Shoutout to dofus Kerub’s Bazaar for having the two most prominent romances being the wholesome, casual, so unproblematic-that-it’s-almost-never-used-as-a-plot-point, normalised in-universe-healthy homosexual relationship, and the most dysfunctional, problematic, riddled with both misogyny and misandry and general gender prejudice, checks all the boxes for toxicity, every time it’s addressed it’s almost always about how dysfunctional it was (and it’s discussed in every other episode) heterosexual relationship.

The dofus/wakfu collective universe has been a little weirdchamp at times but that series in particular really said Are The Straights Okay in bold capital letters

OH AND I JUST REMEMBERED! The one of the only times the heterosexual couple got along healthily was when the guy ended up living as a woman for a bit and also being her stylist and she didn’t recognise him and them actually bonding

Started re-watching  Dofus: Kerub's Bazaar again recently. It remains a very charming fun show, and I couldn’t resist doing a quick doodle of Simone during my down time.

Except for her, he seems to have few friends outside the household, although we see him interact on occasion with Tatak ( Bash Squale's son). Simone, who acts aloof with most people, is always friendly with Joris and protective of him, acting as a bit of a mother figure for him. And while generally obedient, he can also become particularly annoying and stubborn in order to obtain something.įor the duration of Kerub's Bazaar, the Osamodas Simone works as a maid for Kerub after Joris accidentally answered her request for work in the mail. He is at times naive as only a child can be, and sometimes sees right through someone's lies or secrets. He shirks chores and homework but loves doing mischief and going on small "adventures" with his adoptive father or his pet Pupuce. Joris sees Kerub as an idol and dreams of living the same kind of adventures he keeps hearing about.ĭespite his unique origins, Joris behaves like most children. Both him and Kerub seem content with their father-and-son relationship, the child delighted by the stories and wonders provided by the old man. Nothing is known of the circumstances of his birth and adoption, but a slice of his childhood can be seen in the animated series Dofus: Kerub's Bazaar, where he is 7 years old. According to the official timeline, Joris was born on Descendre 32, 390 and taken in by Kerub Crepin the same year.

I'm sorry, but as of right now the Osamodas are my least favourite class if only because their entire royal family are a bunch of fucking assholes.

First, the Osamodas king, clearly trying to manipulate Armand into ruling how he thinks is best while simultaneously looking down on his kingdom. Then his blatant disrespect towards Amalia despite her clear experience dealing with crises and the fact that she's the best informed person around. The fact that he either refused to ask the other kingdoms for help on behalf of the Sadida or he at the very least neglected to send some troops of his own to help the allied nation his own daughter married into, instead telling her to turn tail as soon as things get bad.

And then there's Aurora who actually listened to him. Despite her feelings for Armand being genuine and mourning his loss (and the fact that, admittedly, Amalia refusing to let her near his bud definitely hurt—but she was probably too in shock to want to let all she has left of her brother out of sight tbh), she did not hesitate to abandon the Sadida, who could not have been more distraught at the sight of their queen leaving.

They deserve whatever cataclysm leaves the Sadida kingdom in ruins instead.

My least favourite class, really. The only exceptions are Coqueline and Simone.

really basic stuff cos i haven't been in the moodiest of moods for art but i wanted to give indie a 70s-ish outfit because kerubim and lou had one and i thought it was SO EVIL that he didn't have one... but i get why since he only showed up for like a few seconds when those two were in that phase

As the little sister of the hero Jahash Jurgen, she has a personal grudge against her and is expected to live up to her family's reputation. Bakara Jurgen Bakara is a talented Huppermage apprentice, newly graduated, who also takes up the fight against Julith. Lilotte Previously living with Indie Delagrandaventure, Kerub's lifelong rival, the Ouginak Lilotte is now a street urchin and spends most of her time with Joris around Kerub's shop. As well as raising Joris, he looks after Lilotte, who now lives in the streets. Kerub Crepin After a few years of presumed travel following the end of Dofus: Kerub's Bazaar, Kerub has set up shop again in Bonta. After discovering his ties to the Jurgen family, he will be at the center of the struggle to stop Julith from laying waste to Bonta once again. Main cast Joris Now aged 10, Joris has become friends with the Ouginak Lilotte and lives in Bonta with Kerub, their Shushu house Luis and his pet flea Fleeflee. Along with his friends and new allies, Joris discovers his link to the Dofus and the Huppermage and attempts to save the city. Now living in Bonta with his adoptive father Kerub Crepin, Joris is at the center of events involving the Ebony Dofus and the Huppermage Julith, who has sworn to destroy the city.

Cartoon Review Time: Dofus: Aux trésors de Kerubim

“Dofus: Aux trésors de Kerubim,” also known as “Dofus: The Treasures of Kerubim” (or “Kerub’s Bazaar” if you watch the localized English dub) is a delightfully quirky French cartoon made with flash animation by Ankama, the company behind the MMOs Dofus and Wakfu (which is also a cartoon).

Story: 10

It’s more of a collection of many different slice of life stories revolving around Kerubim’s life as an adventurer. Before he settled down and became a merchant of magical items. The stories are quite fun and usually zany.

Art: 9

Beautifully done. Just brilliant! The only reason it’s not a ten will be revealed in my next review.

Sound: 10

Very fun and well done. I attempted watching this in English first, as that’s how I found it, but the voice acting was appalling to me. I couldn’t continue. I later tried it again in the original French and it was leagues better. I highly recommend the French form.

Quirky, fun, and delightful characterisations all around.

It was a lot more fun than I expected it to be. It hurts a bit that I finished MMO inspired, flash animated, French cartoon because I’m craving more of these ridiculous adventures.
