Reminiscent Reverence
You firmly pinched your brow as you stood in front of the mirror. The shower was already running and the steam worked its way into your lungs.
Your head was a mess. You had considered being in the presence of the Hacker wouldn’t impact you at all. The problem was he just is Mikado Sannoji, the man who had crafted the alter ego from the ground up with only one other person to help. The likeness of them both was uncanny but in all honesty the two weren’t so different from each other.
Sure the AI had sent a few jabs in the hacker’s direction upon the two of you plucking him out of his cozy little hide away.
Yes he had shown some very noticeable jealousy towards the hacker himself, but it was obvious as to why.
Up until a few days ago? He had been able to touch and hold you within the confines of the Neo World Program. For these few days he was quickly coming to terms with the fact that the closest he could be to you now was when your phone was kept close on your person or while you slept.
How long would it take the AI to lose his patience? Given the circumstances, he was doing decently for the moment. Though you couldn’t imagine that it would get any easier for him.
As per usual, you brought any possible problem within your reach onto your own shoulders. With being as exhausted as you are? That wasn’t the wisest choice.
Shaking your head, looking yourself over one last time, you remove your glasses before climbing into the shower.
You couldn’t remember the last time stress ate away at you this readily, let alone weighing on you so incredibly that you lose yourself in the suffocating humidity of the hot water.

“And…that’s all?” The hacker was leaning his chin in his hand as he had finished listening to the Alter Ego rattle on about the events of the Neo World Program.
“It’s as much as you’d want to know.” The AI’s voice carried from the speakers in a flat, exasperated tone. “I sincerely doubt you’d want to hear about the intimacy I experienced with them.”
The AI’s eyes darted in the direction of the bathroom, the sound of running water still faintly carrying through from the other side of the room.
The Hacker furrowed his brow, “And why wouldn’t I?”
The AI scoffed, “You’re just curious about popping the cherry, hm?~”
The other adjusted his glasses, glancing away briefly before shaking his head firmly. “If anything, I’m more curious about the fact you were taught the complexity of other emotions by them. More specifically the most complex emotion humans experience in the first place.”
He adjusted the cuff of his sleeve, fidgeting with the button as he rattled on. “You must understand the groundbreaking value that has in regards to the foundation of the concept revolving around adaptive Artificial Intelligence, don’t you? The bridging of the gap between humans and robotics!”
The AI rolled his eyes, groaning. “Of course I do-“
The door knob turned as you exited the bathroom. Striding over to the bed you threw yourself down onto it with a pained whine. Sore-
The AI strained to see you, giving the hacker a look before he drummed his nails against the screen. “Take me over to them-“
“We were in the middle of something-“ The Hacker protested, only for the AI to have none of it.
“That’s not important right now, they need me.” The AI glared up at the other until he was lifted and brought over to them.
“Well- we talked about most of what we needed to, but I don’t think I’ll get much farther with him tonight.” The hacker had gingerly handed the phone to you and you took it, letting it rest on your chest.
You clearly didn’t have much energy left for today. “Mh. Listen- you should sleep, or at least try to.”
Sannoji conceded with a huff, “I suppose so. Though frankly it’s difficult to sleep in an unfamiliar environment, let alone on a sleeper sofa.”
The implication was lost on you, “Mh…? Where else would you sleep then. I doubt the chair would be any better-“
You pause, noticing his stare over the rim of his glasses.
You sigh, before turning on your side. “I guess that’s fi-“
The AI interjected, “What do you mean- Listen, tech support. Why should they have to share a bed with you when the sleeper sofa is right over there!?”
Sannoji sat on the edge of the bed which did nothing but goad the Alter Ego even further. He set his glasses on the nightstand before laying back. “You know it takes a while to set up sleeper sofas. Do you really want to keep them awake when they’re this tired?”
The phone grew hot, as the AI glared at the hacker from his present angle. “That is a convenient excuse-“
You quickly flick the mute button before he could continue and rasp. “Enough, Solar Flare. He can stay on top of the covers while I’m under them. Does that work?”
He glances aside, definitely not happy with this outcome but for the sake of avoiding an argument with you he only nodded.
With that, you unmuted him and kept him close to your chest again. Your voice was hoarse from how blatantly exhausted you were, “Hum something for me-“
The visage on the screen changed to him laying back on a matching set of sheets, the tune he carried with his hum was subtle but familiar to you.
It brought you back to after the end of the fourth trial. You experienced a disorienting panic episode that lasted the rest of that following evening. He was the only one to have seen it, being there for it.
You pushed the discussion from that time far from your thoughts. It would do no good to remember the dead, more especially one you had called friend and who had broken you so severely with his remaining words.
When you had drifted off, he had continued to hum for a while. This had gradually brought the hacker under as well.
Discussions and planning would continue tomorrow, but for now? You would sleep like the dead.

Rpg Anon: Still haven't finished the Remnants or the next thing I said I would do but I just had another idea. Mod, what do you think we should name certain characters' ultimate weapons? For example, what would Leon's best baseball and bat be called, or Mahiru's camera, or Peko's sword, or whatever weapon category Makoto's and Hajime's are classified as, etc. To save time, let's not discuss what their weapons would be.

A sanctuary near Shibuya Station, where buildings from the Edo period still remain.
This is the shrine where Kasuga Bureki, a Buddhist monk and warlord from the late Heian period (794-1185), prayed for success before appealing directly to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first Shogun of the Edo period, for Iemitsu's success.
If you have a strong wish, God will grant it.
There is also a legend of the Konno cherry tree that Minamoto no Yoritomo sent from Kamakura in memory of Konno Maru.
The shrine grounds and Konno Maru Mikado were even featured in the Edo period's "Edo Meisho Zue" (Edo Period Famous Places).
It is amazing that such a historic shrine remains so close to Shibuya Station.
