the one-way mirror

extra:

version without the cracked glass:

-crack running through the golden button (his attorney badge) was deliberate, in reference to the confidence he lost when emi was killed

-this is like...early game yagami and the ad-9 eye represents "truth", which has been there from the beginning, but he doesn't/can't see it yet

-with a one-way mirror, people on the side that has light can't see through it while the ones on the other side in darkness can

-so this is also a "shed light on the truth" kind of piece x')

and finally the original from 2021 o(-<

it's technically a redraw but this was just something I threw together while experimenting with coloring over sketch lines, so I didn't go out of my way to make it look amazing (or whatever I considered to be a high-effort piece at the time)

tbh as much as I like the way I did the cracked mirror in the new version, I prefer how the blood drips in the old one x) the eye also stands out a lot more in the old piece

I think by completely changing the composition I lost a lot of what made the original piece really striking, but skill-wise the new one is definitely miles better (though it's hardly a fair comparison in that regard since I wasn't trying to make a masterpiece the first time. so it's not surprising that one looks far more refined than the other lol)
