" so, my current theory is that this guy just... pissed off back to ireland. " sanji sits against the wall, ankles crossed, immaculate shoe heels tilted and pressed against the tiles to lean his chair back. expert hands guide a pair of chopsticks through his dinner, noodles gathering delicate sips of ginger and scallion broth on the way upward. " i mean, he's got means, motive, aisling's been ruthless since november... maybe he chickened out? the real question is, what's he got to do with the crap that's been happening 'round here? "
tina's glare at the computer screen has eli wondering if he could just go with tim and fatin on their escapades. all the embassies in the world wouldn't frighten him nearly as much as tina does when people don't instantly see things the way she does. in fact, only for kie's recent attendance (this is the first time) he'd have left hours ago. " look. you're new here. so let me wrap it up nice and neat for ya. fiachra's attacked us twice a month ever since we moved here. he schedules it and toys with her in the meantime. since november, we should've had at least five visits. we've had none. "
" what's really bugging me, though... " victor casts a friendly glance at kie. no idea how she's still here when tina's voice could cut through steel. " that footage we had of him and mum on november second. he looked angry. like, properly angry. and she said something. god, what the hell was she saying... whatever it was, it scared him. and she looked confused, so... "
" we've got another month of footage to go through. either that, or we check out those addresses he had in new york. " eli draws in a deep breath through his nose, shoulders squared, wishing tina would be a few steps away so he could hear if she took offence at his different suggestions. " and considering the three of us are too close to mom to be objective, and sanji seems pretty committed to just keeping an eye on us... @freezegirl, what do you think we should do? "
OPTIONS ( link to a d20 here! only one option needs it though! ):
stay at home and watch the rest of the footage to see if fiachra appears again.
involve another member of the squad or family to try and get a fresh perspective.
everyone leaves to examine each of the houses one by one together as a group.
the group splits up into two groups to cover more ground. ( D12 charisma, bc persuading tina will be a challenge! )

