Say hello to Angel Wallace, a 37 year old tattoo artist born in New Orleans and raised in LA.
Name: Angel Wallace
Age: 37
Faceclaim: Nathalie Emmanuel
Neighborhood: Sterling Lakes
Occupation: Tattoo artist & Owner of Angel Ink
Biography:
As a child, Angel caught the sight of southern, small town America through the window of the backseat of her mother’s beat up Honda as they made the move from New Orleans, Louisiana to Los Angeles. She was captivated by the expanse of the land, dreamed of what it would be like to be a nomad of these spaces and towns of character. Like her mother, Angel Wallace had always been drawn to life and it’s mysteries. Her wayward father made the trip with them, though once they had unpacked the car and piled into a one bedroom apartment in Southern California his presence dwindled to an occasional visit. Bonnie was a writer, freelance, and felt as though a place like the City of Angels was destiny. Not only was she a superstitious woman, she believed the sprawling city was fated for her. It all surrounded a mysterious sign Angel’s mother had seen flipping through a magazine while at the salon one day, one that she’d never uncover, for her life to no longer grow in the south. Though, no matter where it led her, Angel always felt the Bayou was apart of her.
The girl came about her name due to being a miracle baby, as Bonnie called her. Angel’s first title in life was savior, one that plagued her youth with the bearing of it’s responsibility. She saved her mother. When Bonnie had become pregnant with her it turned her mother’s life around, pulled her away from all of the negative temptations and grounded her into the pursuit of a better life. It was a past that Bonnie spoke of in a guarded way, most of the truths Angel wouldn’t uncover until she was in the early stages of adulthood. Given that her mother didn’t want to look back and always had her eyes forward on a brighter more adventurous future, Angel never really pushed for all the why’s nor dug too deep when her mother would trail off into something else. By the time she was a teenager, it instilled in her that the past was meant to simply be what it was: the past. It was in the rearview mirror, not the direction ahead.
In Los Angeles, no matter how long she had resided there, Angel always felt a bit like an outsider. She fit in easily with the artsy crowds; the painters, the musicians, the writers and creatives alike. Though, despite countless sketchbooks full of drawings and doodles, she never quite felt like she was one of them. She was popular, did well in school, had a band that performed at whatever small clubs and venues they could get a gig at, and was pretty happy with her life. A rarity to most fellow teenagers she knew at the time. It was just that as her mother’s success and prominence grew, the more distant she felt. Bonnie loved her fiercely, but she loved her career and life as a writer just as much. The experiences and people she’d meet and have pulled mother and daughter apart, so rather than spend time alone in whatever upgraded apartment they’d had, Angel filled the void in crashing with other people.
The distance that had been created and had grown between mother and daughter was, for a long time, an unknown reason for Angel’s disconnect. Because of it, she saw people and connections, even the strongest relationships as fleeting. They would all end or pull apart some day no matter the emotion held in her heart. So, Angel treated all her connections and relationships, no matter the type, as loosely as possible. Always afraid to hold onto someone too tight. Even, or perhaps especially, in university with finding love for the first time and actually stepping into a longterm relationship Angel fumbled too much in trying to understand it, respect it, and see the longevity in it. For she felt that if her mother could find a life away from her that so could this person too.
For too long she went through the world emotionally stunted, though eventually she found herself settling into the wild love she felt for Jameson Carter. A special someone she'd met in class and hit it off with immediately, despite their left and right brain personalities, and ended up marrying right around graduation time. For the first time she began to open up and allow herself to believe in the power of it, that love was real and staying. This man had gone as far as to make vows with her, proclaim in front of family and friends 'for better or for worse'. As an artist, Angel was the income provider in the union she shared with Jameson. It wasn't easy, she believed in his aspirations and drive, so she held up her end of their arrangement. Her wants for a family were sidelined while he took his academics to higher and hight levels.
What that entailed was picking up house, just like she had in youth, and move from place to place. The only difference was with her mother it was apartment to apartment within the same city limits. Jameson had then traipsing the country as he grabbed at new opportunities to further his dreams. In him chasing those stars she was settled onto the sidelines of his life. Their marriage was something that had become something done in passing, kids were tabled for a later unknown date, and whatever career she'd attempted to get rolling was squashed with every move and having to start all over again. Eventually Houston, so close to her own origins, Angel met her breaking point. Jameson had the big job, now it was time for a baby or she couldn't keep waiting. Her entire life couldn't be lived on hold.
A pregnancy ended in tragedy. After three years of actively trying to conceive and carry, it came to a Sophie's Choice moment where Jameson made the wrong decision. Deep in the depression of the loss, completely disconnected with the man that was supposed to be her everything, Angel didn't make the next move with him. Long distance love and therapy did nothing to repair the damage, and... then there was someone that had added to her tattoo collection, someone she’d bonded with through conversation and a few hangout sessions. For her they were the first to take a special interest in her drawings, or what Angel referred to as ‘doodling’ and told her she should do something with that talent. She told them to teach her how to tattoo and from that first session it’s become her career. Once again, Angel was good, popular, and sought after. Finding herself being featured in a magazine here and there or showcased on social media. But, she didn’t take that too seriously either.
Though, it would land her in a back and forth with lawyers and divorce proceedings. The man that had inspired her tattooing career was someone that Jameson accused her of having an affair with after he'd found their communications. They were deep, raw, and revealing. She confided in this friend in ways that she hadn't been able to with her husband, and for her it was therapy. It helped her out of the darkness and this friend gave her direction when there had been nothing but an open road. There was no love, her heart only had room for one in that sense but the man that would become her ex-husband was convinced and hurt by what he'd discovered. Angel didn't really even fight and signed the papers when the time came.
During the process, however, Angel had discovered she was with child. Approximately three months along. Too afraid to speak it into existence and lose it, she said nothing. She let the baby grow with love instead of disconnect and distance.
In finding her way to Covington three years later, Angel made the move after a phone call from her mostly absentee father. She found out then that it had been where he had ended up some years after the family had first moved into Southern California. While he hadn’t tried all that hard to keep in touch or be around, when he did make an effort to connect with Angel it always came with an outpouring of love. Her family had always simply been… different. The news she had received on that phone call had been that he was sick and on the precipice of facing a long battle. Eddie hadn’t asked her to come, hadn’t asked for help, there was something that had been left unsaid that pulled Angel and her daughter from Houston to be close to her father. Just so she could be there in case he needed someone, and maybe there was also a little hope that they could get to know one another.

