Delicate Arch at Sunset. It’s an 8 km return trail from the parking lot to here and as the hike was quite steep we thought nobody would be there. How wrong could we have been! As we came around the bluff at Twisted Doughnut Arch to get our first view of the Delicate Arch this is what we saw! An army of photographers with tripods waiting for the sun to go down. Anyway it was worth the wait and we camped later in our RV just down the road at Devil’s Garden with a campfire under the stars. A great end to another perfect day. Camping can be really intimidating for parents, especially taking your kids without the other parent! Unfortunately my husband works weekends and he also doesn't enjoy camping as much as I do. I didn't want Dragon to miss out on something I love so much, so I started out taking him with my parents who have an RV. We tent camped but had the ability to use their bathroom and be cooked for since my dad is an excellent cook! I joined them about every other weekend one summer and it gave me the encouragement to know I could do it alone. Then I invited a bunch of mom friends and their kids and we went to Bear Lake. It is still in my Top Ten favorite memories! Since then, I started organizing camping trips with a bunch of families and the last four years we've gone to Devil's Garden Campground in Arches. There really is no other location as beautiful. But I'd be just as Happy to camp with my beautiful friends in an ugly field of nothing. They are my family and making these memories with them is everything to me.
