THALLI: From what you told me, Esmeralda is a lot like Isamar. Interestingly enough, she's employed her to help with her garden and she has a real knack for it. What I'm trying to say is, Es is welcome to stay here as long as she likes, regardless of what happens with everything else.
VETTE: Yeah? Thanks - that's good to know.
LUPE: Oh my god - could you imagine all of us living here??
JOCELYN: That would be amazing! We could all be cowgirls!

CORA: Maybe we just take it one day at a time for now, huh?

ESMERALDA: I wish I could be cool like you.
JUDE: (Laughs) I think you may be the first person who ever called me cool.
ESMERALDA: You're cool to me - you're beautiful, you get to do a job you love and make good money doing it. Plus, you get to have your dream life with your girl.
JUDE: It's a day-to-day process, Es. As for you, what would you love to do for work? I can always help you to figure out how to turn it into a living.
ESMERALDA: Honestly? I'm not really good at anything.
JUDE: Don't say that. That's not true.
ESMERALDA: That's what my aunts and cousins used to say; they made fun of me and called me dumb. That's why our parents cut ties and moved us to Copperdale.
JUDE: Es... have you ever been tested for dyslexia or any other learning disabilities?
ESMERALDA: No, my parents said they didn't want people in our business. And Vette was too busy trying to work and take care of me after they passed.
JUDE: Ah, yes. Family shame. That old chestnut.
ESMERALDA: Honestly, I tried not to think about it over the years. I just did what I could to get by. But I'm not a kid anymore; I gotta figure it out.
