Take your mermaid to work day
@jeffgoldblumsmulletinthe90s   I blame you for this 900 word continuation of the burning boats are gone and lost that was never supposed to happen, but oh well...
(there’s a read more under the asterisk!)
***
The look on Percy’s face as she leads Credence through the halls of her former workplace, tells her everything she needs to know about how much she misses her career.  Percy can laugh and joke about freedom from the stress as much as she wants, but Credence can tell it’s a front.  She’s missed being here.
Percy consults for her government.  It isn’t a full time job.  Even she admits she’s not ready to reassume the mantle of her old position, but it keeps her busy while Credence is away.  There’s only so much time she can bear to spend with two legs, and she’d rather most of it be while she’s spread out on Percy’s bed.
Today is an exception.  One of Percy’s former co-workers had declared today an unofficial bring your children to work day.  However, since many in the auror department don’t have children, it has quickly transformed into a bring your significant other to work day.
There are so many beautiful and comely women and men walking about the department, bringing pride to their partners.
Then there’s Credence, with her long, seaweed-like hair.  While underwater, it might look beautiful, but she finds that once she’s on land, it does what seaweed does once exposed to the sun—it dries out.  She had to use a whole bottle of tonic on it in the morning, just to calm the flyaways, let alone to style it to a semblance of propriety.
Other women wear their hair in beautiful bobs, to suit the style of the time.  There is so much Credence would do for Percy—murder being something she has considered after hearing about one such Grindelwald—but no woman could ever convince her to cut her hair.
At least Percy has bought her a lovely dress.  It’s nothing like her own clothing—garments she stitched herself from treasures lost at sea, and a shark she hunted with her beloved sister at her side—but it’s still nice.  It flows around her ankles as she walks in the kitten heels she has become acclimated to, reminding her of her own flowing black tail.
“Direct— I mean, Miss Graves!”  A woman with kind, brown eyes jumps up from behind a desk heavy with paperwork.  She nearly trips over her feet, cascading into Percy, but she manages to grab her by the arms at the last moment, steadying her.
“Tina,”  Percy smiles,  “How are you?”
The woman named Tina grins bashfully, looking down at her shuffling feet.  “Keeping busy, and always having a sharp eye on the lookout, Miss Graves, as you taught me.”
Percy nods her head.  “Very good, Tina.”  She looks so proud, and Tina seems to glow under the praise.  Her eyes flicker over to Credence, and once they do, they never leave.
“Forgive me,”  Tina holds out her hand, her face reddening at an alarming pace,  “I have not introduced myself.  I’m Porpentina Goldstein, but you can call me Tina.”  She gulps.  “You are?”
“Credence,”  she says in answer, taking Tina’s hand and shaking it firmly, as Percy taught her.  She smiles winningly.  Anyone who inspires pride in Percy, is deserving of her friendship.  Tina swallows heavily, and a bead of sweat flows down her forehead, perhaps because it’s very hot in here?  Does she need to sit down?  Credence read in one of the books Percy bought for her that human women have a tendency towards fainting.
Tina’s eyes flicker between Percy and her.  “You’re the Direct— excuse me, Miss Graves’ daughter?”
“She’s my partner, Tina.”  Percy says, rolling her eyes.  They’re used to it, most of their neighbours also think they’re related, it saves them the hassle of trying to explain exactly what they are to each other.  Humans are strange creatures.  Percy doesn’t want her telling anyone that they’re lovers, even though they’re not exactly subtle in their affections towards one another.
If at all possible, Tina turns an even more violent shade of red.  Credence really thinks she should sit back down.
“We’ll let you get back to work,”  Percy says, pulling her away from Tina.
“It was nice meeting you,”  Credence calls over her shoulder as she is marched away.
Right before they turn the corner, Credence sees Tina bend over dramatically to thump her head against her desk, she does it again, then again, before she disappears from their view.
Percy chuckles, wrapping an arm around Credence’s waist.  She pulls her close, then presses a kiss to her temple.  “I’m soon going to have to fend off your suitors with a stick if you keep this up.”
Credence tilts her head to the side, confused.  “Keep what up?”
“Your ethereal beauty.  It cannot be helped that you turn heads, Credence.”
Credence ducks her head, grinning.  “You have many good qualities too, Percy.”
Percy smiles, kissing her cheek this time.  “Pray tell.”
Credence hums, tapping her finger against her chin, remembering what Percy had done for her that morning at the breakfast table.  “No one eats me out like you do.”
A loud crash sounds from behind them, and they whirl around to see a woman with a curly, blonde bob, and blue eyes alight with mirth, a hand over her mouth.  A delighted giggle flows like music out from behind that hand.  A stack of folders lie at her feet, but with a wave of her wand, she sweeps them up into her arms.  She winks, then spins on her heels, scurrying off.
Percy stares after her, eyes wide.  It’s only a few moments later that Percy seems to snap out of her daze.  She cups her hands to her mouth and shouts,  “You come back here, Queenie Goldstein!”

