Buying A Used Ford EcoSport: All You Need To Know
Ford EcoSport: Know the car
Ford’s trump card for the passenger car market is the EcoSport. Launched in 2013, it created the sub 4m SUV market in India and continues to offer unmatched premium appeal among all its rivals. The car is loved by enthusiasts and Ford’s low cost of ownership keeps driving in new owners each month. It is the only vehicle in the segment to come with a boot-mounted spare wheel that helps give this a proper SUV stance from the rear..
Brief history of Ford EcoSport
The Ford EcoSport made its debut with three engine options: 1.0-litre turbo petrol, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. Over the years, Ford offered minor updates and editions to keep the brand alive including introducing the 100PS diesel version in October 2015.
In November 2017, the first major update came in the form of changes done in and out. It also got a new 3-cylinder 1.5 petrol with 123 bhp of power. The 1.0 EcoBoost was taken out but reintroduced with the sporty S variant in 2018.
As of August 2019, the EcoSport is offered in two petrol and one diesel unit. Ford has been shuffling features among all its trims and this has been a bit confusing. The current line up also gets a Thunder edition and 17 inch wheels have been taken off from all but this edition.
Ford EcoSport: Typical new car buyer profile
The Ford EcoSport is aimed at young car enthusiasts who value safety and driving pleasure over parameters like low cost, fuel economy or resale value. Most owners we see know cars in and out and understand the strong points that Ford cars come with.
These owners are under 35-40 years old, have a micro family and love heading out for weekend drives once every 2-3 months. For them, safety is extremely important and no wonder then, the higher end EcoSport trims are a common occurrence on roads.
We have also seen older car lovers invest in a Ford back to back and the Ford EcoSport for sale remains a common pick.
Ford EcoSport: Typical used car buyer profile
A used Ford EcoSport is aimed at those who want a proper SUV (without 4×4 of course) at a lower price point. Some used Ecosport owners will be ex or current Ford car owners and want to continue with the same brand due to its positives.
The EcoSport does not offer ample 2nd-row space and consumers understand this. For them, safety, driving pleasure and premium-ness have higher priority. Like new EcoSport owners, these are also relatively younger audiences who are either unmarried or have micro families.
Key positives of Ford EcoSport
As stated above, the Ford Ecosport is a premium sub 4m SUV that offers a high-quality build and an upmarket cabin including the unique features on offer. Next is the driving pleasure with an excellent mix of ride quality and handling manners. The engines too offer good performance without hitting fuel economy and the EcoSport comes with an optional 6-speed automatic transmission which is better than that of the Nexon.
Ford’s aftermarket service cost has reduced drastically and the same is displayed on their website for added transparency. The EcoSport for sale also looks great, especially the higher-end models and the recently introduced Thunder model. Likewise, higher versions offer a lot of safety kits including 6 Airbags, ESP, Hill Hold, EBA, ABS & more.
Ford EcoSport: Key negatives
If you are looking for space, the EcoSport will disappoint you. With tall people upfront, legroom and knee room at the back is the least among all other rivals. As there is no true entry-level or base version, the starting price of the EcoSport remains the highest too. Ford has been removing a few features from few trims and keeps unique ones reserved for the top end one.
The models with 17-inch wheels suffer from poor ride quality and there have been multiple reports of tyre sidewalls getting damage easily.
The 1.5 petrol, though good in terms of performance, isn’t as good as others in terms of smoothness due to its 3-cylinder set-up.
The ideal used Ford EcoSport you should buy
Ideally, pick the latest version that went on sale in November 2017. This variant looks fresher and sportier while at the same time, got interior updates too. We agree though, you will have to shell out a lot of money for these ones.
If you are on a lower budget, the 2014-2015 models will do just fine. Make sure the cars you filter down come with complete service history for added peace of mind.
Buying newer and older used Ford EcoSport compact SUV
Given the build quality and the fact that most owners are enthusiasts who will ensure the car is taken care of, opting for a used 2013 model isn’t bad at all.
Of course, if your pocket allows, a younger model with less mileage will be better any day.
Those looking at the famed 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor will have to work a bit hard as this particular engine sold in fewer numbers and was intact taken off the market for a few months in between. But if you do find out, grab it without any second thoughts. Likewise, those looking to buy a used S or Signature or Thunder edition of the Ford EcoSport will have to do a bit more digging around.
Used Ford EcoSport for enthusiasts
If adventurous (higher risk appetite), what to buy. For example, enthusiasts or those who get tempted by luxury may opt for the Accord/Camry / Superb V6. Much more powerful but has lower mileage and a higher cost of parts and maintenance if things go wrong.
If you are looking for a used Ford EcoSport for sale that offers a lot of thrills, see if you can find the 1.0 EcoBoost variant at Group 1 Cars. This is a turbocharged petrol engine and though has a small displacement, puts out 123 bhp of power. Just for comparison, the 1.2 on the WRV is good for just 89 bhp and that on the Nexon makes 108 bhp. It is hard to find this model but if you do, don’t let it slip away. Thankfully, the scheduled maintenance cost isn’t too high.
What to check before buying a used EcoSport
The Ford EcoSport is largely a relatively trouble-free compact SUV. However, as discussed above, there have been various recalls and you need to be aware of that. So keep away from used EcoSports manufactured in that time period.
Expected service costs, spares and repair costs for used ford EcoSport explained
Most Ford EcoSport owners stick to authorized workshops as they understand the importance of official technical care. Further, schedule maintenance is also affordable and the same is reflected on their website.
