#Marvel#Marvel comics#Marvel 616#Venom#Venom vol. 2#Venom 2011#Scarlet Spider#Kaine#Kaine Parker#Agent Venom#Flash Thompson#I want them to be friends so bad#but where they might agree on the fact that eeeeh sometimes you gotta get your hands dirty and maybe bend the rules a little#they are so diametrically opposed in all other aspects#Flash got into the Agent Venom program in the first place because he’s a good team player and functions well within a hierarchical system#(including receiving orders from further up the chain of command)#while I’m pretty sure Kaine would try to chew off his own arm to avoid participating in anything as hierarchical#and driven by esprit de corps as the United States military#(for better or worse) Kaine does not enjoy being under the influence of anyone else and it’s all he can do#to not actively smother what flickers of idealism try to spark up in that cynical wasteland he calls a soul#meanwhile Flash (for better or worse and from what I understand) still remains comparatively idealistic#considering that both characters are of the “wrestles with monsters” archetype they both make for compelling reading imo#Oh! and there’s also Flash’s open adulation of Spider-Man while Kaine’s feelings on Peter and his legacy are much more complicated#to say the least hahaha
