He wanted to refrain from shaking her, from throwing his anger at her for her behavior. She seemed wrapped up in the way that she wants to live - away from the family as though she were never apart of it. Her words were a slap to his face, a mar on an already fragile situation. He clenched his jaw and shook his head in denial to her words. She was a Mayfair! And just because she didn't wish for it that didn't mean she could get away from the family that easily. Would Lasher even allowed that?

"Mother has told me a million times to ignore you. That you aren't the witch that is needed. But you, my little sister, am I meant to just let you go and let you live away from us?" From me? She represented innocence, she was a relic and yet he couldn't force her, could he? He understood wanting away from Lasher, God knows that he has his own machinations regarding the fiend, but everything else?

He felt like this was going far better than what he had several times before with other upstanding ladies. They had always been from around here and had looked down on his antics as though he were a scourge to society. He had more money than anyone in the city, maybe across the entire country, but that didn't mean that they enjoyed him very much. This one seemed different. She seemed to not know very much about his reputation or she simply didn't care. Either way, he was glad that things had been going well enough. "There's nothing wrong with being spoiled. Everyone should be, right?" He offered with a small smile even as they continued walking. "It might be rather cocky of me to say it but I think that all of my days are pretty successful." He finished with an easy shrug of his shoulders. "Prayer? Is that what you do often? My family goes to the nearby church, we're rather…religious." Were they? In their own way but they did have quite the attendance record through the decades ever since they had moved to First Street. "This arrangement between us…do you intend to always keep it that way?"
