I need to talk about OVA N'Doul for a moment because every time I see him I go feral and I need to get this out of my system.
Why did he have to look like that
Tumblr media
They had no right making him so attractive look at him
Tumblr media
WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE HAS A DIMPLE WHEN HE SMILES THAT'S ILLEGAL STOP
THAT WHOLE SPEECH? OH MY GOSH?? WHY WAS IT SO EMOTIONAL
"You are the first man I wish I could have seen the face of. I pray for your luck." PLEASE I'M CRYING ALL OVER AGAIN
AND JOTARO SAYING LATER THAT MAYBE THEY COULD HAVE BEEN FRIENDS IF THEY'D MET BEFORE DIO
AND JUST. WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN. -sobs-
The OVA crew have to all be N'Doul stans
There was literally no reason to write in those extra lines and scenes
Hell they never did it for any other villain character. They just have lines from the manga and that's it
And yet they went so hard for N'Doul
and for what
Ruined my life is what they did
I hate him

The story of Foo Fighters parallels The Little Mermaid in so many ways (the original version by Hans Christian Anderson, not disney)
FF's identity was so important to them, they feared losing that sentience and no longer existing
The mermaid was troubled by the thought of their kind turning into sea foam and simply ceasing to exist when they die
FF and the mermaid were turned human by someone powerful, and then later tasked to kill the ones they loved so they can keep their humanity, but they were unable to bring themselves to and died for it. However, in doing so, they realised they had a soul and they were real and they did exist and they were content with their fate
:') I'm gonna cry.

I was thinking about the joke people make about Speedwagon Foundation agents dying all the time, and started really thinking about it, and dangit they're all so incredibly brave.
At least in part 2 when they charged into battle against vampires, while still super dangerous, they had UV lights for protection.
But Stands, on the other hand... they are basically powerless. They can't see or touch the Stands, there is no way to fight against them unless you were really smart about it and caught the Users off guard, like Hayato did. Most of them don't have Stands, they know the Joestars' enemies have Stands they won't be able to fight against (and who even knows what those Stands can do, they could all be horribly killed or injured) and yet they keep helping them. They tracked down Dio's location and risked their lives by getting as close as they can to spy on him just to help the Joestars, and many have probably died for that, like the poor guy who spied on the 9 Glory Gods leaving Dio's manor.
They flew all the way to the desert to drop off a dog who might not even help them, and some extra cargo the Crusaders needed for the journey. They probably knew they could die before they even did. The Crusaders were basically at constant war. Enemy Stand Users could attack at any moment. They weren't idiots. And they still helped.
The Foundation ambulance was there once the battle was over, quick enough that Jotaro was able to bring Joseph back before he lost enough oxygen to be declared brain dead. That meant they came rushing into the battle not knowing if Jotaro won or not. If Dio had won, they'd probably be the next to die. But they were there. They were there for Joseph and Jotaro.
And they were the ones who helped with the process of reviving Joseph too, even though they were risking tampering with Dio's body. They might have died if Joseph was actually possessed and Jotaro could not protect them but they did it anyway, for the desperate boy who wanted to bring his grandpa back. And for the chance that it could actually happen.
That agent in part 4 was ready to throw hands with Akira when he was in the cabin. He could have run. He couldn't even see Red Hot Chilli Pepper, he could have died. But he kept trying to tell Okuyasu that Akira was the enemy Stand User and was going to kill Joseph. He was determined to keep Joseph safe.
They didn't get to do much in part 5 but that Arrow Hunt Jotaro and Polnareff went on... it was probably with the Foundation's aid too.
And you bet your ass they probably tried to forge a truce or alliance with Passione after Giorno took over.
I haven't had time to watch much of part 6 yet (I WILL SOON) but I know they helped a lot there too
Many of them probably don't personally know the Joestars. They didn't have to help them. But every single one of them do. Whether they do care for the family or they just want to keep the world safe and understand the Joestars are capable of fighting those battles, they risk their lives for all that. They're all normal humans plunged into Stand madness and they're all still ready to fight and be even the slightest bit useful. Every single one of them.
Very much like their own founder, who did the same for Jonathan Joestar so so long ago.

I always found it interesting that N'Doul, one of the most dangerous and ruthless villains in part 3, who brought down a helicopter and killed its pilots, and almost took out the entire Crusaders… went out of his way to avoid killing a dog.
Iggy was a threat. He knew where N'Doul was, and could have easily compromised his position, and N'Doul was fully aware of that. But as soon as he realised that Iggy did not want to involve himself in the fight, he left him alone.
Any other villain may have still gone for Iggy, and that’s very interesting to think about considering that Araki usually shows how evil and heartless a villain is by having them kill a dog.
Aside from Kars, N'Doul had been the only villain to ever spare a dog.
Even when he was targeting Jotaro in the air, he never once touched Iggy, even though logically, killing him would cause The Fool to drop Jotaro. It’s not like he didn’t know where Iggy was. He even seemed upset that out of everything Jotaro could have done, he decided to yeet the dog at him.
And it's really sad how that small act of mercy was his downfall.
Imagine an AU where Jotaro manages to stop N'Doul from killing himself in time and speak to him, hearing his story and how Dio was the only man to see worth in him, and how he fears being abandoned or killed by him.
Instead of trying to get information out of him, Jotaro wants to help him. He can see honour and selflessness in his opponent, and extends an olive branch, offering safety with the Foundation.
And it completely floors N'Doul! He’d envisioned Jotaro as some kind of self-righteous hero wanting to kill Dio in the name of glory and justice, and would see N'Doul as nothing more than an obstacle getting in the way of his quest. But here he was, seeing him as a person, trying to save him, and offer him sanctuary. Had he been wrong all this time?
Rather than take the safe way out, N'Doul grows intrigued with Jotaro and decides to join the Crusaders.
He gets to know all of them, bit by bit. How Jotaro is very much a softie, though he’s embarrassed to show it. How kind and accommodating and protective Joseph is, towards those he takes under his wing. How quick Polnareff jumps to his friends’ defense (and how quickly he becomes one of them). How friendly and easygoing Avdol is, despite the injuries they’d dealt each other.
(He apologises to Kakyoin, who understands him and understands his loneliness and wanting to be accepted by people who can acknowledge their worth)
Slowly surfacing from the dense fog of brainwashing Dio had enveloped him in (that he allowed Dio to envelop him in), realising he’d only been using him and never cared for him. And how he had been so desperate to believe he did, so much that he was willing to die for a man who would never utter his name again, nor remember his sacrifice.
Culminating into a showdown at the end with him facing Dio, now cherishing companionship over servitude to a tyrant.
He is no longer afraid to die at Dio’s hands.
But.
His friends are not about to let that happen.

Thinking about how some stands are perceivable to non stand users
But it’s kind of interesting that Geb is a visible stand (the Foundation agents could see him). There was no reason to do that, since the fight was very isolated and only the Crusaders were up against him.
It could just be irony, considering N'Doul is blind, and can’t see his stand, but everyone else can see it. But I think it goes a little deeper than that.
N'Doul very likely struggled with loneliness all his life, with his disability regarded with severe stigma, in the 80s, in Egypt. He would have been invisible to everyone around him.
And for Geb to be such a visible stand… it’s almost like he’s begging to be seen. For anyone to see him past his blindness and believe in his worth.