⸻ ana de armas, 35, cis female, she/her // in the AVONLEA TERRACE neighborhood of Covington, you’ll find MILENA SUAREZ who’s lived there for FOUR YEARS and they spend their days working as the OWNER OF THE PURRING CAT and HACKER. They’ve been described as INTELLIGENT, FEARLESS, BLUNT, and AGGRESSIVE by the people that know them. This is her story.
Triggers: knives and violence mention
Born and raised in the well known city of Havana, an affluent neighborhood called Miramar in Cuba, Milena was one that never quite fit into any setting. Even as a baby it was painfully obvious, to the disappointment of her parents, that she was nothing like them. One classification would be that Milena was an introvert and growing up she didn’t like to play with others and kept mostly to herself. It was an immediate challenge for her socialite mother, she had a hard time finding footing in motherhood since her life was all about the town’s social calendar and making sure her family was well thought of and regarded. Most of the time, when Milena was young, she went along with what her parents wanted and requested of her as far as dressing and acting a certain way. She couldn’t quite comprehend their meaning, on a personal level, of blending into the expectations of society and having an image to uphold.
Most of her knowledge growing up came from books, rather than learning in a social way from other kids and adults. She immersed herself in books, it didn’t matter the subject as long as it was based on facts, that’s what she was interested in. Milena was pretty much self-taught growing up, being sent home a lot since grade 6, the girl honestly didn’t have much of a choice. Teachers and parents had no idea what to do with Suarez. She hardly spoke and when she did it was always something foul. Only did what she wanted to do, and if she wasn’t given any other choice, it ended with swinging fists and biting. Believing that there was no other choice, her parents took her out of school. They were too engrossed in their own lives with the fancy gatherings and travels for her father’s banking business he had started before moving to Miramar from Madrid.
They gave up on her, they didn’t even bother to home school her, which was actually heaven to Milena with being on her own and only having to worry about herself. She became smarter over the years, not only in reading, but in math also and her memory became sharp. Milena could remember facts only after skimming over it once, could read at an exceptionally quick rate, and taught herself virtually anything by devouring books on whatever subject was interesting and available.
Milena’s parents pretty much let her do what she wanted when she became a teenager. As no one wanted to deal with her mouth or having to clean up a mess. When she was 15, Milena cut her own hair and started to carry knives and dress too provocatively. Of course, this was something that the Suarez parents didn’t approve of, they worried about their own reputations and as soon as Milena turned 16, her parents kicked her out, leaving her only with a bag of clothes and the shoes on her feet. This only fueled the fire that was burning inside of Milena.
For some time, all she did was travel and bounce around from place to place with her stick tied handkerchief. It was hard, a major struggle with no money and no real social skills, so Milena often did whatever she had to do to survive. Whether that was stealing, fighting, or doing a number of various illegal tasks to make any sum of money. She never really stayed in one place too long, eventually leaving Cuba all together and bounced around the United States in the same way that she had within her own country. Life on the streets and as a wanderer were the cause for Milena to hone her skills in fighting, because it was always a fight to stay alive when living on the streets and starving. She began to collect knives, and to this day usually has one on her at all times, likely tucked away somewhere completely unnoticeable.
Born tough was one thing but by the time she’d made her way to Las Vegas, at age 19, she’d become an absolute pro on survival. She was savvy enough to have a collection of small illegal tasks to make money here and there and when in Sin City, not too long after turning 20, Milena decided to stop struggling from small job to small job. Using her intelligence and natural but supreme computer skills, Milena stole a laptop and furthered her brief earlier teenage stint as a hacker and started siphoning money from banks and corporations into a few different offshore accounts of her own, making herself rich. It took a good year to build up accounts the way Milena wanted, learning her way around the various computer systems in the world, before she was able to build a decent paper trail to give background to her sudden wealth. Milena even went as far as gaining American citizenship, teaming up with a forger.
Once she felt confident in what she had, she opened a lounge called Snake Eyes in Los Angeles and it was successful, especially with Milena devouring knowledge on how to properly run a business. Eventually trouble caught up with her, still considered a little green in the hacking world, she had made some mistakes and began to be pulled in for questioning by the FBI. They didn’t have much more than suspicion on her, at least nothing to give her any hard time over and at that point Milena could afford a top notch lawyer. Still, the series of being brought in for questioning got under her skin and she decided it was time to make some changes. She sold her lounge in Los Angeles and moved east, finding a city where a little sin might be welcomed. Atlanta, Georgia. Quickly after settling into Covington, a town just an easy drive outside of the big city, Milena converted a beautiful home in Avonlea Terrace with a secure work space for her computers, Milena bought a building and opened up a strip club called The Purring Cat in Atlanta.
Business went well, both her strip club front for official income and her illegal businesses. She learned from her mistakes in the past and cleaned up all errors made, making Suarez even harder to keep watch on. The FBI and maybe other branches of law enforcement had Milena on a “watch list” with her being considered on a list of the top hackers in the world but with her being that good at what she did behind a computer meant that anyone beneath her level of expertise wouldn’t have a clue on how to track her. It left Milena feeling comfortable, not over confident, she had read that that was usually one of the major downfalls.
While a petite woman with a love for knives most never took her as a serious threat, which was a mistake when rowdy and rough patrons of the club came in and created chaos and havoc with the way they hassled the women and other patrons of the club. After her security got themselves beat in a fight against the guys of the group that wanted to push their way around when trying to kick them out, Milena got involved. Not only did one of the members end up with multiple stab wounds and a stay in the hospital, Milena shut down all their accounts and turned over paperwork on major assets the men owned. Their houses suddenly getting notices for foreclosure and cars and bikes being repossessed, Milena made it clear that while they could out muscle her, she could easily destroy every little bit of their lives while she sipped on a glass of wine in her desk chair.
Sometimes the really bad offenders got to see how easily she could tear every bit of their life apart. She liked to exact vengeance from behind her computer. For a cut or a hefty sum Milena will take on an odd hacking job here and there but mostly she enjoys sitting back and running her club.

⸻ peter gadiot, 38, cis male, he/him // in the ORCHIRD PARK neighborhood of Covington, you’ll find MATEO MEIJER who’s lived there for SEVENTEEN YEARS and they spend their days working as a DETECTIVE WITH COVINGTON PD and THE OWNER OF THE VAULT RECORD STORE. They’ve been described as PERSEVERING, GENUINE, REACTIVE, and GUARDED by the people that know them. This is his story.
Triggers: child abuse, mental illness, death/suicide
When looking back on where he has come from, Mateo doesn't like to look too deep or with too much intensity. Born and raised until aged 11 in upstate New York his father was an artist and his mother was the same. They were two painters that forged a life together after growing up with him always in pursuit of her. As kids, it had been love at first sight for his father, and his mother came around eventually. It just wasn't until after his mother's best friend had moved away to California and had married a film producer out there.
The early years his childhood was happy and warm. It wasn't until after his mother's best friend had passed away in a horrible accident in California that his mother's mental and emotional state began to decline. She drank too heavily and became abusive, first only verbally then it had become physical as well after nearly two years. Mateo's father had done everything he could to protect him and his older sister from the abuse. The man also sought help for his wife's drinking and declining health. Nothing worked. It all only got worse.
When Mateo was 11 he had walked into the converted carriage house near the main house turned working studio and found his father hanging lifeless. It's a sight that he's never been able to unsee. By the time his father was buried and laid to rest his mother had cleared out his studio and gotten rid of everything. It was only six months later that he and his older sister were taken away by the state. Unfortunately, Mateo and his sister were separated and adopted out to different families with him finding himself in the south. Covington, Georgia.
It took many years and plenty of required therapy for Mateo to come out of the poor state he'd been in. At the start he'd been unable and unwilling to open up or trust anyone despite his new family being absolutely wonderful with him. They were patient and it eventually paid off. Mateo came out of grief and survival mode with an interest and ability with music, a talented guitar player and decent songwriter. There was even a possibility of going off to music school and several times he'd been on the verge of starting a band or recording music. But, ultimately, Mateo knew that wasn't his purpose in life.
What he really needed to do was help people. So, after graduation from high school, he went off to university in Atlanta and studied criminal justice. Mateo's purpose was to become a detective, a lawman, someone that could help those in need. Partly, he wanted to learn the necessary skills for selfish reasons. His sister was out there somewhere and the desire to reconnect with her is strong. There's also the need to uncover the truth about his past and make peace with it. Once he earned his degree he came back home to Covington and became a cop. It didn't take long for him to build a very strong reputation and rise through the ranks to detective.
Many times he has received special accolades and commendations for his outstanding work. Has even been offered promotions, asked to take on a role and title with more responsibility but has always turned it down. Mateo didn't become a cop so that he would be stuck and desk and push around papers, there was no interest in the bureaucracy or business of it all. Being a detective and making a difference where he could has been all that's mattered.
Without a doubt the job is difficult and can be incredibly taxing. In times that he's nearly quit and walked away because the weight on his shoulders was too much, or he'd noticed how he'd picked up his birth mother's drinking habit, Mateo knew that he needed to find another outlet. There had to be somewhere to turn. And that happened to be music. Considering that he didn't make a ton of money but also had little expenses with no family of his own, just a house and a German Shepherd, it was easy to take his savings and buy out The Vault Record Store from it's previous owner.
A couple of years ago Mateo found a young woman badly hurt following what had appeared to be a brutal attack. It was perhaps the wrong move to make but he rushed the woman to the hospital himself knowing he could get her to help fast than it would take emergency vehicles to get to them and then take her in. With her condition critical it was a call he took responsibility for. While in emergency care and waiting on the woman to become stable Mateo had already begun the quest in finding out what had happened to her and who was responsible.
For the six months she was in the hospital in a coma Mateo visited at least once a week. At the urging of staff suggesting he talk to her, he did just that. The news would be read to her, there would be updates on her case or just him talking through what little he had, and he'd apologize for not making any progress. Her case had quickly become the one that took him over. It wasn't easy for the seasoned detective to solve, and even more frustrating that Mateo couldn't seem to find a road to travel down. When she woke he remained close to her, perhaps a little too close, and struggled with the professional boundary line.
Now, at 38, his mother has reached out to him. Sick and with not much time left Mateo's under even more pressure to find out where things went wrong in the past. There's some secrets he knows he has to uncover and most days he's not sure if he wants to. What he has never told anyone, not his therapist when he was adopted or his sister before they were separated, was that he still has the note his father left.

