While the player is allowed to complete the entirety of Sonic Advance 3 with a single hero, as they unlock additional characters during play they gain the ability to play as both those characters, and mix and match them together in any combination as Tag Partners. On top of providing unique physical movement, each of these partners have their own special Tag Actions that aid in navigation throughout the various levels.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC ‘Future Saga’ announced
From Gematsu
Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Dimps have announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 “Future Saga,” a new series of four downloadable content chapters.
“For the first time since the original game launched, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will look to the future and the coming of a new age,” the press release reads. “Fu is naturally at the center of things, and when experiments with super villain energy are involved, things can’t be headed in a good direction. Players will be able to find out what’s at stake when the downloadable content releases in the near future! ”
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam, and will launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on May 24.
How much was Sonic Team involved in Dimps' GBA/DS games?
It's hard to know, but we can at least look at the game credits to get an idea. Let's take a look at Sonic Advance 2, thanks to Mobygames.
This appears to be the bulk of the in-the-trenches development staff. As you can tell, Sonic Advance 2 had 9 programmers and 9 designers. The bulk of which are on the Dimps side, but they would be -- Dimps are mercenaries who get hired to help make development easier for the main team.
So it wouldn't surprise me if Sonic Team handled all of the core concept and big feature stuff and then Dimps picked up the slack for all the little menial things.
So Sonic Team did in fact design characters like Cream the Rabbit. They probably designed a lot of the bosses. They came up with a lot of the level themes. Things like that.
When it came to the actual grunt work and construction of the game, that was Dimps, who then most likely submitted it to Sonic Team for approval. So the six designers at Dimps would make levels or assemble bosses according to Sonic Team's specifications, which would then get submitted to the three designers over on Sega's side. They would have meetings and discuss what was working and what wasn't and come up with a plan on how to make things better. It's likely they would even be hands on and do edits or make content themselves.
Meaning... there's probably no easy way to say, "Sonic Team did 40%, Dimps did 60%" because it was a team effort. We can look at raw numbers here, but raw numbers don't matter like that when it's a collaborative team, because one highly talented (or untalented) person can make or break an entire division.
There's kind of no way to get an answer outside of like... being there as the game was being made.
