Very few adults were ever seen in Akira's good graces. Strangers aside, most others either took advantage of the boy's natural kindness or used his own current status against himself. Even with a strong support system here in Shibuya, low-lifes and greedy grown-ups were plenty. Blackmail against his probation came up not just once or twice when confronting assholes out to target his friends.

They couldn't be trusted. None of their own family members had the gall to fess up or take responsibility either. That's certainly the case for his own parents as well.

However, Dr. Maruki was a special case. Aside from his status and position at Shujin, Akira grew fond of his frequent visits. Of course at first he was hesitant on opening up even a sliver of his past experiences to an adult. A therapist, no less. As if he needed any help to that degree...

Yet strangely he found a certain enjoyment whenever free time opened up in Akira's favor. Someone who's trained to hold the middle ground, a person with no prior bias and no judgement against his clients, and who's job was to provide assistance for further self-growth. It was...freeing. The free snacks were enticing too, not that he'd admit it out loud. And as a token of Maruki's own gratitude, he offered Akira a free lunch.

In turn, Akira could not act upon that kindness with an offer of his own. It'd be rude!

"Thank you, Maruki-san." A smile settled in comfortably once the proposal was accepted. "I can say with certainty the sushi is very good. I've already visited there once or twice before with my guardian and my friends. I think you'll enjoy the variety of options and chef specialties they have."

Just...don't look at the prices too much...

“ @eudaiman, I didn't expect you here ! ” Not like it was so rare to come across someone from Shujin in Central Street — especially after school hours — but regardless, it was always odd and somewhat different when stumbling across a teacher ( or in Maruki's case, the school counselor ) outside of the school.

“ I didn't expect you to come all the way here just to offer me another session. ” For a moment, she appeared serious — before cracking a smile, and adding a “ Just kidding ” to reassure the other she was merely jesting. Coming to a halt next to him, she'd curiously glanced over to see what he was currently looking at. “ Coming to fill up your supply of snacks ?  ” A mere guess. “ I didn't expect you'd be around here this soon after school. No students that came by for a session, I guess ?  ”

31. Are there any forms that you dislike or refuse to take? I was always adverse to humans but that solidified when I took it exactly once. Never again. I will also, of course, refuse to take anything that makes Em uncomfortable.

32. If you took a fictional form, what would it be? I have many, spanning across many fandoms and mythologies

33. Have you ever fronted or attempted to front? Absolutely not. It’s always been a firm boundary, since Em is one of the hosts of a System. But I did it once on accident. Not even a full front, just taking an arm to bring her coffee. It was startling and disorienting and neither of us have any wish for it. 

34. Do you have any regrets? Doesn’t everyone?

35. Do you love your person? What a stupid question, of course I do.

36. Have you ever felt a close bond to another human/daemon/headmate? I love Cayde and Kit of The Crew fiercely. 

37. What are you afraid of? Unfulfilled promises

38. Does your human have a headspace? What does it look like? That is a complicated and detailed question. Very, very simply, there are two main headspaces for Em. 1. The System headspace: This is shared by everyone. It’s a clearing in a dense forest with everyone having their own dwellings. There are other clearings in the forest to explore 2. And Imperial-Class Star Destroyer that we haven’t really explored. Em likes the four main rooms best, each showcasing a different season of the year. They truly are quite lovely.

39. Which form best describes YOUR personality? A yellow-throated marten, my settled form

40. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? Exactly where I am. Hopefully a little wiser.