occupation: firefighter & stunt rider
positive traits: fearless & deep thinking
negative traits: distant & quiet
where do they live: sterling lakes
sexuality: heterosexual
relationship status: single
background.
trigger warnings: death
born and raised in covington, Lucas Gamble was the product of a one night stand. All he’s ever known of his father was that he had been passing through town one night on his motorcycle and that he’d met Lucas mother at a bar. She never knew his full name or where he was from, so when she found herself pregnant she knew she’d be on her own.
the pair did the best they could. Luke tried to be easy for his mom so that he didn’t stress her out but he was something of a young Tarzan as a child and teenager. Luke had an aversion to wearing a full set of clothing and shoes and loved anything risky and adventurous.
too often he came home just at sundown with bumps and bruises, sometimes worse, but wore a smile on his face regardless.
he helped around the house and as a teenager began taking care of his moms errands that he could take off her hands. when it came to school however that was a different story and Luke was often in trouble for truancy. his grades weren't good either and not because he didn’t have the smarts but because he did the bare minimum when it came to school.
since he was a child he had an obsession with cars and motorcycles but when it came to his way of getting around it was a dirt bike. as a young teenager it was all he and his mother could afford. she struggled to make ends meet and keep them afloat and his way of helping out had come by means of taking bets. those bets eventually became stunts that he performed with his bike. he also took in some money from racing and while a thrill it wasn’t the biggest draw for Luke.
around the time he barely scraped by as a high school graduate he found himself fully into a gimmick. there would be periods of times where he would travel with a group for stunt shows. and looking back now in his thirties Luke would admit these were some of the best times of his life.
he fell in love for the first time. the usually quiet and solitary type, Luke had found that things were a little bit brighter during the time period that she was in his life.
everything derailed when he lost his best friend in a horrible accident that Luke hasn’t stopped blaming himself for since the moment the loss occurred. it had been a stunt he designed and one that he’d barely been able to accomplish himself but at the time Luke had been at odds with the event organizers and had refused to perform that night. without his knowledge his best friend had been convicted to take his place and ended with Luke having to bury his friend and say goodbye to the things he had thought made up his life.
he retreated into himself and returned home fully. no more traveling or performing stunts and instead went into the fire academy. his mother could no longer survive without some help, debts were racking up and she was drowning with her meager earnings.
it was time to become an adult and take care of the only family he had. tall, strong, and fearless being a firefighter was something he took to easily and after a while was able to pay off his mothers home and have his own place with some land that he’d made a track on.
still in his spare time he rides.

Character Name: Nolan Jackson
Character Age:  35
Faceclaim: Oliver Jackson Cohen
Neighborhood: Orchird Park
Occupation: High School Teacher
Birthday: Sept 22 1989
Sexuality: Heterosexual
biography below the cut
Biography: tw: munchausen by proxy.
Nolan Jackson was born in Sheffield, UK to parents Brian and Alicia Jackson. He is an only child. The Jacksons were a well-known, religious family in their community. Nolan was frequently ill as a child, in and out of hospitals with mysterious symptoms that doctors struggled to diagnose. At age 8, it was discovered that Alicia had been intentionally poisoning him by overdosing him with salt. He was sick from sodium poisoning. Alicia was sentenced to 12 years in prison for child abuse. Nolan's father Brian refused to divorce her, and wanted to save face in their religious community. This deeply hurt him, who felt betrayed by his father choosing appearances over protecting his son.
At 13, to escape the aftermath of his mother's crimes, Nolan moved with his father to Salt Lake City, Utah. The move gave distance but did not improve the relationship between Nolan and his father. As soon as he graduated from high school, he left home and cut ties with his father. Alicia was going to be released soon and would be moving to Salt Lake. He wanted nothing to do with her. He moved to San Francisco to attend university, putting as much distance as possible between himself and his dysfunctional family.
In San Francisco, Nolan met his best friend Brandon Anders at university. The two were inseparable, sharing everything with each other. He finally had the close friendship he had always wanted. Brandon was like a brother to him. During a spring break trip to Atlanta in his Junior year, Nolan was introduced to Brandon’s girlfriend, Harlow. There was an instant connection between them. Harlow was kind, funny and genuine. For the first time, Nolan felt true chemistry with another person. But the trip ended and they went their separate ways.
Shortly after the trip to Atlanta, Nolan discovered Brandon had stolen a large sum of money from him. When confronted, Brandon denied taking the money but later, the truth came out. Brandon stole the money to spend on girls. Not only was he a thief, he also was cheating on Harlow. Despite Brandon's apologies and promises to repay him, he felt betrayed that his closest friend would violate his trust like that. It damaged their friendship irreparably. He cut off contact with Brandon entirely.
Nolan poured himself into his studies and eventually obtained his teaching degree. He got a job at a prestigious private school in San Francisco a few months after graduation and stayed working there for a number of years. After a while he felt unfulfilled by the work. It had been years and he decided to look for positions elsewhere. He found an opening at a high school in Covington, Georgia. On a whim, hoping to make a fresh start, he took the job and moved across the country.
On his third day living in Covington, Nolan stopped at a local cafe called Bread & Butter. When he went to order, he froze - the woman at the counter was Harlow. He could not believe their paths were crossing again. She did not recognize him though.
Through chatting with people in town, Nolan later learned Harlow was single, though the reasons were unclear. Like a moth to a flame, he visits the cafe every day. He was unsure how to tell her they had met before. He agonized over the situation. Should he confess he recognized her? Why had fate brought them back together?

Character Name: Catalina Acosta (Cat)
Character Age:  35
Faceclaim: Ana de Armas
Neighborhood: Sterling Lakes
Occupation: Owner of The Wrench in Your Plans (Photo)
Tumblr media
(TW: Military, undiagnosed ADHD)
Biography:
Catalina Acosta is a true, blue southern woman. When her mother Diane left her dad with a less than one year old Cataline in tow, Javier made a strategic choice to stay put. Covington had been just a stop on their journey–the real goal had been Texas. That was where Diane’s mother lived, and where Javi and her had decided would be the best place to raise a child. Florida had seemed so…chaotic to Javier. All he wanted was a comfortable, safe place to raise his daughter.
But when Diane’s real plan had been found out–forcing her family to move states because of a multitude of frauds she had been caught up in–Javier felt like the chaos of his own youth was finding them again. Caught between tearing his family apart and trying again–he choice stability for his daughter.
Unfortunately, Diane didn’t feel as strongly about the whole concept of “family”. With little more than a goodbye, she set off for Texas–and for what Javier would later learn was a much bigger con than the one she had run from: stealing her mother’s fortune.
Looking around, Javier realized that Covington held promise for his daughter. The schools were nice, the kids seemed polite and best of all–it was quiet. A perfect place to raise his perfect daughter.
But Catalina wasn’t exactly…perfect. In fact, far from it. Her father, who had spent so much of his life protecting his little girl, could not do the one thing he needed to do to be successful: contain her. Cat was a determined little girl, an obstinate teen and a fierce woman.
Javier tried though, with every minute of tough love and thoughtful consequences, he desperately tried to keep her at bay. It was like his largest fear was happening in real time: Catalina was too much like her mother.
Cat could sense that–no matter how much her father said he loved her just as she was, she knew he didn’t like her. Not the Cat she really was. And let’s be honest–as much as Cat will tell you she doesn’t care–she does.
It’s just that she can’t help who she is–she’s impulsive, she’s passionate, she is scattered, she is emotional. It’s like she has so much of herself that it just doesn’t all fit in her body. It’s like she is wired differently than everyone else.
So, feeling like a constant disappointment her father (and teachers, and extended family, and friends, and…like probably anyone else she actually gives a shit about), she did the most illogical logical thing she could think of: joining the military. Because the one thing Cat had going for her was her brains. “If she could apply herself” (fuck you, Mr. Johnson), she really could make incredible strides. She particularly liked tinkering–and tinkering on big things. She had picked up a few odd shifts at the mechanic in town, and found a special love of the way the feel of fixing made things better. Parts and pieces had no expectation other than what they had to do.
So she joined the Navy as a mechanic–and for the first time in her life, she felt like she belonged. She felt like her skills were useful. That she was useful. She could follow these orders, no problem. She could handle this structure, no worries. While war had its drawbacks (understatement of the year, Cat), there was something…stimulating about the environment and she just fit.
Returning home was harder–her father had become more distant as he had heavily disapproved of her joining the military. Her friends had seemed to move on (hard to keep up when your thousands of miles away with no technology) and civilian life was exactly how she had left it. The best thing to come out of her return home was to find the little mechanic shop she had found herself all those years ago had been left for her to run–the previous owner could have thought of no one better and held it in his will for her until she came home. Perhaps she can start over. Or start again. Or  maybe just…start.

