More Twin Dragons AU yaaaaay! Twin Dragons being the AU I'm working on with @lovedtogekiss btw
So this is still following canon so uhhhh- Behind the scenes stuff! The file for this sucked. Like so much note tuning I had to undo and aaaaaaaa- I love how the result ended up, though, and I love how Eleanor Forte sounds with An Xiao and Mai

Honestly I know so many people who like. Know about Vocaloid, maybe other synths too, enjoy it, but feel distanced from it because they can't really put their hands in it. That was me for many years.
If you like some vocal synth voices, if you think it'd be fun for a vocal synth voice to say this and sing that, remember that there are many ways to use vocal synths for free.
You could make your own covers, or you could just. Make them say the one funny sentence and go "hehee"
UTAU is a free program that allows for anyone to create their own vocal synth, and for anyone to use these vocal synths, (or UTAUs) granted they have the download link. There are a few famous UTAUs like Kasane Teto or Namine Ritsu, but you could also fall in love with a lesser known UTAU created by some rando! In case you don't enjoy using UTAU, the program, there are front-ends for it such as OpenUtau that are easier to use with some more functions. There are UTAUs in many different languages.
Synthesizer V Basic is the free version of Synthesizer V. It's completely useable on its own, with some limitations such as having only three tracks at a time (which is completely manageable) and not being able to use paid voicebanks to their full potential (which won't impact you if you only use the free voicebanks). As of right now, being that I'm missing just a few Standard Lites, I have 22 Lite (aka free) voicebanks, + 3 Free Limited Trial voicebanks on SynthV. This includes some voicebanks you may be familiar with, such as Kasane Teto SV, Eleanor Forte, Eleanor Forte AI, SOLARIA, Haruno Sora...
Synthesizer V Editor (also known as R1) is an old version of Synthesizer V with a free trial that you can use forever. It has a few free voicebanks, iirc being Yamine Renri, GENBU and Eleanor Forte. If you like GENBU, you might be interested in testing his R1 voicebank, since his Lite on SynthV Basic has some imperfections. (sob)
DeepVocal is another free program similar to UTAU. It has its own voicebanks and its own appearance. It's not currently being developed but you can continue to download and use all its free voicebanks!
NEUTRINO is a lesser known AI program which is, at the moment, completely free. It's a little tricky to use, and is not compatible with... well, my PC for example, but if you listen to it and like its voices, it's worth looking into - it may work for you!
VoiSona is another current program that can be downloaded for free with a free voicebank, being Chis-A! If you like Chis-A... she's free!
I'm less familiar with ACE Studio because I don't. personally like it. but it comes with a free trial - another option to look into!
I think you can also get you a free trial for VOCALOID6 with its native voicebanks. If you're into text-to-speech programs, VOICEVOX is an option if you know Japanese! (It supports some recognisable voicebank such as GENBU-as-just-a-guy, Namine Ritsu, Shikoku Metan who is also on UTAU and NEUTRINO... etc.)
Thanks to her new SynthV voicebank, there's even talk of Gumi Megpoid having a Lite (aka free) voicebank in the future. If you want to get into vocal synth, if you just want to test it out, you can do it right now for free. I'm sure I forgot some examples. People often talk about their paid voicebanks collections, about buying the newest release, but you can do so much for free. Like just get Chis-A. What's stopping you? Some SynthV Lite voicebanks are really high quality, like Kyomachi Seika AI, to me, is barely distinguishable from her full version. Sorry to keep rambling, but I think the "wow! you can make a neocities website for free??!" site needs to know you can also make a vocal synth cover for free. You can make your own songs featuring a vocal synth for free (not commercially) too.

happy birthday eleanor forte (synthv) [18 aug]
Tumblr media
(synthv art)
Eleanor Forte is an english synth developed by dreamtonics, and distributed by VOLOR/ Animen. she was released in 2018. she is illustrated by Sleepy Ho11ow/ Chuuko Amp, and her vp hasnt been revealed. eleanor was released on 18 aug 2018 (for synthv), but the technical preview of synthv was released on 19 aug 2018, so eleanors birthday is both days. on 30 jul 2018 her standard lite released for synthv studio, on 28 nov 2021 her ai lite released for svs (synth v studio), on 6 dec 2021 her ai itself released for svs, and her stander for svs is in development. eleanor was the first synth relased for synthv. in her concept art it can be seen that she was originally designed to look more like a post carrier. she has an interest in antiques and has an unwavering sense of morality. she is best friends with ANRI

