Fate and Phantasms #285: Kiara Sessyoin (Mooncancer)
Tumblr media
Today on Fate and Phantasms, we're staring down the barrel of Summertime once again! I hope you all have fun on your test of courage tomorrow, but if you're looking to take the test of wallet (that is, rolling for Kiara Sessyoin (Mooncancer)), we might just be able to help out. After all, what could be a better summoning catalyst than being Kiara?
In D&D, we mean. Can't help you become Kiara IRL, that's more of a meditation situation.
So yeah, we’re making Kiara again. She’s a Marid Genie Warlock this time around to eat some seafood for ridiculous levels of power and a Creation Bard to make anything we want out of sea foam and steal a little something-something from Hokusai’s build.
Check out her build breakdown below the cut, or her character sheet over here!
Next up: PowerWash Simulator 2022
Race and Background
Despite her best efforts, Kiara’s still a variant Human, giving her +1 in Constitution and Charisma, proficiency in Acrobatics, and the Tough feat for an extra 2 HP every level. Mermaid flesh is supposed to give you immortality, but we’re not even level 1 yet, hold your seahorses.
Summer Kiara is partially a child this time around, so instead of a sage she’s still an Acolyte, giving you proficiency in Insight and Religion.
Ability Scores
As we learned with Arjuna Alter, eating your magic is still a Charisma skill, so that’s why it’s so high. Kiara’s still not one for armor though, so if you want to live your Dexterity’d better be almost as strong. It’s hard to compete with Jinako for HP, but Kiara does her best, so her Constituiton is also above average. We’re not relying on Wisdom for much this time around, but she’s still pretty religious at heart so it’s middling. This means her Intelligence is lower than I’d like, though she spends most of this event as a child so it’s understandable. Finally, dump Strength. That wouldn’t be high even if she wasn’t a child.
Class Levels
1. Bard 1: I wish we could start as a warlock, but to be honest we get more out of bard from the beginning anyway. Proficiency in Dexterity and Charisma saves as well as three skills of your choice like Arcana, Deception, and Persuasion for some skills from your time as a demonic boddhisatva.
You can hand out Bardic Inspiration as a bonus action, giving one d6 at a time to give an ally a boost with a check, save, or attack roll in the next minute, up to Charisma Modifier times per day.
You can also cast Spells using your Charisma, so pick up Mage Hand to keep a few of your spooky lil hand things around, and Vicious Mockery to break people’s minds with your voice. You can also eat away at their defenses with Bane. If they fail a charisma save, up to three creatures have to subtract a d4 from all their attacks and saves for up to a minute. For some bigger mockery, Dissonant Whispers does practically the same thing, though it also makes the target run away if they fail their wisdom save. On the defensive side, pick up Mage Armor to Not Die so fast and Healing Word to heal yourself as a bonus action.
2. Warlock 1: Now that we have that sorted, bouncing over to warlock doesn’t unlock any new proficiencies, but we do get a Genie’s Vessel since we’re making a pact with a Marid! Technically the fathomless warlock might be a better choice for a giant clam, but then we wouldn’t get a Genie’s Vessel we can hide in! It’s a spellcasting focus, and you can make it look like a clamshell if you so desire. While holding it, you can use it as a Bottled Respite as an action, hiding away in it for up to twice your proficiency bonus hours at a time, once per day. It will also power your Genie’s Wrath, adding your proficiency in Cold damage once a turn to any attack roll you hit.
You can also cast Pact Magic using your Charisma. This works similarly to your bard spells, though these recharge on short rests, and they all stay at one level at a time. On the plus side, you can use bard slots for warlock spells and vice-versa as long as they’re the right level for it.
You can use Eldritch Blast for some waterworks, and Charm Person for Kiara’s standard mind control. If you want to whip up a little foam though, use Fog Cloud to cover the area and Minor Illusion to start making, well, illusions in it. They’re not spicy enough to melt people’s brains yet, but it’s a start!
3. Warlock 2: Second level warlocks get Eldritch Invocations, ways to customize BB’s class to make your summer a little more enjoyable. Spell slots are at a premium rn, so grab Armor of Shadows so you can cast Mage Armor for free, then pick up Agonizing Blast to add your charisma modifier to your eldritch blast damage. It doesn’t specify a damage type either, so mix this with the cold damage from genie’s wrath for an extra watery blast!