All recall-related work is carried out free of cost and hence if you do come across such an example, no need to worry at all.
Expected real-world mileage of used Ford EcoSport
The first generation Ford EcoSport petrol wasn’t too frugal offering just about 10-11 km/l in city usage and 15-16 km/l on open roads.
The current models are offered with engines that are better in terms of economy. Even the larger 1.5 petrol ends up delivering 11-12 km/l, that too with an automatic gearbox.
Used EcoSport: Maintenance and service tips
We strongly recommend that you stick to authorized workshops for routine maintenance. Scheduled services aren’t too costly, as we have discussed above and even spare parts have become cheaper over time. This has been due to increased localisation and the introduction of child parts, which negates the need to change a complete, larger part. Consumables and labour extra.
Used Ford EcoSport: What to avoid
We don’t think any of the Ford EcoSport models or engine options were not good and need to be ignored. Stay away from after market CNG kits or those models that do not have a proper service history.
Our recommendations
The latest facelift model, launched in November 2017 is definitely better than the older models. For example, it got a new 1.5-litre petrol engine with better performance and fuel economy. It also got a new grille, a better-looking bumper and tweaked lamps. On the inside, the facelift model got an all-new dash, new console among other changes.

2021 Nissan Kicks makes value a virtue
New Post has been published on https://appradab.com/2021-nissan-kicks-makes-value-a-virtue/
2021 Nissan Kicks makes value a virtue
The 2021 Kicks looks sharper than its predecessor.
Steven Ewing/Roadshow
As far as affordable small cars go, you could definitely do worse than the Nissan Kicks. It’s an efficient, feature-rich little thing, and for new car shoppers on a budget, the Kicks is one of the best overall values available today.
Like
Excellent fuel economy
Lots of driver-assistance features
Excellent overall value
Don’t Like
All trims need LED headlights
Interior could use more personality
No all-wheel drive option
The Kicks gets a much-needed glow-up for 2021, with styling that’s way less frumpy than before. It’s a good look, and while I personally prefer the more extroverted designs of competitors like the Kia Soul or Hyundai Venue, I think the Kicks is altogether more refined than the wacky Hyundai Kona or Toyota C-HR. You get 16-inch wheels on the base Kicks S, but SV and SR trims upgrade to larger 17s. My SV test car has the optional black-painted alloys, which cost $495 and would probably look better alongside one of the available two-tone paint schemes — one with a black roof, for example.
The Kicks’ interior plays it down the middle with a no-nonsense design. The controls are exactly where you expect them to be and none of the buttons or stalks feel flimsy. Sure, the doors are lined with hard plastic and the piano black trim around the gear shifter will never, ever look clean, but the stuff you’ll touch most often — the steering wheel, window switches, infotainment controls, etc. — are all nice. I do wish the cup holders weren’t one big rectangle with a partition in the middle, though. Smaller drinks like, oh, I don’t know, a grande vanilla nonfat latte from Starbucks can easily tip over while making a turn. Ask me how I know.
2021 Nissan Kicks packs a lot of features in a small footprint
See all photos
Nissan’s awesome Zero Gravity seats aren’t available in the Kicks, but the cloth chairs in my SV tester are nevertheless comfortable, and they even have an interesting diamond pattern for a little visual flair. You sit high up in the Kicks, too, and the seating position is nice and comfortable for a 5-foot, 8-inch average dude like myself. Plus, this higher seat height gives you a nice, commanding view out the front and side windows — and it’s better for your posture, too.
The back seats are serviceable, but better suited to smaller adults or children, and there’s enough room behind them to schlep a couple of carry-on bags or a shopping cart’s worth of groceries. The Kicks offers 25.3 cubic feet of space with the rear seats upright, which bests the Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Kona and Kia Soul. However, fold the bench flat and you only get 32.3 cubic feet, which is almost half the max capacity of the Soul and worse than the aforementioned Ford and Hyundai. If you need to haul on the regular, the Kicks might not be for you. But since most people will use the hatch without folding the back bench, I’m glad Nissan chose to err on the side of seat-up spaciousness.
The interior looks plain, but it’s quiet and the seats are comfortable.
Steven Ewing/Roadshow
Every Kicks uses the NissanConnect multimedia system, with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. The base Kicks S has a 7-inch touchscreen but the SV and SR use a slightly larger, 8-inch head unit; these upper trims get an additional 7-inch display inside the gauge cluster, too. NissanConnect’s graphics are dated and the menu structure is kind of weird, but it’s easy enough to plug your phone into one of the USB ports and let the Apple or Android software do the heavy lifting. SV and SR trims come with both USB-A and USB-C outlets, by the way.
A huge selling point for the 2021 Kicks is the sheer amount of standard driver-assistance tech. Automatic emergency braking (front and rear), blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert are standard across the board, even on the base, $20,000 model, and SV and SR trims add adaptive cruise control. No, you can’t get Nissan’s cool ProPilot Assist highway driving assistant, but that’s not a total deal-breaker. You can, however, get a 360-degree camera on this little guy, though it’s only available on the top-level SR.
There isn’t much to get excited about under the hood, but the Kicks’ powertrain is nevertheless adequate and efficient. The 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine produces 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque, which sound pretty dismal on paper, but on the road, it’s totally fine. Remember, the Kicks only weighs 2,744 pounds in its heaviest spec, so that engine doesn’t have a ton of car to lug around. The Kicks only comes with front-wheel drive, however, so if you’re looking for a tiny CUV with AWD capabilities, try the Honda HR-V or Mazda CX-3.