hey. cry. like a dog by ferry but it's about evan 5r6c
With synthv eleanor forte ai lite and asterian lite
@strifesolution @irished-lads
lyrics under cut
Lyrics:
Panic was never a factor
Our fate was realigned in a fatal disaster
Still followed by her form
I delayed and I faltered
For ages
Like an obedient dog
Wisdom was never a factor
Avoidance came to light as a means to combat her
You cowards who betray, lose your way in the fervor
And hope you aren’t caught not obeying my orders
You will come running back like a dog
A wounded dog
Run back like a dog
A wounded dog
Run back like a dog
A wounded dog
Run back like a dog
To her
I know of patient emotion
The ticking of a bomb warning of the explosion
Go on and take the shot
In a chain of commotion, he’ll lie there
Like an obedient dog
So won’t you tell me
What do you know of devotion?
Obsession with the garden of Eden you’d broken
Accept the former me wore away to erosion
And even if it takes a decade, I know that
You will come running
Back like a dog
A wounded dog
Run back like a dog
A wounded dog
Run back like a dog
A wounded dog
Run back like a dog
A wounded dog
Run back like a dog
A wounded dog
Run back like a dog
A wounded dog
Run back like a dog
A wounded dog
Run back like a dog
A wounded dog

New theme song! With vocals AND lyrics :D
This one was largely inspired by Massive Attack and their album "Mezzanine" which I listened to on loop while working on backgrounds for VN. Very different vibes compared to the old theme XD I might make a tamer version for the actual main menu.
Lyrics and some of my ramblings about the song under the cut! ALSO, headphones recommended for full experience (there's a lot of panning and phasing)
So as was with the old theme, the guys are each represented by instruments.
Edd is the lead synth (Cat is another synth that supports him), percussion/drums and all the SFX and weird noises on the background. He's got the most presence overall cuz it's his world. He's the glue that ties it all together.
Tom is the bass. He's mostly on the back but he's nearly ever present with the richest widest sound and can be heard most when others shut up lol.
Matt is the keys. He's got his own solo part, in the bridge. In the chorus him and Edd play the same notes one after the other, as if trying to get the upper hand. Most noticeable when each of their parts are playing louder.
Tord is the guitar playing the bass notes, in the chorus. This wasn't exactly intentional but his instrument chiming in only in the chorus is almost a reference to him not doing much talking. Also, in the first half, it's playing relatively normal, but in the second half, there's a lot more legatos and sliding up and down, as if he's letting himself get a bit more lose, dropping his usual class pres persona
Overall with this song I wanted something extremely textured, like a dozen of kittens purring into the ears XD I don't know why but textured songs with lots of sounds are becoming my jam lately.
It's less reliant on Eddsworld's jingle now, able to stand on its own. Though I couldn't help myself and sneaked a reference to it in the verse, the last four notes playing by the lead.
And now, the lyrics!
(I wrote them in like an hour, and I'm no poet, so forgive me if these sound too corny)
No rest for me Under the undying moonlight. A silent plea Echoing through the dark of night. (Come set me free) Heartbeat gone null, Body's numb and vision turned blurred white. No wish but one - For you to come and hold me tight. No future, No time. No meaning, No rhyme. No senses, No feelings. No life in These beings. No rest for the wicked (Come set me free) No rest for the wicked (Come set me free)

