One thing I really love whenever I see it in fic is Phoenix having suburban drama with the parents at Trucy's school. Because he is exactly that kind of petty bitch. Somewhere in japanifonia there is a woman called Deborah who has been engaging with Phoenix in more intense psychological warfare than he ever had with Kristoph.

When Edgeworth finally moves in everyone expects it to stop because people tend to think of him as being Phoenix's handler but in reality he just makes it infinitely worse because Edgeworth is even fucking more of a petty bitch except he's also a complete fucking snob who knows exactly how to cut them in the exact way that hurts. Phoenix will insult their parenting style, Edgeworth will insult their wine pairing, do you understand what I'm getting at?

Kinda funny Dadnix-ish Headcanon.

One day Phoenix dragged the WAA to the pool or beach and noticed Apollo was annoyed/bored and just sitting on the side. Phoenix calls him out one this and bugs him until Apollo, still annoyed, Admits he can’t swim….

….The Moment Phoenix found out Polly couldn’t swim, he scooped him up into his arms and then just tossed him in to the water. I mean if it works for babies and little kids, surely it’ll work for a 22/23 year old boy right?….

Wrong, Apollo nearly lost consciousness when Phoenix finalize realized “Okay, yea, he’s not gonna swim” and dived in for him. Polly got to pick where they ate after that because Nick felt bad.

There are probably a lot of errors in this but I’m too tired to care tbh. XP

Opinion on Dadnix?

It's a very cute headcanon, and the fics that come out of it are amazing!

Personally I don't really see him as much of a dad to the lawyers in the agency as other people, but I do like the headcanon. He cares about Athena and Apollo a lot and in some scenes his fatherly instinct really comes out lmao. I think my favourite bit of Dadnix is in 6-5. While on investigation with Edgeworth, he overhears Rayfa crying in Karkhuul's quarters, and he gets reminded of Trucy. Is that fatherly instinct or is that fatherly instinct? Hm, Phoenix?

All in all I see him more as a dad friend/mentor than a full-packaged dad (aside from Trucy of course. She got the entire extra father dlc). The dynamics he has with Apollo and Athena really remind me of some adult people in my life. I trust them and I count on them to take responsibility and care for me, and I can really see that in his dynamics with is proteges. Oh to find an entire family at your job <3

Some other examples of dadnix I wanna share:

He switches from referring to Athena with 'Ms Cykes' to 'Athena' in this scene. Formal to informal. It always kills me man. He did it in 6-5 in the civil trial with Apollo too. He also keeps checking in on Athena in 5-5, asking if she's doing alright. It's unfounded, cause Athena is strong enough to handle the situation, but it's really sweet

Be mad Phoenix, BE MAD!!!!! This mf got what he deserved. No one assaults Apollo and gets away with it

I think a lot of Phoenix and Apollos relationship is characterized by the fact Phoenix is fully convinced he's Apollo's dad and Apollo has not agreed to that yet.

In Phoenix's head Apollo is an orphan and Trucy's brother so has just accepted that this is his kid now because that's what he does with every lost kid with a passing relationship to him. So as a result he does the kind of teasing family like familiarity and thinks it's fine because he's his son. Which like is kinda understandable given that's exactly what happened to him with Maya, Pearl, and Trucy so at that point it's kind of a reasonable way for his mind to go. And of course he isn't going to communicate this because he's Phoenix and he doesn't do that.

But for Apollo this is his idol/mentor/co-workers and he has none of the appropriate context for why Phoenix has made that assessment and doesn't get why this guy is acting like this because he's an adult and not related to him.
