Not thanking @sfseiz for tagging me, like what were you thinking? I’m tagging no one, I prefer to sacrify myself to put an end to this cursed cycle. Also I don’t have mutuals...

Rules: Answer the 11 questions you were asked, write 11 questions and tag 11 people. (idk if i can think of 11 Qs again sorry!)
Qs from Koukenkage:
1. What did you want to become as a grown up when you were a child? The main two professions I was obsessed with as a kid were ballerina and veterinarian
2. Is there a big dream that you had to give up to achieve your goals? Do you regret it? I guess I’m sort of still slowly sacrificing one dream for a more realistic goal, in that I chose to pursue studying literature instead of writing fiction for my master’s program. It’s not that I don’t love literary analysis, or that this choice makes it impossible for me to find time to write stories on the side, but I do sometimes regret not following my heart more closely and instead playing it safer career-wise. I’m literally in the process of writing my thesis and taking my graduate exam next term and yet I still sometimes wonder if it’s not too late to switch over to the creative writing program lol
3. Is there a book/a movie that you’ve loved but couldn’t read or watch again? Black Swan, Grave of the Fireflies, and The Flowers of War are a couple films I really like but don’t feel the need to watch more than once haha. I also really enjoyed reading the Harry Potter series when I was younger but I doubt I’ll ever want to re-read the books tbh
4. If you could be someone else for 24 hours, who would that be? I know this is really “middle school” of me, but I am genuinely curious what it would be like to live as a cis-gendered man for a day. I don’t have a specific person in mind tbh xD
5. You can get your dream job in exchange for ten years of your life, do you accept? I probably would lol
6. A meteorite is to destroy the earth in 24h, what do you do for dinner tonight? The rest of my leftover mac & cheese in the fridge so I can leave this world without unfinished business weighing on me
7. You can revive one human being, no matter how long ago they died, who do you choose? Someone of your family? Siddhārtha Gautama? Homer? Shakespeare? Jesus christ? Be wild (or not). I feel like the wisest thing to do would be to let the dead rest and not meddle in such a way xD however, if I had to choose someone, I’d want to bring back Gloria Anzaldúa. Her poetry and essays have inspired so many, and she had wanted to write so much more before her untimely death, so I wish she had more time on earth to see her ambitions made into reality ;o;
8. You can make one thing disappear from existence, what do you choose? (It has to be something concrete, not a concept, like the flue is okay, but not the concept of disease.) myself lol actually you know what, PLEASE make the rats disappear from my workplace, I hate being in that building you can literally hear their tiny rat feet scuttling within the walls
9. You wake up in the body of Quasimodo, what is your first thought? My back feels more messed up than usual
10. You are going on an adventure of unknown nature, but you are allowed to choose a fictional character to accompany you, who are you going to choose and why? Shisui!! I’m so predictable, I know xD But who wouldn’t want a travel companion as wise and strong and brave as him? (Itachi is so lucky to go on missions with him~)
11. You fall deeply in love with someone, then realize that this person has done something horrible that goes against all your principles, and you know that you’ll think of it every time you see them. What do you do? I just wouldn’t love them anymore I guess. I’ve been in the position before where I was head-over-heels for someone who I realized was not a good person, nor did they treat me well. It would take some time for me to fully move on, but I’d wean myself from those feelings eventually. We can’t control who we become infatuated with, but I don’t want to love someone deeply if I can’t admire them and be proud of who they are
Qs from Malignedaffairs:
1. If you won a million dollar tomorrow, what would you do? Fund the rest of my education so I can get my doctorate eventually, and move into a nice apartment near the city ;v;
2. What made you fall in love with your first love? His eyes were beautiful, and he was a musician. Looking back on that period of my life is kinda embarrassing though, I definitely was not wise about the people I had crushes on
3. What are your favourite scents? the interiors of coffee shops and bakeries, lemon, cinnamon, burning brush
4. The most extraordinary food you ever tried? How did you like it? I’ve had some really spectacular sushi at this Japanese restaurant near my campus, but probs my favorite I’ve ever had there is this coconut shrimp & mango roll :O
5. Which person of your family do you feel closest to and why? My younger brother and I have always been really close, due to not being far apart in age, but also because of how we endured a lot of abuse together throughout our childhood. We’re also both pretty introverted, and so have mostly just had each other for friends haha
6. Which person of your family do you feel the least close to and why? My dad’s entire side of the family tbh. I don’t even really view them as my relatives anymore
7. What creative activity do you enjoy? Lately my main creative outlet has been writing poetry
8. Is there any feature/phenomenon/characteristic of another culture you would like to permanently have access to/incorporate in your own culture or home country? I believe I read somewhere once that teachers/educators in Sweden are greatly valued and paid well, since it’s widely understood in Swedish culture that teachers’ contributions in nurturing the minds of their youths are invaluable in society. I reeeally wish we could adopt that view in American culture, it’s honestly embarrassing how ineffective public education is becoming here and how little teachers here get paid
