Dark: Moon Knight#Moon Knight comics#latest release#Luminary#Marlene Alraune#Raul Bushman#get his REAR Marlene#I think what I like so much about this story is that it’s a bit of a reverse fridging#where it’s the boyfriend who dies early on and motivates the heroine’s journey into vigilantism and revenge#and even then this isn’t a true fridging as Marc’s loss is still distinctly felt after his passing#as opposed to being completely swept aside#and I think they quite adeptly side step the accusation of ‘oh of course Marc’s passing is being grieved in this story#because women are more emotional while a dude would have just moved along :////’#by alluding to Frenchie’s own grieving process#indicating that this is simply a story that takes a more human approach to how comic book characters might react#to losing a loved one#who’s not completely forgotten nor completely idolized (which I think is a role Gwen Stacey fell into a lot in 70’s-90’s Spider-Man comics)#but instead they wrestle with a complex individual’s legacy who could simultaneously inspire frustration and the desire to do great good
