Let’s pretend it’s still day 1 of @grumboweek, and I didn’t just write this drabble on my way to work, shall we?
Set in the same universe as my Renscar soulmate au, though you do not need to read it to understand this. All you need to know is that soulmate marks manifest in the form of flowers or plants in the first place your soulmate touches you. This takes place after the fic, so Mumbo and Grian have recently been reunited after Grian’s operation as a covert spy has abruptly ended in an off-screen incident where he broke one of his wings.
Grian is genderqueer which isn’t really mentioned, it’s just referenced in the fact that he uses a feminine title for himself at one point.

Day 1: Souls/Reunion
Grian’s lips are softer than Mumbo remembered, kissing along the branching fuchsias across Mumbo’s shoulders.
The soulmate mark is warm to Mumbo, like spring’s first sun. He sighs, whole for the first time in months.
Not that he will say so. Not with Grian’s body forcing his uncomfortably into the downs of the pillows.
“What’s the verdict? Can you bear sleeping on your stomach until your poor, darling wife’s wing has healed?”
Grian’s arm wraps around Mumbo, who adorns his soulmate mark with a feather-light kiss.
“I could learn to live with it.”
He wouldn’t have it any other way.

Title: From Any Distance (But I Prefer You at My Side)
Rating: Teen & up
Relationship: Grumbo
Summary:
Instead of colliding, like Grian is apt to do, he slows to a stop and lands clumsily a few feet away, nervously approaching, “I uh, I missed you buddy—”
“Oh, come here,” Mumbo sighs exasperated, and closes the distance, pulling Grian in for a fierce hug.
“Why are you back so early?” Grian asks, face buried in Mumbo’s chest.
“Missed you,” Mumbo says, a half-truth.
Or;
Season 9 sees Mumbo taking his long-overdue break, but midway through he decides he can't keep away from Grian any longer, not to mention the toll of his soul being so far away from his body was taking on him.

There are no requirements to participate every day! You're more than welcome to do one prompt, or a few, or even all of them! The choice is yours!