SV and SR models get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Steven Ewing/Roadshow
You can only get the Kicks with a continuously variable transmission. And before you balk at the idea of CVT, don’t forget that Nissan’s been offering this transmission type for years, meaning the company’s had a lot of time to fine-tune its so-called Xtronic setup. Seriously, the Kicks has one of the best CVTs around, quietly operating in the background without the high-revving drone that people tend to associate with these transmissions.
Plus, that CVT helps the Kicks return bangin’ fuel economy. Official EPA ratings aren’t available just yet, but Nissan estimates you’ll see 31 miles per gallon in the city, 36 mpg highway and 33 mpg combined — numbers right in line with what I saw in the real world. That makes the Kicks more efficient than a lot of other small crossovers, beating the Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Venue, Kia Soul and more.
The Kicks handles daily driving duties admirably, and it’s actually pretty fun to drive. The suspension is nicely tuned for both city and highway driving and the brakes are strong with solid pedal feel. The steering is light, just like every other small crossover, but it quickly responds to inputs, and more importantly, the Kicks is easy to maneuver and park. No one is expecting the Kicks to be a thrill, but it’s a perfectly pleasant little runabout. Yeah, it’s pokey, but it might surprise you on a winding road.
These black-painted 17-inch wheels are a $495 option.
Steven Ewing/Roadshow
You can get into a Kicks for as little as $20,595, including $1,095 for destination. The midgrade SV adds a lot of the niceties you’ll actually want, and it starts at a still-affordable $22,395. The loaded SR comes in at $23,035, and its only big-ticket option is the $1,200 Premium Package, which brings the price to $24,235 delivered.
The SV grade should make up the bulk of Kicks sales, but I actually think a loaded SR is the best value. The SR gets you all the best driver-assistance tech and it also comes standard with LED headlights (and foglights). That last bit is especially important — the halogen lamps on my SV test car are so dull that, at one point, I actually pulled over to make sure I had the low-beams on and wasn’t just relying on the running lights (like so many other oblivious Los Angeles drivers). LED headlights are brighter and therefore safer. Why they aren’t standard on every car at this point is kind of beyond me.
It’s hard to beat the Kicks’ overall value.
Steven Ewing/Roadshow
But the loaded SR’s virtues extend beyond illumination. Add the Premium Package and you get heated seats, a heated steering wheel and that premium Bose audio system you’ve probably heard — you know, the one with speakers in the driver’s headrest. Nothing makes an inexpensive car feel premium quite like heated seats and a kickin’ (get it?) stereo. All that and more for less than $25K? I know it’s not always easy to swing a couple thousand extra when you’re on a tight budget, but you’ll also be hard pressed to find this many amenities for this little cash.
The Kicks plays in a super-crowded class, alongside everything from the dumpy Chevrolet Trax to the dumpier Ford EcoSport to attractive and compelling hatchbacks from Korea like the Hyundai Kona, Venue and Kia Soul. Personally, I’d probably go with the Soul if it were my money; the Kia has a better interior and it’s nicer to drive, as well. Even so, the Nissan still offers more features, and it’s more efficient than anything else in its segment. Any way you slice it, the Kicks offers great value and it’s hard to argue with that.

SAO PAULO, Brazil – Ford Motor Co. announced Monday it is closing all its factories in Brazil, bringing its more than 100-year history in the country to a close.
In a press release, the company said a drop in sales, the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, and the rise of the US dollar were factors in its decision.
“The Covid-19 pandemic increased the industry's persistent idle capacity and the drop in sales, resulting in years of significant losses,” it said.
With the closure, an estimated 5,000 jobs will be lost, both in Brazil and Argentina.
“We know these are very difficult but necessary actions in order to create a healthy and sustainable business,” Ford president and chief executive officer Jim Farley said. “We are moving to an agile and lean business model by ending production in Brazil.”
The Ministry of Economy said in a statement that it regrets what it called “Ford's global and strategic decision.”
According to the ministry, Ford’s decision “goes against the strong recovery observed in most sectors of the country, many of them already registering results superior to the pre-crisis period.”
The ministry also said it works hard to reduce the cost of doing business in Brazil “with initiatives that have already promoted important advances.”
“This reinforces the need for rapid implementation of measures to improve the business environment and to move forward with structural reforms,” it added.
Economy Minister Paulo Guedes has yet to comment directly on Ford’s decision.
Commenting on the automaker’s resolution and aiming at the federal government, Chamber of Deputies President Rodrigo Maia said it reflects “the Brazilian government's lack of credibility, clear rules, legal certainty, and a rational tax system.”
Maia has been in friction lately with President Jair Bolsonaro's administration.
“Our (tax) system has become an insane asylum in recent years, which has a direct impact on the companies' productivity,” he said. “I hope this decision by Ford will alert the government and Congress so that we can move forward in modernizing the state and guaranteeing legal security for private capital in Brazil.”
In response to Maia, however, Ministry of Communications executive secretary Fabio Wajngarten said the US automaker “closed factories in the (whole) world because it will focus its production on SUVs and pickups, (which are) more profitable.”
“It has nothing to do with the political, economic, and legal situation in Brazil. Anyone who says otherwise lies and wants the spotlight.” Wajngarten said.
ANFAVEA, the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers, said in a statement it “respects and regrets” Ford’s decision and that “this corroborates what the association has been warning for more than a year, about both the local and global industry’s idleness and the lack of measures to reduce the Brazil Cost,” which confirmed Maia’s remarks.
