Pre-Fall 2022 or September's most worn, because I dove into my fall scents too early, and I had to dial it back, enjoy the gorgeous weather we had, and wear my fresher scents. September is the worst. There's a lot going on, not enough rest, so sometimes it's nice to close my eyes, empty my brain, and just smell my perfume. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love all of these, and after sampling a million other things, I love them even more! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Chanel Bois des Iles. I know it's called Bois des Iles, but it's really the Ylang Ylang that shines for me when I've been wearing it this month. The ylang ylang and sandalwood combo really reminds me of my Samsara edt. It didn't hit me until I wore Samsara the other night, and then wore Bois des Iles the next morning. I like Bois des Iles better for having that Chanel refinement, and a long sandalwood finish. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Serge Lutens Datura Noir. Beach vacation via bitter almond and tuberose, this got me through some long days. I keep putting it away, and then I take it out again to have it in the rotation, and now it's just staying out. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Guerlain L'Heure Bleue edp. I've decided I like it better than the edt because I can use less. I like this bottle design too... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Eau de Jane... my friend @dalybeauty's perfume... I've gone through 2 samples, influenced others to get it, and now I have a bottle of my own. Look at the dent I've already made. When I wear this, I'm cool, calm, and collected. Nothing can ruffle my feathers. It's a dewy green rose-carnation-vetiver, fresh and clean. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ L'Artisan Parfumeur Coeur de Vetiver Sacre. Green tea that's also cool. It lived in my work fridge this past month. Of everything I've mentioned, this is the one that I'm going to put away for now because I think I've had enough of it. Hard to believe this is an 80s perfume as it smells like a smooth as silk 70s disco baby all the way. I've never liked discussing perfume notes, for the most part because they're advertising copy at best & total BS at worst. Things like "black orchids" & "forbidden apple" aren't real perfume ingredients. If you follow me over at @dalybeauty you've heard me say "notes aren't ingredients" 🚫 many perfume ingredients are molecules with names that wouldn't sound nice in any ad copy nor would they make sense to the average perfume buyer. So my friend @chronotope_perfume flipped a table the other day, as is his wont 🙃, & said he's not going to release any notes for his new perfume & only release a list of the natural ingredients ❕❕❕ well folks I'm in 🙋‍♀️ here is a list, alphabetical, of the natural ingredients in Eau de Jane. Speaking of perfumes that smell like other perfumes, it's been common in the perfume industry for as long as fragrance has existed to have trends & perfumes that smell like perfumes 🥸 Jacques Guerlain's wife fell in love Chanel No5, to the point that Guerlain had a perfume created that smelled *a lot* like it, Guerlain Liu ✨ I'm sure he was also happy to capitalize on the aldehydic trend that No5 started & jump on that bandwagon ✨smell-alikes are nothing new & frankly take nothing away from any of the perfumes, original or follow ups. Maybe you didn't like the OG but like the new version. Everyone knows the juggernaut that was Le Labo Santal 33 - it was literally everywhere you went & for good reason. It smelled wonderful.
