Finishing Friday
The center section of the Afghan is nearly finished. My son is holding it up to show how long it is. I do have one side panel nearly as long. I still need to make yet another panel then sew up the three parts. For this mid section I’ve been using a size K ChiaoGoo Tunisian cable hook. I’ll be glad when this is done. I don’t like working on something this big.

I'm glad you liked it. It was a pretty big project, but super worth it. I find most of my patterns on etsy, and when I can, I get my supplies from smaller yarn shops, but for some things, I really just default to Michael's or Joann's. I never wanted to make a blanket before, because the idea of a project that big that's just the same thing over and over again held no interest for me, so finding a circular pattern with multiple pieces and steps helped.

Quick knitting update since it's been awhile. I wanna share something I'm pretty proud of so far!
A blanket! Specifically a lap afghan I've been working on this since around the 2nd week of November! This is a Christmas gift for a friend, and I've still got a ways to go, but I'm doing this all from one cake/skien of yarn to make my life easier. @_@ and to not have to worry about attaching new balls after finishing one. Plus, the colors keep going! :D
Tbf the pattern I'm referencing ( moss landing pattern by studio knit) called for bulky yarn with size 10 circular needles and I'm using super bulky with size 11, but it'll be alright. The yarn I'm using is from the current Caron Anniversary line, called Koi Pond. The 2nd pic is how much yarn I have left and I may not even use it all. (The cake itself was HUGE, a little over 2lbs of yarn!)
Oh that is gorgeous!! Such a nice pattern and a beautiful color mix on that yarn!

One has to wonder why the Muslims of the world aren’t piling into Disney+ to support such a stunning and brave endeavor. Oh yeah, it’s because it has nothing to do with their cultural or societal norms and values, and in many instances seeks to subvert them in a straightforward manner.
Something we rarely consider regarding intersectional prog notions of “inclusion and representation” is that they’re imperial. They will loudly and dramatically feign concern for indigenous cultures and religions while they work to destroy or undercut them. These media portrayals conceptually drive all people into a uniform blob that conforms to Western corporate/intersectional dogma and offers circular confirmation of it.
Two decades of “religion of peace” rhetoric from non-Muslim Western leadership is in this vein. Western leaders who attempt to call movements like the Taliban or ISIS “daesh” and cast them out of their own religion has been habitual practice since the turn of the century despite Islam being a sectarian war zone for over a thousand years. You have to admit it‘s pretty audacious for someone like George Bush to issue dictates on Islamic doctrine from his Texas ranch or a podium in DC. What if Islamic states don’t want “inclusion”? Globalists will “include” them by force.
This imperial tact was clear in corporate propaganda during the height of both the Afghan War and Syrian Civil War. Western media was full of stories about Kurdish female fighters and leftist sentiment, Syrian LGBTQ rebel brigades and breathless concern from politicians for the fate of “hard won women’s rights in Afghanistan”.
This isn’t to say that you, as a Western person, can’t appreciate women’s rights in the tradition of classical liberalism, but don’t pretend you aren’t a frothing at the mouth imperialist if you get butterflies in your stomach at the mention of any of these things in the context of militarism or external cultural imposition.
The truth is shows like Ms. Marvel aren’t for Islamic people either. It’s for the Message™️. It’s servicing and attempting to create acolytes of the ideology.
Progs call it racism when people reject a shallow media vehicle laden with ideological suggestion that lacks resonance because it is forced and un-relatable.

Their nest is lovely. Not like any Adam's seen before, but that only makes him like it more. It's like a veritable blackhole of blankets and, when he starts lifting them to check the floor, he finds a circular depression like the bottom of a sphere. He turns to Michael, to find him holding a cushion he's making change colours with a critical eye. 'Did you sink the ground?'
Michael hums. 'A trench structure seemed to be best for what you described.'
'Call that a hobbit trench.' Adam shakes his head and picks up a holey afghan, glancing around. This is the kind of thing he'd add as a canopy, but how? Michael finally settles on a muted teal and looks up at him.
'What do you need?'
'Chairs? I'm thinking of hanging this above...' he throws it in an ample gesture, hoping to illustrate his point, but it just hovers midair. Right.
'Like that?'
He goes to say it's exactly like that, but Michael seems more confused than anything, moving it up and down, letting the edges drape like there's an exact science to this. It makes him a bit weak on the knees as he walks up to the angel to press a kiss on his cheekbone. 'You're doing great.'
The ease with which Michael melts into him is still a surprise. As are his own reactions to the proximity. It's not that he doesn't want him close, or that he thinks he wouldn't without the heat, but he's never experienced something like this before. Now, as many times before, the kiss devolves into an impromptu scenting session, the archangel pressing his face along his shoulder, down his neck, breathing into his collarbone. He whines at that, carding a hand through his hair to guide his mouth to his own neck as he teeths along Michael's.
When they fall into the nest, once they've finished it despite the distractions, Adam gets what he said about trench mechanics. In a way, the part of his brain that isn't swimming in the pleasure of reaching out and having Michael all over him, touching him, holding him impossibly close, gasping into his mouth, entrancing him with his scent. He rolls so he's holding the angel down against a sea of covers, straddling him, foregoing more kisses for the chance to scent a bit more. Michael shivers, happy to permit this for a while before he's guiding him up for another kiss. His mouth is tender but so responsive, and Michael is a better kisser than he's got any right to be.
'Is that so?' Cursing himself, Adam realises he thought that too loud. He buries his face in Michael's chest before giving an ambiguous growl for an answer. Michael relents, strokes the nape of his neck soothingly. 'I'm glad, seeing as you've been kinder than I...'
'Kind?' He can't help but cut him off, sitting up on his lap. 'I'm not being kind, Michael, I'm being...' An omega, his brain supplies. In heat. 'I'm being human.'
'I just meant you've been rather gracious about the whole situation.'
Gracious. He shakes his head. 'Nothing I've done is selfless, if that's what you mean' He lays down, head in Michael's shoulder. 'We're scentbonded, after all.'
'Scentbonded.' The archangel repeats, like trying out the word. 'I'm scentbonded to you.'
'It just means...' he doesn't know what it means. He had a scent bond with his mother, but that was different. A familial thing. 'I think it means you smell like me. And I like you.'
'Is that also why I want you close all the time?'
The words make his heart skip a beat, but also beg the question. Does he want him close only because of their scentbond? They've become friends in the cage, their interactions intimate when compared to what they were like early on their captivity. Still, Adam doesn't want to stop kissing him when his heat is over. And Michael wants him close all the time. The thought pulls him from his doubts, and he presses their lips together because he still can, because Michael is a good kisser. 'It's probably that, or another weird heat mechanic they didn't tell us about in class.' He sighs. 'But I think I'd still want you close if I wasn't in heat.'
Michael hums, happily, and pulls him closer for more kisses. His lips until he's gasping for air, his cheeks; flushed with desire, the shell of his ear, down his jawline; nipping at his chin. Across his neck, he noses at his adam's apple, kisses his way down to his chest, and Adam figures, maybe he won't want to kiss Michael after his heat is over. The thought is jarring, but also quieting enough for him to stop thinking about the future.