You can also cast Protection from Evil and Good. Still Kiara under that costume, y’know.
4. Warlock 3: At third level you make the Pact of the Tome with… yourself… and get a whole three cantrips! Pick up Cone of Cold and Ray of Frost for some more chilling spells, and Thaumaturgy to still be a woman of god. Or a god of a woman, depends on your mood.
Also, Blur is another way to protect yourself, giving enemies disadvantage to hit you through the foam.
5. Warlock 4: Fourth level warlocks get their first Ability Score Improvement, so bump up that Charisma for stronger spells, particularly eldritch blasts. Speaking of, at total level 5 all your cantrips get upgraded, so you can use two blasts per blast now!
You can also use Prestidigitation to make quite a few minor magical effects, basically little touches we’ve forgotten in other spells, and you can use Mirror Image for another defensive illusion, creating three copies of yourself that hang out in your spot, taking hits for you. If someone attacks you, you first roll a d20. If you have all three copies, they aim at one of them instead of you if you roll a 6 or higher. With two copies an 8 or higher, and with one copy an 11 or higher. Whenever a copy takes damage for you, they vanish.
6. Warlock 5: Fifth level warlocks get third level spell slots and spells like Spirit Shroud, helping you pour even more cold damage onto all your attacks if they hit a creature within 10’ of you. It’ll also prevent their healing, and slow them down while they’re in the area.
No Kiara build would be complete without that mermaid cosplay, so for this level’s invocation pick up the Gift of the Depths for a permanent swimming speed and you can cast Water Breathing once per day for free so you can drag up to nine other creatures down to the depths with you.
7. Warlock 6: Speaking of the depths, hanging out in the Marianas Trench sucks! But it sucks less with your Elemental Gift, which gives you resistance to cold damage, and as a bonus action you can fly for 10 minutes with hovering. You can do this Proficiency times per day! Some of Kiara’s skill animations have her sitting on air, so this is a great low-resource way to haughtily float in the air above the mortals.
For a little Logos Eater, pick up Intellect Fortress to eat up magical attacks, giving you resistance to psychic damage and advantage on intelligence, wisdom, and charisma saves!
8. Bard 2: At second level, a bard is a Jack of All Trades, adding half their proficiency bonus to checks they aren’t proficient with. You can also use a Song of Rest to heal the party a bit more over a short rest, and your Magical Inspiration means your bardic inspiration can be added to one instance of the healing or damage of spells!
Speaking of, this level’s spell lets you cast Silvery Barbs whenever an enemy does… just about anything, forcing them to re-roll the check, save, or attack roll. If they fail the second go-around, you can give one creature advantage on their next check, save, or attack. It’s good. It’s a good spell.
9. Warlock 7: Have you ever wanted your problems to just… float away on the sea foam? Now they can! Just one casting of Banishment over a minute application can send a pesky extraplanar enemy back to where it came from! This also works for humans and the like, but they’ll come back at the end of the spell, sadly. We’ll get a lil something for them later.
You can also let out a Dreadful Word, a.k.a. Confusion, once per long rest using a warlock spell slot, using your illusory foam to befuddle your enemies and trick them into doing stupid things. Mostly they’ll just wait around stupefied though.
10. Warlock 8: At eighth level we’re finally getting a little more physical, using this ASI to become a Fighting Initiate for the Unarmed Fighting style. Now your fists do a d6 of damage with one hand, or a d8 with two hands, and you deal some damage each turn you have a creature, ahem, “grappled”. I mean using your bare hands isn’t a great idea, but it’s an option for FGO Kiara, so it’s an option for D&D Kiara.
Also, you wouldn’t be much of a mermaid if you couldn’t Control Water, letting you spend an action each turn to mess around with water in the area. You can raise the water, part it, redirect the flow, or even make a Whirlpool. It’s not exactly a combat spell, but it’s a neat trick.
