How DIN2344 is delivered its toughness and wear resistance?

DIN2344 demonstrates some very desirable attributes that are responsible for its wider use in hot work tooling and Aluminium casting dies. Its resistance against temperature induced distortions is much pronounced and thus tools made through it are capable of performing without any wear for longer times. This directly impacts the finesse and precision parameters of the product that is being worked upon by the DIN2344 made tool.

DIN2344 is defined by its alloying composition that is characterized by the presence of elements Chromium, Molybdenum and Vanadium in addition to Carbon. The presence of Vanadium in DIN2344 in the range of 0.9 – 1.1% generates the abrasion resistance for the tools at high temperature. Chromium that is present in the range of 4.9 – 5.4% delivers high level of toughness and strength. Heat treatments – for optimized results

Heat treatments are equally important in determining the above stated features of DIN2344 grade. These treatments are carefully performed as per the applicative usage of the client. Soft annealing is performed at 760 – 810 degree centigrade while stress relieving may be required in cases of extreme machining (although DIN2344 allows machining towards development of complex tools and casting dies). Tempering can be performed at temperatures 100 – 700 degree centigrade and different sub grades can be obtained in terms of hardness.

Why DB6 apt for making forging dies and molds?

DB6 is highly recommendable for Close Die Forgings due to its characteristics of high wear-resistance, extra toughness , high hardness which is achieved with Cr-Ni-Mo-V high graded alloys.

The equivalent grade DB6 / L6 / SKT4 normally used as a pre hardened condition. The standard hardness is 360 to 430 BHN. DIN 2714 is the upgraded version of DIN 2713 for better performance of dies.

We supply Die blocks as the extra Forging Reduction & Upsetting with Double tempered to achieve the better Ultrasonic quality.

Steel Properties: The special Hot Work Pre hardened Steel with good toughness and high ware resistance.
