Sometimes I just get hit with the fact that the gods exist and they're everywhere and everything and there's a god for that and it just fills me with so much love and happiness

I actually think it is 100% valid to strip a title when a kid leaves a studio - in fact, I think it would be best if it weren't up to the teacher, and happened automatically at the hands of the competition. It is illogical and also disrespectful to win a title under one studio and use it under another. That is like ascribing the credit for your win to your new teachers, despite the fact that they contributed exactly zero to your title win.
I see what you mean and I do agree with some parts.
However, winning a title is first and foremost an accomplishment for a particular dancer, not a whole studio. Yes, it's the studio's training that got them there, but it's also the commitment to the training of the dancers themselves. Otherwise it would mean that one studio would have all the title winners all the time, since they technically all get the same training. (hope the wording on this makes sense, English isn't my first language)
and then you have to consider the reasons one might leave after winning a title for. Because in the case of danceplex, stripping dancers of their titles would just be unfair since they had not part in any decision whatsoever.
Also, in Dyllan's case, it was clear that there was some sort of drama going on beforehand, with molly unfollowing everyone and throwing a tantrum at nationals. You cannot and should not expect someone to stay in a toxic and maybe abusive situation for a year, simply to keep a title. People always underestimate the toll those situations can take on the mental health of young people, and I think mental health is a topic we should speak about more, especially in the dance community.
For other dancers, there might also be reasons like the parents having to move somewhere else, sudden changes in the living situation regarding money etc.
But I do think that switching studios right after winning a little is icky, I just also believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt and making exceptions for good reasons.

@modernmaenad you tagged me in a thing and it was IN MY DRAFTS OMG
Nickname: dd, dyllan, zombie
Height: 170cm. I think. I think it says 175 on my ID because I didn’t know and I was wearing shoes with the dude at the Ausländerbehörde measured me
Last thing I Googled: oh great question I have no clue. Oh. I looked up how to get an item in Fallen London. I know for a fact though the next thing I’ll google is a F-C temperature conversion because I’m about to make magic cookie bars
Song stuck in my head: currently Carol of the Bells but there’s a Moonspell song playing in the background I think not sure which one though yes songs can play in the background of other songs in my head it’s weird
Amount of followers: oh idk I think I finally broke 100 though
Dream job: I’m in my want to garden and hang out with my dog era
Wearing: jeans and a long-sleeved shirt. And funky socks!
A book/movie that summarizes you: you know I was going to say there isn’t one but Jim Henson’s The Labyrinth
Favorte song: why would you make me choose a favourite song I just want guys to yell at me in languages I don’t speak (yet)
Aesthetic: not sure I really have one. my gut reaction was bog witch but that’s more of a desire than an actuality
Favorite author: Brent Weeks. The Night Angel Trilogy was such a good debut and then bitch followed it up with The Lightbringer Series with that FUCKING PLOT TWIST. So good.
Random fact: ummmm what’s a fun random fact. Like about me or in general? Because in general my favourite random facts are random etymologies that live in my head rent free. A random fact about me personally is that I change my hair on the reg. Like... since I keep my hair short (usually less than an inch) I just bleach it and dye it random colours because it’ll get shaved off again within a month or two. Currently it’s dark pink & purple splatter but I also have lime green, blue green, bright blue, neon pink, & fluorescent yellow dye hanging out in my bathroom. The neon pink glows under UV light, as does the yellow and if you mix the yellow with a little green the green glows too!

Note
I think they meant Dyllan doesn’t training like heavily in ballet like crystal huang or Izzy Howard. P21 dancers are required I think like six hours of ballet a week or something like that.
ohhhh
i mean i can't really speak on that but im assuming her technique scores were high enough to get her to where she is now so
also not everyone wants to train like a prima and that's okay !!

Classically trained. I try to write music that speaks to me. Even if it's not the heaviest. That said, once I finish up this album, I will dive right into the next. The next one is planned to be much heavier and thrash driven. A couple more releases left for this one then on to the next.
"Blood in the water" is the official demo that will be the first track. Cheers fuckers!!!

I am asking this with nothing but love and good intention in my heart but... are the kids not getting taught how to research anymore? In a few tags I follow I see people, usually teens, asking questions that I’ve been able to find answers to relatively easily. Now I know I’m an academic and research is kind of what I do, so I try to factor that in, but even accounting for that... I remember when I was in my preteens having a class period or two devoted to learning how to make my way around a library and how to search on the library computers for a topic; then later in my teens we learned how to research on the internet, JSTOR, etc., including how to determine if a website was a valid source or not.
I’m not saying this as a “pfff kids these days” but as a “wait is that not something they’re being taught anymore?!!!” because while I definitely don’t expect anyone younger than me to be able to use a card catalogue, not knowing how to effectively use a search engine... That would be concerning, especially since so many adults tell the next gen to just look it up, or to educate themselves, but how can they if no one tells them how to do that