11. Warlock 9: Ninth level warlocks get fifth level spells like Dream. We’re getting closer to mind-bending, though this one only works while your target is asleep. We also get yet another defensive boost with the Gift of the Protectors. Now creatures can write their name in your tome, and once a day when a creature would drop to 0 HP but not die they stay at one HP instead. That’s once a day for the entire tome, btw, not once per creature. Maybe don’t tell the party about this one.
Also, eldritch blast makes three beams now- that’s nice.
12. Warlock 10: At tenth level your clamshell turns into a Sanctuary Vessel, letting you store up to five other creatures to bring into your vessel with you. Any creatures within can also take a short rest over the course of ten minutes, greatly speeding up the time to recharge your spell slots, and giving you extra healing as well. Now the whole party has access to evasion!
Also you get another cantrip- Friends, I guess? Advantage on charisma checks is in character, but it’s not like you’re going to need it after the next level.
13. Bard 3: At third level your illusions become a lot more tangible once you use a Performance of Creation, letting you create a nonmagical item near you as an action once per day, or by spending a second level spell slot. The item must be medium or smaller, and it can only cost up to 60 GP, so a giant Kiara is out of the picture. You could take a page out of Kama’s book though and serve up some wine and dining…
Also, your inspiration delivers Notes of Potential, giving your allies an extra boost depending on how they use your dice. If they add it to a check, they can roll the die twice and use the better option. If they use it on an attack roll, it deals thunder damage to nearby creatures. If they use it on a save they’ll gain temporary HP.
You also gain Expertise, doubling your proficiency in Deception and Religion so you can deceive people into thinking you’re religious… but also you really are religious.
Since we got Mage Armor for free from an invocation, swap out the bard version with Enthrall to distract your enemies before throwing them into another dimension.
Also, I know the giant Kiara isn’t literal, but.. pick up Enlarge/Reduce anyway, why not? Being big is fun.
14. Warlock 11: Eleventh level warlock, sixth level spells. Specifically, you can use a Mystic Arcanum to cast a sixth level spell once per day. All your spell slots are still fifth level. Tasha’s Otherworldly Guise makes you look a little more otherworldly, making you either more Devilish or more Boddhisatva-ish, respectively. If you pick the lower planes you’re immune to fire and poison, if you pick the upper planes you’re immune to radiant and necrotic damage, as well as being charmed. Regardless you can fly, get a boost to your AC, and your weapon attacks are magical and use your charisma- also, you can attack twice per action, so punching is kind of okay now. Grappling’s still bad though, don’t grapple.
15. Warlock 12: Use this ASI to max out your Charisma, but also use this invocation to make a Lance of Lethargy. Nobody can escape Sessyoin, and while we can’t make the entire universe into your hand we can just slow people by a lot. Now you can reduce a creature’s speed by 10 once per turn using your eldritch blast, so combining that with your Spirit Shroud can seriously eat into people’s ability to run away from you.
16. Warlock 13: At thirteenth level your seventh level mystic arcanum is Plane Shift, letting you finally whisk away all those pesky little material-plane-based enemies to wherever your heart desires. The elemental plane of water is always a good thematic choice, but really anywhere is up for grabs.
You can also use it to travel around with your party if you really want, I guess.
17. Warlock 14: At fourteenth level you get a Limited Wish as an action once per 1d4 days. As an action you can cast any action-cast spell of sixth level or lower without a spell slot or components.
While this does give us access to a ton of cool spells, frustratingly it doesn’t let us cast anything that would help with our most elusive of goals- immortality. Eating mermaids is supposed to give use eternal youth, but all the standard options are just out of reach. Clone is eighth level, and Magic Jar takes an action to cast. Still, you can cast a lot of cool stuff with this, don’t sleep on it.
(Yes I know we can just use Wish since we’re a genie warlock, but I’m saving that slot for something weird.)
18. Warlock 15: For your eighth level arcanum, pick up Glibness so that not even magic can tell when you’re messing with people. For an hour after casting all your charisma checks have a 15 on the die, and magic always says you’re being truthful.
Also, we can finally use the clam shell compact to swap into our police form with Master of Myriad Forms, the invocation that lets us cast Alter Self at will for free.
