Choso's death is still making me feel things, it was *beautifully* done. Choso's been throwing himself in harm's way this entire fight so it felt inevitable, and Sukuna's big fire attack couldn't kill *no one.* Honestly only taking out Choso was impressive. But Choso's death scene? Yuuji being compassionate and telling him he did enough and was enough? My heart. It mirroring how Suku saw off Jogo and Kashimo, both in style and in content (the only time Suku is at all kind) was v intriguing.
Yess. It was so beautiful.
I said after the chapter that it's my second-favorite death after Nanami's, but on further digestion, it's climbed to the number one spot. Chōsō has been a walking death flag to me since he said he can't die yet because Yuuji still needs him. That, on top of his overall behaviour lately, seemed to pretty much scream he'd die sacrificing himself for Yuuji, though you never know with JJK.
But the execution is what really sold it. Both the way Chōsō saved him—turning himself into a protective sphere of blood is one hell of concept and goes so well with his entire motif—and the aftermath conversation killed me dead.
Another thing I keep fixating on is that this is the first time someone's dying purely for Yuuji's sake. It seems like Yuuji was at the epicenter, and Chōsō rushed in to save him. Even otherwise, it's a clear trade of Chōsō's life for Yuuji's. It's not a death Yuuji's witnessing or failing to prevent; it's a conscious, wholehearted choice Chōsō makes—Yuuji's life over his own. And I love the way Yuuji's kind afterward, telling Chōsō what he needs to hear to let go without any guilt, even though Yuuji's reaction before and after that scene shows he's devastated. It's a beautiful, emotional goodbye that suits them both so well.
I really wish we could see its lasting effects on Yuuji, but well, that rarely happens with JJK. After Shibuya, we had more arcs where Nanami or Nobara could come up. But this seems like the final stretch, and who knows if Yuuji will even survive.
And that little panel, with a tiny Chōsō chasing after a tiny Yuuji, the dialogue preceding it—that's got me feeling shrimp emotions, won't lie. Keep thinking of it and sighing.
This is the kind of tragedy I love. I wouldn't mind a sad ending if it's well executed.
...Though after 260, I'm back to having no fucking clue what Gege's doing.
(I've been slightly pent-up about this, anon, if you couldn't tell. Opened your ask, started typing, didn't stop 🤣)

chapter 256, Yuuji blackflashing Sukuna (maybe in his stab wound?) has me thinking that Yuuji blackflash fisting Sukuna in the chest hole would fix him.
ANON, I LOVE YOUR BRAIN. Lemme buy you flowers. Or food.
Yes. That would fix Sukuna. Fist that chussy,* Yuuji.
* When I first came across this term in the TLT fandom, I ran the fuck away. Call this growth.

The last couple of chapters of jjk have been making me shriek with delight. My boy Yuuji let's gooo! I think my favorite thing (and you've mentioned this I think?) is the side-characters helping. Every time Sukuna starts to get some space to think and react, there's *someone* there to sneak in a couple of pot shots while Yuuji closes the gap. I think it's a wonderful contrast to the Suku v gojo fight, where those gaps basically allowed Suku to win. (this is black fisting the chussy anon)
Same, anon, same 🤝
I did mention it once! After 256, I believe, with regard to how Larue played a role in immobilizing Sukuna long enough for Yuuji to nail him with that first Black Flash (and I am still not over the fact that it was the first of EIGHT). I'm also very glad that pattern has both (a) continued into this fight with Ino's contribution and (b) lessened in terms of intrusiveness to better emphasize Yuuji vs. Sukuna. I don't know whether it's heading in the direction of a one vs. one or whether Maki (or even Yuuta) will join again, temporarily or otherwise, but regardless of how it progresses from here, we have this. Team play was a significant factor in injuring Sukuna to this extent and getting Yuuji in position to rail him with Black Flashes, and like you said, it does contrast with the Gojou fight damn well.
Sukuna's older, more experienced, and more well-versed in jujutsu than the rest of the cast—they need every advantage they can to beat him. I can understand Gojou vs. Sukuna starting off as a one on one, both because of Gojou being most effective alone and as a pissing contest pride thing, but the aftermath of the fight makes it clear that a coordinated attack would have yielded better results. Higuruma's domain alone could have given Gojou a better chance. Even putting aside practical strategy and focusing on themes, I find the way Gojou died fighting alone to be a disservice to his character arc. The fact that he did plan for the others to interfere if he was too weakened gives me some solace, but the end result was still...well, if I start on that, we'll be here forever.
With Yuuji and non-Gojou sorcerers in general, team play has been emphasized time and time again, and while Jump Kaisen did get pretty dull at parts (at least partly because of the weekly release tbf), it seems to be an effective strategy. For Yuuji's role in particular, I do like how it mirrors all his previous important fights, where his own power did matter immensely but the support, psychological and practical, he got was key in determining the outcome.
I can see it going either way from here, and the effectiveness of the end result will depend heavily on the execution (what's new, eh?), but let's keep our fingers crossed that the upcoming chapters will be as good as 256 and 257.
And say hello to your new name! Please don't run away.

Screaming crying laughing over the latest chapter omg TODO MY LOVE! I don't think that's Gojo at the end, if only because his gwumpy face does not look at all like a Gojo expression. <3 bf chussy anon (and I send the choso death anon earlier but ran out of space to sign it hahaha)
TŌDŌ, OUR LOVE
God, he was glorious. I'd missed him so much, especially after seeing the Shibuya arc animated. I wasn't expecting to see him again—hoping though—and it's been the most delightful surprise.
As for the last panel—
Tumblr media
That unambiguously looks like Gojou to me, especially combined with the comments about "the strongest" and "unmistakable eyes"; the latter is the editor's comment, but the former is narration. The expression actually reminds me of the bugfuck crazy Gojou was putting out when he confronted Tōji after awakening. If it turns out to be another person (or another body, to be precise), it'll be one hell of a bait and switch—and not in a good way.
But I'm not convinced it's a proper resurrection; Gojou's afterlife scene felt very final, plus JJK isn't lacking possibilities or precedent for body possession or straight-up hallucination. TCB's phrasing and even the leaker's words describe him as a spirit or ghost. I've seen some use "revenant" too. Even if it is Gojou Satoru in the flesh, I have fucking questions. I'm more wary than anything honestly. Whatever/whoever that specter is, the story could go so, so wrong from here.
Also, you should know I was planning on reblogging this ask and asking you how it feels to predict the glory of the BF chussy fisting. But since you're here, I'll ask:

bf chussy anon again! Sorry it took me a bit but yesss it felt so good to see Yuuji fist that chussy. I'm sorry that 261 made you so sad! I really liked the chapter but I know how it feels when you hate something and then someone tries to explain why they loved it so I won't say anything else. Anyway, peace and love and I continue to adore your fics. If nothing else, jjk is good for forcing people to process grief (236 came out shortly
oop accidentally submitted early (bf chussy again) 236 came out shortly after family member passed away and I was WRECKED for weeks about it! I'm pretty sure it wasn't even the writing making me feel that bad, just that it was easier to grieve fiction than real life stuff.
I can see why people would like it (or 236 for that matter), and I personally find the characterization to be consistent throughout. Just makes me, y'know, extremely sad and mad. Haven't given up on JJK yet though.
I agree that it's often easier to process things via fiction than confront real-life tragedy head-on. A lot of my most active periods in fandom were an escape from real life. I'm so sorry to hear about your family member, though I'm glad JJK gave you a good outlet back then.
Thank you, anon, and I hope both real life and JJK will be good to you from now on ❤️