9. How did your best moment of today look like? I got to come home from work and finally get some rest
10. How do you usually reward yourself? with sweets!
11. What’s your eye colour and how do you like it? I really like my brown eyes :P

“19th century swedish poster to learn kids to spell in school I am...”
Additionally, dividing into syllables is likely not meant to help teach WRITING so much as to teach READING. My gut notion is that you've probably got an example here from later than my own time period, but in the anglophone world in the earlier nineteenth century, writing was considered a much more advanced skill than reading. Rural or impoverished students often attended school enough to learn to read, but not to write. While dividing the syllables may make no perceptible aid in learning to spell, the practice was used (again, in the English-speaking world) to teach reading for two different reasons: 1) for very early readers, having the syllables separated out visually might help them parse the sound mentally, esp. in English where our spelling conventions make no sense; 2) pedagogy of the time often involved group recitation/reading followed by a drill of questions from the teacher; if the teacher either wrote out or had handy a large chart with the syllables divided in this way, he/she could point to each syllable as the class pronounced it, or point to a particular syllable mentioned in a question or answer after the recitation.
:D
i got excited replying to this one and wrote up the longest reply, with so many sources, because i started to look up the history of education in sweden. then my computer crashed and ate my very long answer, which was a very tragic event.
but anyway, you talking about reading skills contra writing skills made me think of how we know that almost everyone, no matter their economic background, class etc could read in historical sweden.
in an attempt to reconstruct the reply, i was going to point at that in sweden reading skills was actually surprisingly high historically, much higher than many assume. we know this because sweden had a law between the 16th - 18th century were a priest of the swedish lutheran church would arrive, no matter which religion the person belonged to, to have these obligatoric questioning with every household in a area given to the priest. during this questiong, they looked up your knowledge of the christian bible, and of luthers texts (btw, during large parts of its history, it was illegal to fail the test. that is failing it, led to punishment. sweden was just That Sort Of Shitty Religious Dictatorship - like Country historically),
(historical sweden had zero religious freedom. it was a very shitty country be a non christian in. both jewish people and saami people were pressured to convert to christianity in historical sweden. saami people were forced converted to christinaity, were the swedish church attempted to porpusely wipe out the saami peoples traditonal religion. jewish people were still forced converted to christianity until late 18th century, as an requirment for living in sweden. historical sweden, had the oppisite of religious freedom)
anyway,
during these obligatoric questioning, husförhör as they are called, measured if one could read or not! then they wrote this down in their books, which then were kept forever and ever, and now i can if i so feel for it, look up my own relatives reading skills anno 1755. if that is my desire in life.
anyway, analysis of the data shows that around 70-90% of the entire population could reading during the middle of the 18th century, and about 90% at the end of the 19th century.
BUT, just as you point out, writing was not a skill they required from people to the same degree, and there were no laws that forced people to be able to write (there was a law which fined people if there kids were unable to read before they were 10 years old. the law was declared in 1737. because sweden was just That Kind Of Country historically). But! it was noted that when general obligatoric school was started in sweden, in 1842, 90% of swedens population could already read. that is, the adults could read i assume, but also, older kids starting in school could too already read.
tldr. when kids started in school in sweden during this epoch, they would actually not have so much trouble with learning to read, because reading skill was a thing in sweden because of all the laws.
