In my foth dragon au it's common for English people to get their dragons from one of the worshipful company of breeders associations, but it is considered natural that the high-class families would breed the dragons of their parents and give the offspring to their children. Keith didn't think anything of it when he met Arthur at one of the breeders. It was only when Francis received his dragon from the mating of his mother dragon and the Earl of Stowe's that it actually hurt.

#meanwhile as is traditional #ewen met anne his great drake #on the slopes of ben nevis #as the only remaining patches of black heather are on the tallest mountains #and so are the only places the great drakes still live #as clan leader and master of all the drakes on ben nevis lochiel invited ewen #and they had to sit around for like three days until the right baby dragon came and found them and bonded with ewen #meanwhile the tenant highlanders etc usually have lesser drakes #those from the valleys and such who grew up without the black heather and so cannot breathe fire #look ive started thinking about this au way too much so im going not shut up about it #flight of the dragon au #im gonna tag it as that bc im not gling to be cringe in the foth tag haha #also lowlander dragons are called mudlarkers by the highlanders (derogatory)#but are also referred to as 'little bakers' because they do get quite hot in the summer #and then you can use their bellies to bake dough on #the drakes themselves have helped the highlanders survive the harsh winters #by curling around their humans and warming them as they are hot even in the midwinter #blah blah blah anyway i have never read a temeraire so i dont know if im accidentally copying anything from thete #if so i apologise