Present Future Retroactive: Vol. 3
Tumblr media
The internet is a vast and wonderful place, and sometimes we’ve let freshly-minted singles cool off over time. However, in this economy of speed and scale, it doesn’t make their music any less worthy. In short, a great record is a great record. Besides who doesn’t love to reminiscence of better times? Ah, the nostalgia! Covering the freshly-minted and its relative like, we revisit some of our favorites, and among them you might recognize a few familiar faces.
Caoilfhionn Rose - Being Human
A track from her debut record “Awaken” written with Gondwana Records’ Matthew Halsall, Manchester aritst Caoilfhionn Rose (pronounced in Irish Gaelic as “Keelin Rose”), shares her personal favorite “Being Human”. Written about appreciating the people that make her feel peaceful and happy, Caoilfhionn filmed the video for her track at Fletcher Moss Park nearby where she grew up. Echoing the warm, billowy sentiment of her loving words and reassuring coax, the guitar guitar glide and harp-like flutter of the track is complimented by the visual setting of where she finds inspiration and solace.

DYLLAN - Devotion
Dylan Nichols, artistically known as Dyllan, doesn’t need your pity or praise as witnessed through track “Devotion”. A slow and smoky number that kindles to it breathy sultriness in sound, soft, muted tones collide with the cutting words from Nichols’ lips. With the title of her latest EP embedding in the lyrics of “Devotion”, you can check the formative track which underlines her latest record “I’m Not Your Goddess”:

Livia Blanc - Room 405
Recalling the day of France’s yé-yé “genre”, French-born and Tahiti-raised Livia Blanc imports her bilingual pop prose with track “Room 405″. Contrasting the jubilant horns and childlike squee of its twee-pop burst, Livia Blanc wanted to raise a little hell with a murderous rampage in her latest video:

O Future - Telephone
A little bit of mood music from the duo formerly known as OOFJ, O Future describes track  their track as literally about “not having enough friends, hating phone calls and lying down on heavy carpets”. A good and spicy phone call from a new lover, “Telephone” means a slow and sultry jazz that swelters to the heat of its vocalist Katherine Mills’ perspiring breathlessness:

Pencey Sloe - All OK
Written out of a desire to be somebody else; someone that would only exist in our dreams, Diane Pellotieri of France’s Pencey Sloe writes “All OK”. Shadowing the theme of its dreamy disillusionment, the track interviews the ethereal sustain of its heavenly vocals with the heavy dredge of a shoegazing flourish:

Sara Kays - No Matter the Season
In an age of manufactured realities, it’s refreshing to hear such honest and heartfelt lyricism. Though seemingly inconspicuous at first Sara Kays’ “No Matter the Season” which seemingly centers around wearing baggy sweaters at first evolves into the deeper issue of body image. Visceral lyrics coupled by a raw, organic vocal and a timeless guitar acoustic reinforce her sentiment on her standout single:

Slow Shudder - Off the Rails
Slow Shudder is the personification of Miami-born but now Seattle-based artist Amanda Mayo who made her debut with EP “Off the Rails”. With its title track as its marquee single, the track combines a glitchy, trip-hop tone with the rosy-twee of its billowy vocal:

Twin Ritual - Norma Jean
Twin Ritual is a San Diego indie-rock quartet fronted by its vocalist/keyboardist Laura Levenhagen and her accommpanying bandmates Anthony Ramirez, Michael Buehl and Antonia Estrada. Sharing “Norma Jean” a follow-up from debut EP “Hand Through the Mist”, Twin Ritual’s track guns with revving riffs and a dreamy new-wave feel. With its dark, mysterious vocals speaking a sultry tone to the red-hot heat of chafing guitars, “Norma Jean” is a retro-futuristic scorcher.

The Zero Won - Rooftop (feat. Sma Rag Da)
A collaborative first, Greek collective The Zero Won invite Sma Rag Da (Smaragda Alexandri) on track “Rooftop”. Off their single “Changed” their B-side pipes with its quirky synth flex. Working over the gooey tones of its percolating synths to compliment the shimmery vocal gloss of their invitee’s sound, “Rooftop” is an ultra fun, quirky disco track:

