A Complete Guide To Manage Childcare Cleaning Effectively
Maintaining an organised and clean childcare environment is essential for the staff, kids and families' mental and physical well-being. Additionally, it offers them a hygienic and secure setting in which to do so. While safeguarding against obvious risks comes to mind when we think of safety and security, your programme is also in charge of shielding kids from invisible threats like germs and viruses. Here we will discuss how to manage childcare cleaning effectively.
Importance of Childcare Cleaning
A childcare cleaning is essential to provide a healthy and safe environment for the people coming in and out of your childcare. The immune system of children is still developing and is more vulnerable to bacteria and germs. Childcare cleaning in Adelaide helps to eliminate germs and can help to protect the children in your program. If you want to keep your childcare open and operating successfully then provide a healthy and safe environment.
Tumblr media
Sanitise and Disinfect Childcare
Children who attend childcare centres may be more likely to get sick due to not performing a deep cleaning of the childcare centres. Cleaning is a broad term which is related to removing, reducing or destroying germs. Childcare centre cleaning in Adelaide is the first step before sanitizing or disinfecting surfaces as it can remove harmful germs like viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi.
Be Careful With Commercial Disinfectants
All cleaning chemicals are safe for cleaning childcare facilities. You must use ‘green products’ that are safe for childcare cleaning in Adelaide. These products usually have no phosphates, chlorine or artificial fragrances or colours. Selecting the right cleaning products is vital but it’s also important that you monitor your use and exposure to these products.
Cleaning childcare is very critical to the well-being of the children you serve. You can clean up the messes of the children to ensure they continue to play and explore safely. You must take the necessary steps to keep your centre clean and provide children, families and staff with an optimal learning environment.

Bucket List in Brisbane
While there are so many things to do in Brisbane, we have provided you with the top activities that must be included in your bucket list. This will ensure that even with a limited time, you can explore the most from the city. First in the list is the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Your Brisbane holiday will never be complete without seeing the world famous koalas in their natural habitat. You should also try the Story Bridge climb for a different kind of adventure. Lastly, although not unique to Brisbane, the Sea World is another destination that you should not fail to visit.
Man's body found in car in Brisbane, 300km from his Urangan home
Queensland detectives are trying to piece together the mysterious case of a man who was found dead in a car, 300km from his home town, on Friday night. Joshua Thorne, 30, was pronounced dead shortly after the white Holden Commodore was discovered outside a childcare centre at Holland Park on Brisbane's southside. Read more here.
Authorities rely on autopsy for suspicious deaths of people. Since there is no evidence or any other information about how this young man died, police officers are left to wait for the results of the autopsy procedure. Although it may take several days before official results come out, this will provide clarity as to the cause of death of the person. Meanwhile, witnesses are encouraged to speak up and help in the investigation. Urangan is a very small community and for sure, residents will know if there are strangers coming in their area. We do hope that in the coming days, someone will have the courage to provide clarity to the whole incident.

Story Bridge in Brisbane, Queensland
One of the best ways to experience Brisbane is by climbing the Story Bridge. This is a heritage listed steel cantilever bridge built in the 1940’s. The adventure climb gives the visitors a different kind of adrenaline rush. The Story Bridge is one of the only three bridge climbs in the world. The management offers different types of climbs depending on your adventure appetite. Since safety is the topmost priority, you will be required to wear safety equipment. The initial steps can be a little scary but as you see the beautiful skyline, you become more comfortable with the activity. As many visitors say, the worthwhile activity should be included in every person’s bucket list.
Some company owners think that hiring the services of software development and consulting services is expensive. They are scared that the customized design and program is a huge investment that some of them will only go for ready-made software. But while custom software can be initially expensive, the long term effect will tell you that it could be the best decision for your company. MRU can help you generate more income, increase productivity for your employees, and create a brand image for your business. If you do not care for these factors, you can go and buy the cheap ready-made software and save a few dollars.

12 August 2021
Australian Interior Design Awards 2021 Winners
Design Institute of Australia releases groundbreaking Designers Australia 2021 Awards
Outstanding shifts in design by Bates Smart, DesignByThem, Monash University XYX Lab, and Edward Linacre.
The Design Institute of Australia (DIA) — Australia’s peak national design body, released the inaugural recipients for its Designers Australia 2021 Awards. The final winners out of a shortlist of seventy-four across the country, reflect the designer’s ability to make a strong contribution to a better world and include three national winners, a President’s Award and thirty-one awards of Merit. The awards, a first for the industry, identify Australia’s preeminent designers and studios, calling attention to the individual/s and their distinguished design processes as much as the outcome.
Bates Smart for Gandel Wing, Cabrini:
Bates Smart for Gandel Wing, Cabrini was awarded the ‘PLACE’ category winner, while DesignByThem for DL Range by Gibson Karlo and Dion Lee received the winning ‘USE’ award. Monash University Department of Design XYX Lab for HyperSext City won ‘INTERACT’, and product designer, artist and mentor Edward Linacre received the President’s Award.