19. Warlock 16: For our last ASI, bump up your Constitution for an extra 19 HP. Short and simple.
20. Warlock 17: Our final level, and our final spell! Use that Mystic Arcanum and beg your patron for… Weird. Told you.
Every creature in a 30’ radius must make a wisdom save or they’re frightened for up to a minute with concentration- then at the end of each turn after that they must make another wisdom save to end the effect, or they take psychic damage. This spell would be almost perfect for Kiara, if only it had the charmed condition instead. Still, if you need to get people so swept up in a dream that they die, you can’t go wrong here.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
Right off the bat, having 200 HP makes you a chunky spellcaster, and that’s before we get into how hard it is to hurt you. You’ve got defensive spells, fog clouds, you can hide away in a clam shell, and hitting 0 HP once isn’t enough to keep you down. It’s hard to put a good beast down.
Also, mixing in some bard levels makes your social skills ridiculously good even before we get Glibness, and you have plenty of utility spells to have fun outside of direct combat.
You’re also really mobile for a caster, with plenty of swimming and flying available to take you across just about any terrain you come across. Also while we’re on the subject, while you’re water themed, you’re not completely tied to the concept like Gilles was. You have like, one invocation and one spell that actually needs water.
Cons:
You don’t have many spell slots, so you’ll have to make every casting count. On a similar note, a lot of your spells use Concentration. While you’re good with that save, it still limits what you can do at one time.
We also never pick up the fifth level of bard, so your Inspiration is more of an afterthought, even with those cool extra features added by creation bard.
I know immortality is a high bar to hit, but dammit I’m mad we didn’t get it in this build. Also weird is a bad spell to spend a 9th level slot on, just grab wish instead and it solves both problems. Seriously the fucking thing uses concentration and even then, a creature gets two saves before it does any damage. There are first level spells I could upcast that would be better than this, the fuck. If it wasn’t fantastically in-character I’d never have brought it up.

What command codes do you recommend for Arjuna?
bear in mind im not an expert at all and 100% put command codes on bc they’re pretty or whatever but
Regular arjuna:
Tumblr media
uhhhh I’ve got that jinako cc to help with c star gain, that one that only works on arts to also try and help with c star gain, the tiny little heal bc that could help? the blossom one is pretty+removes attack buff on enemy, and gil chain increase damage against enemies. I have no idea if this is a good setup or not. Now I want to change it again o_o
Alter:
Tumblr media
so I mixed his up recently against Zeus and might switch it up again- noticeably he’s got two anti divine ccs in his busters but I’ll probably switch the Ishtar one out at least for one that applies burn, the other buster card has the one that applies poison. The quick card has the quetzmas cc that gives 4 crit stars which as a berserker…any crit stars are appreciated. Rn his arts is the Merlin one that gives like 10% np once every 3 turns, I may switch it out for another one
There’s a lot more guides on ccs for junao in general tho so it was easier lol

My FGO Servant ideas/Servants I'd expect
These are some Servant ideas that I have had since I've already asked what you guys want.
I know that the Servant has to be someone that people know for the most part, since almost every Servant is someone that everyone knows with a few exceptions.
Some spoilers for other Fate works bellow
Saber
Yagyu Jubei, the One-Eyed Samurai. I feel like his NP will be some kind of Mystic Eye under his eyepatch or something. But if they want to go super Bullshut, I could imagine him being a Pseudo-Servant of Yvette L Lehrman.
Archer
Tchaikovsky, composer of 1812 Overture. The Orchestral song featuring CANNONS! I have already made a Reddit post about it here. I am trying not to just shove people in Caster
Angelica Ainsworth, holder of the Gilgamesh Class Card in Prisma Illya. I wonder how Archer/Caster Gil would react to her, or even Enkidu. I mean we know Kid Gil isn't fond of her.
Lancer
Arachne, the Spider-Woman Weaver. Her Lance would simply be an enlarged sewing needle. She'd either be a sort of Spider- Centaur, or the Spider-Legs would be coming out of her legs. For some extra shit, she might be merged with the Japanese Spider-Yokai Jorogumo, or just reference it similar to how Galatea referenced the tsukumogami. Also, her being a woman made into a monster by Athena, Medusa might gain a new friend.
