⋆ * ✰ — ( odeya rush. twenty-one. she/her. cisfemale. ). i hope that eliana abraham isn’t late for their shift again. i swear to god they can be so impetuous & stubborn sometimes. then again i know joe hired them two of years ago because they’re charismatic & nurturing, whatever. every time they’re working they always want to play break my stride by matthew wilder, it kinda drives me up the wall. they’re studying musical theatre & composition at northview university. i think they ended up working at empire because she wanted to pay for school but still be around music. they remind me so much of marked up scripts, the third iced coffee of the day, heart-shaped sunglasses, the sun shining through sheer white curtains.

eliana was born and raised in derby. like i kid you not this child has not lived anywhere else so friends at the store that she’s known since diapers?? its more likely than you think (pls give me that pls)
her father, daniel is a fairly well known lawyer in the city and her mother, ruth is a writer. that being said money wasn’t necessarily an issue for the abraham family, but their children also weren’t spoiled. daniel abraham would be damned if he ever discovered he had raised brats.so like basically they HAD money but didn’t like to flaunt it ya know
as much as it pains me to not have any tragedy eliana grew up in a pretty standard childhood???? raised by nice jewish parents who took care of their kids as much as they could, good education, good grades. nothing traumatic to report rip
BUT lemme tell you eliana wasn’t a standard child o no
first off she was always a tiny lil ball of energy. she was always running around and talking anyone’s ear off that gave her the chance and it was either adorable or you wanted to punch her in the face
hc that she was the actual worst in preschool??? she prob never took naps and was prob too loud oops
beginning in her childhood years, ellie showed a passion for two things- theatre and music, specifically writing. she participated in every school and community theatre production she could, and spent any free time she had writing a melody, a song lyric, anything that popped into her head.
it was her aunt that first encouraged her to make a career out of her passions, and she began pushing harder with her writing and performing.
she spent most weekends at the piano during her junior and senior year.
she graduated high school with plans of moving to new york city to pursue a career in musical theatre, hoping to be able to perform and continue to write her own songs.
her biggest dream is to write a full musical and it’s in the works currently (she’s also writing on her breaks every day).
ofc she was advised by her parents to go to school first to work on her craft before she left, and she agreed. not wanting to move too far away (aka new york) just yet, opted for northview university where she is double majoring musical theatre and composition!!
she’s been working at empire records for two years now. it began as a way to help her parents pay for her tuiton (and set some aside to move to new york), but over the years it’s become more than just a job to her and she really loves working at empire.
she’s graduating college in may and the thought of having to leave this job when she moves makes her sad :(((

if i could put her into a label, it would the dynamo which quite literally means “an extremely energetic person” SO there’s that. she does come off a bit strong at times but she means well and just has a lot of energy
she is also very soft but WAIT she’s also a strong bitch with bde sorry i don’t make the rules. she fights for what she believes in and won’t stop for anything that gets in her way if it comes to it.
if ur working with her on any given day she will greet you with a hug every day i don’t make the rules sorry

⋆ * ✰ — ( dong sicheng. twenty-two. he/him. cis male. ). i hope that liu yiqiang (james) isn’t late for their shift again. i swear to god they can be so lackadaisical & disorganised sometimes. then again i know joe hired them one year ago because they’re genuine & sweet, whatever. every time they’re working they always want to play tieduprightnow by parcels, it kinda drives me up the wall. when they aren’t at empire they’re studying contemporary dance at northview university. i think they ended up working at empire because they fell in love with the atmosphere after chancing upon it by accident. they remind me so much of long & slender fingers adorned with rings, motion-blur silhouettes in photos, strawberry-scented lipgloss.
hello ! i’m HONEY and i’m from the gmt +8 timezone, although my sleep schedule is kind of fucked so i might be on the dash at odd hours of the day. anywho, james is an entirely new muse that i pulled out of thin air specifically for this group. the sparknotes summary for him is under the cut, but i’m also still figuring him out, so i guess it’s going to be a learning journey for all of us, huh. he’s babey and i love him though !!
BACKGROUND
born liu yi qiang ( 刘毅强 ) on 11/16/1997 in beijing, china, where he spent the early years of his childhood.
when he was ten years old, his parents divorced and his mum decided to move to the US to live with her sister, bringing him with her. his mother never remarried, so he was pretty much raised by his mum, his aunt, and his aunt’s girlfriend.
before getting married and settling down to start a family, his mother was a semi-famous dancer, with a background in traditional chinese dance. james inherited his love of the art from her, and has been taking dance classes since he was a young boy in beijing. because he couldn’t keep up with traditional chinese dance once they moved to the states, he started exploring other forms of dance, and is trained in ballet and jazz as well, although he ultimately decided to pursue contemporary dance.
his long-term dream is to open his own dance studio someday—after he’s done touring with a professional dance company, of course.
he’s also doing a minor in chinese language and literature, mostly because he can, but also as a way of maintaining a connection to his culture.
he chanced upon empire records entirely by accident, but he’s lowkey a pretentious hipster at heart and he fell in love with the place immediately, applying for a job there the moment he found out they were hiring.
PERSONALITY

