“Amo la leggerezza
perché mi appartiene
non arranco mai
perché credo nella vita.
Non indietreggio mai
perché so abbassarmi.
Non temo perché
amo il vento prendermi a schiaffi.
Non aspetto
ma oso...”

character profile: gadiel mendoza
Elisa had made me for her purposes, a plaything, an instrument. I considered myself a man now, but I was never meant to be that real.
Unlike his comrades, Gadiel wasn't born anywhere. He was made by a roboticist named Elisa Mendoza, who subsequently mistreated him in so many ways we might as well not even try to count. He wasn't meant to be quite as sentient as he is, and upon fully "waking up," he escaped her for the stars.
After crashing into Giant's Tenement, he was pulled from the wreck by Leena May Loy and spent several days in the station's infirmary. He still bears scars on his cheek, his back, and his arm, as well as several soft black rubber plates, replacing synth-flesh that didn't seal back over. He fell in love with her a little there, but figuring out if and when to admit it has been an uphill battle, especially when he worries she'll have needs he won't satisfy for her.
Gadiel is one of Giant's Tenement's few freeloader residents. He's Leena's friend and sounding board for ideas, and sometimes he does small favors like passing along messages or checking up on unusual situations (he's rescued at least one cat from some high-flung rafters) but he doesn't really have a job and doesn't really get paid. Not that it matters, when most of the stuff on the station is free anyway unless it's on the market deck. Money is just about worthless in the badlands, where there is no standardized government, and therefore no standard coinage.
Gadiel is a quiet man, and would be even if it weren't for trauma. As an android, he doesn't sleep, which has led to a deep and intensive study of various forms of meditation. He may or may not be Buddhist, he just doesn't talk about it much. When he's neither meditating nor rescuing cats from ceiling beams (nor hanging out with Leena), he reads, tending to prefer graphic novels to standard ones, or goes swimming on the greenhouse deck. Don't worry—he's waterproof.

Whatever he expected—she certainly wasn’t it. Gadiel had envisioned someone who would do the job of marrying him without intruding into his life too much. After all, he had ambitions and this was only thrust on him because it was needed for their packs. The less time they spent fighting the greater the odds of their survival. Although he had no desire for this situation he understood the importance of it. And frankly, he had nothing to lose from it. He wasn’t losing his independence or being given to a complete stranger. His life would mostly go unchanged. Or at least, that’s what he had initially thought.
She seemed like she was going to be a handful and then some. Fiery. Stubborn. A fighter—not something he imagined in a mate, much less any average omega; his own beliefs are a bit outdated and bordering on prejudice. But he had to make this work. He hoped they could come to some form of agreement in spite of their rocky introduction. Gadiel is waiting when she is brought back to him. His own clothes are nice but plain, decorated lightly with his various rings and the dark material of his dress shirt. He can be content even if she was going to drive him crazy she would at least look pretty doing so. He extends a hand out to her, curiously, eyes daring her to refuse his hand.

Gadiel stares at the scene before him in bewilderment and dread. He had been opposed to the idea from the inception. It seemed to be a disastrously horrible idea to bring two people together who were from rival packs for the sake of ‘peace’ much less it be someone like him, with a reputation of disagreeableness; but unbeknownst to him they were not too different in that aspect. Truth be told, if he was a betting man he would certainly have his money on the insurmountable odds against them.
His nose wrinkles. It was a little beneath him to have to marry someone gagged and tied. Although he wasn’t pleased by the circumstances, Gadiel could follow through with it for the sake of the peace among their packs—but he wouldn’t be doing so with her bound and ruffled like a madwoman. He bends down to first move the gag taking the moment to take her in. Wild, certainly. The bright fire in her eyes was all too evident. ❝ Surely, you’ll behave if I free you. ❞ And he couldn’t be more wrong as he went to undo the ties to her hands.

Another old MH OC I made a few years back and decided to redraw, Gadiel Stein or Gade for short. Gadiel was created by my girl Giuliana in her late 40s as a gift to Victor's creations.
Gadiel is supposed to be Frankies very attractive older brother (though he is taken by a beautiful funnel Ghost) 💚🧟♂️

another random thought i had: i want to talk about just how lonely gadiel mendoza is. he's carrying a lot with him that we have not dug into yet, emotional pain and trauma and physical scars to match it. and he's not the only one in crater of grace who's carrying that but there's an experience that people like leena and torin and sasha just don't have and that's the experience of being made, instead of born. of carrying all that trauma and being in a community with people that are like you and are trying to heal like you are and are happy to help you and hold you and welcome you into that circle but those people bleed and you don't. those people hyperventilate when they panic and you forget to breathe because it's not something you need to do. you're with them but you're doing so much of it alone because you feel like you're less human than they are because they're organic and you aren't. so you'll always wonder if you're really real the same way they are. and so it will be a long, long time before you feel a part of humanity, no matter that even those who know the truth of your identity don't care and see you as a whole person regardless. gadiel is just so alone and my heart just aches for him.
