Okay hear me out about this Klance au:
Prison pen pals
Keith is in juvenile detention and there, Keith is signed up for this stupid pen pal program with a local highschool.
Lance is a local highschooler and has to write to whatever prisoner he's been assigned to for a class as extra credit because he's failing the fuck out of social studies and Mrs. Honey is a bitch.
The assignment entails keeping a correspondence with the prisoner long enough to at least have exchanged 3 letters and be able to tell the teacher something your pen pal said in the letters (their experience in juvenile detention or something). This is why his other classmates asked questions like "What's it like in prison?" and "Do you have any friends?" You know, easy questions that they could have their pen pals answer and basically be done.
Lance chose to be extra and ask stupid stuff like, "What happens when you drop the soap?" and "Did you kill someone?" in addition to the normal questions.
Keith answered really vaguely and sassily which annoyed Lance. He ended up getting intrigued by the mystery of who Keith Kogane is and ends up continuously sending him letters.

Ok but. Au where Keith was more emersed in the canon stuff as a child. Texas helped Krolia write a letter to Keith for him to read when he was old enough so he'd know that his mom didn't just abandon him. It tells him what the knife is for, where she went, why she left, and that he can't ever tell a human what he is or he could be in danger. It also has detailed illustrations because I like to believe Krolia draws.
When Keith was little, Texas would put him to bed with Galra legends and tales of Voltron. Texas also kept all of Krolia's illustrations of things in space. One of those illustrations included a rough map of where the blue lion was.
When Texas died, Keith inherited a box with his knife, the letter, and Krolia's drawings. It was locked but Keith's also a menace and picked the lock at 14. He never told or showed a soul what was in that box.
That was until the night he saved Shiro. Keith was prepared. Nobody else understood what was going on and Keith did not slow down to explain.
I'd also really like to see Keith's face when he learns that the bedtime stories that he was told from about ages 1-6 were true and that Princess Allura is alive.
That is all.

Here's the theater au that some of you wanted to see:
Ok so Lance joins this play to get closer to his crush, Allura. She's really pretty and auditioning for the princess in this play that was written by a group of students and approved by Adam (the theater club director). Obviously, he's going to try out for the prince/fiance character. Plus, her character kisses him.
And, they both get the parts! Hurray! Maybe they can have a romantic date where they rehearse their lines!
One problem. This group of students was the GSA and they refuse to write a straight Romeo and Juliet rip off. So, the princess has a lesbian lover, the court jester (played by the lovely Romelle). And also, Allura has a major crush on Romelle (it's reciprocated). And plus, the prince ends up developing a crush on a knight in training (reluctantly played by Keith).
Ok now basic explanation of the play:
Princess Rebecca is to meet her fiance, Prince Isaac. He travels with his favorite knight, Elijah, to Rebecca's kingdom. Issac seems smitten by Rebecca once he meets her.
She then realizes that she can't bear marrying Isaac and runs away with with her court jester, Lydia. But, just before leaving in the middle of the night, she plants a kiss on Isaac's sleeping forehead. (She also has a kiss scene with Lydia while running away).
Elijah comforts Isaac about having his fiance leave him in the dead of night and it turns into a star gazing session. The play ends with them kissing as the sun rises. (The running away happens on the same night as the stargazing.)
Of course, throughout the play, Rebecca and Lydia very obviously flirt and have some scenes where they talk about wanting to run away together. Ya know, girl stuff. Then, Isaac's character has this whole thing where it gets increasingly obvious that he's convinced himself that he's in love with Rebecca so he doesn't have to confront his feelings for Elijah.
Now sadly, Lance cannot read the very obvious homosexual undertones or the second half of the script for that matter because he didn't know that Rebecca and Isaac don't end up marrying. He read the lines that he needed to for the audition. He swore he would read the rest before the audition but he kept getting distracted.
Now Keith's pov. Keith is a costume designer for the theater club and does some technical stuff behind the scenes with Pidge and Hunk too. He was helping out by reading some of Elijah's lines and accidentally got casted as Elijah. Since he's not too big of a part and only really talks in the last part, he decided that it wouldn't be *too* bad.
So now Lance and Keith are stuck playing forbidden gay lovers in their school play. Hopefully they don't fall in love.. (The plot of the play mirrors the what happens in the au)
Some currently irrelevant details:
Coran is Allura's legal guardian and the art teacher so he volunteers help with the set and costume making
Keith still works on costume designs and stuff while playing Elijah
Keith was friends with Allura, Romelle, and Pidge before
There's a different spotlight on Lance and Allura when their gay lovers are on stage so they look more vibrant
There's a betting pool going around for when Lance is going to ask Keith to practice their kiss scene
Matt is also there but he's a senior and is working the lights (and teasing Keith)
Everyone but Pidge and Matt are sophomores
Pidge is a freshman but skipped a year so she's 13 and not 14
Keith is still working on Costumes while being in the play
Adam "begged" Keith to play Elijah (Keith didn't have a choice)
Also, there's a scene where Elijah says "Oh don't cry, my prince, for I cannot bear to see such a beautiful face full of sorrow." And when Keith first rehearsed that line with Lance, he very visibly malfunctioned. He had the biggest bi panic moment.