Sigma,>! Maiya Hisau's son from Fate/Strange Fake. Apparently the True Lancer of the True and False Holy Grail War!<. I really just want him in to see how he'd interact with the EMIYA family. ~~Someone give Shirou/EMIYA some guy friends!~~ Of course, we'll need to wait a long time for strange fate to finish to get him since the author doesn't like using f/sf characters for anything else atm.
Loki, god of mischief. Maybe being half-Jotunn can be a good enough justification to keep him as himself and not need to be a Pseudo. I like OSP's interpretation of a "genderfluid benevolent but mischievous Hearth Spirit who protects the home and family". Genderfluid would open up for one of Fate's many genderbends they love doing, but if they kept him male and make his character about all the kids he has, then imagine...Loki, who is a god of mischief and a dad.........Loki making dad jokes. Although I feel like they might go with the female Loki one since Fate loves Genderbends and IDk if Japan has an equivalent to dad jokes. The reason he'd be a Lancer is the spear of Mistletoe he gave to Höðr which then resulted in Baldr's death which is treated as the precursor to Ragnarok.
Rider
Jiraiya, the Gallant Ninja. It was either this, with him riding his summonable Toad (I mostly think of this video), Assassin b/c Ninja, Caster b/c of reasons covered in the video linked before and some similar videos by the same guy, and Saber with the Nakirimaru, or "wave cutting sword," used to exorcise the Snake Spirit from Orochimaru. I went with Rider so the Rock-Paper-Scissors match of Frog-Slug-Snake matches the classes of Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru respectively.
Caster
Tsunade, the Slug Maiden. The reason is mentioned above in Jiraiya's segment.
TOHSAKA, Rin as a Counter Guardian. The closest we'll get to actual Rin on her own with no other god(dess) inhabiting her body as a servant. NP would be the Jeweled Sword Zelretch. Also, imagine Ishtar seeing the older Rin (her vessel)'s more developed body and getting pissed.
Orpheus, the musical son of Apollo. Considering one big part of his story was being so bummed about his wife dying that his music just depressed everyone, even the gods, with his bad vibes, I could imagine them making him into sort of an emo guitar player or some shit. But if that is too lame then giving his Lyre some Siren Song-esque powers might be something since during his adventures with the Argonauts, since when the sirens began to sing he "played music that was louder and more beautiful, drowning out the Sirens' bewitching songs."
Assassin
Not too sure on the spirit, hopefully a Death God, but I want a Pseudo-Servant of Kairi Sisigou. I mean a Necromancer Mercenary, TELL ME that doesn't fit. Also the possible fun interactions he can have with Mordred again, and her family and new friends.
I mentioned above, Orochimaru, with him being a Pseudo-Servant in Souichirou Kuzuki. I just needed a snake-themed servant to put him in because I know everyone wants him as a pesudo so Medea can have her husband.
Berserker
Kriemhild, wife of Siegfried. Either this or Avenger. Berserker would be the most fitting for my idea, but Avenger would also fit and most likely have cooler animations I bet. As the wiki says about her personality: "Kriemhild held a "deep‐rooted and blind love" for Siegfried, such that it's described as "passionate love that repays the murder of one’s loved one with twice the payback." Siegfried's death, rather than assuage the feud with Brunhild, caused Kriemhild to "burn with the flames of revenge."' NP being a more demonic/dark version of Balmung. I wanted her to be a sort of obsessive wife and mother to Siegfried and Sieg (I like to imagine them having a mentor-student to father-son dynamic), the family dynamics between the three would be fun to imagine.
Lycaon, the wolf king. He once tested Zeus' omniscience by serving him the roasted flesh of Lycaon's own son Nyctimus, in order to see whether Zeus was truly all-knowing. In return for these gruesome deeds, Zeus transformed Lycaon into a wolf. He'd be a pseudo for Svin Glascheit. I just needed a wolf spirit to put Svin in. I mean everyone already is imagining Berserker-Jack the Ripper using Flat as a vessel.
Magni, son of Thor. Do I even need to explain who I am using as a vessel for this Spirit?