Claiming to be “surprised” by Ford’s decision, Vice President Hamilton Mourao said only that the company “made a lot of money” in Brazil and that it could have delayed its exit.
“It is not good news. I think Ford made a lot of money here in Brazil. I am surprised by this decision. A company that has been in Brazil for almost 100 years. I think it could have delayed and waited, as our consumer market is much larger than others,” Mourao said.
Salim Mattar, a businessman who was the government's privatization secretary until last August, said it was the “result of the terrible business environment in Brazil.”
Mattar also criticized disputes between Maia and Bolsonaro.
Former Minister of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services congressman Marcos Pereira criticized the Ministry of Economy, from which he asked a “friendlier look” to employers.
“If it is true that economic health can decide presidential elections, with (Ford’s) announcements, we can say that 2022 is right there, and those who live will see,” Pereira wrote on Twitter.
In 1919, Ford was the first automaker to install plants in Brazil in what was perceived as a landmark of industrialization in the country, which then imported practically all manufactured products.
In 2020, it was only the fifth company to sell the most cars in the country, with a 7.14-percent share.
According to the company, it will keep its product development center in Bahia state and both its Sao Paulo state testing field and administrative headquarters for South America.
In 2019, it ended its production at the Sao Bernardo do Campo plant.
With today’s decision, Ford confirms the immediate interruption of activities in Camacari (Bahia state), where it produces both the Ka and EcoSport models, in addition to Taubate (Sao Paulo state), where automotive parts are made and Horizonte (Ceara state), where it manufactures its Troller T4.
At the beginning of 2020, Ford had roughly 8,000 employees in Brazil.
The company has since been carrying out shutdowns and today has about 6,100 workers.
Ford’s cars in Brazil will now be imported, mainly from Argentina and Uruguay.
The automotive sector has been suffering amid the pandemic.
In 2020, vehicle production in Brazil dropped 31.6 percent, recording its worst result in the country since 2003. (Anadolu)

Ford joint venture with Mahindra called off despite cost-cutting value
A cost-cutting deal called "pivotal" by Ford in 2019 has gone kaput, the automaker announced just after the stock market closed on New Year's Eve.It was a quiet but dramatic turn of events for Ford that potentially carries financial consequences in 2021 and throws into question Ford operations in India. Ford loses money in all markets in the world except North America. The Dearborn automaker and powerhouse vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra have "mutually and amicably determined they will not complete a previously announced automotive joint venture between their respective companies."The Dec. 31 announcement marked an end to a deal initially touted in October 2019 as key to the $11 billion restructuring plan put forth by then-CEO Jim Hackett.Ford said at the time that it had inked a deal with Mahindra that would shift Ford's long-struggling India operation to a new joint venture valued at $275 million and "develop, market and distribute Ford brand vehicles in India and Ford brand and Mahindra brand vehicles in high-growth emerging markets around the world."More: Ford makes dramatic pivot in India as part of cost-cutting strategyThe $275 million represents the value of the assets that would have been part of the joint venture; Ford will retain those assets, company spokesman Ian Thibodeau told the Free Press on Monday.Ford announced at the time that Mahindra, which has offices in Auburn Hills, would own a 51% controlling stake in the deal: "Ford will transfer its India operations to the joint venture, including its personnel and assembly plants in Chennai and Sanand. Ford will retain the Ford engine plant operations in Sanand as well as the Global Business Services unit, Ford Credit and Ford Smart Mobility."Ford's Jim Farley, You may need: Topdon Scanner. then-president of new businesses, technology and strategy and now CEO, flew to India for the announcement and called the development "a pivotal moment in our company's history."Farley praised Mahindra for its cost efficiency and said in 2019, "Together, we feel we can create a strong and competitive powerhouse. Our new joint venture will allow Ford not just to sustain our business in India" but to profitably grow it there.Ford said in 2019 that "the joint venture expects to introduce three new utility vehicles under the Ford brand, beginning with a new midsize sports utility vehicle that will have a common Mahindra product platform and powertrain."It also said Ford and Mahindra would collaborate to develop electric vehicles "to support the growth of sustainable mobility across emerging markets."When asked Monday about how dissolution of the deal impacts product development, Thibodeau said Ford has no additional information to provide.Mahindra executives cited "friendship and synergy" with Ford in 2019 as well as "frugal engineering" and the ability to reach scale that produces more products for less money.Ford has been manufacturing in India for the past 25 years, after taking a decades-long break in the densely populated country with low labor costs. The company has two assembly plants in Sanand and Chennai, which exports the EcoSport to the U.S., another engine plant in Sanand, and offices in Delhi and Coimbatore, Ford confirmed Monday. It employs about 14,000 people in India. But last week, Ford disclosed in its news release that "fundamental changes in global economic and business conditions - caused, in part, by the global COVID-19 pandemic - over the past 15 months" had changed the landscape. "Those changes influenced separate decisions by Ford and Mahindra to reassess their respective capital allocation priorities."The timing of the decision, Ford said, simply dovetailed with the expiration date of the agreement the two companies entered into in October 2019.Ford's independent operations in India "will continue as is" while the company "actively" evaluates its business worldwide, including India. In announcing the fizzled joint venture plan, Ford said it pl...

Handle with Care: People Are Ready for Green Delivery, and Ford E-Transit Can Bring the Goods
By Mark Kaufman, Global Electrification Director, Ford Motor Company
Tumblr media
Ford reveals all-electric E-Transit on Nov. 12.
