dawson had never been much of an early riser — if he was up before the sun on a weekend, it was usually because he hadn’t gone to sleep the night before. that night had been different, though, and he’d spent most of it tossing and turning before he gave up and decided to go for a walk. when his knee started hurting, he found a bench to rest on propped his leg up. zoning out while watching the sunrise, he realized he’d made it down to the coast, and thought about how much it was gonna suck to walk all the way back. but first — “nat?” a surprised smile crossed his face, though it took a second to rise to his feet again. though the scene of their last interaction played on a loop in his head, the smile was genuine — he had missed her. but on that same note, he had no idea how he was supposed to greet her. “you’re — here.” groundbreaking. “i mean, of course you are. where else—?” fuck, shut up, dude. “hi…” he settled on, lamely. for added lame effect, he held out his hand to shake. | @deadzne​