Avenger
Pandora, the all-endowed first woman. At first, I was unsure about her class. Yes, the whole thing of Pandora's Box was made as a punishment for Prometheus stealing fire (I wonder how Fate would interpret this with the whole Age of Gods vs Age of Man thing), but as the wiki says "She was given knowledge by the gods that she had to wait until humanity perished so that she can finally open the box and release the world's true potential. Because of her immortality, Pandora suffered greatly as people unreasonably tried to kill the undying mud doll whenever they discovered she wasn't human. After so many years of suffering, Pandora began questioning on why she had to go through this for humans."
Captain Ahab, Captain of the Pequod. >!Implied to be one of Watcher's Shadows in fate/strange fake, so the reason he'd be unavailable is stated above!<. His NP would be his prosthetic leg made out of whalebone, which may give him some aquatic abilities. Or it might be the harpoon that he got tangled in which resulted in his death.
MoonCancer
Tsukuyomi, the Shinto Moon God. Using Hakuno Kishinami as a vessel. I mean combining the Admin authority from the EXTELLA's Regalia which grants him kingship of the Moon Cell with Tsukuyomi's moon god authority would be pretty cool. I know a lot of people want a Dioscuri situation where we get both male and female Hakunos but I feel like it'd be one or the other. Of course, this is only if Hakuno NEEDS a god in him. I partially Headcanon that the reason BB made Jinako a MoonCancer was as a test run for when she does it to Hakuno.
Alter Ego
Ergo, The Man Who Devoured God. From The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi. " Because of the method of creation he has several gods within him after devouring their flesh. All three gods within him, one of which is Sun Wukong, have the shared themes of "water gods" and "hands"." Having 3 gods fits man other Alter Egos haveing 3 gods in them (Sakura Five, Ashiya Douman, and Sitonai).
>!U-Olga Marie, the Alien God. The Best chance we get of having Olga back. Similar reason for being summoned as Kiara.!<
Lemme know what you guys think of my ideas and if you'd add anything to them.

A Dip in the Time Pond Pt 10 (Proto Gil, Hakuno)
Previously: One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine
___
Dear gods.
Hakuno lay in a messy heap. Her eyes opened slowly, regarding the slow sunrise coming in from the windows nearby. The beautiful collections of deep navy hues to brilliant golds was astounding. The birds singing outside the window sounded like some kind of symphony of its own, joined and accompanied by the cool sounds of the breeze that wafted in and tickled at her naked body.
To move was to notice the marks. Dozens littered her skin, since the king had taken his time last night.
He’d taken so much time.
There’d been no memory of sexual deviancy. Every move he’d made had been one made with a slight tremble. She’d found her legs split apart far too wide, pulled up against him as he’d leaned over her. He’d not realized the distances from hands to face and from her face to his as he sat just between her legs. When he’d leaned over her, he’d unintendedly rubbed against her clit, bringing a slight noise to her lips that he’d taken as a positive sign.
Unfortunately, they’d been stuck.
He tried to mimic the action and ended up kneeing her.
She’d tried to grip him and he’d cursed.
Try as they had and try as they might, it had turned into the most awkward situation she’d ever been in, and that included every awkward moment that Shinji and Jinako had ever put her through.
“I can’t,” Hakuno told him finally.
“Show me how you touch yourself.”
She’d stared in horror at the very idea.
“Woman- no. Wife of mine,” the king purred, leaning over her once more. “I want to see how you pleasure yourself. I’m going to touch every inch of you and find out where the secrets of yours lie. Either you can show me where and how you pleasure yourself or we can simply continue this until I learn these places and manners myself.”
The places were easier than the how.
She wasn’t like some other people that she’d met in her life. She didn’t have a strong sex drive that said where and how to do this kind of thing. However, she was already over this.
“Here,” she showed him, reaching down between their bodies.
The man had asked her questions until she’d been ready to doze, and then he’d become the opposite of what he’d been all night. Uncertainty and debate turned into a confidence and a drive the likes of which she’d never seen.
Gilgamesh had begun to move his mouth against her, holding her hips as she found herself screaming towards the canopy.
When he shoved in, it was only because she had taken one look and known enough to know where it needed to be.
And now she was covered in markings and gods knew what else, her body sore and her mind reeling.
“Hakuno,” the king murmured as she shifted. “Hakuno come here. I need your body holding mine. Do not leave your king’s side.”