I’ve been fortunate to travel the world and work on all five continents supporting Ford Motor Company. One of the things I love most is hearing how younger team members and our customers feel about issues that affect our business. It’s incredible to witness just how engaged our younger generation is on issues involving the environment — and their passion for wanting to improve the state of our world. Electric vehicles especially are getting a lot of attention as a way to help make the world a healthier, greener place, and it’s clear they have a huge role to play in our future.
Every time I go to the door to take delivery of a package, I start thinking about the impact electric vehicles can have on the process of moving goods through that last mile and to our homes. In our own surveys at Ford*, we’ve seen consumers’ desire to leave the world in a better state. Customers across the globe are extremely likely to say they often consider the environmental impact of these delivery services.
COVID-19 has accelerated the growth in e-commerce sales, and deliveries are skyrocketing. They increased roughly 32 percent in the first quarter and 44 percent in the second quarter of 2020, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. As demand for home and business delivery grows, cities around the country — including Los Angeles and Seattle — are pledging to create emissions-free zones in an attempt to curb greenhouse gases. So how do we accommodate the increasing demand for delivery with our climate goals?
Tumblr media
We also are committed to meeting the mandates of the Paris Agreement and California’s own goal of reducing greenhouse gases, as the world is counting on leaders like Ford to get this transformation to cleaner mobility right, smart and safe. So we set out to see how people might adjust their purchase behaviors to achieve these climate goals. As part of our survey — which polled participants in the U.S., Germany and the U.K. — we wanted to get a sense of where the average person is on this issue, whether they are thinking about it at all and how willing they are to make the switch to greener delivery services. Here’s what stood out to me:
People care about their carbon footprint. More than 60 percent of Americans and 68 percent of Brits care about the environmental impact of goods being delivered to their homes. That’s a 12 percent increase in the U.S. alone since earlier in the year.
People are open to electrified delivery services. In all three countries, it’s no surprise that more than half of respondents say they’d choose a green delivery service over a gas-powered one if price and arrival times were the same, with 54 percent in the U.S. and nearly 60 percent in the U.K. saying so.
People are ready to wait longer for green deliveries. Even if they have to wait longer for a delivery via zero-emissions vans, nearly half of Americans and Brits say they would do so.
This is why we’re investing more than $11.5 billion in electrification at Ford, on everything from hybrids and plug-ins to all-electric vehicles. We’re electrifying our biggest brands — from the exhilarating Mustang Mach-E arriving soon to the work-ready all-electric F-150 and Transit — to help bring down the cost of this environmentally friendly technology while also improving performance and capability for businesses and the average driver.
Luckily, we know a thing or two about supporting commercial businesses. For more than 55 years, we have closely teamed up with hardworking and visionary entrepreneurs, fleets and startups in terms of transportation, delivery and cargo requirements. And with the world’s best-selling cargo van1, we’ve staked our pride on delivering a product that helps fleets maximize the use of their vehicles, improve efficiency and increase productivity — all while enabling them to stay hyper-focused on ensuring the people they serve get a great experience.
The world — and the way we power our vehicles — is changing. But our commitment never will. It’s why the time is right for a new type of Transit, something that remains the backbone of commercial business while serving both our community and the environment. Never has there been a better time to realize that doing the right thing is good for business — ours and yours.
Tune in on Nov. 12 to see how Ford is leading the charge with the reveal of the zero-emission, all-electric E-Transit.
*Survey undertaken in partnership with Google across three key markets — U.S., U.K. and Germany, with 1,000 respondents in the U.S. and 1,000 respondents in the U.K. and Germany taking part in this independent study.
**Based on IHS Markit New Registrations data CY2014-CYE 2019, which is compiled from government and other sources and captures 95 percent of global new vehicle volumes in more than 80 countries as reported in February 2020. Transit family-based volumes of vans, wagons, chassis cabs and cutaways include Ford Transit, Transit Custom, Transit Classic and Transit Kombi. Excludes Transit Connect and Transit Courier.

5 Reasons to Take a One-Way Cab from Indore to Ujjain
Tumblr media
Ujjain is a city of great religious and historical significance in India. It is located in the central part of Madhya Pradesh, about 54 km from Indore. Taking a one-way cab from Indore to Ujjain can be an ideal way to get there for many reasons. Here are five reasons why taking a one-way cab might be the best option:
First, it’s cost-effective compared to other transportation options like trains or buses. Depending on where you’re coming from and how many people are traveling with you, taking a one-way cab could save money over public transport fares or even airfare if your destination isn't too far away! Additionally, cabs offer more flexibility than public transport as they allow passengers to travel at their own pace without having to worry about timetables or delays due to scheduling issues that may occur with other modes of transportation such as trains and buses.
Also Read: Cab Service in Indore
Secondly, it's convenient since most taxi services provide door-to-door service which means no need for extra transfers along the way that take up valuable time; this also eliminates any confusion associated with trying to figure out directions while on unfamiliar roads during your journey! Plus taxis often have comfortable seating arrangements so passengers can relax during their ride instead of being cramped up as they would be in some forms of mass transit vehicles (e.g., airplanes). Last but not least, safety should always come first when traveling - especially long distances - so choosing an experienced driver who knows all routes well will help ensure smooth sailing throughout your trip!
In conclusion, taking a one–way Cab from Indore to Ujjain has its advantages. Whether it's convenience, cost effectiveness, Comfortability, or safety; opting for this mode Of Transport Is a Great Choice for Any Traveler!