Dear Dyllan,
remember the time we met and you made all the promises you’ve broken?
“I will never hurt you.” We’ve been together for nearly a year and you’ve been hurting me every time something didn’t go the way you wanted. You made me cry so many times but I always stayed. I stayed when you pushed me against the wall and broke my phone, I stayed when I was crying so much I couldn’t breathe because of some stupid thing you said, I stayed when you couldn’t be arsed dealing with your bestie who said I was ugly, even though you saw how much it hurt me. I even stayed after you dumped me with no reason because I believed that you’re worth fighting for.
“I will not leave you hanging after we have sex, I’m not that kind of a guy.” I went to your house because I was broken. I didn’t know what day it is and I didn’t even know what’s going on. I had sex with you because you seemed lost and I thought you’re trying to turn your brain off because we always had a good sex and this might help. After I’ve done everything you asked me for, I thought you would accept that we love each other and that’s all that matters. How stupid was that of me to think that there is a one guy in this dirty world who wouldn’t hurt girls just for the fun of it and for his own benefit. Yet you started ghosting me without giving me a simple answer, are we together or not?
“I will never lie to you.” This is what was the biggest lie you made me believe in. You lied about your exes, you lied about the girls who were texting you, you lied about money and stupid little things you thought I’d give you shit for. Why would I do that if you were honest with me? I thought you know me, I thought you know I am trustworthy after I gave you all my trust, after I shared all my hopes and fears and all my troubles. I did that because I thought I knew you, I thought you’re the kind of man I will marry one day because why should we otherwise bother with love if it never lasts? I guess I was wrong, again.
By breaking all these promises you broke me. You’re trying to keep me hanging because you think I will always come back because to me it’s all worthy. I don’t even know anymore.  I came to your house to make things right, what did you do? Went out to get fucked off your face. Than you fuck me like there’s no tomorrow but the day after we’re not together again. You won’t answer my calls, you won’t reply to my messages, you don’t try at all while I’m doing all the work.
I know this is bigger than you. I know you might be dying but now, I refuse to do anything to help you. I was begging you on my knees just for a stupid talk and you couldn’t even do that. You rather went straight to your friends and got high on phet because it helps you not to think. But who cares how bad my life is now, right? It’s all about Dyllan and his voices in head. It’s all about Dyllan and him not knowing what he wants, him not being able to think. Who cares if his girlfriend wants to help even though she’s lost in time, she doesn’t know what day it is, she doesn’t know if it’s day or night and she cries and cries. Who cares about her. Who cares if she spent the past week crawling back and trying to get your attention because she was too hurt to think and she would literally do the craziest shit because she didn’t know what she was doing.
I found myself sitting in front of your house, waiting for you for three fucking hours, not knowing why am I doing this, just knowing that I’m too down to leave because I thought I need you.
The thing is, I don’t. I keep telling myself I do but I still remember being alone, I still remember how single life was good for me, how I had time for everything I wanted to do. It hurts me a lot to think we’re never gonna be the way we were, it hurts me a lot knowing that all of this was a lie and you never really loved me because you don’t do this to people you love.
I gave you one last chance because I thought you want it. Not because I wanted it. I was doing pretty alright after a few days. It hurts but time is a healer and tomorrow I know I’m feeling fine. I thought that after the talk about breaking promises, you would keep this one. You would come here and be willing to talk. How stupid of me was that, I knew you were fucked and I know it takes you like a week to get better after doing the shit you were doing, because I did it for you once. I never wanted, you know I’m more of a weed person and when it comes to party drugs, I go for cocaine because it’s not that harmful. I did it for you so you had fun on your birthday and so I could be there and have the fun with you. Everything I did, I was always doing for you because I thought I would make you happy. But you never were. I was never good enough for you to make you happy. I believed I am the one who’s sometimes full of shit doing things for you, telling you what you want to hear even when I didn’t mean it. For example how you forced me to say that I love you. But I did it, I wanted you to be happy, even when I wasn’t ready. I did so many things I wasn’t ready for and I thought, this is fine because you won’t know what’s going on in my head. But all this time it was you who was full of shit. You said “I love you” too early because these words have no meaning for you. Because you needed a girl. Because you didn’t want to be alone.
You made me stay with you every day, every night, just so you could cut me off and not speak to me because you need some space. Different rules when I needed to be alone and when I needed some space, right?
I took you to my family because I thought you’re worth it. I thought this is right and I wanted them to meet you. You disappointed not just me, but also my mother, my sister and I guess even my father, who will want to shoot your head of when he finds out about this.
Correct me if I’m wrong but it seems to me all of this was just some stupid game for you and you never really loved me. It seems to me like you don’t care about anyone but yourself and you did this to trick me into thinking we could be forever. That you’re kinda boosting your ego by telling everyone you dumped me on the day you did it when I couldn’t get out of the bed, you stayed active texting my friends how we broke up.
This is the only way how it makes sense to me. Because I don’t know how else would I deserve to be treated this way. After so many times you were violent to me (even though you never hurt me) and I stayed, after all the night we fell out and I stayed because you asked me to. Now I asked you to stay and you rather went to get fucked and tried to forget me. After forcing me to be with you every fucking day, every minute and every second, so some random guy wouldn’t be able to text me when you’re not looking, suddenly you cut me off, thinking I’ll be better of without you when I was getting used to being around you because we were supposed to live together. You broke everything I built. Because we together didn’t build anything, I did because I blindly believed that you loved me.
All your exes deserved to be begged to come back to you, except for me.
There’s too many things on my mind that I can’t even say them all. I can just say that this was the last drop and now I’m starting to move on. I wanted to help you with your issues, I really did. Either as a friend or a girlfriend but I did, you just didn’t let me. And this isn’t worth it. I was a strong woman once, I can be one again.
With or without you.
I loved you once, I still do and I always will, maybe one day I’ll look at your picture and I will only remember the good things. But I need time to forgive you. Maybe you’ll be one of the magic boys that I have never forgiven tho.
Love,
used to be yours,  Sheepa
