DFW - Saturday 25/05/2019

We explored downtown Fort Worth; we visited Sundance Square (which gave me a French vibe) and wandered throught the streets without any specific directions, popping in some stores.

Quite fast, we found a western shop and I was trying on cowboy boots. I am totally in love with this area, the dancing, the rodeo, the atmosphere,... So I wanted my own, real, boots. I found a pair and I am totally in love with them!

Downtown Fort Worth hasn’t that much to offer, in my opinion, so after a couple of hours we got us some bikes and started driving towards The Stockyards. “The Fort Worth Stockyards now celebrates Fort Worth's long tradition as a part of the cattle industry and was listed on the National Register as a historical district in 1976. There is also an opry and a rodeo. Some volunteers still run the cattle drives through the stockyards, a practice developed in the late 19th century.”

Our trip along the Trinity River was beautiful and peaceful.

And hot.

When we finally arrived at the Stockyards, we needed to cool off and have a snack.

At 4pm we watched the cattle drive. It was a lot shorter than I thought it would be. The whole thing was over in 5 minutes. But still worth it! Some cowboys on horses guiding the longhorns through the streets. It was great! You can’t find something like this in Europe...

After the show, we did some sightseeing, enjoying the real old school western look of most of the buildings. Checked out a lot of the shops, looking for souveniers, boots, hats, belts,...

In the early evening we got to Dallas. We enjoyed a quiet night with some pizza, wine and Liefde voor Muziek.