𝐢.    introduction.
Name: Dean Harlan
Age:  37
Faceclaim: Boyd Holbrook
Neighborhood: A hotel downtown
Occupation: Singer, songwriter, producer
Other: Voice and music claim is Morgan Wallen. Some music claims of Thomas Rhett as well.
𝐢𝐢.    biography.
As the oldest son and child in the humble Harlan household, Dean always felt the weight of responsibility. Some of his earliest memories were of his parents telling him to look out for his little bother, and then eventually his baby sister. Growing up, he was the babysitter, the guardian, the teacher, and the first friend to his two younger siblings. They were roles he never took lightly, strong familial bonds had always been pressed upon with upmost importance.
Even though Dean may have been the first one to pick up a guitar and learn the chords, it was Samuel, his brother, that had the most passion when it came to music. Rather than take the reigns he took a thoughtful step back and let his brother shine. On his own, either under a tree on the Montana property or in the comfort of his bedroom Dean would create melodies and write songs with ease. It came naturally to him. Fame and chasing down a recording career had never factored into his plans, however. That was all Samuel. Where his younger brother had dreamt big, Dean was practical in his approach to life. He wanted to own and work a ranch.
Somewhere along the way fate had intervened. Samuel had always struggled with stage fright. No matter how talented he was getting front of a crowd was a challenge, so Dean would usually go up on stage and play with his brother. Usually he tried to stay to the background and be a supportive presence, often he'd have to take the reigns and carry on the show, switching roles with Samuel. All it took was one performance at a fair in Missoula when Dean was 17 for someone in the crowd with influence to change not only his life but that of his entire family's.
A recording contract came with a big label. Dean wrote his own songs and played his own music, then set out on the road to promote and find an audience for it. He'd tried to turn it all down when he was scouted, but his parents and Samuel all gave him the blessing and encouraged him to take the chance. Everyone knew singing and songwriting was innate for him. It turned out to be a big thing. His records were big hits, songs and albums topped the charts, and his live shows really brought in the success. Dean had a charisma on stage, something that came out of him as in general he was a bit more of a quiet and stoic type.
With the growth and success of his music career; best selling albums, awards, top grossing tours, Dean went on to become one of country music's biggest and brightest. Aside from a breakup or two, his career was relatively drama free and without scandals. For him, the growing pains would hit much closer to home. Within his own very small circle, in fact. As Dean had gone on to live the life that Samuel had dreamt of his brother's envy had grown ugly with his skyrocketing success. It had never mattered that Dean had shared the spoils of it all with his family and closest friends, Samuel had begun to secretly hold Dean's success against him and began to poison the ears of anyone he could to harm Dean.
Real love had come in the way of a rising star he'd set to do a couple of songs with at the label's request in Nashville. Neslihan was a beautiful old soul that he'd connected with like no other and when they sang and made music together Dean had fallen in love almost instantly. At first they kept their budding romance a secret, not sure how their label and the fans would react, they eventually came out at the insistence of their managers and were met with a lot of love from country music lovers. They even toured together at first and Dean watched on with pride as Neslihan's star began to shine. As good as their relationship was it wasn't without some ups and downs sometimes. Relationships in general could be difficult but they were also touring entertainers with so much else to manage.
What Dean hadn't known was that Samuel had a crush on Neslihan, not before or even after he and her began seeing one another. It became one more thing his younger brother had held against him. To make matters worse, their relationship began to feel the pressure of his management telling him that he shouldn't be "carrying" the career of a young starlet. They were worried that over time she'd slow his career because much like how he was with Samuel, he was more than happy to take a backseat and let her shine in the spotlight. Likely in knowing how Dean would react no one communicated these things to him, at least not in anything more than a passing comment that he would shoot down. Instead, he'd never learn that they were going to Neslihan with their ideas.
Without his knowing it, a whole conspiracy came together behind him to push Neslihan out. His management and reps from the label were telling her that Dean had no real use for her and that things had run their course. Samuel, his own flesh and blood, poured some poison in her ear about Dean wanting to get together with an ex he was still in love with. Somehow even one of his exes was roped into it all, for her own selfish reasons, and told Neslihan he only really thought of her as a kid and didn't know how to let her go. It was all lies, all fabrication, a plot against their relationship, and none of it was his thoughts or feelings. They'd been living together, Dean was that serious and in love with Neslihan, but when he came home one day she and her things were gone.
Calls and voicemails when unanswered. Texts were left on read. Dean figured this was all Neslihan telling him it was over between them, he just needed her to say it to his face. A one way ticket from Nashville to Atlanta, Dean headed for the place he figured she'd go. Covington. It was her home town, her dearest friends and family were there, and he needed an answer.

𝐢.   introduction.
Name: Dominic King Age: 32 Faceclaim: Trevante Rhodes Neighborhood: Riveroak Farms Occupation: Owner of The Red Rabbit & Early Rise Gym
𝐢𝐢.   biography.
car accident tw, death tw
With nothing but a name from his parents, Dominic King entered life in an orphanage at just over a year old when his parents were killed in a tragic car accident and there being no next of kin to take the young Dominic. Life for him became a revolving door of foster homes, most finding his aloof behavior and lack of willingness to connect a problem. It went on for years until at 16, Dominic jumped off the merry-go-round of it all and set out to street life on his own with the friends he had made. The teenager had long been a hooligan by that point, running with a youth gang he was brought into and finding a sense of unity amongst the young boys that varied in their teenage years. It was the closest he had felt to what a family bond could have or might have been, considering the boys his brothers.
Trouble seemed to find him and the crew always but while Dominic wasn’t all that tall, he was athletically built and strong. He had a maturity about him beyond his years so when it came to fighting with rivals or people that simply didn’t want to put up with their wild behavior, Dominic almost always came out the victor. He attained a natural instinct when it came to fighting and that coupled with his physical capabilities, Dominic began fighting in an underground circuit for the monetary prize. It was another way to put food in his stomach and assure another day of survival as life on the streets could be brutal. He used some of his winnings to pay for training at an actual gym with boxing and MMA coaches, anything to give him the upper hand and also he entertained ideas of pursuing a career as one or the other.
Life had other ideas for Dominic and once hitting the club scene, finding himself swimming in both drugs and women like never before, partying became his way of spending most of his time. He still trained but Dominic had outgrown the boys he ran with. Other interests had a hold of him and his body began filling up with tattoos and piercings. He DJ’d around the city, did some occasional modeling, and picked up a camera becoming an amateur photographer. The other thing in his life that was setting him free of the shackles the street had on him was that after 18 he was allowed the inheritance and will his parents had left him. It turned out that his father had been a wealthy man, having been a prominent real estate developer around the South—it left Dominic with millions suddenly at his disposal. Aside from some traveling, he wanted to be smart about the money so he bought space in a high rise, the top floor of the building and began renovating to create a club of his own.
Citta was the name he gave his ultra-lounge and since it wasn’t a regular nightclub it offered Atlanta’s residents and visitors a different experience. Dominic had mostly avoided any serious relationships in his life when it came to romance, there were a few ladies over time when he reached his twenties that he became close to and had what could’ve been considered a relationship. As always, he simply had a hard time connecting with people on a deep level and it was usually because he saw the end before it ever really began. Now, at 32, he’s living life how he had never imagined—with a popular lounge and more than enough money in the bank, leaving him to enjoy rather than struggle which is what the once orphan thought it would all be.  Ending up in Covington was something he took longer to consider, though when the time came he was easily able to relocate himself and start up like he had when he’d first come into money.
The move into small town life and out of the big city came out of a need for big change. A successful lounge in Atlanta was great but Dominic kept falling into bad habits and old ways when it came to the club and party scene. He’d also gotten into a bit of trouble and needed an extreme escape from the life he’d been living. The trek to Covington was drastic but it felt needed. Once there and somewhat settled he opened up Early Rise Gym, and the entrepreneur mindset he’d taken on decided on a strip club as well. The Red Rabbit was born out of a desire to stay in touch with the nightlife but also to offer Covington a little more flavor than what he’d seen in his house hunt upon deciding to move. When it came to the gym he wasn’t competitive any longer in the underground circuit but a grappling coach convinced him to keep training and Dominic wanted to give space to those like minded when it came to fitness.  He’s disciplined but the night life still calls to him more than it should.

