What do you write in the notebooks you read during practice?
Everything: my feelings about the car and the things I want to try on the track. I get lots of ideas so I write them down so I don’t forget them.
And I write them down in pen so I’m sure I can find them again because before I used to use an app on my tablet that often erased everything.

Carlos/Charles
nsfw: worthy is the lamb (thank you for the price you paid) by @7msc | E | 12.4k Charles and his relationship with Ferrari, and everything that entails. This is such a beautifully written fic - so packed full of metaphors and beautiful imagery, it's awful to read in the absolute best way. Amazing writing!
'Oh, but Charles was sweet and cute and small and didn’t make your teeth hurt when you chewed him — so he giggled a little at the gesture, and it made Carlos’ smile look even bigger.'
Carlos/Lando
nsfw: watch this space, I'm open to falling from grace by @wolfiemcwolferson | E | 12.1k Lando gets a new neighbour - nothing is as it seems. This story is incredible! The world building is fantastic, and the pace and tension building make this a very consuming read. I didn't stop once! I loved this.
'Carlos laughs nervously, as he walks far enough into the apartment to turn around and wait for Lando, hands on his hips. “I think you are just trying to scare me. Perhaps you have orchestrated this to get me into your apartment.”'
Charles/Seb
nsfw: sanctuary by @sunshinesebby | E | 196.4k (ongoing) Charles gets lost in the snow, and is taken in by a strange man. This story is a masterpiece! So beautifully written and paced. I started reading it and couldn't stop. The story is haunting. Gorgeous!
'He was a dead man walking. Soon the mountain would devour and hollow him out too and when it did, he wanted to taste as foul as possible. He wanted it to choke on him.'
Charles/Pierre
Hic Svnt Leones by @cerona10 | M | 32.1k Charles is different to how Pierre remembers him. The world-building in this fic is second to none - it's absolutely stunning! The world feels so full and alive, and it's easy to get completely sucked in. I am in awe at this author's imagination, creativity, and mind!
'His shadow isn’t his own, not anymore. It shakes and shimmers, fighting against its own shape. His shadow’s head twists and breaks before mending itself into that of a horse, neighing and trashing, a single horn jutting out from its forehead. Its jaw unhinges and it begins breathing heavily, drool escaping its mouth like a waterfall.'
nsfw: evocatio by @vicsy | E | 34.7k In a world with Gods and Goddesses, Charles and Pierre get closer. This fic reads like poetry - it is stunning. The imagery used is so vivid and colourful, and the angst is delicious. Loved it!
'Through the continuous noise, Charles can almost make out words that aren’t meant for him to be heard. It’s a language he doesn’t recognize, can’t discern a single word, a sudden voice booming like a gong.'
Multiple Pairings
nsfw: F1 Supernatural Series by fluffybeet | M - E | 176k (ongoing) Daniel/Max, Charles/Pierre, Carlos/Lando, Alex/George, Lewis/Seb The Grid, with a supernatural twist. This is such a fantastically written story - the world-building is amazing, the suspense and tension is incredible, and the characterisation is some of my favourite!
The shadows up ahead shifted, just enough for the uneasiness to creep in, but still so little that he wondered if his eyes were playing tricks on him.

topic: clace, charles' clothing line
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a 2019 Italian interview with Motorsport.com, Charles reveals that he's about to kick off his own clothing line. Later that month, he elaborates on his vision:
"I’m starting a fashion company and I’m committed to looking for eco-friendly materials to replace what was previously made of plastic. In the past I wouldn’t have thought of it, but today there is a greater awareness of these issues!”
source: motorsport.com
This would be discussed further in an ESPN article:
Between races he has started dedicating some of his spare time to developing a fashion brand. If that sounds familiar, it’s probably because Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has been working with Tommy Hilfiger for the past year to develop his own collection of clothes. Leclerc says that his plans are not yet on the same scale but that he is looking to build his brand as a project alongside his racing.
"It’s only something that I enjoy doing when I’m at home with the small time I have,” he said. “I do it with the people who are helping me with this project, and that’s it. For now, it is only the start. Lewis is doing an amazing job with his collection, and it is getting bigger and bigger for him. But for me, for now, it is only a small project and it is only the beginning.”
Unlike Hamilton, Leclerc is not penning the designs himself. “I tried for the first month, but I decided if I wanted a successful thing to leave it to someone who does it better!”
source: espn.com
Charles is photographed over the next few months wearing prototypes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then... nothing. The line is never launched. During a COVID livestream, Charles says: "'When is CLACE coming out?' For now it's not coming out. For some reasons I can't. But maybe we can manage to do something else, even more interesting. We'll see." Anyway, Seb-- in his unemployed manic pixie driver stage-- is quick to set the record straight. In a Drive to Survive episode, Seb manhandles a blushing Charles as he explains that Ferrari and their sponsors shut it down:

