i meet an engage character —> i think i like them —> it turns out the quirk i thought was charming is more or less all there is to their character —> repeat

obviously 3h characters are just plain deeper and better written but i feel like i could forgive the shallowness more readily if engage characters felt like they were part of the story. i think that’s what really gets me. in 3h characters always have something to say about whatever is going on in the current events of the game, how it effects them, their paralogues happen at relevant points in the story, they’re all deeply entwined with the world. engage characters just feel glued on top of it. with the exception of the royals, but even then their supports with the other characters suffer because of it. i understand that this is partly a consequence of enabling people to play on classic but. 3h found a way around that! a great one!

i love when i see a hit chance in the 40s and think “eh it’ll probably hit” when it literally. probably won’t.

emblem byleth should randomly switch between mbyleth and fbyleth like the three houses bracelet

ITS OVER. interesting that they tried for like. a little bit of sombron tragic backstory right at the very end. it would have been nice if some of that had come a little earlier or been less half hearted.

overall I had a pretty ok time with the game. alear is a babygirl of the first order for sure. i do not think I’ll play it again but I’m glad I did.

why is this killing me

i gave gregory the pact ring 🥺🥺🥺 very cute. one of the very few things this game has over 3h is that you can get your S support before the end of the game and benefit from it in battle!! i appreciate that it’s not gender locked too even if it’s at the cost of explicit romance. the vibes were there in this one at least.

the music in roy’s paralogue goes SO fuckin hard

the emblem of the instructor is so lame like. was there no better name than that? emblem of ashes. emblem of the crest of flames. even if it had to be teaching related why not like emblem of wisdom or guidance or something idk