DIA’s Designers Australia 2021 Awards are the culmination of months of evaluation, development and revisions. They are different in their categories and criteria to most of the design awards currently offered in Australia. The three groundbreaking cross-disciplinary design categories would have previously been categorised by traditional design disciplines such as industrial, interior, graphic, digital, product, environmental, textile, fashion, and many more.
DIA President Gavin Campbell FDIA said: “Since 1948, the Design Institute of Australia has been committed to nurturing and empowering designers. It is pleasing to see the culmination of these awards, responses in design shifts while also creating a platform for our collective future. The winning recipients and awards of Merit have all in their way embraced ethical, diverse and sustainable processes through collaborative and professional practice. Their projects are a testament to their values and entrepreneurship, and it’s our responsibility to identify and support them as design leaders and to demonstrate the value of design to the broader community.”
Bates Smart for Gandel Wing, Cabrini:
Shining a light with a new focus on Australian designers and their award winning responses to current community challenges.
Awards jurors, and internationally renowned Dutch trend forecasters and design educators Lidewij Edelkoort & Philip Fimmano also commented: “The Cabrini Malvern Hospital extension by Mark Healy the studio director of Bates Smart truly encapsulates our times; from the importance the medical sector plays in our lives to designing social spaces with wellbeing in mind. The new Gandel Wing’s natural finishes, rounded edges and neutral palette illustrate the power of buildings that can heal us. Considered lighting and attention to detail therefore become critical to care. The comforting interiors have been so thoughtfully reimagined that we thought it was a sustainable hotel concept — now that’s somewhere one should check-in! It’s time that hospital and hospitality go hand in hand.”
Tuba Kocaturk, awards juror, and professor of integral design said: “The DL Range by DesignByThem presents a timeless process of experimentation with form and materials which brings together functional and purposeful production techniques from fashion and industrial design, translated into an innovative marriage of comfort and inspirational design.
“The Monash University’s design, the HyperSext City, presents a series of interaction platforms where the design transcends being merely a product, but rather becomes a research and a communication platform, which informs, raise awareness and continually involves its users/audience in the evolution of the displayed content. Both projects are a testament to the changing role and position of design, moving from the traditional concept of a tangible product through to orchestration of new interactions and experiences.“
PLACE winner — Bates Smart for Gandel Wing, Cabrini identified for their exemplary approach to design by focusing on wellness and human-centred healthcare. Gandel Wing was praised as a place in partnership with nature and technology, encouraging healing rather than simply treating disease. The architects were honoured for responding to the hospital’s evolving needs by comforting the lives of many.
USE winner — DesignByThem for DL Range by Gibson Karlo collaborates between founders and industrial designers Sarah Gibson and Nicholas Karlovasitis and Australian fashion designer Dion Lee. The key objective of this project was to promote cross-disciplinary design by creating a unique body of work merging fashion and industrial design principles.
INTERACT winner — Monash University Department of Design for HyperSext City use design as an intersecting mediator, educational and collaborative tool giving voice to community members. The University’s XYX Lab was commended for its investigative exhibition encouraging and empowering people to comprehend and imagine complex issues together.
President’s Award — Multidisciplinary designer, artist, student mentor and former DIA Graduate of the Year recipient Edward Linacre applauded for his contribution to the profession, and commitment to diversity and equality across cultures, gender and race. He is a partner at Copper Design, which resides within Mycelium Studios, a co-working hub and place where designers coexist and learn from each other.
Industry leading jurors include Alessandra Baldereschil, Susanna Bilardo, Lisa Cahill, Gavin Campbell, Lidewij Edelkoort, Philip Fimmano, Marcus Fairs, John Gertsakis, Dr Rafael Gomez, Peta Heffernan, Fenella Kernebone, Tuba Kocaturk, Dr Scott Mayson, Nicole Monks, Lorenzo Palmeri, and Quan Payne.