Charles races as a Ferrari driver for the first time in Australia.
Charles is told to keep position at the end of the race, even though Binotto had previously said the two Ferrari drivers would be free to fight. The use of team orders like this would be a reoccurring issue for the Monegasque, creating a tension between Seb and Charles that would come to define the season.

The Russian GP ends in conflict between drivers as Seb ignores teams orders at Charles' expense. Tensions are so high that Ferrari puts out a press release on Seb racing go-karts and talking to Binotto at the factory a few days later; unusual, but seemingly part of a plan to make it look like everyone is getting along.

Today in Chontent: February 15th (2019)
Charles has his first car launch as a driver for Ferrari. The SF90, named to commemorate the manufacturer's 90th anniversary, is revealed in Maranello.
Sebastian: It's gonna be my fifth year, uh, together with the Scuderia. So, I think racing for Ferrari, the expectations are always there to win and that's what we, what we all want. Obviously, we've, I think, uh, come close, uh, some years, a bit further away some other years. But overall, I think we're getting, getting closer, the team is still growing. So, uh, high hopes and I hope we're gonna have a lot of fun and, uh, win a lot of races and fight for the championship. Obviously, there's been a lot of changes this year with the new Team Principal, uh, a new driver alongside me. But, uh, you know, in both cases, people that I knew from the past, so I'm looking forward to, to the future. I think, uh, you know, we are still growing as a team and, uh, hopefully we can use, uh, you know, the momentum, uh, and make sure that we do the final step in order to, to be even more competitive. So, uh, it won't be a problem because I know them, I'm sure and I'm looking forward to it. Charles: Ferrari has always been a very special place for me, uh, because for years, I've been part of the FDA that helped me to, uh, build as a driver, uh, mentally and physically and uh, with the ultimate goal to join their team, which happened this year and which is a dream come true since child, I, I've always looked at the, at the red car hoping to be there one day. And it's um, yeah, it's the realization of a, of a, of a dream. So it's amazing and I will keep pushing forward to have the best result possible in the future. It's a great opportunity for me to have Sebastian as my teammate. Obviously, he has a lot of experience in the sport and I can definitely learn a lot from him. So it will be a big challenge for me. But I think the most important is that we work together to try and achieve the best results possible for the team, which I'm pretty sure we will, we have a very good relationship together. We don't know each other yet very well. But obviously, we will, uh, during the whole season. Uh and, and yeah, I can't wait to work with them.

With Ferrari having elected not to retain Kimi Raikkonen in 2019, Vettel will have a new teammate for the first time since he joined the Scuderia at the start of 2015.
But while Leclerc’s natural speed is obvious, he does lack F1 experience with only this season with Sauber under his belt – and that is why Vettel thinks it would be a mistake if the pair locked horns in a fight for internal supremacy.
“It’s going to be different for sure, because Charles is not Kimi and Kimi is not Charles,” said Vettel, in an exclusive interview with Motorsport.com.
“He is young, so he will have a lot on his head and a lot of things in his mind. So I think for the team we need to work together on track.
“I am sure he wants to beat me, [and] I want to beat him, the rules are clear. It was the same with Kimi. But I think the key is that we work together and, as I said, he will have a lot things going on in his head.
“I am his teammate, so I am also here to help. I am the last one that is trying to hide or playing any games or anything like that. That is why I think I get along very well with Kimi, because in this regard we are very similar. So we will see.”
Although Raikkonen’s failure to convince Ferrari to keep him for 2019 could have prompted him to walk away from F1, a deal with Sauber means he will continue racing into his forties.
Vettel says he is sceptical about extending his own career to such an age.
“Well, its another 10 years from now to go as long as Kimi,” he said. “It is a long time. It’s as long as I've been here, so now its half time basically. I don't know.
“We're looking at 400 grands prix... in total. I don't know, you should never say never, but maybe not. I don't know. Depends, you know. If I win the next 10 years with Ferrari, than yeah, why not?”

