Kes...doesn't have it in them to disagree, is the thing. It sure as kriff feels that way. Has done for a long time. In the twilight, they sit with one arm propped up on their knee, opposite leg and wings sprawled.

hc kestrel + tattoos

kes has several tattoos of varying quality. the most obvious if you catch them without their helmet is the abstract on their right ear. they also have a few stick and pokes on their fingers done by various siblings.

the biggest is the lightning bolt going up and down their entire left flank. this is almost always hidden under armor or blacks.

not @arc-77 getting me thinking about kes and chronic pain....especially combined with the fast aging....sure they're trained (possibly manufactured) to be used to carrying weight but the wings change kestrel's posture, change the development of muscle groups, not to mention all the harsh landings fucking up their joints...

Kestrel crosses her arms, but does her best to keep her posture relaxed. They imagine it's not the same. Won't claim it. But it's true--they know how it hurts, even if the scale is different. Electric shocks and burning, so bad they've caught themselves twisting, trying to contort enough to dig their fingers into muscles that aren't there.

(If her wings twitch at the memory, well. It helps to remember that for now, they're intact.)

They might try it anyway. But it's important to set expectations.

The muscles in her back twitch and tremble as they try to compensate for the change in her center of gravity. As they seek sensations she's no longer receiving, the interface turned off before he'd started disconnecting it.