Really stupid au concept (have low expectations for how in character this is)
Ok so Keith is a fashion designer that works in a collective of alternative fashion designers to create their own indi Hot Topic (it's the principle).
Lance models for this small collective of fashion designers. He's wanted to be a model from a young age and got the job through a connection. (Keith considers Acxa to be like a sister and she's whipped for Veronica and that is the connection.)
Lance immediately hated the hot head fashion designer because he's bossy and annoying. Lance gets into arguments with him often and pisses Keith off. A lot. Keith, who is used to the models not complaining that the color of this shirt doesn't go with his eyes, is so incredibly tired of Lance's antics.
Keith comes up with his own little revenge. Every time Lance pisses him off, he designs a new garment that is "unflattering".
Although, Keith doesn't think that Lance could look bad in anything. That's his funky little secret.

Please take my very rough pokemon au designs and read my rant about the au underneath the cut.
Shiro's the current reigning champion, essentially Leon from Sword and Shield but cooler because he's Shiro. In this au, Keith's dad died around when he was 5. Keith won't give more information about his life with his dad or how he ended up where he is. Keith's dad lived in an isolated old house that was about two towns away from Shiro's house so it's a pretty big mystery as to how Keith ended up on Shiro's doorstep with a Growlithe.
Adam is currently the professor of the region (Professor Adam Wisteria). I don't have much info about him except for the fact that he lets Keith hang in the pokemon sanctuary and is openly engaged to Shiro. He and Shiro used to be rivals.
Lance and Keith were also rivals (duh). They're still kinda rivals but it's different. Mainly because they're gym leaders now.
Wait, let me go over everyone's roles. (I don't have specifics about what Pokemon are on teams. Also, all gym leaders get to specialize in 2 types. I don't care about the existing rules. The second type that isn't their gym type is secondary to the gym typing. )
Zarkon is the poison type gym leader/evil villain team leader and his team consists of poison, dragon, ghost, and dark types.
Shiro is the champion and has a majority ghost and dragon types.
Adam is the pokemon professor. Idk anything about his team.
Allura is the fairy type gym leader and specializes in fairy and psychic types.
Romelle is the ice type gym leader and specializes in ice and flying types.
Hunk is the groud type gym leader and specializes in ground and electric types.
Keith is the fire type gym leader and specializes in fire and dark types (the Growlithe, now Arcanine, he had when he was little is now on his team).
Lance is the wayer type gym leader and specializes in water and psychic types.
Pidge is a pokemon trainer with a (quite intimidating) Victreebel.
Matt, Acxa, and Krolia have some importance too but I don't know what it is. Maybe they're elite four?
When they were still trainers, Lance, Hunk, Keith, and Allura traveled together. They also brought Pidge along (kinda like Bonnie in XY). Lance and Allura's connections to psychic are different. Allura seems to have a natural psychic connection with pokemon whereas Lance just likes psychic pokemon. He used to think that maybe both of them liking psychic pokemon would give them common ground and they could go on a date or something but that hope was short lived.
Design details I want to point out:
Lance acts kinda like a camp counselor (? Canp counselor vibes?) to his gym trainers and challengers. He ends up getting handmade gifts from them and tries to use said gifts. All his bracelets were gifts from trainers/challengers. He remembers everyone who gave him something.
Continuing on with Lance, his shorts are actually swim trunks so he could go swimming on the job if he wants. You decide if he takes of his shoes, socks, and shirt beforehand or if he's a few bricks short of a house.
Moving on from Lance, Keith wears headphones to avoid being overstimulated during battle.
Also, Lance is moving more because they were supposed to be posing for a picture but Lance couldn't stand still. I really like drawing Lance standing/moving around in his space and being comfortable while Keith is more stiff and seems to be uncomfortable. It showcases the differences between them in social situations.