title: "formel 1, leclerc verrät: das habe ich von vettel gelernt" / formula 1, leclerc reveals: i learned that from vettel source: motorsport-magazin author(s): carina teifelhard & christian menath format: interview (german) season: 2022, f1

[...] Charles Leclerc saw a lot from the four-time world champion at the beginning of his Ferrari career. Because Vettel has been driving here for the Scuderia for four years. "I learned a lot of things from him, especially at this point in my career, when I was very young, it was good to have an experienced driver like Seb by my side," said the Ferrari driver in an interview with Motorsport-Magazin .com
Despite Vettel's move to Aston Martin, the two former teammates remain in contact. "We don't send each other messages every week, but if something comes up, we always write to each other," says Leclerc about his relationship with the four-time world champion.
Tumblr media
After joining the Ferrari team, he was particularly irritated by the work philosophy of the Heppenheimer. "When I came from Alfa Romeo, I arrived relaxed in the morning and he had been in the office for an hour and a half," said the Ferrari driver. "The first time I asked myself: Why is he doing this? What does he need so much time for?"
Today Leclerc has adopted this habit. "Now I arrive pretty early and leave very late," said the Monegasse. The teammates at the time spent a total of two seasons together. Leclerc had a lot of time to learn from Vettel.
"With more experience and the more I talked to him, I saw that there are small details that I didn't pay attention to at the beginning - but he does. That made a difference. He's the hardest worker in the Formula 1 paddock, for sure," said Leclerc.
Vettel's approach doesn't seem to have changed at Aston Martin either, and shortly before the end of his career. "We had to throw him out of the office last night, otherwise he would still have been there, studying data and seeing where things could be changed," revealed team boss Mike Krack in Mexico.

