kintsugi. the japanese art of repairing shattered pottery. not that fushiguro tōji would have ever considered comparing himself to an ancient bowl turned fragmented. not that he would have ever considered being so abstract and poetic, even in the safeguarded confinements of his own mind. but there he was, his gaze licking away at the gold seeping from the cracks of a fine piece put together once more. he couldn't help himself but conclude that he, at some point, must have been a broken bowl with its pieces scattered about, and that you must have been the gold mending them back into a singularity, because in that moment, he felt oddly whole.
