After a loooong time collecting, I think my Johto collection is finally complete! Its been super fun putting this together to celebrate my favorite Pokemon region and generation. What's your favorite region?

Pokemon Legends Arceus. The game I based my Tumblr on. A challenging game that still presents its own twists even in wild encounters.

...The game I also haven’t beaten yet.

Honestly, I struggle to get out of the “raise Pokemon from their first/base form” mentality I developed. It feels weird to use the level forty-something Togekiss I caught. Or guaranteed Alpha Encounters (except strangely the Alpha Stantler I ended up caching). What I mean by the game I haven’t beaten yet, I mean what I can barely get through starting. Never even been past Kleavor before I restart the savefile.

(When did I get into the habit of quitting so soon?) Anyway—I guess rambling on Tumblr helps get my frustration out. The however-many random people who follow me will just have to deal with it. Best Kleavor, Lord of the Woods, without battling him even once. It still took a while chucking balms but it got done!~

Before that though. I spent a while completing dex entries just about perfecting a few. One thing I like to do in all my Pokemon game playthroughs is nickname the first capture of every species I get. Probably a habit from when I first started playing the games.

I named my starter Maka, the female Cyndaqui, who was originally going to be named Mako after Iroh’s original voice actor and character from Legend of Korra who is pretty quiet.

The protagonist from Soul Eater can see souls so the theme isn’t too far off. My first shiny is a male Wurmple. The hardest part so far was grinding Poison Powder and Strong Style moves for Dustox. Beating all those Starly is the only thing that comes close so far...

I do not do this poll lightly.

Forbidden Alphas!

I finally finished my Alpha collection of Alphas forbidden to return home to Hisui. Functionally, it's Pokemon that have at least one non-regional form in the family that will evolve differently depending which game they're currently in. *But* importantly they still contain the Alpha flag in their programming, you can see it in Home if you view their summary in P:LA mode

Alpha Mime Jr. from Hisui become Galarian Mr. Mime and Mr. Rime in Galar.

Alpha Cyndaqui/Quilava become Jhotonian Typhlosian in Sinnoh.

Alpha Petilil become Unovan Liligant in Galar (Post IoA update)

Alpha Rufflet become Unovan Braviary in Galar.

Alpha Goomy become Kalosian Sligoo and Goodra in Galar.

Alpha Bergmite becomes Alpha Kalosian Avalugg in Galar.

Alpha Rowlett/Dartrix becomes Alpha Alolan Decidueye in Galar.

And Oshawott is there in case Gen 9 adds Unovan Samurott in the games, to round out the set. Not 100% sure the Alpha flag will stay in the Pokemon file programming but eh, this was an easy contingency to anticipate... I don't know if this collection will ever be future-proofed.

Regional Forms aren't seeming to be going away so if Gen IX doesn't remove the flag from the programming, then some day I may need a duplicate set of Alphas for regional Pokemon that I can't just catch and transfer if Home on the Switch is shut down. But at the very least I have the Pokemon that this applies too right now, and that makes me happy.

how tall are they?

she’s an even 5′3, and stopped growing around 8th grade.

how do they tend to dress?

her newfound fame hasn’t really affected her sense of style (or lack of??) to Zadie’s chagrin, but Sapphire is a fan of oversized shirts and fluffy sweaters with funny sayings or animated characters, and black leggings.

do they like how they look?

she thinks she looks pretty average. braces fixed her teeth, the only thing that made her super self-conscious growing up, but other than that, she doesn’t put herself in the same category as other ‘classically pretty’ girls… and yes, Shane has given her shit for that terrible way of thinking!

are they an only child or do they have any siblings?

2 (really young) siblings!! ryan, who’s five and doesn’t talk much, and mia who’s seven and does enough talking for the both of them! sapphire loves them both death but is also super glad she doesn’t have to live in the same house as them (she’s not sure what the heck her parents were thinking lol)

are they a morning person or night owl?

she’s unfortunately both. once she gets some lyrics or a melody stuck in her head, she up until the ass crack of dawn trying to piece it together. BUT she also likes early mornings and having a full day ahead of her so not much sleep happening

are they a cat person or a dog person?

neither! she’s a gerbil/rodent person!! Over the course of her life, she’s had three hamsters, a rat, and a guinea pig (her last pet that died before she left home officially)

got any favorite foods?

anything cheese flavored: popcorn, chips, crisps, crackers, you name it, she likes it! also loves dried cranberries (read: ADDICTION)

how about favorite drinks?

cranberry juice (go figure!), apple juice, grape juice…she still buys the packaged-for-kids drinks at the grocery store honestly and pretends it’s for her brother and sister

what are their favorite movies/tv-shows?

shonda rhimes is her favorite person in the WORLD, so grey’s anatomy, scandal, and how to get away with murder are on her watch list 25/8. she likes the food network as background noise too. as for movies, if she’s in an angsty mood and wants to cry, she’ll pop in the edge of seventeen, otherwise, it’s musical-city and hairspray, sound of music, or the last five years

do they have any hidden talents?

she can tie a cherry stem into a knot with her tongue and burp the alphabet (both of which she’d never demonstrate unless she’s super comfortable around the person)

do they believe in love at first sight?

in the movies? yes of course! in real life? not a chance

who is their love interest?

Shane Parker, an utter sweetheart who she never realized she had more than platonic feelings for (AND who is a cousin to my other MCs Izzy and Meghan lol!) but she doesn’t deny that Raleigh and Avery are both attractive!

what are they afraid of?

the dark. lol. she’s twenty-three years old and still sleeps with a night light; in this case, a solar-powered flashlight that sits on her dresser, a replacement for the star-shaped light her siblings accidentally broke…

what are their guilty pleasures?

if you don’t watch her, she will literally devour an entire bag of frosted animal crackers in one sitting.

what was their dream job as a kid? is it still their dream?

to make it as a professional singer….and lookie loo, definitely seems like she’s making it!

have they ever broken a bone?

she broke her collar bone when she fell out of a tree at the park in first grade! she was trying to reach the frisbee she, Shane and their group of friends had been playing with.

have they ever been in trouble with the law?

nah, Sapph is a good noddle (she didn’t even participate in her senior prank day back in high school!)

+ three other random facts about them!

1) her starter pokemon would be probably cyndaquil

2) she’s dreamed about owning a white baby grand piano (though she currently neither has the money or space. yet.)

3) each of her song lyric journals are a different color; her current one is pink that has the word ‘write’ in golden cursive, and a golden owl, her favorite animal