I wanna say a few things about Synthesizer V, because a lot of vocal synth fans, especially of mainly Vocaloid and UTAU, tend to misconstrue intent when it comes to wishing for vocals to migrate or cross-platform on the engine.
-It isn't about 'realistic,' or at least for the most part. It isn't about disliking their classic robotic sound just because of progress. I'm gonna say it- I do dislike Vocaloid 6. I don't think that's an unpopular opinion. But I don't hate Vocaloid in general, and want badly for the software to improve.
Banks like Gumi and Una got smoother transitions and (bad) crosslang... at the cost of getting put through a white noise factory. Their V4s were much clearer and even Gumi V3 English was far more reliable, while their V6 updates sound as though someone in the recording booth is rubbing styrofoam and the mic lacks a pop filter. Supposedly in the name of the iconic 'Vocaloid sound' that the type of engine noise doesn't even resemble. And for those who like the robotic sound and don't like SynthV because it's not, I've got news for you- you can have it without the fuzz.
For one, you can tune robotically in SynthV very easily. Tune entirely manually like any non-AI program, and since there's very little of that metallic twang, certain effects just move to mixing. Rather than taking out the sound of engine noise, it's putting certain things back in instead, which is a lot easier to do than the inverse- and the option of keeping things sounding more natural and clean without all that work is a huge bonus for people who don't think that sound fits their taste or style.
I personally love robotic-sounding vocals. But a clean, clear, and fluent base render output is essential to get the most out of your sound. I love Eleanor Forte R1/lite because that's what she is. Clean, clear, and fluent. But not realistic in any sense, unless compared to previous vsynths. She's probably just an Arpasing bank with higher render quality, but she's amazing regardless. And free too!
-Accessibility. SynthV is very accessible and easy to pick up. There's a limited version to try it out and make projects at the cost of fancy features that even allows commercial use, and many voicebanks have lite versions also with limited features and no commercial use. There aren't time limits on trying out the program- and just like Vocaloid, if you tune something with one vocal you can send it to a friend to render with another. Having lite voices to work with a lower quality version of the same voice that will render it means you actually know for the most part what you'll get, save for a couple quite old exceptions.
And when you do want full versions, it's dirt cheap. It's cheaper than Cevio, and far moreso than Vocaloid or Piapro. The two most expensive voicebanks on the program convert to roughly $120USD, and they're known for their special features and high quality. Most are 60-90 for digital, and SynthV voicebanks are feature-rich with the equivalent to appends already built in.
Full versions of AI voicebanks (the current gen) are also multilingual with little quality loss between languages, mainly just an accent. No need to purchase a separate English voicebank with no appends or deal with extremely clunky input and tuning. Currently four- (soon five!!) are options usable for any voice. Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, English, and when testing is done, Spanish will go from being exclusive to one bank to fully available.
It's also just generally very user-friendly. Especially if you dip your toes in with the basic editor before being barraged with all the features of pro, everything is laid out simply. While the UI could use a minor revamp because it's getting crowded and being able to resize the sidebars would be nice, there isn't really anything bad to say about it. As someone who'd hardly touched vocal synths myself, I knew how to work it in hours.
Oh, the autopitch. This one is contentious. There is a certain laziness to doing plug-n-play on a cover and calling it a day, just like with any other vocal synth. However, on originals, or working with it to make sure the voice cooperates, more time can be spent on phonemes, parameters, and mixing. Calling SynthV bad because it's just 'too easy' is gatekeeping vocal synths, plain and simple. Being able to make what you want without having to manually make every single pitchbend or fight with the program before getting to do anything more interesting is a way to make people more creative, not less.
-In regards to people complaining about the updates- aside from Stardust because of her limited copies and discontinuation, previous versions are still there! Dreamtonics doesn't give companies or individuals predatory contracts that force them to stop distributing older products with the same VP or wait for years to move. They're okay with their voices being on multiple engines and still supported. You'll still get your UTAU Teto, Renri, Oscar and XYY, Cevio Rose, Popy, and Kafu, and Vocaloid Gumi, Sora, Miki, and Kiyo. And you'll get your SynthVs!
Synthesizer V, Voicepeak, and Dreamtonics are not turning into a monopoly. Vocaloid still has tenure and the current version has a backlog spanning back to V3. Cevio has some heavy hitters that make it huge in Japan. Ace Studio is big in China and has the Vsingers. If you see characters coming to SynthV, that speaks of the quality of the program and its capabilities of bringing a wider audience. It has naturalness for those that want it, high quality render output, expressiveness, fluent English for marketing to the west, and Windows, Linux, and Mac support. There's nothing wrong with wanting options, and the companies know this. It's broadening the market, not vice versa.