ps. i suspect, as another replier also pointed out, and you too, that the syllable thing is mostly swedish education jumping on trends that existed in european education without thinking of why. although, i am sure there are some benefits to learning syllabels when learning to read swedish. although, the only time i remeber syllables being mentioned today in school, was one learning verse methods in the illiad haha.
also as a side note, i thing that is confusion in all this data, and which i have no answer to, is which language the statics means that the population could read in. in the statics for 18th century sweden, modern day finland would have been included. and even though i know the language of administration was swedish in finland during this time, from my understanding in day to day people spoke finnish in finnish speaking areas. wherehas, i assume they the stats means that they could read finnish fluentely, in these statisics, but idk honestly. same thing, with speakers of the saami languages within the swedish kingdom of that epoch. something i do not know enough about, but something i should definitly look up!

March 14th
IT’S NEXT YEAR BAYBEEEE!!
Yeah, kinda forgot about this blog.
I have stuff to say BUT FIRST I GOTTA TALK ABOUT MY PROFILE PICTURE OR WHAT EVER YOU CALL THAT.
i did have red hair. At one point. Like a year ago. Then I shaved ALL OF IT and dyed it dark brown again. (That’s my natural hair.) Then I grew it (also I was kind of hate crimed at work every day BUT OH WELL TRANSPHOBES CAN JUST FUCK OFF  I DON’T EVEN CARE ANYMORE.) Okay then it grew like 2 inches and I bleached it (twice because my hair is naturally so dark lmao). And why did I bleach it? BECAUSE I WANTED TO DYE IT PURPLE! It was sort of pinkish purplish whatever. Then I was tired of that, I cut it again. (NO I DID NOT SHAVE IT THIS TIME.) I like shaved the sides and the back and like had longer parts like in the middle IDK YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. And I dyed it black. Then it just kept growing and faded to my natural dark brown and then I just had that style. I just cut it and it grew and I cut it. THEN DISTANCE LEARNING STARTED. AGAIN. This is actually what I wanted to talk about all along so let’s include that in the story.
Soo... Distance learning. My old.... Friend.... I really hated it the first time. That was like a year ago. I didn’t learn anything. My attention span is so small. I wasn’t able to focus because I had so much things around me. At one point I stopped even trying. I did get my usual grades tho but that was only because I had the internet and the textbooks on me so I was available to just check the answers from there. THE ONLY SUBJECT I DIDN’T CHEAT AT WAS SPANISH BECAUSE I LOVE SPANISH AND THE TEACHER ASKED SO NICELY!!! SHE’S AN AMAZING PERSON AND HONESTLY DESERVES EVERYTHING!!!!
Okay enough about my Spanish teacher. So again, I completely gave up on my education. I learned NOTHING. Not. A. Single. Thing. I had important courses but... NOPE.
TRIGGER WARNING: TALKING ABOUT DEPRE$$ION, DY!NG, SU!C!DE
Okay but it was hard for me because of other reasons too. I wasn’t able to see my friends, I wasn’t able to be social, I wasn’t able to go to school normally. So everything went so bad. I don’t understand how but for some reason the period of distance learning and social distancing really REALLY got me. It CRUSHED me. I was so, DEPRESSED, I could even say. Yes, I’m breaking out the D word.
Another tangent by the way. I’m really scared of using the D word because I don’t have depression but I still feel the symptoms of depression sometimes. (Like we all do.) Like I can’t be bothered to do anything, I’m not sad but just apathetic and unmotivated and literally can’t do anything. And just want to not be alive anymore. And that’s not sad to me. That’s feeling depressed. Or at least that’s what I could imagine. I don’t know. But I think we all have those rough patches in our lives, don’t we?
Anyway, I felt really, REALLY bad. Never felt that awful before. I’m so glad I have a dog because I went outside every day to walk him at least once. That was defo a life-saver. But like, I hated life so much. I wanted to be dead SO BAD. If there would have been a button that would have killed me if I pressed it, I would have. Several times. Oh I’m sorry this is getting really dark.
TRIGGER WARNING ENDS HERE. NO MORE SAD TALK FROM NOW ON EXCEPT FOR THE VERY NEXT SENTENCE. AND THE ONE AFTER THAT.
So a quick recap: I was having a bad time. A rough patch, if you will.