That was great and all, but…
Rin?
Hakuno closed her eyes, reaching out amongst the universe and all its splendor to reach the other mage.
Rin? Are you there? Please tell me you’re there.
Silence met her pleas.
“Hakuno,” Gilgamesh growled moving to sit up. His hands tugged her back to his side, his lips meeting hers. “I’m in the mood again. Let’s repeat our evening’s better half.”
“I-I was thinking about making sure you eat.”
“Hmm?” Those red eyes looked upon her a moment. His lips lifted slightly. “Caring for me to such a length? What wife material you are.”
His lips found hers again, kissing her soundly.
“I will yell for the servants to bring us food. I’ll use your body to enjoy the full decadence of our morning meal together. Then I will take you again.”
“Don’t you have things to do?”
“I do. One sits before me, covered in my love for her and possessing lips which ache for my own. I am known as a giving and benevolent king. I won’t leave you aching for long.”
“C-Could we do something else this morning? I want to talk to you.”
She wasn’t ready for round two.
Her body was barely surviving the aftermath pains and aches of round one. She was ready to eat a whole buffet and lounge in bed for the day.
“I happen to enjoy our talking,” Gilgamesh purred, leaning in close and kissing her again. “Let me tell the guards to bring our meal and we’ll see what words my mouth can make your mouth say.”
She was killing Rin when she met back up with her.
Feigning being desired by a god had been a shitty idea.

always found it odd that jinako’s name is romanised as ‘jinako carigiri’ in translations.
in romaji hard ‘c’ sounds are pretty much exclusively represented by ‘k’. i know jinako’s only half-japanese (one of her parents was german, iirc) but. ‘k/carigiri’ is clearly a japanese name so...

Prisma Illya arrives on the scene as a Summer servant, and shocks everyone by not being clear pedophile fanservice. All of her ascensions are actually cute and fine. This quota will be made up for later, unfuckingfortunately, but for now, let's look at see what our cute Archer daughter has in store for us today. Starting with her fundamentals, they're actually rather nice. She boasts a pretty solid ATK stat along with okay HP, it's a little on the low side but not too bad. Unfortunately, the dreaded Archer ATK modifier is in play, but she'll still end up hitting hard with fous. Her NP generation is pretty weighted towards her Arts cards, since they're a little above average, while her Quick and Extra are rather mediocre. NP Generation isn't a big problem for Illya overall though. Her AQA chain will generate about 35% of her NP gauge, but she also has multiple skills which help in this regard, which can pump it up to 46%. Her star generation is decent, since her best chains will generate about 19-20 crit stars, which is about all Illya needs to go full power.
Her first skill, High Pressure!, is a standard Quick steroid with a couple of additional effects attached to it. The Quick buff is actually quite low at 20% max, so this skill is best used in order to leverage some pretty hefty Quick crits, thanks to the increased star absorb and massive one turn crit damage buff. Getting the crit stars to align without having already used Illya's Quick cards can be a bit of a problem, but she'll hit very hard with this skill active. On a 5 turn cooldown, it will come up fairly often, but is definitely more for burst damage rather than sustained DPS.
Her second skill, Summer Vacation! (Children), is likely her best skill by far. It's one hit of Invincibility, an NP generation buff for 3 turns, and a Charisma buff for Children Servants. What's considered a...child or not is a bit strange, but it doesn't lower the efficacy of this skill. Illya will most likely be using this skill whenever it pops up for the latter two effects, since its hard to time the Invincibility buff for survivability purposes without oppurtunity cost. The NP generation buff gives a solid boost to her NP gain, putting it at a pretty nice level for her kit and making her more consistent in belting out her NP than before. Finally, Illya also benefits from her Charisma, giving her two steroids in her kit for her NP.
Regal Shower!...outside of being a rather unfortunately named skill, is also pretty good. A 30% NP charge on a 5 turn cooldown is always welcome, but this skill also comes packed with a 50% critical damage buff. For a combined total of 150% crit damage, Illya will end up hitting a lot harder than one might expect, especially with the right supports. The HP regen is weak, and honestly is probably just the excuse given to pair her with Chloe, but that means using Chloe and this buff is so minor its really not worth using Chloe's skill to boost its success rate.