tw: sibling death, tw: drowning accident, tw: boating accident, tw: emotional abuse, tw: mental abuse, tw: physical abuse mentioned, tw: alcoholism
cooper elias hawkins was born on cctober 31st back in 1984 to two loving and hardworking parents named william and heather (nee’ cooke) hawkins. the hawkins clan was very well known and well liked in their town of southport, north carolina which is where they resided and where cooper had grown up. william & heather are very successful owners of a diner that’s family owned. it’s beloved in their town.
ryan hawkins was the first of the hawkins clan, then ethan, the annie, then cooper and finally the baby megan whom they call meg. growing up cooper idolized his older siblings, his brothers were his best friends and his sister annie was someone whom he admired and aspired to be like. meg was someone cooper always took care of and adored. the hawkins siblings were well known and well liked by the town and could do no wrong.
they were one big happy family. that was until one 4th of July annie and cooper had decided to take their family boat out onto the water alone, without their parents permission. he was 11 at the time and annie was a little bit older. they drove it illegally, but annie really wanted to go and she always had a way of making cooper follow in her footsteps.
they were having a good time and being safe until annie decided to jump into the water after cooper had told her and begged her not too. it was a while until cooper had realized she hadn’t come up from the water. panicked and scared, cooper illegally drove the boat back to shore for some help. once reaching his parents & some cops, they ruled it as a drowning accident. they always said that annie held the family together and her death tore it apart.
his father was furious and devastated and wrongfully accused & blamed cooper for annies death even though he knew it wasn’t his fault. growing up for cooper wasn’t easy anymore. he wasn’t the happy go lucky kid he used to be. his father mentally and emotionally, & had sometimes physically abused him for years, and his two older brothers followed in their fathers footsteps. cooper closed himself off and didn’t talk to them until he actually needed too. it killed him in a way since cooper and his older brothers used to get along so well. the only ones who truly cared about him and worried about his well being was his mother & his little sister meg.
he kept to himself and got into reading and writing. he hid himself away in his room, and only had a couple of friends. but even then he was quiet and aloof. cooper excelled in school and kept his grade average high. he graduated high school with honors and had decided to move as far away from southport as possible to get a fresh start.  choosing the city that never sleeps, cooper was accepted into almost every nyc college but ended up choosing brooklyn college. he majored in & has a master in criminal justice, and minored in florescence science.
however that wasn’t what he wanted to do in life. after graduating college with honors again, he decided to go into the academy and become a police officer.  he wanted to help people. he wanted to save people. in ways it made up for him not being able to save his sister. not being able to help his family. so he decided to help the city instead. after a couple years of being a cop, he took the detectives exam and has been/is in the homicide unit ever since.
he had met & fallen in love with his then partner, and they were together for quite sometime. they were really professional but somehow their then Sargent found out, and in order for his ex to stay in the unit, cooper decided to transfer. he didn’t want to mess up her career & he wanted to protect her from himself. they ended on pretty bad terms & havent spoken since.  so he transferred to covington, massachuettes to get yet another fresh start in life. he’s still a homicide detective and has been living in ashford for ten years.
the memory of his sisters death still haunts him. and when it does he doesn’t sleep at night but writers in a journal in the morning & keeps it to himself as hes writing to her. cooper has had trouble with commitment and relationships. still doesn’t get along with his father, nor his two older brothers but it super close to his sister meg & his mom. only goes home for their birthdays.
cooper can be pretty self-destructive sometimes & will purposely get into bar fights but then will use his “I’m a detective” excuse to get out of it. he drinks, and sometimes his unit thinks it can be a problem. he smokes every morning but only in the morning. still loves to read and write and secretly keeps journals and writes in them. overall he’s really just a cinnamon roll who wants to love & be loved. & wants to do good in this world. make up for his past mistakes.

⸻ ♡ 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆 ⟨ the details ⟩
Name: Nicola Grimm
Nicknames: Nic, Nicki, Cola, tba

Age: 35
Neighborhood: Orchird Park
Occupation: owner of The Lost Page and Spellbound Society
Orientation: lesbian
Status: single
Residency: local, left at 18, returned 10 years ago
⸻ ♡ 𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐘 ⟨ the past ⟩
Throughout the course of her life there had really only been one thing Nicola Grimm had been passionate about: art. In any form in came in, she loved it and always tripped of in awe of it when she found herself in the presence of it.
She was born and raised as a middle child to a pair of Covington's elite somewhere among the mansions of Avonlea Terrace.
Most of her youth was dedicated to ballet, her mother's choice and insistence, and she was quite good at it. The performances she was a part of caught the important eyes of some top trainers and directors all the way up in New York and as far reaching as London and Paris.
At her father's pushing, Nicola was also quite the impressive scholar, having read all the classics by the time she'd entered high school. She was a part of a literature society and had her own bookclub as a teenager. If she ever brought home a grade less than an A Nicola would be punished.
Though all of that, whenever she found some peace and alone time, Nicola escaped into the world of paints and brushes to canvas. She experimented with colors, textures, mediums, even the styles in which she painted. Everything she felt and endured was put onto canvas as a way of purging. When she couldn't paint she would sketch and draw in a notebook, finding little reprieves throughout the day when needed.
Aside from growing up with her family's wealth and prominence she'd always known that she was different. Not because of the ballet or high achieving scholastics, but something further than that, something deeper and not well accepted in the south when she was growing up. When all of her friends were becoming boy crazy and chasing them around the playground, she was sneaking peeks at girls. This of course was kept a secret and something she kept buried within herself for years, only coming out when she was caught read handed by her father with one of her friends in a compromising situation.
That incident had her sent off to Paris where she attended university and worked to be apart of the ballet. Eventually Nicola made it in, never a Prima Ballerina, but a principle dancer. It wasn't good enough for her parents who pushed for more yet still found it brag worthy.
The biggest blessing being so far away from home meant that Nicola had the room to be herself, find herself, and enjoy herself. It took some time for the strict regimen to ween off but she found herself with friends all over the city and beyond going to restaurants, cafés, art shows, concerts, etc. There was even time for her to paint freely, whenever she wanted, and never any shame in someone seeing what made it onto her canvases.
In Paris Nicola was also free to date whom she wanted out in the open. Without the shame of her parents or their friends seeing. Without schoolmates judging. She was a new person in France, she was Nicola Grimm. Her first girlfriend was an art major at the university and after seeing Nicola's paintings she introduced her to a curator. One thing led to another and all of her paintings sold out after a show.
It hadn't meant that her art career began. Still she was under her parents thumb in many ways, afraid to rebel too much as she had been conditioned her entire life to please them. Nicola continued to create and sell her work on the side of university and ballet. It wasn't until she received a phone call one day from one of her siblings that their father had been arrested on tax fraud charges. With that news something broke free within her and Nicola say fuck ballet and left Paris with another girlfriend upon graduation.
They traveled around Europe for a while, spent extra time in Rome, but Nicola eventually came home after her father was sent to prison. Some glimpses of his trial she'd caught on the news, she felt betrayed by him. The man's harsh rules and judgements had her living in fear for so long, away and outside of her true self, when all along he'd been the one that was wrong.
When Nicola and her girlfriend settled in Covington, she used the money she'd made from selling her artwork to buy The Lost Page. Literature was still a passion of hers and she wanted to reclaim that from the years her father had dictated her enjoyment of the written word. Her witchy, spiritual girlfriend had convinced her to also buy Spellbound Society, so that she had something to do and something to run. And run was what she had ended up doing just over a year into Nicola's hometown. The small town America life hadn't been for her she'd said in a note she'd left behind.
So, Nicola lives making art and running her shops. She doesn't know why she's kept Spellbound Society other than it would always be a nice reminder of someone special at a special time in her life.