And now we get to the part that I actually wanted to talk about. Distance learning again!!! Soo my country decided to do it like this: one week of distance learning, after that one week of winter holidays, after that two weeks of distance learning. And I was mentally preparing for it. SO MUCH ACTUALLY. I knew that it went horribly last time because of all the distractions around me so this time I had a different mindset. I was here to learn!!!!!!!!!1 But it went like this:
Day 1: yeah, yeah, kinda learning. Math was hard tho. Also I had one (1) class normally so it was kinda cool to see all of my friendos. (Okay yes only 1 ((or actually 2)) classes are normally because we have this huge musical production coming up and we can’t really practice from home.)
Day 2: yeah, kinda boring, Swedish was SOO boring and I absolutely hadn’t done any homework so I didn’t even try to learn. (This is where it all went wrong.)
Day 3: yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely opened zoom at least twice. Was bored so I cut myself a mullet. I actually love it very much although the upper part of my hair is longer than like the back part of my hair so I’m kind of still growing a mullet but WHATEVS. OH AND MY BROTHER WANTED A MULLET TOO SO I ALSO CUT HIS HAIR.
Day 4: yeah, yeah, definitely woke up. Opened zoom every class. Ignored everything and played my guitar / watched twitch streams. SORRY TEACHERS.
Day 5: yeah, yeah... Okay, actually NO. NOPE, NOPE. I GOT NOTHING DONE. I GOT SO BORED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY I STARTED MAKING TIKTOKS AND I BAKED LITTLE WITTLE TEENY TINY CAKE BABIES. HATED THE WHOLE DAY. SPENT 10 HOURS ON MY PHONE.
After that was my winter holiday. Yay. Now it’s Sunday the 14th, last day of winter holiday but honestly I don’t really care because this doesn’t really feel that different from distance learning. I just have to pay a little less attention.
Oh dang sorry I got distracted and wanted to know how fast I type so I just did like a bunch of WPM tests. (89 in my native language and around 70 in English btw.)
Yeah okay so I think I’m finally getting to the end of this, this post wasn’t supposed to be as long as it is but OH WELL. Distance learning starts again tomorrow, I’m feeling just fine and I think I might have ADD or ADHD.
Before I go on another tangent,
HAVE A GREAT NIGHT!

All weird asks!! They're so good!
Sorry this is a bit late, babe! I wanted to wait til I had the opportunity to answer all these uninterrupted!
1. coffee mugs, teacups, wine glasses, water bottles, or soda cans?
Coffee mugs! tbh I drink tea out of coffee mugs because who actually uses teacups? I mean my grandma has tons and I would use them, but the handles are so tiny and I am v clumsy so it scares me.
2. chocolate bars or lollipops?
Chocolate bars!!! I’m too impatient for lollipops and plus they always get coated in saliva which just...drips down my chin since my mouth is already full.
3. bubblegum or cotton candy?
Bubblegum! I love cotton candy but I can only handle a bit at a time tbh. Also I haven’t had bubblegum in almost two years bc of braces and I miss it so much I can’t wait to have it again.
4. how did your elementary school teachers describe you?
Okay, so even though I’ve always been homeschooled, when I was in elementary school we did this program with a ton of other homeschoolers where you could take actual classes and stuff. My teachers always said I was quiet and focused and studious, and you could always count on me to be lecturing everyone else on the instructions if they hadn’t been paying attention. (does any of that surprise anyone?)
5. do you prefer to drink soda from soda cans, soda bottles, plastic cups or glass cups? GLASS SODA BOTTLES. nothing beats soda that’s been bottled in glass rather than plastic. You ever had orange cream soda from a glass bottle????? SLAPS ASS MY DUDE.

Pastel/boho/preppy/goth, my dude. I have so many sides to my fashion and aesthetic.
7. earbuds or headphones?
EARBUDS BC HEADPHONES NEVER FIT OVER MY EARS RIGHT. BUT EARBUDS WITH SOFT TIPS BECAUSE MY EARS ARE TOO SMALL FOR THE PLASTIC ONES.

Tv shows tbh because even though I can binge 4 eps of 45 minutes each per night, they’ll hold my attention a lot more than a movie. It’s weird.
9. favorite smell in the summer?