Video records participation of Russian Tu-22M3 bombers in Ukraine

This week, a video appeared on social networks allegedly showing the launch of two Kh-22 missiles ('AS-4 Kitchen') from a Tu-22M3 bomber in Ukraine. The Kh-22 was developed in the 1960s, it is an old weapon, something like 1.5 generation of Soviet guided missiles.
Russia's failure to achieve air superiority in Ukraine has been described as one of the most significant mistakes that Moscow has made. The Russian Air Force was expected to play a vital role in the invasion, which could have allowed ground forces to enter deep into Ukraine and take Kiev.
It wasn't due to lack of experience or capacity. Russia has almost 4,000 fighter planes and has experience with bombing targets in Syria, Georgia and Chechnya.
Perhaps seeing the missed opportunity in recent weeks, Moscow has deployed its force of modernized Tu-22M3 bombers armed with Kh-22 missiles to hit the Ukrainian rail system. Such operations were initially conducted with cruise missiles, including the Kh-101 and Kh-555 and launched by Tupolev Tu-95 and Tu-160 bombers, but in recent weeks a change has apparently been made to the Tupolev Tu-22M3 (NATO reporting name "Backfire").
According to a report by The Aviation Geek Club, Russian ammunition is being depleted faster than can be replaced - and as a result, the Russians have deployed older stocks of the Kh-459 ("AS-13 Kingbolt") and other Cold War missiles.
The video that circulated online shows the launch of two heavy Soviet-era anti-ship Kh-22 ("AS-4 Kitchen") missiles from a Backfire bomber. The Kh-22 is remarkable, as it is probably much older than any of the pilots of the Tu-22M3 bombers - as it dates back to the 1960s. Designed to attack heavily protected ships or targets on land, it was far from being a precision missile. He had a circular error probably about three miles and, as a result, was typically equipped with a nuclear warhead.
The Kh-22 is powered by a Tumanski liquid fuel rocket engine, fueled with TG-02 (Tonka-250) and IRFNA (inhibited red steaming nitric acid), giving it a maximum speed of Mach 4.6 and a range of up to 600 km (320 nautical miles). The first ready-to-service missiles were introduced in 1962, but it took 60 years to see actual use in combat.
The hang gliding missile is powered by a liquid fuel rocket and is usually launched from a Tu-22M3 flying at a speed of Mach 1.5. The missile then accelerates to Mach 3 before approaching the target. In its terminal phase, the missile dives at a sharp angle and reaches a maximum speed greater than Mach 4. Each Tu-22M3 can carry up to three of these missiles in overload configuration, although one is more usual.
It has been suggested that the war in Ukraine is now just one way for Moscow to get rid of its old Cold War ammunition.
In mid-April, it was widely reported that Tu-22M3s had been used to bomb the Azovstal steel factory in Mariupol, a Ukrainian resistance site that still continues. It is not clear whether these "bombing" attacks involved cruise missiles, as well as the free-falling "dumb" bombs that the Tu-22M3 can also carry internally and externally.
The aircraft carrying the Kh-22 are also showing their age. The Tu-22M3 is a modernized version of the Cold War long-range bombers that entered service in the late 1950s and were designed to target land and sea targets with supersonic missiles and bombs. The bombers have an operational range of 7,000 km and are capable of carrying nuclear weapons.
The Tu-22M3 model, which was developed in the early 1980s, officially entered service in 1989. It was one of the few Soviet bombers to go into combat when it was used at the end of the Russo-Afghan War.
Russia currently maintains a force of more than 100 Tu-22M bombers in all configurations.
Earlier this month, a U.S. defense officer said that Russia had launched almost 2,125 missiles in Ukraine in 68 days of war, or just over 30 missile launches a day. However, it was not clear how many of them were thrown off the air.
With the most advanced cruise missile stocks apparently decreasing rapidly, it would not be a surprise if the use of the Tu-22M3 in the war in Ukraine really increased as the air campaign continued.
