full reference for my fallout new vegas companion oc, oviedo! realized I never made him a ref, so I wanted to make his extra special <3

extra info below!

COMPANION QUEST: MOON RIVER

working with the NCR quest line (intended, not required), courier 6 will be introduced to oviedo, a sniper stationed at the colorado cliffside across from caesar's legion. partnering up together, 6 infiltrates the legion incognito for vital intel with oviedo's cover. the intel, as you and oviedo will learn, correlates to a planned attack on an NCR camp. presenting the intel together and saving an NCR camp in doing so, oviedo will give you his companionship. now you can travel together!

ALT (NON-NCR): MOON RIVER

it is possible to befriend oviedo without working up a reputation with the NCR, or even having a negative rep with the republic. to do this, find him in NCR territory by the colorado and pass 3 speech checks. first is 50, second is 75, and last is 100. last speech check may be bypassed with either confirmed bachelor or black widow perk (bisexual confirmed? yes.) afterwards, oviedo will still require you to do the legion-spy mission. after that, you heard it here first folks - bestie time.

COMPANION PERK: EYES OF THE HAWK

while traveling with oviedo, you have increased VATS chances of 50% using a scoped weapon, or increased VATS chances of 30% using a non-scoped weapon. holy smokes!

TRIVIA!

oviedo has a long-lost daughter, cassandra. she will be around 23 years at the time of you meeting oviedo. she is still alive, don't worry. oviedo doesn't know that, though... so with that being said, if courier 6 is named cassandra, oviedo will mention it, though... in a bittersweet way. this is the only name you can give the courier that oviedo acknowledges.

if you place cigarettes in oviedo's inventory, he will make a bad remark on them and scold you. he will not smoke them.

yes you can take his hat. yes you can wear it. hey bucko, you heard of the cowboy hat rule?

oviedo will not tolerate you if you side with the legion.