Thunderstorms/petrichor, also natural bogs. PEAT BOG SMELL FUCKING SLAPS.
10. game you were best at in p.e.?
None. I liked trampoline time back when we took gymnastics, if that counts. I also liked jump roping and Irish step dancing.

Nothing lmao. I sleep til like noon and then I microwave something for lunch.
12. name of your favorite playlist?

{hello! i apologize for the resubmits, but the forms i had sent in before are now out of date. sorry!} {KEY: any text that is in “{}" are notes by me. please REMOVE EVERYTHING IN ”{}“ before the critique is published! characters with an asterisk next to their first name (in the first mention of them only) is a trans* character} {ANOTHER THING–PLEASE READ THROUGH THE FORM AND OPEN UP SOME RELIABLE RESOURCES ON DENMARK & AUSTRALIA BEFORE DOING ANY CRITIQUING. THANK YOU!} {read though them} {Sveskena is not Swedish, by the way. if something is Sveskena, it is something that comes from Nya Sverige… the micronation, ofc. there are no other works concerning Sveskena stereotypes other than this.} {yes. there is barely a reason as to why each character has to keep up a human identity, why they can die, /why births are so damn complicated/, et cetera. but, you’re not here to harp on about that; you’re here to harp on about the characters. je, thank you again… ALTHOUGH, i will state that there are a few characters that make fake identification throughout the webcomic. a handful of characters get governmental-approved IDs, though it is very troubling. of course, almost every anthro will run when people start getting suspicious on how they never had aged. a few have been killed due to human’s suspicions, even.} {one last note: DO NOT call mirenaj ”APH“. ok, ‘cause, you know? different titles? hey hey hey, maybe they’re different?}
{___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________}
Fandom: Mirenaj {characters are anthropomorphisms, mainly based on SVESKENA stereotypes. "anthropomorphism” is nicknamed to “anthro” throughout this form.} Creation date: July, 2013 Time setting of character: January, 2014 Name: Merete Riber Nielsen {RIBER and NIELSEN are both last names} {due to that picking a given name for someone based on the name’s 'meaning’ is considered taboo in my nation, i will not even CONSIDER writing what the name MERETE 'means’. it is not worthwhile in the SLIGHTEST. RIBER means 'from Ribe’ (many Danish last names will work like that). Ribe is close to where merete was actually born & not where she currently claims to be from, and the oldest town in Denmark. NIELSEN is a patronymic, which is in relevance to her father’s name (nereiðr), which obviously had to be modernized, thus leading to NIELSEN… she simply refers to him as 'niels’ now, too (i find it plain in sight that whenever she had to talk about it, saying an Old Norse name would draw very much attention… so saying “why does she call him niels” will not do much good).} Other names: Móeiðr Nereiðardóttir (400 AD-1104 AD), Merete Riber Nielsdatter (1104 AD-1837 AD), Mette (nickname received from multiple people), Daisy (nickname received from Maja{ Marie Ludvigsen (Christiania)}), Marine Laura Fisker Sørensen (alias), Dana Smed Christensen (alias), rita Rømer Simonsen, Denmark, Den/Dan (nickname), Danmǫrk (400 AD-803 AD){“Denmark” in Old Norse}, Danmark (803 AD-present) {“Denmark” in Old East Norse dialect, Old Danish, to modern Danish} {currently, there are only aliases she has used since the 1840s.} Personality: She is a good listener and almost always tries to maintain a mature attitude. She easily becomes stressed, and usually smokes when under pressure. Around people she has known for a good while, she is quite outgoing and enjoys sharing her own opinions, though when first meeting anyone, she is rather reserved–it is easily mistaken as shyness. She will often aim to receive people’s approval, and hides the fact as well as she can, as the thought of someone finding out seems embarrassing to her. Other than smoking when stressed, another bad habit of hers is never looking people in the eyes when talking; even with the few people she feels most comfortable with, she will make no direct eye contact. {i know not looking people in the eye usually means that they have something to hide. it is meant to be like that, as it is a reference of her trying to hide what she has done in the past (such as her early viking years… as one of the most notable times she would prefer unsaid).} {i’m still working on this, too… ah, it seems so plain.