Thinking about Falx's early Pact days - she wasn't THE commander in the core campaign, and that relative anonymity was (and continues to be) her preferred way of operating. Hell, her first 'public' action that became widely known was the whole thing with Trahearne at the end of HoT. >>
During the Zhaitan campaign, she's very much still in the "needs a rigid structure to have a sense of purpose in her life" phase after essentially being kicked from the Legions. So she throws her all into being the model Pact soldier and eventually works her way up to a command position leading a small special ops group.
Now why the hell would the Pact need covert ops beyond whatever the Order of Whispers does on its own prerogative? It's not like the mission statement of "save the world from dragons" needs to be kept out of the public eye.
But. They are dealing with an enemy who incorporates your dead into its army, thusly gaining access to whatever the departed knew. That's...problematic when you don't want said dragon to learn about your operations. Hence some of the more sensitive task assignments going to certain Pact squads with a paramount focus on secrecy and info on a need-to-know-basis. The dragon of death can't learn anything from the dead if the dead don't know anything. :>

I've barely started on that VA claim thing, but Falx already had a VA in Cynthia Kaye McWilliams (specifically as Senna from LoL). And after messing around in Audacity, sliding the pitch down a bit is pretty spot on! Now if I can just find a way to add a filter that replicates what they do in-game for charr馃

Something a little different! I needed to throw together reference for that jade tech prosthetic, and I ended up veering a little off course.
So back during All or Nothing, Falx's right lower leg ended up encased in Brand crystal and had to be amputated after the fact. She was fitted quickly with (what was meant to be) a temporary prosthetic by some of the Iron Legion troops on-site in the aftermath, but she's a stubborn idiot who doesn't know when to stop. Hence, the much comfier and lightweight upgrade didn't happen until EoD when Joon was appalled by what she was running around with.
edit: hi yeah, forgot to add where Bangar shot her through her upper left pectoral :B

I've been trying to figure out how I want "Vlast is actually NOT dead, thanks" to function in Falx's timeline, and I think I've got it?
He still dies in PoF, and he ends up in the Domain of the Lost (or elsewhere in the Mists, undecided there). It's where Glint ended up following her death, so it'd follow suit for her scions.
Falx finds him on her Balthazar-induced trip to the Mists. There's an immediate mutual understanding. They're both tired, and there's a certain solace in death. Rest, at least. Freedom from a burden neither of them chose.
He never had a Champion, and she's not a Chosen One. And yet, there's purpose of their own in choosing to go on. Doing the right thing on their own terms, prophecies and gods and destinies be damned.
The thing with the Eater of Souls still happens, and that's a lot of magic that gets released. More than enough for just one person to come back with.
Except Vlast doesn't have a body to come back to.
Falx is no stranger to having a passenger in her head, and yeah, it's pretty crowded up there with the whole ghost situation. But there's no time for a grander plan. She comes back with a draconic hitchhiker.
It's meant to be temporary, and she's looking a little draconic throughout this affair. At least the yellow crystals bring out her eyes. This lasts through the rest of PoF to a good chunk of S4 until they finally figure something out.
How is a dragon dispossessed of a body supposed to get one?
Make one, of course. And with the Forged and Exalted, the knowledge of how to imbue a constructed body with a soul is readily available.
It takes some convincing. Zafirah barely trusts them, and suddenly they want her to rally some of the most zealous Zaishen who worked with the Forged? But she feels a hint of her god in Aurene, and the scion's scared - terrified really - of the burden placed on her shoulders. She may as well be able to face it with her brother.
It's not the same as before. Physical sensations are muted, and the wind under his wings no longer sings to him quite so strongly. But this body of metal and crystal is solid, well-crafted, and will see him through. It's a second chance, and he'll be damned if he wastes it.
It's his chance - not Glint's, not the Forgottens'. His.

Okay, so it's 7/11 where I'm at, but shhh. I'm still in time for Day 1 of #gw2creatorweek. Finished piece from last week of Falx with Vlast which happens to work really well for the theme of 'dragon.' Details to follow, but some shit went down in the Domain of the Lost ending with Falx as Vlast's champion.
