Campaign: Mental Health Month 2020 | Tumblr’s Post It Forward
As a global pandemic kept us all cooped up inside, focusing on the mental health of young people was more critical than ever. Our artists addressed topics like --- How can we cope with isolation and loneliness? How can we maintain meaningful relationships amidst social distancing? We wanted to address these topics and provide resources for young people to inform themselves and support one another. Post It Forward has been our hub for mental health work since 2015, and thanks to the beautiful community on Tumblr that has been growing for years, the Creatrs pieces resonated far and wide. Artists were able to successfully navigate obtuse emotions and inspire important dialogue and messages of solidarity that flourished in the comment section.

March For Our Lives  | Tumblr
In 2018, we saw the social climate shift rapidly towards youth activism. Tumblr's Creatrs have been making social justice content since 2015 with an ability to communicate complex topics through visual imagery. Our March For Our Lives campaign featured artist protest packs that showed art as action. The Creatrs showed our support for and solidarity with the Parkland community and our global community through personal statements and posts. The campaign was featured on Mashable.

V- Day #LoveYourself Merch | Tumblr + Threadless
Our first-ever line of Valentine’s day merchandise designed by Tumblr Creatrs launched on Feb 1. We used the meme styles and visual language on the Tumblr platform to help hedge the artist to create timely Valentine’s day gear. The accessories and clothing were aimed at an all-inclusive Valentine’s for singles, friends, and lovers alike.
The shop had the work of five Tumblr Creatrs and carried 25 total products in pinks, blacks, and flame prints. The promotions for the show mimicked Tumblr’s most popular type of V-Day meme, the faux valentine.

13 Billboards in Austin, TX  | Tumblr
13 billboards in Austin, Texas? Tumblr collaborated with nonprofit, Save Art Space to bring #WhatWillYouDo pieces to life in the form of colossal public art. This was Tumblr’s first ever out of home installation at SXSW. The work was also on display at Tumblr’s annual Mohawk party. The art was aggregated from existing Art Action Day highlights that kicked off 2018 as a year of action and social change powered by Tumblr Creatrs.

Earth Day | Tumblr
Hey, the Earth is pretty cool, right? Maybe we should try to keep it around a while longer. For Earth Day, the Creatrs team paired up with Ted ED and the Peace Corps do something nice for the planet. Three pieces inspired by core environmental issues: climate change, water conservation, and renewable energy. By partnering with such reputable organizations, the reach was expansive. Together we played a small part in reminding audiences to do right by Earth, it’s the only home we’ve got (at least for now).

A Brave Heart: The Lizzie Velasquez Story | Tumblr + Lizzie Velasquez
Anti-bullying activist Lizzie Velasquez isn’t afraid of a challenge. Her optimism and influence are profoundly changing the social landscape. We like her style. Creatrs and Post It Forward teamed up to spread the word about her award-winning documentary, A Brave Heart: The Lizzie Velasquez Story. The team sprung into action, creating a custom site complete with Creatr art, videos, and content curation. We also hosted a screening at Tumblr HQ complete with Q+A. After all, the internet is responsible for making a lot of people famous, and Lizzie deserves to be one of them.

Art Action Day | Tumblr
When historians write about 2018— What will they say? What will you do to make it happen?

2018 promises to be a historic year. The midterm election will be a referendum on countless issues central to the Tumblr community: racial justice, immigration, healthcare, education, LGBTQ+ equality, and more. And it comes during a once in a generation resurgence of activism and volunteerism.
For the first time ever and in partnership with The Federation, we launched the first Art Action Day on 1/20 to call to action all of the artists and creatives: post a piece of art that reflects the action, change and 2018 that we want to remember.

Serve a Year | ServiceNation
Ok, this one’s cool. ServiceNation, one of the most prominent non-profits in the US, reached out to Creatrs to promote their “Serve a Year” campaign. Artists turned their message into a call-to-action with a focus on accomplishment and, wow, it worked. Tumblr users accounted for a 13% bump in traffic on the ServiceYR.org site, with the content receiving 2M+ impressions in just two weeks. The organization was thrilled with the response, having found a whole new community to help shape the future.

Act. No Matter What. | Planned Parenthood
When the GOP was trying to defund Planned Parenthood, Creatrs took action. This result was a rallying cry to unite the Tumblr community and protect the 2.4 million patients who seek PP’s healthcare services annually. The work was shared across Planned Parenthood’s main presence as well as Tumblr’s Social, Staff, and Action pages. There are some things that are fun to promote, and others that are just necessary.

Department of Health Installation | Tumblr’s Post It Forward
Creatrs stepped into the real world to trigger conversation and activism around Mental Health. Creatr Sirin Thada, inspired by Tibetan Prayer Flags, sewed together a rainbow of delicate floating bows, that found movement in the wind. Working with the Department of Health, the piece traveled through New York City’s five boroughs, finally making its home on the rooftop of Tumblr. With the First Lady of NYC and David Karp in attendance, the campaign also got the community participating, by inviting them to color in postcards and fabricate quilting squares. Because together, we can do this.

LIVE From the DNC | Tumblr
Everybody covers the Democratic National Convention, but no one does it quite like us. Enter Creatr artist Brian Butler. Inspired by the frenetic energy, he sketched daily journals (in real time) featuring key remarks and whispers amongst the crowd. In pairing his sketches with real audio from the convention, Butler was able to turn an overwhelming event into something authentic and perfectly suited for a new generation of voters.

It’s On Us | Tumblr + Champions of Change
How do you create a new kind of protest sign? To tackle the growing issue of on-campus sexual assault, Creatrs and four artists traveled to the White House to attend the Champions of Change “It’s On Us” Panel hosted by VP Joe Biden. The result? Powerful pieces that challenge the status quo while still remaining shareable. Featured on the “It’s On Us” Tumblr, the official White House Tumblr, and curated into a Sponsored Day, the content was part of a targeted awareness strategy, spreading the message that everyone has the right to feel safe, supported, and spesh.

Pride Month 2020 | Tumblr
Like much of 2020, Pride Month this year fell during some very difficult times. We knew we had to honor both the protests happening today against police brutality as well as the original pride — a revolution that started at Stonewall fighting against similar injustices. Through Daily #ActsOfPride prompts, the Tumblr community, including some of our very own Creatrs, were asked to honor and uplift those Blach and Brown LGBTQIA+ voices. If only we could have seen Miss Josephine Baker IRL...it would have been magical.