Illya's NP...is honestly rather underpowered. It's great if you can stack overcharge and get those buffs to rather sizable numbers, but its questionable whether the Buster buff matters at all. If you can get her an Overcharge buff though, her NAA chain with her second skill and crits will allow her to loop her NP, which is rather notable. Generally though, you'll be using this in a NQQ chain, since it has the most overall benefits and is the easiest to get big power crits with. Without crits, Illya will generate, on average, 37% NP and 50 crit stars, and with crits, that will turn into 52% NP gauge, so getting crits is highly recommended. It's damage is also only okay against Sabers: against any class where she doesn't have SE, it'll do on average about 18k damage, which is rather weak. This is actually a pretty serious problems for Illya. For her good NP gain, her NP isn't the powerhouse it needs to be in order to do sustained damage. This primarily limits her NP as an enabler for her big crit turns, since it helps her to generate a ton of stars.
Of course, the million dollar question on everyone's mind when we have a Quick AoE Noble Phantasm is: Can Illya loop in DSS? The answer is yes, although she's less consistent than Atalanta is. She'll need Fragment of 2004 to boost her NP generation on NP 1, and needs 6 hits of overkill to get to 50% NP on Saber classes, which is about 70k HP. She can use her NP charge turn 2 to guarantee the 3rd NP regardless of overkill, which is nice. It also requires a Superscope, since you can't use the Mage Association MC to charge her NP gauge.
Support Options: Skadi, being the penultimate Quick support, is the obvious one, especially given her great synergy with Illya's first skill, granting extra Quick card crit damage, as well as enabling Illya to loop. Other Quick supports like Osakabehime and Scathach can also be useful, as well as any good crit star generator such as Himiko or Jinako. Special attention should be given to a couple of Child Servants too. While Illya's buff is not especially strong, Beni-Enma, Alexander, Hans Christian Anderson, Miyu Edelfelt, Wu Zetian, and Paul Bunyan are all pretty notable examples of Servants who not only benefit from the attack buff, but also provide back to Illya as well. She can also boost DPS Servants like Chloe, Elice, Illya Caster, Jack, Wu Zetian, Kama, and Sitonai, but she's not great in this role, since the only thing she brings is a Charisma buff.
In startling return, Summer BB is also rather notable for helping to guarantee multiple turns of access to Illya's Quick cards, allowing her to use them for star generation and for dealing big crit damage.
Command Codes: Illya likes having extra damage on her Quicks, especially extra crit damage. Star-Eradication Wicked Holy Sword, Inexistant Phantasmal Horse, Chibi Nobu (CC), and Majin-san are all great options for this reason. Mini Cu-chan and The Reason of Creation are also options if you want added utility. Her Arts and Buster cards can be extra sources of NP and crit stars to help with consistency.
Craft Essences: Outside of the obvious Superscope for looping, a normal K-Scope is also a decent option for instantly NPing if you need it. CEs that give starting NP charge and additional effects are always good options, like Knight of Marines or Holy Night Dinner. Demonic Bodhisvatta is a bit of a gimmicky option, but it does allow you to potentially loop NPs under the right situations, so it can be considered. Golden Carp can be used to help to guarantee big damage windows thanks to the 20 crit stars it gives.
Pros: -Very high crit damage for a turn, allowing for high burst potential -Second skill gives Illya quite good NP generation -30% NP charge on a 5 turn cooldown -NP generates enough refund with effort to loop with DSS
Cons: -Survival option is weak and has strong conflicts with the rest of her skill, meaning she'll often be out of a survival option in a fight -Buff to Children Servants is rather minor, limiting which Servants she can be deployed with -NP is quite underpowered, with very minor effects and low damage -Sustained damage as a result is rather low, putting most of her viability in looping and burst crit damage
Overall, Illya is a bit of a mixed bag. She had pretty good skills that give her a good amount of consistency, but her low damage NP doesn't help with sustained DPS. She's good with looping and farming, which is her primary niche, and pretty solid with Crit DPS as well, and its enough to make her good and usable. You won't find another Archer with the same set of characteristics, and Illya's defining bits are also rather good.