Costco Reports 1st Quarter 38% Earnings Increase And A Strong Outlook
New Post has been published on https://perfectirishgifts.com/costco-reports-1st-quarter-38-earnings-increase-and-a-strong-outlook/
Costco Reports 1st Quarter 38% Earnings Increase And A Strong Outlook
ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA – NOVEMBER 19: A Police vehicle is seen at Costco on November 19, 2020 in … [] Adelaide, Australia. Lockdown Restrictions Take Effect In South Australia As Authorities Work To Contain COVID-19 Cluster Outbreak South Australian premier Steven Marshall has announced new lockdown restrictions across the state for the next six days in response to growing new COVID-19 cases in the community. The new restrictions came into effect at 12:01 on Thursday, with all South Australians required to stay home for the next six days and only able to leave home for essential purposes. People cannot leave their homes to exercise and only one person per household can visit a supermarket per day. All schools are closed except for children of essential workers and vulnerable children while childcare will be open only to essential workers. Aged care and residential disability care is in lockdown. Takeaway food outlets, restaurants, bars, cafes, pubs and other food venues are closed and non-essential business and industry will shut down while weddings and funerals will be banned for six days. The use of face masks or face coverings outside the home are encouraged but not mandatory. (Photo by Roy VanDerVegt/Getty Images)
Costco just reported first quarter earnings for the 12 weeks ending November 22, 2020. Total company sales increased 15.4%, with the U.S. reporting 14.6%, Canada 16.2%, and other international markets reporting 18.7%. Net income was $1,166 Million compared to $844 Million last year. Fully diluted earnings per share were $2.62 versus last year’s $1.90 per share. That is a 38% increase!
The company indicated that the quarter included a tax benefit of $145 Million, or $0.33 per diluted share; $0.16 of which was due to the deductibility of a $10 per share special cash dividend received by the company’s 401(K) plan participants, and $0.17 cents related to stock-based compensation. Last year, the first quarter similarly included a $77 Million, or $0.17 per diluted share, tax benefit related to stock-based compensation. Management noted that this year’s results also reflect an expense for COVID-19 premium wages of $232 Million pre-tax ($0.35 per share).
In a lively conference call, management discussed many successes. It is my impression that the company bought less inventory of Christmas decorations, wrapping papers, and gifts and may be sold out of some of the items earlier than last year. On the other hand, very much aware that gifts for the home would be in demand this year, buyers had added some merchandise in those categories. Overall, merchandise inventory increased 21.7% as the company prepared for the holiday selling season.
There were particularly strong sales results across diverse product categories. On one hand, fresh fruit continued to be a highlight and sold well during the quarter. That strong sell-through meant there was less spoilage this year and that was a major benefit.
Electronics, appliances, and furniture also were strong performers and show that inventory investments in such home categories were smart moves. In addition, management pointed out that the company benefitted from higher productivity and that manufacturers sponsored fewer promotions – combined, this made the environment more favorable for a profitable quarter.
The quarter ended just before Thanksgiving, but management noted that there had been substantial holiday shopping before the traditional Thanksgiving starting point.
I was pleased to hear that the membership renewal rate stayed at a high 90.9%. Such high levels demonstrate continued trust in the company by the shoppers, and that is a very powerful competitive edge.
Costco currently operates 803 warehouses worldwide, including 558 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 102 in Canada, 39 in Mexico, 29 in the United Kingdom, 27 in Japan, 16 in Korea, 14 in Taiwan, 12 in Australia, three in Spain and one each in Iceland, France, and China. Costco operated e-commerce sites in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Korea, Taiwan, and Australia. Total e-commerce business increased a strong 86.4% over last year.
The uncertainty about the intensity of COVID-19, and the possibility that some units may have to close, is overshadowing the near-term outlook. At the same time, management indicated that its pharmacies will participate in phase 2 of the vaccination program. That should bring more customers to the warehouses and create more shopping opportunities. While it is unclear how customers will act in the near future, I believe Costco will benefit from customr loyalty and trust and continue to see strong results.

Sydney twins Courtney Dober and Jarrad Dober miss out on $3 million in Boston MassChallenge but it’s not over yet for CleverDux
After competing in a Boston startup competition for $3 million in funding and a spot in a major accelerator program, a pair of Sydney twin founders have returned home to conquer the Australian market.
Courtney Dober, a television presenter and former contestant on The Bachelorette, has spent the past four years growing CleverDux with his twin brother and co-founder Jarrad Dober. The startup’s latest product is the See and Save system to help stop preventable deaths and hospitalisation of children with asthma, allergies, anaphylaxis and epilepsy.
CleverDux’s coloured wristband system allows staff at schools and childcare centres to easily spot these conditions in children.
In line with this, the brothers are planning to create an app and online dashboard that will keep teachers and carers updated on important triggers like weather conditions and pollen rates, and alert them to which children to pay attention to.
“We used to work in child care and after school care,” Jarrad Dober, a full-time schoolteacher, tells StartupSmart.
“We were seeing a larger rise in kids with asthma and anaphylaxis.”
After the Dobers appeared in a local paper, a mother of a child with asthma who had asked them to implement the See and Save system at her primary school recommended they check out MassChallenge.
“I filled in a form thinking not too much about it and got an email [saying] we’ve been accepted,” says Dober.
Getting into MassChallenge
“It took me two-and-a-half days to fill out but in answering the questions for the application it brought up a lot of issues [about] the company that we [needed] to address,” says Dober.