About the Author:

2020 Hyundai Kona review: An outstanding vehicle with standout styling

2020 Hyundai Kona review: An outstanding vehicle with standout styling
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Kona’s front end is busier than downtown Seoul at rush hour.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
Like pineapple as a pizza topping, you’ll either love the Hyundai Kona’s looks or not, and you can decide for yourself if it’s something you want to make monthly payments on. If, however, you’re firmly in the naysayer camp because of the design, that’s a shame because there is so much to like here.
Like
Strong real-world fuel economy
Friendly and useful tech
Nicely designed interior
Spunky performance
Don’t Like
Low-speed transmission judders
Engine sounds like death
Backseat is a little tight
I get it. This crossover’s styling is not for everyone. The Kona is a small vehicle with a lot of grille. That slitlike applique above the main opening looks like a complete afterthought. Those superangular lamp assemblies that house the daytime running lights are positively alien. And then there’s the dark-gray body cladding, which is always of questionable tastefulness. Personally, I don’t mind the Kona’s design and appreciate that Hyundai was willing to take a gamble here because some of this crossover’s rivals are pretty boring, like, waiting on hold with your internet service provider boring. Seriously, have you seen a Ford EcoSport?
To appeal to a broad range of drivers, the Hyundai Kona is offered in five trim levels, from entry-level SE to highfalutin’ Ultimate. My top-shelf all-wheel-drive tester rolls on stylish 18-inch alloy wheels, is fitted with standard LED headlights and features plenty of driver-assistance tech.
The Kona competes with other subcompact crossovers like the Honda HR-V and Nissan Kicks, though buyers are likely to also cross-shop Hyundai’s sister company’s Kia Soul, which has an identical wheelbase of 102.4 inches. All these vehicles, and several others including the Toyota C-HR and Chevy Trax, are a similar size, though this Hyundai is the shortest of that group at just 164 inches from hood to hatch.
Curiously, the C-HR’s extra length doesn’t translate into additional interior space. At 19.2 cubic feet, the Kona has 0.1 cubic foot more cargo capacity than the Toyota. Drop its backrest and that advantage grows significantly, with capacity topping out at 45.8 cubes compared with the C-HR’s 37 cubic feet. The HR-V, Kicks and Trax all offer more cargo space than the Kona, though Kia’s Soul is the hauling champion here, with 62.1 cubic feet of maximum space.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This vehicle’s backseat is comfortable, but a little more legroom would be appreciated.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
The Kona’s backseat is also on the tighter side, with a claimed 34.6 inches of legroom. That is enough space, though I do wish my knees had just a touch more breathing room. Noggin space, on the other hand, is excellent for my 6-foot frame.
Numbers aside, the remainder of this Hyundai’s cabin is beautifully crafted. The dashboard’s design is straightforward, plus there are plenty of nice materials. Rigid polymers are attractively grained and there’s a nice swath of soft plastic running across the dashboard. A similar material on the door uppers would be nice and much more elbow-friendly, but this is a budget-price vehicle, so you can’t expect it all. Interior storage space is decent for a smaller crossover. There’s a cubby ahead of the shifter that easily accommodates a phone, wallet and other small items. The bin underneath the center armrest is decently sized, though a few more nooks and crannies for storing junk might be nice.
My Kona Ultimate tester’s standard leather seating surfaces look great but feel more like vinyl than anything that was shucked off a living, breathing creature. Brightening up an otherwise inky-black interior are vibrant-green accents around the air vents, starter button, shifter base and even on the seats in the form of both piping and contrast stitching. These flourishes echo the exterior paint color my Kona is dressed in, a luminous hue called lime twist. This cornea-accosting paint is certainly not for everyone, but I think it really makes the Kona pop and is totally in keeping with its youthful demeanor. If you can’t handle green like this, a palette of other colors is offered, which includes the requisite black, white, silver and gray, but a searing orange and a denimlike blue are also on the menu.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a well-designed and nicely built interior.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
Ultimate models have an 8-inch tablet-style touchscreen that’s mounted high on the dashboard where it’s easy to reach. This display is home to a mostly likable infotainment system, one that’s relatively easy to use and quite responsive. It’s certainly one of the better offerings on the market today, especially since it has embedded navigation and includes an eight-speaker Infinity audio system. Higher-end versions of the Kona also feature a 4.2-inch reconfigurable screen in the meter cluster, which is where you can keep track of fuel economy and stay abreast of the lane-keeping system, among other things.
No matter the model, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. The same is true of lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning and a driver attention monitor. That lane-centering system is particularly excellent, almost as good as what Honda or Nissan offer. (Among mass-market manufacturers, their adaptive cruise-control and lane-centering systems are some of the best.) Stepping up the ladder, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring are included on all but the most basic Kona model. Finally, the Ultimate trim level is the only one that comes with automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control and a handy head-up display, which projects useful information like vehicle speed onto a separate combiner panel that pops up from the dashboard. If you don’t care to use this feature, that part folds out of the way at the push of a button.