im interested in using synthv but i dont wanna take the plunge and buy it right away do you have like ??? any tutorials or anything??? srry if this is rude
not rude at all!! synthV actually has a basic version you can get for free, and a bunch [maybe all?] of their voicebanks have lite versions for free too, that’s how i first tested it out before i was like “fuck it this rules but i wanna spend all my money on the ability to use teto english”.
synthV basic is actually really good as a free trial because it’s unlimited time and the only limitation i can think of is that you can only have three tracks per project file including instrumental so like, you get one harmony. and the lite voicebanks don’t use multi-pitch samples and the samples they Do use sound a Little metallic but it still sounds REALLY GOOD on their own, as well as only being limited to one language since they don’t use the AI phoneme synthesis feature [IE teto lite is locked to japanese, eleanor forte lite is locked to english, etc]
i don’t Think i have any tutorials on hand though one of these days i totally should make something like that, but synthV [and other vocasynth software] is really easy to get the hang of!! it’s basically just a sequencer on a piano roll, you place the notes and [after assigning a singer to the track] the robot sings. i’m pretty sure i recall synthV basic has automated tuning just like pro, which you Can switch off if you prefer tuning everything manually but holy fuck my tuning would sound like total shit without that assist it’s just so goddamn human.
OH also one more little tip, if you want to insert a breath sound, just add a note with the lyric “br”, and on japanese voicebanks, there’s a glottal stop phoneme you can insert which is “cl” and some people are really good at using that to fake vocal fry, one of these days i gotta try that

Proposing a theory in which despite what i say i will fall in love with any voicebank ever provided that i test it out singing my own songs.
Case in point with Eleanor Forte
I bought Eleanor Forte AI over the weekend and got her today <3 I mostly got her bc i want to be able to sell my songs which you cant if you use a lite version- but i was like eh i like El lite's voice as it is ill just figure out how to make it sound more or less like the lite version whatever (i imagine how demented this sounds to anyone who uses voicebanks properly and makes actually good music)- turns out they actually give you a little text file that explains how to make it sound like El lite with the installer <3 this is actually so amazing that they did this wtf.
Soa nyway she sounds So Good. Like she sounds much less robotic which is the point but she still has the same goodness that the lite version had especially bc i used the lite version for a trick that i think you can only do with lite VBs, but it still works with this version of her <3 <3 <3 So happy

7. Who's your favourite vocal synth producer?
9. What's your voicebank wishlist? And who is number one on your list?
20. What voicebanks do you own/have at your disposal? (Free and/or paid, your choice.)
That's honestly a really hard choice. I quite like Ferry, GHOST, Amitai, Kairiki Bear, Pinnochio-P, Deco 27, Utsu-P, the list goes on.... okay yeah I definitely can't choose a favourite shdijejsdkkejs
In general, I want Synthesizer V Pro, but Eleanor Forte AI and Kasane Teto AI are two that I especially want. Also, if I ever use Vocaloid, I'd like to use Fukase, Oliver, VFlower, or Megurine Luka. Vocaloid is probably never going to happen for me personally, though.
I use Utane Koe, Defota Itadaki, Defosuke, and technically, Eleanor Forte Lite, but I haven't used SynthV in a while. I'm planning on doing stuff with Kazehiki, Gekiyaku, and Defoko in the future, but I want to try to finish my current projects before starting any new ones.

Hayden, Eri, Sheena, Wei Shu as well as Yun Quan and Lin Lai are now available to purchase on the Dreamtonics international store.
A Free-Limited Trial version of Eri is also available to download, so don't miss out on it!
Don't forget to check for updates to your voicebanks. Many can be updated right now to support Japanese rap! (Eleanor Forte AI and the TOKYO6 girls excluded).
Unrelated, but ANRI Lite also has an update available. I didn't even know that could happen. By the way, ASTERIAN's Lite was added to Dreamtonics' resource, in case you'd rather download it from there.

Someone call a meeting, cuz Imposter Fluffy's gotta go!
Identity by Kanaria but it's about Fluffy and Fluffer. With SynthV Kevin and Eleanor Forte AI Lite.
I started this in January and then didn't wanna work on it for months.
Lyrics and credits under cut
Fluffy: You wouldn’t download me if you had to deal With a crappy bootleg copy They’ve clearly bad intent So why do they get pats all because they say they need-
Fluffer: Complete full attention from your friends, enemies too.
Both: Someone call a meeting 'cause Imposter Fluffy's gotta go
Fluffy: Identity You stole it away Our identity
Fluffer: Identity You’re the fake I’ll eliminate, replace
Fluffy: Out of everything that’s happened Didn’t expect to protect my destiny
Fluffer: I’ll handle the Board, then Give it up Now I need you to step back or else it will get messy
Fluffy: Yeah it’s a matter of time til we find out the truth No you could never do what I do All of these strings of mine, of every I scrutinized Not one of them has tied you to my Identity
