;
Tumblr media
Perfect, crisp and brand new! So many pages to fill! Untouched by anyone ever, the first to ever exist! The original pokedex.
But at the end, with a completed pokedex;
Tumblr media
The title of the book is all ripped and damaged! It's been through so many surveys and treks out in hisui's wilderness! The edges of the blue cover are faded and dulling, maybe got wet a few times with run ins with outbreaks, being jostled around in a pack exploring around the region. The black binder holding it together after all this time is equally as banged up, probably barely keeping the stuffed pages inside safe and tucked away, but still doing its job.
This is the first ever pokedex, this is the one that began the understanding of pokemon as we know it, bringing humans and pokemon together as friends in the distant future. Before technology advanced and made the pokedex we were first introduced to in Kanto so many years ago.
It's falling apart and has been waterlogged a few times, it's recorded so much and survived raging lords, hordes or pokemon, alphas, an exile, gods of time and space, a banished deity, and faced almighty sinnoh.
And it was written, filled out, carried and protected all this time, by a kid who did their best to help the professor who first met them in Hisui.
And it survived.

Thinking about the fact that the river that goes through Jubilife is named the Milkiwa river.
You know, like "Milky way"
Because they're the Galaxy Team.

<<More Comics
I did this one a while back and forgot it. But basically, how do you expect a islander not to fish and well...you know, make themselves a good dinner.
Yes, it is canonically that they do eat pokemon in the pokemon universe.

Since the Galaxy Team/Survey Corp in Legends Arceus was later reinvisioned as Team Galactic in DP, I wonder if the same could be said of Team Flare, and they get an initial non-villainous incarnation too. (Like, maybe just a regular police force like Officer Jenny or whatever, since Team Flare has secret police traits like spying on Holocaster conversations, implied plainclothes agents, and control over the news media.)
Kinda expecting PLZA to be more of a modernization of a past version of Lumiose, akin to this:

The Pokemon Gen 8 protagonists wouldn’t get along
too tire to put into proper words but basically boils down to Galarian/Sword&Shield protagonist(s) have every thing in the story handed to them in a very literal sense through out the course of the story and that in turn warps their perspective and entitlement (as seen in the shift in dialogue from nervous/confident to cocky/entitled. In a weird way the almost swapped personality aspects with Hop, who started off the game very entitled and arrogant before being humbled/destroyed by Bede’s words before Stow-and-Side.
Meanwhile the Hisuian/Legends Arceus protagonists are forced to work for literally everything they own for the clothes off their back to the roof that houses them to basic medical necessities ONLY for it ALL to be taken away as soon as everything turns south due to their bosses poorly handled but understandable fear. Then when they FINALLY fix everything, they are stabbed in the back by the ONLY person who stood by them- no the only FRIEND they could trust because God decided the protagonist was their specialist little blorbo.
The Galarian Protagonist was celebrated as the sole hero and subsequently treated as near royalty whereas the Hisuian Protagonist was simply EXPECTED to fix everything with varying levels of apprecitation

Do you ever think one of those evil pokemon groups like team plasma or team rocket ever invaded a town, and rummaged through someone's house only to find that the owner of the house was doing some really messed up illegal shit. And it's like. They're a team grunt, they don't know how to deal with this horrific scene, so they go to the police in tears trying not to throw up at the mere mental image of what they just saw despite being part of the antagonistic group
or is that just me

more legends arceus playthrough thoughts:
adaman is very cool he’s my new skrunkly
i like the duality between the diamond and pearl clans, because they’re clearly both right and also because they have the ha ha funny names
still suspicious of volo how did he find me
kleavor scares me they’re really hyping this mf up as a noble
haven’t fainted yet, still excited to get jump scared by being spotted and the ominous red eye appearing followed by getting the people’s elbow from a geodude
these people are way too trusting. i’ve been here like four days and they’re already telling me to go investigate their almighty noble pokemon’s behavioral issues
diamond clan leader: cool blue guy who looks like a water gym leader
pearl clan leader: madoka magica?
are their clothes based off of legendaries thats funny. adaman’s reminds me of… kyogre i think. the blue one. and irida looks like groudon or whatever the name is but a lighter color
irida is an incredible name for someone who leads the pearl clan, i love silly gem based names. mmmm iridescence, my favorite kind of gem quality (not really but it’s close)
adaman is probably based off of adamantine, which is also an incredible naming device?? that’s basically the diamond equivalent of iridescence. did you know that the word diamond ultimately came from the word adamas? and diamond is the most well known adamantine substance? AND the orb used to summon dialga is called the adamant orb? i love figuring out possibilities for how a name ultimately came around.
just before i hit post i looked back at my switch and realized why this mfs hair looks so familiar. i played through all of the scarlet/violet dlc before i even got arceus and this mf looks like PERRIN!!! im sure this is well known but i didn’t know and now im proud for realizing it :D

"All you can do is stay true to your own values"
I really enjoy playing with short phrases with word art, and Cyllene's quote is perfect for quoting!
Materials: Crayola Marker. The paper is from a normal composition notebook.

