Audio ON 🔊 Funny bit from Fran Healy's conversation with Daniel Brühl for the 2021 Edinburgh International Film Festival. This is Daniel elaborating on what it was like seeing himself on the big screen for the first time.
I love this interview. He's totally engaged and relaxed because he's mostly just shooting the shit with a friend. The convo is mostly centered around cinema and their relationship with it but through it, you get a glimpse of Daniel's life as a dad, as a celeb, and as a teenager. Even talks about his first date at one point. My favorite part though was when they discussed something I've always wondered about: being in (what turns out to be) an awful movie and having to promote it.
Here are excerpts from Daniel's candid answer: "That is the worst part. If you have to sell it. You have this rotten carpet. You have to sell this shit, it's terrible. It's soul-destroying. It's part of the game. You have to be professional. But God, I have sat in hotel rooms afterwards with maybe a good single malt whiskey and thinking, like, what the hell happened to this film? Why did I accept to do it in the first place? And then looking back, I still know in each case why." "...it's just part of the game. It's also the fascination because it's unpredictable. You never know if it's gonna work out or not, even if you have a good script, even if you have a talented filmmaker, so much can happen on the way. But God, yes, there are stinkers in my life." He never mentions the titles of course, but I bet The Face of an Angel was at the top of his mind 😅

Travis will release their 10th album this July! I had no idea! I'm super excited ❤️
Jfyi, I'm a huge Travis fan for like 23 years or so. Been listening to them so often so many times. Had a huge crush on Dougie as a young teenager lol, Fran Healy is one of the most wonderful song writers in the world etc etc. I know all of their songs, b-sides, they carried me through so many difficulties and are just wonderful!
LOVE them indefinitely 😍
So I got the mail and instantly threw my money at them with a pre-order.
Now I'm looking forward to July 🤩

2008 - an international terrorist group flees to vienna, where a joint venture between england, ireland, and austria attempts to capture its leader. former mi6 operative wesley martin is charged with acts of terror on english and irish soil, so the sas and arw lead the charge with austria’s unit waiting in the wings. martin flees the scene with the aid of a flashbang, and only price and hound are able to pursue. in the following altercation martin wounds price, attempts to flee once more, and is caught and killed by hound. hound then stitches price’s stomach closed in the field, saving his life but leaving a nasty scar. they part ways after. hound has a crush.

2021 - the situation in verdansk worsens. price keeps busy while hound undergoes intense physical therapy. they insist on helping sort through paperwork and translating intel after laswell suggests that an honorable discharge might be their best option.
2022 - hound is recovering after complications from a second surgery when general ghorbrani is assassinated and task force 141 is assigned to track down hassan zyani and several missing american bombs. they provide backup on comms as needed, filling in where laswell asks. not long after shadow company’s betrayal and the recovery of the stolen missiles in chicago, the 141 shifts its focus to makarov. hound is cleared for active duty and accompanies price on a black op in moscow. they interrogate one of makarov’s men. they plan to stage an ‘accident’, but when he threatens hound price shoots him point-blank. he and hound confess their feelings and sleep together for the first time. that christmas hound brings price home to their granddad, and soon after they convince him to get a flat together in kildare.
2023 - price is captured by makarov’s men after a mission goes sideways. hound and the rest of the 141 track him relentlessly, leading to his rescue from a not-so-abandoned gulag deep in the russian wilderness. hound tells price that they love him for the first time in the hospital afterwards. he doesn’t say it back until months later on a beautiful sunny day in a london park over leave, but they’ve both known all along.
2024 - price asks gaz to accompany him engagement ring shopping in london. after hours of searching they finally find the right one, and price proposes to hound just a few months later. gaz is asked to be the best man.
2025 - hound and price are married. they have a wonderful ceremony held in the church price grew up going to, though he’ll admit he never found much religion there until he saw hound walking towards him in white.

