Primošten is one of the last places I shot in Croatia🇭🇷, before going down further south & crossing into Montenegro🇲🇪 yesterday. Its old town is one of those interesting places being located on a peninsula, just connected by a small land bridge with the mainland. Other similar places are Rovinj in Istria or also the Peninsula of St Stefan (Sveti Stefan) here in Montenegro. Primošten has a population of just over 2.800 souls. During the Turkish invasions in 1542 the islet was protected by the walls and towers and a draw bridge connected it to the mainland. When the Turks retreated, the draw bridge was replaced by the causeway and in 1564 the settlement was named Primošten after the Croatian verb primostiti (to bridge). The Golden Horn🌊 near the town of Bol on the island of Brač🇭🇷 is an interesting pebble beach⛱️ and famous at the Adriatic coast for its winds and shape-shifting properties. The small peninsula is changing all the time through winds, tides and the Adria. It's very famous with Kitesurfers and at this time due to the impact of Covid-19 on the travel & holiday business, it's the emptiest in years. Still, an awesome place to visit and photograph📸. When in Croatia🇭🇷... those 4 kinds of brethren resemble some of the finest & famous 'Ex-Yugoslavian' liqueurs🍷. Maraska is nowadays a modern company with more than five centuries of experience and tradition in production of liqueurs and alcoholic drinks from the Zadar region. But Maraska is also the Croatian form of cherry destillation into 🍒Maraschino liqueurs. Those cherries grow wild along parts of the Dalmatian coast, their destilled liqueur has a unique aroma. So, from left to right: Kruskovac is Maraska's take on Yugoslavian 70's Julishka 🍐pear liqueur, Maraska's Cherry Brandy is a classic Maraschino Red Cherry Liqueur, Šljivovica (Slivovitz) is the most famous type of fruit rakija, a fruit brandy made from damson plums, often referred to as plum brandy. It's strength and pleasant warmth when it is drunk is especially popular in Croatia and the surrounding countries. And finally, Zlatna Viljamovka, is a classic Williams Pear Brandy or 🍐Williams Christbirne, as it's also called. Some people swear that the best quality of pear brandy is obtained only from Viljamovka pears in Serbia, that mature in late August, but fact is that Viljamovkas from Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia taste great as well. Viljamovka pear brandy should be crystal clear with very pleasant and intense aroma, opulent and creamy ripe fruit fragrance. - So, there you have it! Which ones would you prefer? The🏛️ 'Monument to the Revolution of the People of Moslavina' is a giant Monument about 85km east of Zagreb, Croatia🇭🇷 to commemorate the community's rebellion and uprising against Ustaše occupying forces in the greater Moslavina and Zagreb region during the National Liberation War (WWII). It is also intended to honor the roughly 900 fighters from this region who perished in a skirmish near this site. Inaugurated in 1967 by Tito, it symbolises the 'wings of victory' overcoming death and defeat but also resembles the ancient symbol of the 'winged sun', a motif which was used across a wide range of civilizations from antiquity (including Egypt, Perisa, Assyria, and other historic cultures.) Through these cultures, the symbol generally employed to communicate holiness, power and supreme divinity. Nevertheless!