⸻ ✧ 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆 ⟨ the details ⟩
Name: Elijah Lawson
Nicknames: Eli, tba
Pronouns: he/him
Age: 34
Neighborhood: Riveroak Farms
Occupation: GBI detective
Orientation: heterosexual
Status: single
Residency: local, left at 18, returned 11 years ago
⸻ ✧ 𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐘 ⟨ the past ⟩
With a name like Lawson some would say he was destined to be in law enforcement one day. His path to getting there wasn't quite as simple as that. Born and raised in Covington, his father a blue collar man and proud, and his mother a teacher, Elijah came into the world as the third of four children. With two older sisters and eventually a younger brother, he sometimes slipped through the watchful eyes of his involved parents.
In school he played basketball and was a great running back in football until size became too big of a factor. He was average at best. School bored him but he did well enough to keep his parents happy. They'd always stressed the importance of going to university one day, especially following in his older sisters footsteps. Though, Eli always considered them overachievers.
First heartbreak came at 13 when his crush turned him down after he'd asked her to the dance. Years later she'd end up marrying him but at the time she wasn't allowed to date and eventually the rumor went around that her best friend had a crush on him and she was just doing the right thing.
Went off to university at Temple where he was pre-law with the intention of becoming a civil rights lawyer. It changed when he'd been witness to a crime and would later see the defendant get off scott free. Even with his testimony, the defense outshined the prosecution. Elijah became determined to be the best prosecutor ever seen, but again that would change when he'd receive a call from his sister that her best friend had been found murdered.
The case would go on to become a mystery and remain unsolved, giving him a first hand view of the destruction something horrific like could inflict on a family. His own sister's mental health deteriorated and she became a agoraphobic, afraid to leave her own house. With his law degree in hand, Elijah found himself with a badge as a detective with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.
When it comes to the job he's relentless and tenacious, unwavering in his pursuit of the the truth. He understood through personal experience that punishments rarely ever fit the crime, what people wanted/needed most was answers. So, he works and works to give that much.
At 19 Elijah had been reunited with his teenage crush from home when they crossed paths at a party in Philly. She was going to another big school in the same city and they decided that fate had intervened for them. They married a year later. After a few years the young love couldn't survive the hardships of life, not when Elijah had been so effected by the tragedy that changed the course of future careers. When he needed to go home to Covington, she decided that she couldn't follow and that was that.
It took time for him to work his way up the ladder and to gain respect with his fellow agents. Most considered him overly passionate about his job, that he had an inability to turn it off at the end of the day, and his colleagues were right. The first few years Elijah had trouble sleeping at night with the things he'd known and seen, but as time wore on he walled up as a way to protect himself.
One after the other, which hadn't been all that surprising, his parents passed. It drove his sister deeper into herself. With her agoraphobia she'd been living with their parents so to keep her safe and from any kind of institution, Elijah moved her into his home. With work and his dedication to it, he's not there as much as he should be anyway, so it felt like a deal to have someone living in and taking care of the place.
Every time he's tried his hand at dating or relationships or love it's failed. The job demands too much of him, takes up too much space within him, that he's understood he can't give someone else what they need. Time and attention.
After ten years he's gotten to a place of looking ahead and he's become weary, wondering if he's even made a difference or if he needs to continue the fight he's put himself into through a different side of the law. He's kept his law degree active but has never acted on it, never worked a day as a lawyer, yet it has come in handy or in play from time to time. Sometimes he thinks of making the switch, wondering if it would free up other aspects of his life.

ALL THAT IS GOLD DOES NOT GLITTER, NOT ALL THOSE WHO WANDER ARE LOST;
Name: Seth Elmasry
Nickname: tbd
Gender & Pronouns: Cis male & he/him
Age: 37
Occupation: Film & television producer
Origins: Alexandria, Egypt
Neighborhood: Avonlea Terrace
Relationship status: divorced
SUMMARY: Born in Egypt and raised in Southern California from the age of 3, Seth and his parents followed his grandparents to Los Angeles. His grandfather had been a big film and television producer in Egypt and expanded his production empire by making a name for himself in Hollywood. One day he was meant to be the future of Babel Productions and had been groomed from early childhood to eventually take over. His entire life he'd been close with some of the industry's elite, even when he went off to Columbia University to study literature. From there he studied film at NYU and a few years post graduation had met Michelle Yoon. Their relationship burned hot and bright with him bringing her out to California to meet his family and help jump start her career. 2-3 years later they were married and they each were finding their successes in the film industry. However, six years later and a bitter, petty divorce freshly signed he's finding in some ways he has to start all over again. Only this time much more guarded and against letting himself get used again. In Covington to shoot a film and a television show in Atlanta Seth is aware this is his ex-wife's hometown.
BIOGRAPHY
trigger warnings: none that i can think of!
The Egyptian born Seth Elmasry immigrated to Los Angeles, California with his parents when he was a mere three years of age. His father, a famed writer and producer, had followed his own parents out to the promise land of Hollywood where his father had started up a media company. Money and connections in the film industry, especially Los Angeles, made things happen. The patriarch of the Elmasry family had both of those in spades. By the time Seth's father brought his own family out to join his grandparents the production company was already a powerhouse, churning out movie and television hits.
Raised Muslim and with family still remaining in Egypt the Elmasrys visited often, giving Seth a strong sense of his culture so that it wasn't lost as he grew up in the glittering Hollywood Hills of America. Up until he was a teenager the main language spoken at home was Egyptian Arabic and to this day Seth not only remains fluent in the language but also continues to speak it with his family and has found it useful when it comes to his profession as well.
It went without saying that Seth grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth, but despite that, he managed to stay humble. A scholar and sports star in school he contributed to making the family name shine. He was a bragging point for his powerful parents and grandparents at industry events and thus began Seth's networking at a young, tender age. By the time he went off to university in New York, studying literature and film at Columbia then New York University, he was already touted as the future of Babel Productions.
Even before he graduated or earned any degrees Seth was writing, directing, and producing for the family company. For both television and film. With a natural head for business and a charm about him that let him easily schmooze he continued the drive for pushing Babel Productions to the top of the Hollywood food chain.
It was working on a production in New York when he'd meet a woman with a dream that had the drive to match it. That wasn't uncommon, for Seth to encounter talent wherever he went, but Michelle had made a mark on him. At first, they were only friends, then that dynamic changed quickly and their romance was quiet between the two of them but absolute rapid fire in growth. A year into knowing one another he invited the starlet out to LA to meet his family and make her dreams come true. Seth had the power, ability, and desire to make things happen for her and the man was foolishly in love, so why not?
Two years later they were married and Michelle was getting seen on screens. It wasn't just him or his family name that got her into the right castings and rubbing elbows with the right people in the pool of who knows who. His family, who had accepted her in despite her not being Muslim, also desired making those dreams of hers come true. One, it made Seth happy. Two, it made the family look good. And three, she had the talent. Unfortunately, talent meant little if there was no star power. Despite all he had done to make his wife's dreams come to fruition he began to feel her pull away. She seemed ungrateful for the auditions he'd snagged for her, and worse Seth had begun to feel a bit used.
Once Michelle had found success from the work he and his family had put into it, she began distancing herself from him. Being connected to a big name was great, but then it seemed more like it needed to be her own rather than theirs. Without knowing her actions, Seth would later find out from his grandfather that Michelle had been getting work on her own. Which, that in itself wouldn't have been a bad thing, it was the doing it behind his back that had hurt. Six years of marriage began to crumble and slip down the drain. All they did towards the end before he was served with divorce papers was fight whenever in proximity of each other.
With every intention of letting her go, Seth found himself in the same town when productions of a television series his company was producing were to begin in Atlanta. Even closer when a movie his company were producing were to begin filming in Covington.

