Moulin Rouge! The Musical at The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC - Various Dates
In honour of Moulin Rouge ending its run in DC (I don’t wanna talk about it) and incredible performers such as John Cardoza, Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer, Libby Lloyd, and Austin Durant moving on from the show, I thought I’d share some pictures I took over the *four times* I went to see it while it was in my hometown.
Already being such a massive fan of the show, and Moulin Rouge in general being a core part of my identity since I was a toddler, I knew I’d be seeing it when the tour made its way to me. I thought I’d see once, maybe twice, but after my first show, I knew I was financially ruined because of this CAST, especially John Cardoza and Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer as Christian and Satine. If they were staying with the tour I’d be in seeing them in Pittsburgh next week, honestly. Having this show running near me just a few metro stops away has been such a reprieve and such a joy. I’ve gotten to meet some of this cast at the stage door and they’re all just lovely (meanwhile I’m an incredibly awkward person who shouldn’t be allowed to talk to anyone ever) (telling John Cardoza I adore him to his face is a life highlight for me tbh). I just utterly adore this show, I look forward to seeing it again on Broadway and when it’s back in the DMV (Baltimore) in December. I look forward to seeing John Cardoza again in The Notebook (just announce it, we all know). I look forward to seeing Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer in whatever she does next. I’ll be following the careers of the rest of this cast and buying tickets to whatever I need to to see them perform again because they’re all just spectacular, spectacular!