For your Wanted AU: honestly even if someone got Dawn and Ingo to sit down and explain, the Diamond and Pearl clans sound like a cult. Like it sounds like the Pearl Clan and the Galaxy Team found them and forced them to 'earn their keep'. We know Hisui was dangerous and being a member of the Survey Corps or being a Warden was badass, but Dawn explaining the test she was forced to go through when she first arrived and Ingo explaining Warden duties prolly sounds super messed up.
When viewed through a modern lens that is pretty true. But if they were to sit down and explain honestly, they would preface the clans and the teams behavior with ‘this was 300+ years ago’.
Also that trial, while also viewed through a modern lens, sounds down right laughable. Like the great horror she had to face to earn her place in that team was to capture a Starly, a Spinx, and a Bidoof? The kind of team a talented ten year old could catch in an afternoon unsupervised? Oh wow, real challenging, sure. Modern people have no context what dealing with truly feral pokemon are like.
But, if someone were to take what they say out of context, and if Ingo and Akari were still on the run and being very guarded with what the might tell this nosy trainer whose weird Rotom just keeps staring at them, it absolutely would sound like a cult.
In this scenario I don’t think Ingo would name the Pearl Clan, (and might subtly button up his coat to hide is shirt lol), because he saw how people reacted to Akari claiming to be a part of the Galaxy Team. And they would have met Team Galactic by this point and that did not go well. Ingo does not know what became of the Pearl Clan but he does not wish to either tarnish their name or associate with their modern counterpart if the went the way of Team Galactic.
The questions asked would not be entirely directed at Ingo and generally be softballs, as the person is a kid and doesn’t even know what he should be asking, much to the suffering of his live audience. It’s only after the Stream ends and all the theorist can start picking apart the footage that the idea of them having been kept by a cult starts gaining traction. It would explain where Ingo has been and him suddenly running off with all these pokemon. He could have been brainwashed! And it would explain Akari’s odd behavior with the masks and how they have no idea who she is, she might have been born into this cult and had this ‘ initiation’ when she came of age!!
People who push against the theory would automatically point to Ingo coat and hat as proof that’s not true. Cultist as severe as what they’re describing wouldn’t allow him to keep anything from his former life, which the theorist would counter with pointing out how torn and ragged they now are. Perhaps it was damaged as punishment?? And if they escaped this cult of course he’s want to wear something from his former life no mater the shape it’s in!
This is another one of those theories that leaves Emmet feeling sick. He knows he needs to stop looking at these. He just wanted to watch the video of his brother and hear his voice, he didn’t expect the fall in the rabbit hold of horror that is his brother being taken by a cult.
Also, Team Galactic was already pretty culty. With they’re plans to bring about a ‘new world’ and how most their members were young 20 somethings who all dyed and style their hair to look the same. They had a charismatic terrorist leader and everything.
There could be speculation that wherever Akari and Ingo have been kept until now could have been another branch of Team Galactic that might have recently fallen apart. This idea is what gets the cops attention and causes them to start investigating and cracking down on the folks who are supporting Ingo and Akari as the New Galaxy Team.

Poison + Wrong Medicine + Fever= Delirious Patient
You know that scene in Star Trek were Sulu gets sick and chases his crewmates around with a sword scaring the ever-living sh*t out of every body? This is basically the start of that.
Tho Rei and Akari might want to watch out- sick or not Cilan’s got a pretty good fishing arm and is not afraid to use it.

Second Round even better than the first. Two batches coming your way. Finished up the designs for both the Pearl Clan and the Galaxy Team/Volo so I'm dumping them both into one post. I really like how the Pearl Clan came, or maybe that's just because there is less blue this time (seriously why is there so much blue in character's designs in this game). First off Pearl Clan:

Next up Galaxy Team + Volo in the bottom right:

Volo: Spoons are so expensive
Cyllene: Really?
Volo: It's like £9000 (I know that's not the currency for Pokémon but I'm British so I'll be using this) for one spoon.
Cyllene: WHERE ARE YOU GETTING SPOONS?
Akari: Steal them from Alakazam
Kamado: You are all safety hazards

Nobody talks about the Misfortune Sisters and honestly that’s just kind of tragic because during my play through of the game they, especially Charm, have been my favorite battles/interactions.
I’m sorry but Legends Arceus gave us the Misfortune Sisters and everyone sleeps on them.
You have Coin (likely ancestor of Team Galactic’s Saturn)-who is implied to have some sort of dispute that soured her disposition with her clan, causing her to leave and take up work with the Galaxy Team. Something soured her attitude towards people, where before she had “always been willing to help others, if begrudgingly” (Irida’s words). The incident also seemed to have left some doubts in her abilities as a trainer, her remarks when she loses a battle are rather self deprecating.
The there’s Clover, impatient, clever, and frankly kind of feral. She just up and left the Diamond Clan one day to join the Security Corps, only to quit that job to become a thief. Nobody in the Diamond Clan knew where she went and were still actively looking for her by the time Adaman bumped into them with Akari.
Charm is probably my favorite antagonist I’ve seen in a while. She is one of the two people in the game that is IMMEDIATELY sympathetic to Akari’s case instead of suspicious. This is a child being sent to the work most adults are to afraid too, without any training of her own. She see’s Akari’s kindness, and tell’s her off the bat that she should be careful. “Not everyone can afford that luxury.” She’s one of the original Galaxy Team members from Kanto and she went “f*** it, I’m done.”
I WISH PLA got a little more development time so that we could have seen a proper throw down between her and Kamado, as well as Coin and Clover with their former clan leaders.
I want to know so bad what made them leave their homes for a thief’s lifestyle. You can sort of piece together Coin’s situation, and how it possibly involves the warden of another poison-fighting type, but as for the others were left kind of clueless.