} Appearance: She has shoulder-length, wavy dark blonde hair that is usually tied up in a high bun, and light blue eyes. Her skin is lightly tanned, and for the most part, rather clear{such as many other nations; along with being immortal, their average health is higher than normal humans, and they heal at a faster rate}. Her height is 170.18 cm, weighs 68 kg, and her body is rectangular-shaped. She is slim. She has two scars; one halfway across her right collarbone, another across her right knee. The scar on her knee is less visible than the one on her collarbone, due to it being not as deep and older. There is also a single brown mole on the inside of her left high thigh, and two more near her mid-spine on both sides of her back. She wears a white business shirt with the sleeves pushed up to her elbows, a light brown vest, light brown trousers (sometimes a brown, mid-thigh skirt), plain white ankle socks, and a pair of lace up, brown leather boots. Her scars are almost always covered up with makeup. {what the scars are from are still undecided, though it is unlikely for either of them to come from any blades.} Relatives: Nereiðr inn gamli/'Niels Riber Nielsen’{pretty much Denmark before the viking Era… he had lived through a bit of the viking Era, but after a while, he had died, due to someone else (merete) being in his place [as an anthro]. INN GAMLI is his byname (usually something not very kind, used only by others without the knowledge of whoever they were talking about… many people did not know of their byname. INN GAMLI means 'the old’, due to him looking older than of his claimed age.}{also, the full explanation of births in mirenaj is a little more lengthy, but in some cases, the new child will replace the anthro/one of the anthro parents} (father, deceased), Ásgauta Agnadóttir (human) (mother, deceased), Maja Marie Ludvigsen (daughter), Naaja Nanni Gertrud Fisker Nielsen (Greenland) ('adoptive daughter’{–nothing is official (due to the two having to keep up a human identity), though they state their relation as that to other anthros}), Ole Gustafsson (Skåne) (son {now in custody of helena Gustafsson (Sweden)}) Close friends: Cecilie Eriksen (Norway), Lydia Wright (Australia), Emily Johnson (USA) Enemies, strained relations, and rivals: Heinrich Eichel (Prussia) (enemies,{though there are occasional occurrences where the two are depicted as being friendly to one another}), Yasemin Değirmencioğlu (Turkey), Faris Dawud Muhammad (Syria) {the relations between yasemin & merete, and faris & merete have been rocky since the Muhammad cartoons crisis.} {there will probably be a few more people later on, because i haven’t made many Muslim anthros yet…} Other information:
• Speaks Danish and English fluently, along with a fair bit of German • Speaks with a light Danish accent {in reference to her want for people to approve/accept her… as she had eventually taught herself to lose most of her accent. it was originally based on the (possibly untrue) fact that a lot of young Danes don’t have much of an accent (ofc there is more of a story, ha), but i’d changed it a few months ago, because i wasn’t too sure on it… ah, i could of done way better on this, but i wanted to keep the voice i had for her originally had for her… as bad as that is for a character like this.} • Claims to be born on 5/6/1987 • Actual age is over 1, 600 years old {the date, month, and a defined year have not been sorted out yet, though it has a high chance of not being in relevance of any significant dates. ofc, most of the anthros wouldn’t be born exactly on a date that could be significant, anyway… especially one that hasn’t happened… it’s utterly illogical.} • Received the scar on her collarbone from the German Invasion of Denmark, which was during WWII (1940) {scar was personally given by christine Herz (Germany). uhh, in most ofmirenaj’s interpretations of wars/battles, when one gets a scar (from defeat, near defeat, the battle being tough in general, et cetera), it is from the anthros of the country(s) that their people were fighting against. in some cases it doesn’t go like that, but in most, it does.} • Received the scar on her knee from the Second Schleswig War (1846) {i’m not too sure if the scar should be from katja Fuchs (Austria) or heinrich Eichel, but it was from either of them.} {NEITHER of the scars were from a battlefield. idk if you noticed, but i hadn’t mentioned that either of the anthros had to be in their country’s armies, or anything like that, to of inflicted any pain or damage to the other anthro (in earlier times many wouldn’t of actually been allowed to join militaries, anyway).