you know why destiel is a great ship? bc they never tried to get them together. if cas had been a woman they would've fucked in season 5 and we wouldn't have had this 12 year slow burn of epic pining between a faithless man and a fallen angel. it's So Good bc they're not trying to get them to date or kiss or fuck every other episode and yet as new episodes aired it always felt like those things were possible. it's the greatest queerbait ever but also not bc the angel is gay and he loves that man but also the queerbaiting actually made it great it made the pining last it leaned into the Almost of it all and never let the lovers get what they yearned for like. we will never see this kind of thing ever again on tv. 12 years? good luck with all these shows being canned after season 2 or pulled from streaming before it even airs. and queerbaiting? you wouldn't get away with that shit nowadays and that's good but also bad bc there's no slow burns anymore everyone gets together by episode 8 or season 2 and it's so damn obvious and also they're all young like teens and 20s you don't see much 30s/40s+ queer characters and love stories which is another win for spn