no, really, dude is talented as fuck but has maybe half a braincell and it’s honestly a small miracle he’s managed to get this far in life without any major incidents.
extremely graceful while dancing, but surprisingly clumsy otherwise. please do not leave any sharp objects lying around when he’s in the vicinity.
misplaces things all the time and finds them in the most random places after he’s given up looking for them.
very sweet! he tends to get doted on a lot and inspires protective instincts in the people around him, but he definitely has a snarky side that comes out when he’s around friends he’s comfortable with.
transforms into an entirely different person when he’s performing though. he looks very cool on stage but once he’s off the stage he turns into a whole cutie.
he’s a terrible texter who either responds immediately or an entire week later, there’s really no in-between.
while he can be excitable at times, he’s generally a pretty low energy person who would rather spend an entire weekend watching movies in bed than have an active social life, although he does go out occasionally.
speaks mandarin when he’s angry or very drunk.
has a cat named yunyun ( 云云, lit. cloud cloud ) and is in the running for the world’s most obnoxious cat dad, because he will take any opportunity to gush about her and show off photos of yunyun and all the toys he’s bought / made for her.
CONNECTIONS
bad influence ( 0 / 1 ) — not necessarily a bad person, just someone who has maybe made it a personal mission to get him to leave his comfort zone once in a while and let loose, i.e. the biggest reason why he’s not entirely a recluse.
musical soulmate ( 0 / 1 ) — someone with a background in music that he frequently works with for his dance projects; either they compose music for him to dance to, or he choreographs dances for their songs.

sebastian logan mccure . . . man , what a guy . he’s a huge ass nerd & enjoys all types of things . if i had to put him into a type , it would be VAGABOND . he’s rather much of an explorer & thrives off of the bare minimum of the materialistic things . he’s much more content with a simple couch for a bed than a house with more than 4 rooms . he’s never satisfied with anything he does & always dream of becoming one of those van - life people due to the simplicity they have . the one thing he will splurge on is making sure that he’s updated with the newest phone & getting a new computer every couple of years . other than that , catch sebastian at the local grocery store getting ramen noodles or at the thrift store getting clothes & other things he may need to keep his studio apartment comfortable . he does tend to spend more time in his hammock outside & at empire records than anywhere else . it isn’t even surprising to find him sleeping in the back room of the store before or after a shift . he is the type of guy who can & does lip sync to every song & dances along without any qualms because life is too short not to have fun .

he grew up in derby for most of his life with an adoring mother , a step-father , & a younger brother .
the family was pretty much okay other than being exposed to very toxic masculinity & a toxic mindset from his step-father , paul , at such a young which in time turned into mental abuse .
sebastian took the brunt of the abuse from paul due to the fact that he wasn’t paul’s own child like his younger brother , alexander , was .
when sebastian came out as trans when he was 9 years old , paul didn’t like that in the slightest & made the abuse even worse to the point of threatening of violence .
but that didn’t stop sebastian for being who he was & his brother & mom showed their absolute support & love .
it did ; however , help spur huge dysphoria which is still a struggle he has to overcome
during his middle school days , sebastian would find solace at empire records .
he would spend every day after school there whether he was doing homework , listening to music , or bothering the workers with questions .
empire records became his home away from home & was the only place that made him feel safe .
when he was 11 years old , his mother , adelaine , started him on puberty blockers secretly without paul knowing & started saving up money in case sebastian wanted to get top & bottom surgery .
we just stan adelaine , okay . she’s 11 / 10 mom .
paul caught on after a few years .
at this point , paul became unbearable & adelaine filed for divorce & promptly moved out of the house with sebastian & alexander to move a couple of states of over in with her sister .
during this stint of being away from derby , sebastian was 14 - 19 , just turning 20 .
in this time , he did get top surgery when he was 18
was voted “ best smile ” & “ most likely to become famous ” in high school
& fought a bigger fight of being bisexual .
with the toxic mindset of growing up thanks to paul , he struggled hard with internalized homophobia finding himself disgusted most of the time with himself which didn’t help at all .
sebastian came to terms with his sexuality when he was 17 but often times still does those intrusive thoughts that who he loves is absolutely wrong
the reason why he moved back to derby is because he had something to prove .
sebastian had to prove to paul that he’s comfortable with who he is & isn’t ashamed of it . he’s finally able to express himself fully & embraces that .
however , when he moved back , he found out that paul found another wife & actually moved away from derby a couple of years prior .
sebastian was reliving his years spent at empire records when joe approached him & asked if he would like a job & sebastian wasn’t about to turn that down .
he’s been working here for two years now .
living in a small studio apartment that’s only a block away with an adorable cat named frankie .
