I have no idea where this bonkers time traveling tale is going but I am entertained the whole way and also you could do way worse for a sexy manservant than Kim Min Joon.

See You in My 19th Life is tinged with such sadness, it makes me cry every episode. how she hugs her niece. how she strokes her sister's hair. how she dances with her mom. Shin Hye Seon is so so good (so is the girl playing Joo Won).
Durian's Affair, on the other hand, this incredibly makjang-y mess, seems like a perfect foil to it. i didn't get most of what happened in the first episode, but that confession scene sent me, it was so unexpected and hilarious, i mean, it should be sad too but come on :D i'm going to follow it while it's entertaining. also, my man Kim Min Joon is in it

i know better than to expect sanity from a makjang time travel drama and, in all fairness, sanity i didn't get. still, after the first couple of episodes, i was like, ohhh are we in for a gay awakening of a septuagenarian woman because i'm here for it. idk what was wrong with me. no, we were in for a homophobic stereotype. it was actually painful to watch (at least when i still cared), all the more so that the actress playing the infatuated daughter-in-law is gorgeous, i'd totally have my own gay awakening with her.
the rest is of course the kind of crazy that comes with the territory. and soooo slooooooow. 2x playback speed is not enough. not to mention the titular character's perennially sorrowful expression that made me want to punch her in the face. why was i watching it? well, when it became clear the gay awakening wasn't happening, a hetero may/december romance happened out of nowhere instead and (if you discount the fact that it was probably the narrative way to punish the predatory and possibly mentally unwell lesbian) it was too cute.