I'm really sick of this person in the Gradence tag. I tried to be nice earlier but they keep replying like this and seriously, the prompt has NOTHING to do with the characters so why can't they just mutilate a het pairing into this boring mess and send it into that tag instead? /3a314a7af261f0b3

“Lol”
gradence isn’t my cup of tea but i have no idea what this prompt is trying to do with the characters either anon. someone’s obviously just looking for a random het pairing for what i can only assume is a self-insert fantasy.
when will people learn that taking a gay ship and “gender-bending” one character is homophobic?

Rules: tag the person who tagged you, always post the rules, answer the questions, and add the date!
counting my two current fandoms, Teen Wolf and Fantastic Beasts
What are your five most popular works? (starting with the most kudos)
1.  I want you (no, I mean your art):  (Sterek, 2815 kudos)
2.  Baby, you should stick around:   (Sterek, 1904 k)
3.  It's a mad, mad world:   (Sterek, 1516 k)
4.  Dude, is porn a taxable income?:   (Sterek, 1457 k)
5.  Bruises and Hickies, Stitches and Scars:   (Sterek, 1373 k)
What are your five least popular works? (starting with the least kudos)
1.  the burning boats are gone and lost:  (fem!Gradence, 33 kudos)
2.  He's not a white rabbit:   (Sterek, 58 k)
3.  a modern woman:  (fem!Gradence, 85 k)
4.  Fixin' to Thrill:  (Sterek, 96 k)
5.  Staring into the muzzle blast:  (Sterek, 105 k)
Are you surprised? Why?
Not really, the ones with the most kudos are generally my oldest and longest Sterek fics, also porn star AUs were very popular when I was writing them.  The ones with the least are incomplete Sterek fics, and fem!Gradence (which attracted way more readership than expected for a largely m/m ship)
Optional: If you want to calculate this, what are your works’ average number of notes?
The average kudos count is 482/fic, hits are 6534/fic
Today’s date, so you can see how your results might change if you do this again in a year.

I’m so glad to see Bruises and Hickies on there. I read all of the other top five (as well as the fem!Gradence), but it’s still my favourite, and probs one of my fave TW fics ever. I really hope “As Fire To The Sun” does good too, bc damn I love that fic (I’m Shigure, the person that helped you with your French in the last chapters and just gushed abt the fic haha).
lol, I figured, your icon is the same!  Thanks for the French again, I thought I was pretty good at it, turns out all my quebecois friends were humoring me...  Also one of your fave teen wolf fics!  I’m honored!  there’s so much swearing in it, so much...

The female Merrows are very beautiful and, like other mermaids, appear before storms as an omen, but they are gentle by nature and often fall in love with mortal fishermen…
—Brian Froud and Alan Lee, Faeries
the burning boats are gone and lost
Before she knows it, a stinging slash has her gripping her arm to her chest, a trickle of blood trailing down her skin, dripping to the sand below.  The woman looks at her with eyes of the darkest black, mistrust in their depths.  Her nails, Merlin… not her nails, her claws are like knives, curled and vicious.
Her heart stops in her chest.  “You needn't fear me,”  Graves raises her palms, unsure of whether this creature understands what she’s saying, “I won’t hurt you.”
Or the one where Graves lives by the ocean, recovering after Grindelwald turned her life upside down.  One day she finds a woman with a mysterious past, searching desperately for something that belongs to her.