━ INTRODUCING DEVANSH ‘DEV’ RAINA
full name: Devansh Raina
nickname(s): Dev, Ansh, Raina
age: 36
birthdate: January 16th 1988
occupation: Owner of Southern Elegance Resort and Spa
currently living in: Orchird Park
gender: Cis Male
pronouns: He/Him
hometown: Seattle, Washington
hello hello !! please give this a like if you’d like me to pop into your dm’s to plot !!
BIOGRAPHY;
Devansh Raina was born to Anil and Sarita Raina in Seattle Washington. His parents had both migrated from India to the United States in the early 1980’s. He had a relatively middle class childhood, nothing to rave about. He was an average student at best, but he was always very active at school. Whether that was sports or different extracurriculars like debate team. Education was something his parents had put a lot of emphasis on but Devansh just wasn’t academically inclined in the same way his parents were. He mostly skirted through on average grades and was happy with that.
When he turned 10, he was told they were moving from Seattle to somewhere in Georgia. That was the worst news for him because he had liked his life in Seattle but at that age he didn’t get to have a say in the family decisions and so they packed up and shifted to Covington, Georgia. The first few months were exceptionally difficult for Dev. He found it hard to adjust, especially have coming in the middle of the school year. But slowly he began to make friends and the next couple years of his life were smooth sailing.
When Devansh was in his last year of high school, he'd thought long and hard about what he'd wanted to do and while no real decisions had been made…his parents, specifically his father was adamant that he go to university and pursue higher education. Fights ensued of course until Devansh loudly declared he was eighteen and therefore able to make his own decisions in life. He’d chosen to travel. He would go around back to Seattle and figure out his own path. Of course his mother was extremely unhappy with this decision, losing her little boy that way but his father had declared that he wanted nothing to do with his son which suited Dev just fine.
He’d travelled by bus across the country, up to Seattle—lived there for a few weeks before making his way down the coast. He’d ended up in San Diego at the same time as one of his closest friends from his time in Covington, Ryan Parrish. Hearing that the other planned on enlisting gave Devansh a renewed interest in the same. And when he’d done it as well, much to his parent's dismay, there was no looking back. Maybe it was the fact that having his buddy with him made it easier, or maybe it was just that he felt like he'd finally found something he was good at but Devansh was actually feeling content for once in his life.
They deployed and he served the country right alongside his other mates. It had been a lot for him emotionally because while hed been aware of what he was signing up for—somewhere the gravity of it didn’t sink in till much later.
The sad part was that he was quite skilled in his combat, one of the best  in their unit but when those moments of pain arose, losing friends and other fellow marines—Devansh couldn't take it. He withdrew and that had caused a lot of personal reflection within himself. He felt like a failure in every single way. He didn’t know why he’d done this, feeling like he’d not only let down himself, but his parents and ultimately even the country.
It took a lot of work—but he’d managed to figure out another course of action. He’d go to school. He’d go and get a degree—wanting to make his mother proud especially. He’d enrolled at Boston University and while he was an older student, he still worked hard and got his bachelors of science in business administration. It had felt like the easiest course of action and had helped secure him to a job right there in the city.
Cut to a couple years later, his father had passed due to a sudden heart attack and instantly despite their estranged relationship—Devansh had returned home to Covington. He’d stayed with his mother for a few weeks before deciding he could not be living with her for too long and ventured out on his own. Devansh couldn’t abandon her completely despite wishing he could go back to Boston, but he’d stay…for her. He started out in Downtown in a small studio apartment, working some odd jobs here and there until his father's will was read.
He had inherited his father’s pride and joy—the Southern Elegance Resort and Spa. Now while he had a business degree, he did not feel like he could be a qualified owner/manager of the hotel and was ready to sell it. Only—he’d gotten emotionally blackmailed by his grieving mother every single time he’d brought that topic up. And that is how he’s currently living in Covington, trying to find buyers on the side for the hotel because his mother is finally doing better post his father’s death and he is ready to get the hell out of Georgia.

IN A NUTSHELL. . .
michelle was born and raised in covington to two parents who were exceptional. she, was not. she was your run of the mill girl, ordinary in all senses of the word. until she discovered her passion for acting when she auditioned for a school play. but performing on the covington stage and the big screen were two different things. her parents worried about her lofty aspirations, which was why at 18 she left to new york on a compromise. a 4 year degree with a 2 year ultimatum. if she could make it in the acting world, no one would be prouder. otherwise, she would pick the safe path they wanted for her. and when it felt as though she was running right up against the clock, connor vaughn entered her life and plucked her out of the shadows and threw her into the limelight. michelle left new york with him at 23 and was shown the glitz and glamor of hollywood. within 2 years, he'd become her world and she pledged her life to him. 6 years and many arguments and accusations later, they split. she might still have made something of herself without a powerful husband in her corner. she certainly couldn't with him fighting against her. she just returned to covington, tail between her legs.
IN THE WEEDS. . .
The first-born daughter to a surgeon father and a radiologist mother, there was nothing particularly special about Michelle Yoon when she was born. She was average height, average weight, and healthy. There was nothing distinguishing about her as she grew up either. Her grades in school were always mediocre, much to her parents disappointment. She lacked any talent in sports and she was not particularly musically inclined either. She was never the worst, but she was never the best. Michelle always fell squarely in the middle of the pack in everything that she did. A fact that her parents grew up accept about their eldest daughter as she continued to grow up. They stopped trying to push her to be more than she could and made peace with the fact that their daughter would be average.
It wasn’t until the sixth grade school play that Michelle’s first real talent shined through. Her parents had never considered theater and it was truly on a whim that she ended up auditioning for the part of Violet Beauregard in the school’s production of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. And despite the short stint she had on the stage, she was loved by the audience and their school director. From there, every year she was cast in a supporting role in the school productions. Her lack of vocal range and tuning always cost her the lead, but she quickly discovered not only what she loved, but what she could see herself excelling at.
Michelle’s parents were not as supportive, worried that their daughter’s ambitions were lofty and unattainable. They supported her interest, but it could not be a profession, they cautioned. And perhaps in retrospect, she would think that she ought to have listened to them. Instead, they reached a compromise. She pursued a degree in business as they requested, leaving Covington upon graduation to go to school in New York. But on the side, she took acting classes to continue to hone her skills, auditioning for extra roles in a number of productions while there. It was only upon graduating that she struck a deal with her parents. Two years. She would try her luck at acting for two years. If she still failed after that, then she would follow the traditional and secure path they wished for her.
The two years were full of struggle. Musicals were out of the picture and though she was able to play a role or two in some plays, they were frequently locally produced and did not garner large crowds. No matter what she did, her parents supported her and were in the front row, trying to cheer her on. But it was hard to hide that they did not have faith that at the end of the two years, she would actually succeed. Perhaps it was desperation, perhaps it was naivete. But at 23, she was discovered, as Connor Vaughn would say. As a big name in Hollywood, hailing from a family of producers, he claimed to have seen the raw talent hidden beneath her unassuming exterior. A talent that needed the right person to polish it and showcase it to the world. He gave her all the assurance she’d never heard growing up. He had faith in her in a way that her family never had. And he had the connections to ensure that she could be a star.
Suddenly she was whisked away to the other coast, thrust into the lavish high life of Los Angeles. It was an adjustment, but Connor helped her navigate this new world. With no other contacts, and no other friends, it was inevitable that her entire world got wrapped up in this magnetic man. Soon he was introducing her to directors, helping her find the best agents who would bring her opportunities. None for a lead. But she was finally on a set of a movie, acting in supporting roles that slowly gained her some notoriety. Of course, more than her talent, it was her connection to Connor that people noticed. A fact that Michelle was blissfully unaware of for her first few years in Hollywood.
It was a whirlwind romance, intense, passionate, and all consuming. Within two years, he was on bended knee claiming that she was the one he wanted to spend his life with. In a place where she saw couples go years without commitment, Michelle felt special. Cherished. The love lasted only a few years more. As she got older, as she matured enough to see that people were failing to appreciate the talent she possessed, she grew more and more disillusioned. The roles she got did not match her caliber, she’d claim. She should be grateful for what she was getting, Connor threw back. On more than one occasion they fought about her supposed thankless attitude. She refused the roles he got her, starting to wonder if he was the one hindering her growth. This put another strain on their marriage as she pursued opportunities outside of his projects. And when she did, Michelle began to see a bit more success. It was still no leading role, but they were significant enough supporting roles that she felt as though she were more than just Connor Vaughn’s wife.
This did not bode well for the longevity of their marriage and by the time they hit their six-year anniversary, he was serving her with divorce papers, telling her that he could no longer be with her. It was tragic but expected, and with her pride intact, she signed her relationship away in the hopes of continuing with her career without the man she saw as her shackle. Within a year of signing the papers, she realized that her talent would never survive about Connor’s influence. He was a spiteful man, determined to prove to her that if he could build her up, he could tear her down as well. And tear her down he did. Little by little, she was relegated to roles that were well beneath her past projects. Rejection after rejection, closed door after closed door, Michelle learned the hard way what it meant to make an enemy in Hollywood as an outsider. Dejected and devastated, she threw in the towel and promptly returned home, licking her wounds.

