I know technically I’m now allowed in Gerudo Town despite being a voe but out of respect for their culture I still try to wear the most femme thing in my wardrobe

Okay so Sidon has a fiancée or whatever but he also
a) commissioned a statue of him and Link saving the domain together
b) designated that stature a cultural landmark and
c) has not shut up about Link to his fiancée
So if this is Nintendo trying to make Sidon not in love with Link………..not working

If I had a nickel for every time I did something to avoid the main quests only to have it turn out to be a main quest later I’d have two nickels which isn’t much but it’s weird that it happened twice

After a few days of doing practically nothing but playing Tears of the Kingdom, I can say that I’m enjoying myself and it’s a fun game
Here are some Thoughts about the beginning:
- The thing about sequel games is that they have to come up with a reason to take the MC from level 100 where they ended in the first game back to level 0 so the player can do the leveling bit all over again. Kingdom Hearts does those by putting Sora in a coma and into situations where he loses all his old abilities so he can train up new ones.
I really like TOTK’s solution: start Link at level 100. Have Ganondorf reset him back to level 0
It’s a clever way to excuse the level reset and show how much of a threat Ganondorf is.
And I really like how the game leans into it. When you get a new heart container, you’re not growing and getting stronger, the game literally says you’re just restoring what Ganondorf already took from you. Link doesn’t have all his powerful weapons because he’s been using the restored Master Sword, but it’s gone now so he has to start over. He doesn’t have his old Sheikah Slate apps because he upgraded to a Purrah Pad, and his new arm has new functions he has to learn.
Anyway I just think it’s neat.
- Tangentaly related, I think it’s neat that everyone knows who Link is.
The Zelda series doesn’t have that many direct sequels where you play as the same Link again — out of the 20 games in the series, only 5 are (Zelda II, Link’s Awakening, Majora’s Mask, Phantom Hourglass, and now Tears of the Kingdom). And most of those games have Link travel to another world, so even after saving Hyrule, no one knows who he is.
But in TOTK people know him. Some just know of him, some people he hasn’t met yet don’t know that he’s The Link, but everyone has heard of him, and can either clock him by his face or his skill with a blade (and probably the Master Sword if he still had it).
Idk I just think it’s nice. Most Zelda games are about the growth and journey to become the hero, so to have a Link that’s already so established is neat.
And yes, technically he was already The Hero in botw, but he’d been gone for 100 years. Aside from the Zoras and the Sheikahs no one knew who he was, those that knew about the hero 100 years ago assumed he’d died a long time ago, and most of what he’d been had faded to legend. This being known far and wide thing for the things he’s done to help people is different.
- Me desperately melding the Zonai stuff with the events of Skyward Sword: here’s how the timeline can still win

I was gonna make a comment about how if bokoblins can’t swim maybe piracy isn’t the best career path for them, but that hasn’t stopped half the cast of One Piece so

Damn I was so caught up in figuring out how to save Zelda from her fate I forgot that Ganondorf is her foil too
Anyway 10/10 final boss fight, was screaming at the tv, have not experienced a shot that cheap since Young Xeonhort rewound time when he was down to 1 hp to the beginning of the fight twice. Loved the last bit thought it was great. All the bits were great actually. A very steady fight
Anyway as far as where Tears of the Kingdom is in my overall Zelda ranking, I do like it more than Breath of the Wild. It takes the open word adventure aspects of BOTW and enhances them, while bringing a bit more of the structured story dungeons from the Classic Zelda Formula that were missing from that game into what is in fact a delightful romp
Whether I like it more than Majora’s Mask or even Ocarina of Time remains to be seen, but I did quite enjoy it. 15/10 would play again
*pulls out cork board labeled Zelda Timeline* Now to fit everything together

So in TOTK today I noticed that Link in most outfits wears a pair of small turquoise hoop earrings. Exceptions for this (outside of the hats that cover his ears and therefore I cannot see) are the desert voe outfit and the ceremonial outfits (ember, frostbite, and charged), because they come with their own special earrings
(And the accessories, since, well, Link is wearing the accessory instead)
The one (1) hat where he’s not wearing earrings is the cap of the wind when he’s cosplaying wind waker Link
Thing is, all the other other Link outfits he still wears his earrings. I know Wind Waker Link never had pierced ears while Time, Twilight, and Sky Link did, but I don’t think the OG Link did either, and yet TOTK Link still wears earrings while wearing the cap of the hero.
Idk I just think it’s strange that he only goes earringless with Wind Waker Link’s outfit

Okay so after *checks watch* like 25 years we have a strong contender for Creepiest Zelda Moment up against playing through Ocarina of Time’s Shadow Temple in the basement Halloween night: Crawling through the Hyrule Caste Depths whilst midnight fast approaches

So I figured out that you can one hit ko the tree things with bomb arrows
(but you do have to be quick about it, because they move quickly and there’s a non 0 chance of them blowing up in your face)
Anyway this makes the one hit ko elemental scale:
Fire -> Ice
Ice -> Fire
Bombs -> Trees
Still haven’t found a ohko for lightening but I’ll keep trying

Me playing Majora’s Mask in 2000: It seems pretty unrealistic that there’d be a contingent of people insisting the Carnival goes on as planned despite how obvious it is that the moon is falling

Link in Majora’s Mask is fun because it’s like “I am the Hero of Time and with the Ocarina of Time I can bend manipulate time to my will And I will use these powers to commit bank fraud and cheat at the lottery”