} • Openly pansexual and panromantic • Has a fear of doing something bad whilst drunk, or something bad happening to her whilst she is drunk {i haven’t yet figured out a reason for this, it once did have a reason, though… i had to change it though, because i got rid of the idea that there would be two anthros per nation. i’m not too sure if the original reason would even tie well with Denmark, as then i didn’t do that much research, so… uh, i’d prefer not to note any of my silly cutsey-Japanese-animation-chicks-that’s-all-we-need days…} • Has a fear of falling from high places {in reference to most of Denmark being flatland} • Is in contact with her children{not as personally with naaja, as naaja isn’t so fond of merete}, though never mentions anything about any of them being related unless asked by another anthro • Good at cycling • Enjoys watching soccer (and on the occasion, playing) • Often talks in her sleep • Likes reading, especially fairytales such as The Little Mermaid, The Troll’s Daughter, and Thumbelina • Trying to stop smoking, and is going OK • Her most recent job was a relief history teaching, though had quit about eight months ago • Lives in Copenhagen, alone (human AU; Sydney, along with Lydia, Maja, Anne{ Wright, Hutt River}, and Philip{ Wright, Wy}{lydia and merete are a married couple in the human AU. naaja had moved out and gone back to Greenland (where merete had adopted her) before lydia and merete had gotten married. aaaaaah, also… they had met and married in Denmark. gay marriage is still illegal in all states of in Australia…} {they’re a couple in the human AU due to the marriage of prince frederik and princess mary, by the way.}) • Lutheran Christian (religious beliefs)
Hey so.
I’m not removing your extremely rude notes to the mods like you asked me to at the beginning of the post. Instead, I’m critiquing how you submitted this.
any text that is in “{}" are notes by me. please REMOVE EVERYTHING IN ”{}“ before the critique is published!
A lot of the notes you have in this format are actually kind of relevant to people reading through your character info which is hard enough to follow as is. Not to mention the way it’s formatted is extremely hard to tell what to delete and what not to.
{one last note: DO NOT call mirenaj ”APH“. ok, ‘cause, you know? different titles? hey hey hey, maybe they’re different?}
This is a quick note that submitting things like this to critique blogs mean you’re not paying us to do this. This is a favor we do for you guys for free and to help you.
{ANOTHER THING–PLEASE READ THROUGH THE FORM AND OPEN UP SOME RELIABLE RESOURCES ON DENMARK & AUSTRALIA BEFORE DOING ANY CRITIQUING. THANK YOU!} {read though them}
So don’t be a dick about it. Don’t tell me what I CAN AND CANNOT talk about within my critique. Don’t limit me and force me to do research I already would have done if you hadn’t been such an ass about it.
Don’t tell me how to do my job--which I’m doing for you. AS. A. FAVOR.
YOU ARE NOT PAYING ME TO DO THIS. THIS IS NOT A JOB THAT YOU GET TO SET RULES FOR. YOU’RE NOT MY BOSS. Senpai mod DOES get paid to critique and edit writing for people who have published books. This isn’t my first rodeo.
{yes. there is barely a reason as to why each character has to keep up a human identity, why they can die, /why births are so damn complicated/, et cetera. but, you’re not here to harp on about that; you’re here to harp on about the characters. je, thank you again…
FOR REAL MY DUDE? The whole reason characters have to be critiqued is so that they fit within a world they exist in. Preemptively talking about my critique as if it’s “harping”. Then why the FUCK did you submit it in the first place?
{due to that picking a given name for someone based on the name’s 'meaning’ is considered taboo in my nation, i will not even CONSIDER writing what the name MERETE 'means’. it is not worthwhile in the SLIGHTEST.
I do not require you to do this. I don’t understand why you think you have to defend yourself that you don’t care about what a character’s name means. In all honesty, I don’t either unless it has a place within your canon that name meanings are important to the culture. You’re preoffended at something I would never even complain about.
So here’s the deal. I like these characters. In fact I’m very interested in them and I like a lot of what you’ve told me about them--I like it a lot. It’s super interesting.
HOWEVER. When you come into a situation being rude and unapproachable, entitled to my help as if you should be able to police the way I discuss your characters when you’re submitting them to me for me to discuss, I draw issue.
I don’t know if something’s lost in translation here, but this does not come across as if you want my help.