Two powertrains are offered in the Kona. Lower-end models come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s good for 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, figures that compare very favorably with what’s offered in rival models. It’s paired with a conventional six-speed automatic transmission. Limited and Ultimate variants, however, feature a 1.6-liter turbo-four that’s appreciably more potent, churning out 175 hp and 195 lb-ft of twist. Front- or all-wheel drive is offered with either powertrain, a nice option to have. Rivals including the Kicks, C-HR and Soul do not offer this traction-enhancing feature.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Potent and efficient, the Kona’s drivetrain could be smoother.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
Those engine output figures may not look all that impressive, but the Kona’s force-fed four-cylinder delivers plenty of torque throughout its operating range, which helps this crossover accelerate with unexpected ease, though there is a trade-off: This is not the most pleasant powerplant ever built. It sounds sickly when pushed hard, like a connecting rod might liberate itself at any moment by punching a window in the cylinder block. This engine is also a bit on the buzzy side, at times impersonating a random-orbital sander by sending little tingles through the Kona’s structure.
The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is generally quick to change gears and it’s mostly smooth while going about its business. Overall, it’s a good unit, if not quite a great one. Multigear downshifts can take a second or so to manifest when you floor the accelerator, but thanks to that meaty torque band this is rarely necessary. The larger problem with this transmission is that it judders ever so slightly when taking off from a standstill. No, it doesn’t shake the vehicle, but you can feel the drivetrain quivering. Dual-clutch gearboxes have their benefits, but they almost never feel as smooth or responsive at low speeds as transmissions fitted with traditional torque converters.
Underway, the Kona is impressively refined. This crossover’s interior is well-defended against wind and road noise, the ride is well-isolated and its brake pedal is firm and easy to modulate. As for steering, it’s entirely pleasant, with a quick ratio that makes the vehicle feel light and maneuverable. The Kona is probably more enjoyable to drive than any of its major rivals, perhaps with the exception of Mazda’s CX-3. It should be far quicker than an HR-V or Trax, and its steering is orders of magnitude better than the Nissan’s, which is more standoffish than a moody teenager.
With turbocharged power under its hood and an all-wheel-drive system spinning each tire, my top-shelf Kona Ultimate is rated at 26 miles per gallon city and 29 mpg on the highway. Combined, it should return 27 mpg, a figure that’s woefully inaccurate. In real-world use I obliterated that figure, averaging a whisker less than 35 mpg in mixed driving, which is absolutely stellar.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Kona is an excellent small crossover.
Craig Cole/Roadshow
How much does this South Korean excellence cost? Eschew all options and you should be able to drive home in an entry-level Kona SE for around $21,440, a price that includes $1,140 in freight charges. This figure is very comparable to the base prices of many major rivals, though curiously, the most-basic Soul undercuts it by nearly three grand.
The Kona I’m evaluating here checks out for around $31,000 including destination fees. All-wheel drive adds $1,400 to the base price, that fancy green paint costs an additional $300 and carpeted floor mats further inflate the sticker by $155.
With turbocharged torque, an upscale interior and excellent driver-assistance tech, the 2020 Hyundai Kona is one of the best small crossovers you can buy today. Sure, it may be a little tighter inside than some of its rivals and the transmission could be better dialed in, but the rest of this vehicle is so compelling it’s easy to dismiss these minor faults. If you can’t live with the Kona’s styling, well, I guess that’s your loss.

Mahinda XUV 500
The in-house conceptualized and developed car was a departure from the usual DNA running on M&M product portfolio, by retaining the core strength associated with Mahindra cars. XUV boasted creature comforts of a car, coupled with go anywhere capability of an SUV, making the car famous among the car buying public. Most of the SUVs will never or very rarely thread their own paths. But the confidence that an SUV instills on our potholed infested roads and the imposing presence makes these genres of car a desirable object on wheels. It had many firsts from Mahindra, transversely mounted engine, front wheel drive and monocoque chassis etc., to name a few. XUV is not a jeep with car features bolted onto, yet it ticked all the right boxes what an aspirational middle class buyer wanted from a car. In-short a butch looking SUV with go anywhere capability without compromising on the creature comforts of any modern sedan.
Living With The Car
Yes, it’s a looker.
The car has a love it or hate it design and the Cheetah design, which definitely grows on you, in any case will attract attention.
No doubt it’s a BIG car with bulginess all over. Commanding driving position coupled with good visibility, makes graduation from a sedan or a hatchback to XUV not a herculean task. Interiors are interesting but there are rough patches all over. The 2015 upgrade has ironed many niggles but still the creases are not perfect. Front seats are supremely comfortable with good support all over. Car has acres of interior space unlike the Scorpio especially in the first and second rows. It’s a proper seven seater with decent leg room even in the third row. But it’s better to limit the usage of the third row for children or strictly for short distances. The car is loaded with bucket loads of features like key less entry, push button start-stop, auto climate control and  tyre-tronics to name a few.
Car is powered by M&M’s 2.2 Liter 16 V mHAWK doing duties on the Scorpios but in a different state of tune and dishing put 140 bhp. It’s one of the most powerful motors in the segment and wanting of more power will not be on top of your list. Refinement is good, yet the engine sound coupled with other mechanical cacophony, sweeps into the cabin in the higher revs.
Mahindra have come a long way in the handling department, for the size and high Centre of Gravity, the car has decent handling capabilities. But always keep in mind that you are driving an SUV and not a low slung race car.
Being a diesel along with decent mileage figures which hovers in the range of 10-14 KMPL (depending on the highway/city and how hard you drive) fuel costs are kept under check.
The first service is at 5,000 Kms or 3 months and henceforth every 10,000 Kms. Mahindra comes with three free services valid up to 20,000 kilometers or 2 years whichever comes first. Being a Mahindra customer, you can be assured of reasonable costs for spares as well as service. XUV 500 has warranty coverage for 2 years/ 65,000 Kms, whichever occurs earlier. There is also an optional extended warranty scheme offered by Mahindra known as the shield warranty. This covers the following.