The MassChallenge Australia competition, sponsored by various partners including the Government of Industry, Innovation and Science, Microsoft Australia and Jobs for New South Wales, saw 45 startups across Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide go through a bootcamp of intense training, lectures, mentoring and pitching commencing in November 2016.
After a number of pitches, 10 finalists, including CleverDux, were invited to pitch at MassChallenge’s Boston headquarters in the final round, which ran from March 6-10.
“At the end of the program, they chose five companies that were rated the top after their pitches at the end of the week,” says Dober.
“We weren’t one of their companies but we all have the chance now to move to the next phase.
“Everyone there is changing some aspect of the world.”
Australian finalists like CleverDux can now submit a new online application by March 28 and will have another opportunity to pitch for a spot in MassChallenge’s four-month Boston accelerator.
The Dobers plan to put in an entry but their key focus is cementing a footprint in the Australian market.
“We will go to the market with a very simplified product to see who picks it up and if there is [demand] we will push the go button on the application and dashboard,” says Dober.
“Me and Court [both] have to live at home with mum and dad because we can’t afford to move out and have this company [but] lots of people are saying this is an issue that needs to be sorted out.
“We know this product isn’t just an Australian issue, the same issue is found in New Zealand, the US, UK and in Canada.”
The tragedy that inspired CleverDux’s new product
While CleverDux began by selling identifier bracelets to help parents remind children of where they need to be after school, the death of eight-year old Marcus Terranova in 2015 inspired the brothers to take a new direction, says Dober.
Terranova died after suffering from an anaphylactic reaction and getting treatment for asthma instead of an epipen.
“We read that story and thought, ‘God, we’re having this issue here’,” says Dober.
“These things shouldn’t be happening. Almost every single hospitalisation and death due to asthma and anaphylaxis is preventable.
“[We can stop these] as long as we get quick identification and medication to those children in time.”
Pivoting the product and scaling back resources for the original wristband system has seen CleverDux’s sales drop from between $60,000 to 80,000 in the last financial year to about $15,000 to 20,000 this year, says Dober, but it’s well worth it.
“Our whole company has been built on the memory of Marcus and we don’t want any other parents to deal with such deaths,” he says.

Australian Interior Design Awards 2021 Shortlist
Design Institute of Australia releases groundbreaking Designers Australia 2021 Awards
Today, the Design Institute of Australia (DIA)—Australia’s peak national body spearheading the design industry released the shortlist for its inaugural Designers Australia 2021 Awards. An impressive shortlist of 74 entries was announced across the three cross-disciplinary categories—Place, Use, and Interact. The unique awards, a first for the industry, identify Australia’s best designers and studios emphasising the individual/s and their design processes as much as the outcome.
Outstanding shortlisted designers and design teams identified include Bates Smart, Cox Architecture, Danielle Brustman, Edward Linacre, Glenn Murcutt on behalf of Naomi Milgrom Foundation, Hames Sharley, Ian Wong, Jen Lowe, Melissa Marsden, Nick Karlovatsis and Sarah Gibson, Phillips/Pilkington Architects, Pierce Widera, and Tom Skeehan.
DIA President Gavin Campbell FDIA said:
“Valuing the designer’s influence over process and purchasing is integral to quality design outcomes that shape a better world. The distinct attribution of our designers is fundamental to the Design Institute of Australia’s policy work. Underpinned by our core values and purpose, we are thrilled to identify these progressive designers and their impact towards authenticity, diversity, equality, inclusivity, community, and the environment.”
Awards juror and multi-disciplinary artist Nicole Monks also commented:
“The Designers Australia 2021 Awards focus on process, wellbeing, ethics, and advocacy; this shift is groundbreaking, and the projects highlighted are exemplary examples of this within the Australian design landscape. I’m interested in the change-makers, those who aim to leave a legacy in design by creating pathways for the next generations to learn and grow and encouraged by those designers who consider broader social and environmental issues and the impact of good design. These awards show how designers can create connection and share the story of how ‘now’ matters in creating a better future.”
The awards identify the best design thinking and processes applied across projects that would have previously been categorised by traditional design disciplines such as industrial, interior, graphic, digital, product, environmental, textile, fashion, and many more.
According to the DIA code of conduct, which demonstrates a commitment to best practice, continual improvement, and excellence of the design industry, a jury of local and international industry leaders judged the entries. They included Alessandra Baldereschil, Susanna Bilardo, Lisa Cahill, Gavin Campbell, Lidewij Edelkoort & Philip Fimmano, Marcus Fairs, John Gertsakis, Dr. Rafael Gomez, Peta Heffernan, Fenella Kernebone, Tuba Kocaturk, Dr. Scott Mayson, Nicole Monks, Lorenzo Palmeri, and Quan Payne.
All shortlisted designers are identified below, each with a link to a dedicated page on the Designers Australia 2021 Awards website, where you can find an image and more information about each studio and its projects.