Relationship status: Single
SUMMARY: Born and raised in Southern California until senior year of high school, Caria is the youngest of two children. Throughout her youth she struggled with a learning disability and insomnia. Doctors tried a few things but Caria eventually decided to find her own way through it. As a teenager she began playing poker online, up to twelve games running at a time, and won some big money. The game and that style of play really played into her neurodivergence. Just before she started her last year of high school her family moved from LA to Covington when her father got a job transfer. She eventually followed in her older sister, Melisa, footsteps and attended Emory University. It was a struggle for her but she made friends and even formed a band with a few, Black Sheep, that died off when uni became too demanding. She studied business. Poker took her around the world where she played some high stake tournaments. In Dublin she met and married a charismatic man on a whim and hadn't realized he was playing her. A year into the marriage she woke up to divorce papers and an empty bank account. It's taken years to rebuild and start a business, Remedy Wellness, but she has a little boutique shop downtown and is happy for some stability in her life.
BIOGRAPHY
trigger warnings: gambling, learning disability, medication
Born Caria Karatan in Los Angeles, California, life was pleasant and on the verge of cookie cutter. Her parents had immigrated from Turkey and were good people from good families that had a sense of community and wholesomeness about them that could have been considered boring. At least Caria did growing up in that household. While boring was far from a bad thing, it was simply uneventful and could lead to destruction for someone that wanted more from life than the normal milestones that way of living offered. Life spans were short; something Caria learned when her first grandparent passed away when she was just seven years old. It was that event alone that seemed to really draw out her ADHD and thus began the complications of keeping her within the means of the family dynamic. As cliché as it was, she was the youngest child with an older sister named Melisa and often went unnoticed unless there was a problem. As a child and into her early teens, it was mostly that she couldn’t sit still and she had far too much energy for her parents to contain and keep after her sister as well. So Caria was thrown into sports, which worked when it came to expelling some of the restlessness, but the issue was more in the mind and not the body. Too often she would stay up all night because her brain wouldn’t shut down for sleep, it would constantly spin on thoughts and daydreams and thus began her insomnia.
Intelligence was something she very much possessed. Caria was observant in the sharpest of ways with an eidetic memory and broad interest in varying topics and subjects, but the problem was focus. Unless something strong captured her attention and she was able to force herself into a hyper-focus then her mind would bounce around and it made homework and tests an absolute challenge. No matter how well she knew the material or could figure it out on the fly, Caria would often blank on tests and couldn’t buckle down to focus on homework. The result was too often subpar grades, scores below her intelligence level but because of a disability and standardized methods of schooling her IQ was never genuinely reflected and it all had an effect on her self esteem. Caria’s sister, just as smart, did very well in school and was praised rightfully so for it but Caria was always a disappointment or in trouble because she couldn’t perform the same way.
When the insomnia led to her sleeping at school or passing out from exhaustion, her parents sought out professional help. Caria was sent from her regular doctor to see a psychiatrist and the journey of various medications began, all just to get her to sleep. Some meds would leave her groggy and feeling like a zombie, others would make her sleep walk, and then there was one or two that would generally work but her neurodivergence would combat it. It took a while for her psychiatrist to recognize and finally diagnose Caria with her neurodivergence, but that was a whole other trip of medications that Caria opted out of quickly in hating how it all made her feel. All the medications for this or that just did more damage to her self esteem, feeling like she was one issue and problem after another. She never really began acting out but her restless nature led Caria to seek adventure and whatever would get her blood running. Whether that meant racing cars and staying out all night with friends, or going into places she was far too young to really be able to handle like pool halls and card rooms then she seemed game for it. One thing for sure about Caria was that she was competitive.
Due to a job transfer, the Karatan family moved east to the Georgia countryside and settled in a city named Covington. It was a tough move mostly for Caria who had a final year of high school to finish and of course having to re-explain her situation to new teachers and a new school system. Thankfully her file did most of the talking for her and her parents and while Melisa attended the local university she pushed her way through a new high school where she felt completely out of place. It was only a year and Caria made her family happy by graduating with a GPA that was good enough to get her accepted at the same local university her older sister was attending. During her time at Emory University she met and made friends pretty quickly with a couple of girls, who would soon begin to feel more like the friendships she’d had growing up. Like they had grown up together. The three girls were together all of the time and formed a band they called Black Sheep after an amazing karaoke night, and for a while the band took more of her free time than her cards did. Eventually the band ceased as university became more difficult and their lives pulled them in different directions.
By the time she was nineteen she had made her first six figure income year, and by twenty-one her first six figure income day all by playing poker. It wasn’t that she was some exceptional card shark, it was more so that she had talent but a very sharp mind. Not only could she calculate and make raw decisions on the fly it was something her neurodivergence and hyper-focus could attach to. The amount of brain activity it takes to play poker would often exhaust the average person but Caria could have ten to twelve online games going on at once and it played perfectly into the rapid fire way her mind worked. She definitely experienced some low points since no one always wins, and she had some hard losses but for the most part Caria was living a life that was beyond the wildest dreams of someone from a conventional family. She was able to travel the world and follow the live poker tours, sit at the table with some of the greats and legendary players and hold her own — occasionally winning. But most of all, Caria was able to live a free and independent life, one that wasn’t structured in the typical contemporary fashion. She did make it through university but she didn’t have to run off to a corporate job or punch a clock anywhere. Caria got to live life however she wanted and she loved it.
At twenty-three, after a night of playing cards in a back room in Dublin, Caria married an Irishman she’d spent the night before with drinking and just having fun. It wasn’t love, it was just exhilaration. He was wild and adventurous and matched exactly with where she was in life at that point in time and she was careless in not recognizing that he was just in it for the ride and whatever he could get out of the nuptials. And she didn’t recognize that he was milking her for all she was worth until it was too late; nearly a year into the marriage and waking up one morning with divorce papers and an empty bank account. Through the divorce he held his claims that he really did love her, even called her his soulmate, but that he just didn’t want to be married and tied to one woman. Either way, Caria got screwed and learned more lessons about life. Making her way through the world and through life as a professional poker player certainly made for an incredible way to live.
Broke and then a divorcee, Caria moved back to Covington to stay with her sister for a while who still lived in the city. It took a little while to build herself back up and fill her accounts again, especially after losing her confidence when it came to the distractions of her personal life. After working mid-level games for a while as a rounder, Caria eventually moved up and began playing again before the disaster that was her marriage. She continued her mix of both online games and hitting actual tables to have the feel of cards in her hand and just enjoying the rush of high stakes a little more when sitting at a table with people that were likely to kill you over what most everyone considers just a “game”. The time soon came for Caria to look for her own place and give her sister her space back, especially since Melisa had a serious relationship blooming and they deserved their privacy. She didn’t really like it, the thought of living alone made her sad and contemplate how lonely she was willing to feel. Caria refused to move back home into her parents house, feeling like a failure if she had to do that so instead she found a house and settled in. It looked like Covington was going to be permanent.
After the move, with her pockets and bank account lined and cushioned, Caria decided to make a big change. It was time to put her university degree to use and all the certifications she’d earned as an esthetician. She’d been doing the research for years, so why not? Caria opened up her own shop: Remedy Wellness. Where she sells handmade healing products to soothe and cleanse the mind, body, and soul. Since many of her products are made with CBD, she has a relationship with a local grower and in the last two years bought part of that company. Caria ended up in a battle with Square over CBD and eventually won after sticking it out and standing by her products. They did almost put her out of business though and she’s feeling rather proud and blessed now. Though being a solitary business owner hasn’t been without hardships, last year she lost her entire inventory to humidity and was devastated and had to completely rebuild her stock. Since it’s just her and two employees making everything, working the shop, and since it’s her only source of income, Caria got worried about the bottom falling out on her. During that really difficult time, battling Square and losing her inventory, when she was feeling her lowest, Caria nearly sold her business for next to nothing. Thankfully, she stuck it out and what she will tell anyone in making their own business: trust the process.