Engine Parts
Transmission System
Cooling System
Steering System
Fuel System
Suspension
Electrical System (factory-fitted)
Chassis System
Engine Oil Specification: SAE 15W-40 API rating exceeding CH-4 (Quantity: 6 Liters)
This does not include extra labor cost and consumable spare parts like brake pads and clutch plates etc.
Mahindra XUV 500 Spare Parts Prices (Consumables)
Cabin AC Pollen filter: Rs 1000
Front Brake Pad: Rs 4400/-
Clutch Plate assembly with flywheel : Rs 20000
Engine Oil ( 6.0 lit): Rs 1750
Engine oil Filter : Rs 180
Fuel Filter: Rs 1500
Being a Mahindra product, it has its own advantages and disadvantages. XUV 500 has some niggles and it doesn’t age perfectly. Cabin rattles starts up early in the life cycle of the car, though the same can be fixed up during the scheduled services.
Though the service is cheap and easily available the service experience with most of the customers cannot be termed pleasant. XUV 500 is the first car from Mahindra loaded with lots of electronic and electrical stuffs, as they are prone to throw some issues. Customers have faced some teething issues from the infotainment system, tyre-tronics and door open alerts etc. Car pulling to sides while driving straight and off center steering are common. Many felt that being plonked with a potent engine, Mahindra should have put better brakes on the XUV and premature brake pad wear was reported by some customers surveyed. We came across some customers whose clutch gave up early as 7,000-10,000 Kms. We remember same clutch plate plagued some Mahindra Scorpios too.
Total Cost of Ownership
Mahindra XUV500 was launched in September 2011. The total cost of ownership includes the following expenses incurred by the owner.
Depreciation: Like most of the cars, XUV also depreciates highest in the first year. Interestingly we observed increased depreciation in the fourth year, this can be attributed to the recent new launches and also 2015 upgrade for the XUV 500.
Insurance Costs (Savings on NCB not taken into account)
Periodic maintenance and spares associated
Parts like tyres, battery, brake pads, clutch etc considering normal usage
No major repair works, accident costs and interest costs are taken into consideration
Verdict
It’s a perfect blend of car and an UV retaining SUV look with comfortness of a car. Of course there are many rough edges, it’s a commendable effort put up by the homegrown manufacturer and from the sales charts it’s evident that their efforts has paid off well. The car continues to do good well in the sales chart, despite competition in the form of Dusters, Terranos, Ecosports and the recently launched Cretas. Launch of these wannabe SUVs put the XUV case further stronger. In terms of sheer value, practicality and road presence XUV is leaps and bounds ahead of them. It’s not a wannabe but a true blue UV with a perfect blend of sportiness and ruggedness to take on that occasional trip Off the Road.

Expect More Off-Roaders and Electrified Vehicles from Ford (Yes, Including the Mustang Hybrid)
-Ford is taking $7 billion from what it spends on cars and refocusing that capital on SUVs and trucks. That makes sense, especially in the United States, where people have been turning away from cars in favor of higher-riding vehicles. But it sounds as though North America’s share of that new investment will be a little more exciting than simply adding more car-based crossovers and calling them SUVs, especially for those who enjoy a good two-track.
-
Jim Farley, Ford’s president of global markets, said that the automaker will play to its regional strengths as part of its future-product strategy. In North America, that means developing more nameplates in what he called the “authentic, off-road capable” category. “It’s really credible for Ford and a real opportunity for us to grow even faster,” Farley said.
-
In press materials, the automaker noted that the redeployed capital will also go toward the new Ranger pickup (Ranger Raptor spy photo shown above) and EcoSport compact crossover for North America, as well as for the all-new Bronco globally. The Ranger will make its North American re-debut for the 2019 model year, and the Bronco will follow in 2020.
-
In the car segment, Farley said Ford is repositioning products in some markets toward lower-volume, higher-revenue sub-segments. As an example, he pointed to the Focus, which will have all its production shifted to China but will still be sold in the United States. The Focus and Fiesta will both be moving upmarket in Europe.
-
Ford will also reduce the money it spends on internal-combustion engines by a third and redeploy that capital to electrification. That’s on top of a previously announced $4.5 billion investment. The automaker plans to deliver 13 new electrified vehicles in the next five years, including F-150 and Mustang hybrids, a Transit Custom plug-in hybrid, a Ford Police Responder hybrid sedan, a hybrid autonomous vehicle, and a fully electric small SUV. It is also setting up a dedicated electrification team called Team Edison.
-
As for other trucks, Farley said, Ford will double down on both its commercial vehicles, which will be the foundation of its mobility services, and on its stalwart F-series lineup.
-
Outside North America, Ford will focus more on utility vehicles, as Farley said the company has found success there with “styled, on-road performance.” In Europe, the focus will be more on the asphalt-friendly “urban-utility products,” he said. And in Asia, specifically China, Ford will be expanding its utility lineup to include more in the value-driven “C-plus” segment as well as on larger, three-row SUVs.

Ford’s long-term goal is an 8 percent automotive operating margin (it was at about 6.7 percent in 2016). To do that, it will need to reduce costs, and part of the reduction will come from cutting its automotive-cost rate of growth by half through 2022. It will trim engineering costs by $4 billion by increasing the use of common parts across its full line of vehicles, while at the same time reducing order complexity. Overall, Ford will eventually have fewer nameplates, but no specifics were given at the investor event as to which of its current models might be put out to pasture.