title: "seb and charles on the monza sp2" source: ferrari magazine, photographed by amy shore format: article season: 2019, f1
For Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc life isn’t all-work-and-no-play. In May the two Scuderia Ferrari piloti were at Maranello for a meeting with Team Principal Mattia Binotto and the team’s engineers. When their official business was finished the two drivers chanced upon a brand new Ferrari Monza SP2 and asked if they could take the car for a spin. Getting up front and personal with a Monza SP2, with its magnetic appeal, isn’t something that happens every day. The Monza SP1 and SP2 are the very first models in an extremely limited series - only 499 will be built - baptised Icona and inspired by the most important and iconic moments of Ferrari history.
The car that Vettel and Leclerc got to drive was an extraordinary example, a brand new SP2 ‘dressed’ in a livery celebrating the 290 MM driven by Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1956 Mille Miglia. The two piloti took the Monza along the undulating roads snaking their way through the rolling countryside around Maranello. The atmosphere was relaxed and humorous. When the drivers stopped for some photographs and to swap seats we snatched the opportunity for a quick chat about what racing for the Scuderia, which celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, means to them.
"I think that part of what makes driving for Ferrari so special is knowing you are one part in this incredible story,” says Vettel, who is in his fifth year with the Scuderia’s Formula 1 team. “When you put on an overall with the Prancing Horse on its breast, you know you are more than just a driver, you are an ambassador for the brand and that makes you even prouder still.”
Leclerc, a Ferrari Driver Academy graduate whose title win in Formula 2 in his maiden season in 2017 was followed by an extraordinarily powerful debut in Formula 1 in 2018 that earned him the second seat in the SF90 – couldn’t agree more: “My adventure with the Scuderia has only just begun,” he says. “But from day one, I realised it was a genuinely unique team with an unparalleled history. It’s hard not to get a shiver down your spine when you get behind the wheel of a Ferrari.” Leclerc also explained how his personal life has been affected since he joined the Scuderia: “People stop me in the street now to congratulate me and I have to say it’s really great.”
Vettel is a huge fan of the marque’s history and well versed in all the facts and figures. He is impressed with how Enzo’s passion and inspiration “are qualities which are still alive in Ferrari today with the great pride, care and attention with which cars – road cars and our F1 cars – are built. There is a unique, emotional connection with Ferrari, whether you work in the factory, are a Ferrari owner, or a driver for the Scuderia, where one is always aware of the responsibility that comes with being associated with the Prancing Horse. It is a responsibility I am privileged to have.”
Back at the Gestione Sportiva, Leclerc shares his impressions of the Monza SP2. “Getting into this Ferrari is a bit like diving into the past: it’s extreme, uncompromising, but bursting with technologies which, as is so often the case, were tested in competition. I don’t think anyone can match Ferrari in terms of the huge technological transfer from its racing cars to its road cars.” The car’s design also sets it apart. Designed by Maranello’s in-house Centro Stile, the Monza SP2  - boasting incredibly pure and elegantly minimalist forms that started out as little more than a single pencil stroke - stops time by uniting tradition and cutting-edge technology in the name of Ferrari, just as the Scuderia’s Formula 1 drivers do when they mix speed with genius in the Prancing Horse’s name.

Meanwhile, Charles about those long debriefs:
“Sometimes I’m just here listening for one hour what [Seb] has to say about the session. He’s just very, very interesting.”
title: "Leclerc discusses value of Vettel at Ferrari" source: planetf1 author: mark scott format: article season: 2020, f1
Tumblr media
Charles Leclerc has said he was able to “learn a lot” from Sebastian Vettel in 2019 despite their on-track clashes throughout the season.
Leclerc took the fight to Vettel straight from the get-go during his first season with the Scuderia, resulting in Vettel losing his No.1 status and both drivers being treated on equal terms.
That led to a handful of on-track squabbles between the pair, culminating in a costly crash in Brazil which ended the race of both drivers.
Vettel’s future at Ferrari is in doubt as he enters the final year of his current contract, but Leclerc has revealed what Vettel’s experience has brought to the team and how he has been able to learn from it.
“I learned a lot, really a lot,” Leclerc said at the Autosport International show.
“I mean, he’s extremely professional, and he’s going a lot into the details. And Seb, he’s also a very nice person.
“We were working well together. Obviously, we’ve had our moments on the track, in which we’ve learned together, and hopefully it won’t happen again things like in Brazil.
“But at the end, I think we are mature enough out of the car to work together and to try to develop the kind in the right way.
“But I think in the way he’s working with the team and the engineers, I’ve learned a lot and I’ve still got a lot to learn.
“He’s going a lot in the details, as I said, and things that I never thought will be helpful to the engineers he will say anything.
“Sometimes I’m just here listening for one hour what he has to say about the session. He’s just very, very interesting.”
Leclerc’s future with Ferrari is most definitely secure having signed a new long-term deal with the Scuderia that runs until the end of the 2024 season.

[Vettel's] pole came despite Ferrari having been off the pace in practice.
"The weekend so far has been a bit up and down, yesterday was difficult, this afternoon was difficult but tonight it came alive," Vettel added.
The four-time Singapore GP winner praised his Ferrari team's efforts overnight, and said junior drivers Charles Leclerc and Antonio Giovinazzi played a role in the improvement.
"It has been phenomenal," Vettel said. "The car wasn't behaving the way we wanted it to, but it has been pretty special, the amount of effort overnight, the support from Maranello.
"Charles has been in the simulator - it swaps between Antonio and Charles - they answered a lot of questions as we didn't have time remaining.
"The guys here, I don't know when they went to bed."