Hi my name is Alice Healy and I have short blonde hair that's more often than not full of mud and a lot of people tell me I look like my mother Fran (AN (Alice Note): if u don't know who she is then get da hell out of here!). I'm related to the Covenant Healys but I wish I wasn't because they hate cryptids. I'm a Priestess to the Aeslin mice and they love me. I'm also a cryptozoologist, and I live in Buckley Township, Michigan, where I go to high school (I'm sixteen). I'm a tomboy (in case you couldn't tell) and I wear mostly practical clothes. For example, today I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts with hiking boots. I was walking into the Galway Woods. My father Jonathan stared at me. I put up my middle finger at him.
"Miss Healy!" shouted a voice. I looked up. It was... Thomas Price!
"What's up, Mr. Price?" I asked.
"Nothing." he said shyly.
But then I heard some sort of creature in the woods and I had to go and follow it.

Matthew Goode at Dunhill Links 2023 - Part 2 - A bizarre case of mistaken identity
So the producers, caption writers, weatherman and presenter of Scottish TV News STV news all think that English actor Matthew Goode is the Scottish singer Fran Healy from the Scottish band Travis! Hoots mon!
The fact they don't look anything like each other and one has a Glaswegian accent and the other one a posh-ish English accent should perhaps have been a clue! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Happy Birthday Fran Healy of Scottish Band Travis.
Although born in Stafford, England, Healy grew up in Glasgow his parents’ hometown. His mother had moved back to Scotland after divorcing her husband, who was abusive (towards her); as a result of this, Healy continues to refuse any contact with his father. Healy has said that both his mother and his grandmother were major influences on him as a child. Healy attended Holyrood Secondary School in Glasgow.
Although as a young child at primary school, he had been awarded a book of Rabbie Burns poems and a certificate “For Outstanding Singing Abilities” after singing the old Scottish song “Westering Home” while dressed in a kilt, Healy showed no further interest in singing until his teens. His obsession in song writing began to take shape when he got his first guitar in 1986 at the age of 13, having seen Roy Orbison perform his hit Pretty Woman on The Last Resort With Jonathan Ross. First songs played on the guitar were old rock'n'roll numbers like Johnny B. Good and 3 Steps To Heaven by Eddie Cochran. His first complete song was written about the Headmaster of his school, Peter Mullen entitled “Mr. Mullen Blues”
He played in a couple of school bands until drummer of Glasgow band Glass Onion Neil Primrose asked if he would like to audition. This band would become Travis, named after the main character in Wim Wenders movie Paris, Texas.
Travis’ first single, “All I Want to Do Is Rock”, was written by Healy while on a visit to Millport on Greater Cumbrae, a small island in the Firth of Clyde. Going there with the sole intention of composing the best song he had ever written, Healy surprised even himself when the track was born. In spite of Healy’s success as a songwriter since, he is without formal musical training. As the band have risen to prominence, Healy has continued to be Travis’ main songwriter, as well as the band’s main spokesman and most recognisable member.
Healy’s songwriting has been praised by Paul McCartney, Elton John and Noel Gallagher. In 2005, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin called himself “a poor man’s Fran Healy”. In interviews, Healy has talked of being influenced by songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, Paul McCartney and Graham Nash (of the Hollies and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young fame). Healy has since played with both McCartney and Nash. Although Healy predominantly plays guitar, he has also been known to write and perform with piano.
Travis have twice been awarded British album of the year at the annual BRIT Awards, and is credited as having paved the way for British bands such as Coldplay and Keane. Travis have released nine studio albums, beginning with Good Feeling in 1997.
Fran is involved with the Save the Children Organization, for which he has just launched the biggest ever global campaign to help the ten million children who die unnecessarily each year survive, he has made visits to Sudan to highlight the plight of children in third world countries. He is a keen runner, having been a member of the Glasgow athletics club Bellahouston Harriers in his youth, and took part in the Berlin Relay Marathon in 2012.
I’ve chosen my favourite Travis song, Fran Healy wrote it while on holiday in Israel. He wanted to go somewhere sunny because in his hometown of Glasgow it rained all the time. In an interview at the Live 8 concert, he explained that he was spending a short holiday in the southern vacation city Eilat in the middle of the winter. The city is known for it’s hot weather even during the winter time, but surprisingly it began to rain for two days during his stay. The line “is it because I lied when I was 17 is about him lying to get a job in a nightclub as a teenager.
Why Does It Always Rain On Me was their first top ten hit and when Travis began to perform this song at the 1999 Glastonbury Festival, after being sunny for several hours, it began to rain exactly when the first line was sung and ended when they finished the song!