The Wilds: Season 1 Rewatch

"We all know she can't survive the wilderness by herself, she can't even survive a Holiday Inn." — Leah Rilke
Personal Highlights of the Episode
The impersonations of Fatin by the girls.
Tumblr media
The sequence that flips back and forth with Fatin practicing the cello and partying. Two sides of the same coin, but 99% of people only judge her based on one side of her.
“I’m not fucking crazy!” I know most people either love/hate Leah, but jfc Sarah Pidgeon is an excellent actor and plays Leah’s moments to perfection, especially during her non-verbal scenes. The emotion she displays with just facial expressions is just fantastic.
Tumblr media
If you guys don’t know by now, I’m a Leatin whore (but like, even at a basic BFF level too. I’ll take any and all forms) so THE highlight is the makeup hug.
Tumblr media
Things I Didn't Catch the First Time
These girls just strolling through the woods with no means of protection. Dot should know better. Why haven’t they at least sharpened a tree branch or something? Even a blunt branch would be better than nothing.
Shelby and Toni catching eyes while they sit by the fire waiting for the water to boil and Martha counting. Then Shelby stealing a second glance back to Toni? The Shoni clues were subtle and built up perfectly throughout the season.
Observations / Theories / Questions
Everything during this episode just screams “Don’t underestimate Fatin.” Everyone at some point underestimates her and it blows up in their face. Fatin’s dad, the girls thinking Fatin wouldn’t rip her own pants, Leah in general, Gretchen, Dot/Shelby/Rachel when they immediately assume she was just painting her nails, and most likely the agent too (even though we don't see them interact with her much).
THEORY – Fatin’s interview reveals big ass information going forward, whether it be Nora’s fate or something they find out in season 2, which is why Fatin has the shortest interview out of all the girls. Most of the episodes have the girls talking to the agents sporadically throughout it, Fatin gets one sequence and it’s all about believing Leah’s theories. Then all three looking back and forth between each other? It’s weird as hell. And what do we learn this episode? Fatin is really good at reading people. Fatin, per her father, has no respect for authority figures. While I believe all the girls are skeptical of the agents, all of this leads me to believe Fatin will be the first one we see actually fight back against them during the interview.
THEORY – The agents and Gretchen will focus on Leah unraveling their experiment, but in reality, it’s going to be Fatin. She’s the only one that listened to Leah from start to finish (I think the other girls will get on board at some point in season 2) and she’ll be the one that silently questions things when Leah verbally brings it to attention. Fatin blows things up when she’s 100% certain and covers her ass in the process, whereas Leah reacts impulsively and it bites her in the ass most of the time. Therefore, Leah will react too soon, and Gretchen’s team will shut it down, BUT Fatin comes in to save the day when they make the same mistake everyone else does and underestimate her.
Tumblr media
Fatin is super critical of her mother (calling her Dragon woman), but immediately takes her side when shit goes down with her dad. We even see Fatin admit to Leah later in the season that she misses her mom. Her mom that we only ever see push her to be better. Fatin’s mom is probably the only person who has never underestimated her and knows exactly what she has the potential to be.
THEORY – Fatin is painted early on as Daddy’s Little Girl and even told by him that “You’re just like your dad, kid.” I think Fatin’s biggest fear is that she really is just like her father, even after telling him that they’re nothing alike. I think, while on the island, we will see Fatin transition into the person her mother has always seen in her: driven, passionate, strong, and successful. Fatin is not like her father; she will be exactly what we’ve seen her mother be pre-scandal. A powerful woman whose success is her own. This is also why I can’t see Fatin’s mom staying with her husband permanently. Everything we’ve seen of her screams that it’s out of character for her to stay with a man cheating on her.
Leah’s emotional distraught over Fatin being lost after dragging her every chance she got earlier. The voice crack when finding Fatin. Not criticizing Fatin for just painting her nails like Rachel, Shelby and Dot do. Where my Leatin stans at?
Tumblr media
Not that I’m experienced in any capacity when it comes to infidelity, but like, wouldn’t the smart move be to not have your tablet on full display in the kitchen when you’re receiving/sending nudes? You’re rich (or your wife is anyway), Mr. Jadmani, buy a damn burner phone or something.
“Stop fighting, you’ll see everything gets easier.” Hearing this after knowing what Martha’s backstory is… wow.
Tumblr media
It’s completely fucked that Fatin’s mom lost her listings because her husband cheated on her. Like what kind of logic is that bullshit? This asshole literally sitting right beside her putting the blame and consequence on HER. SHE won’t be able to show her face, dude, what the fuck about you? Society is fucked, man.
Alex is the only one on Gretchen’s team that I like.
THEORY – I think he’s the one that blows this whole operation open when the girls get rescued. He’s gonna be the one to side with them if/when it goes to court, even if it means incriminating himself. OR Gretchen is going to frame Alex for the death of Jeanette and he’ll go down for her murder. He obviously carries a lot of guilt over her death, and probably will accept his fate if it comes to that.
Why the hell we throwing a whole ass book into the fire when you should be tearing pages out to prolong the longevity of the fire?
Fatin’s social awareness is not talked about enough. She’s the only one that notices Leah’s in her head after finding Jeanette’s body missing, she notices Leah has separated herself from the group after finding Fatin and is the one that approaches Leah to make amends, she knows exactly what needs to be done to calm her mom down (lipstick), etc.
I think it’s a nice comparison to the flashbacks with her dad when Fatin is the one to initiate the making up with Leah. We see that Fatin makes ZERO effort to apologize to her parents about leaking the nudes, and I think both these scenes really cement the fact that Fatin won’t apologize for something she thinks is right. Her belief in her own ethics and morals will never be put on the back burner to make someone else feel better, but that doesn’t mean she won’t apologize when she knows she’s partially to blame or out of line.
Final thought – Fatin is underrated as hell, and the layers to her character are subtle enough that she really does appear basic to anyone who isn’t actively paying attention to her. She’s a very complex and well-written character. I have a hard time picking a favorite out of the girls, but Fatin is definitely up there.

Field Notes
Field Note #051—Fatin’s mom is one of the top real estate agents in the Bay Area. She sells big-ticket properties in San Francisco and the East Bay, and prides herself in hosting the best open-house events. One of her secrets is playing classical music at just the right volume to make the house feel classy yet cozy.
Field Note #052 – Cellists and other string performers can’t keep long nails because they interfere with technique.
Field Note #053 – Fatin only goes for college dudes. Her take on high school guys? They haven’t done enough living. If a guy doesn’t have a monthly car payment or do his own laundry, how can he be trusted in a hook-up context?
Field Note #061 – How each girl learned to swim: Martha took a class with her mom; Toni would sneak into her neighbor’s above-ground pool by night until she kind of just taught herself; Rachel and Nora had private lessons; Fatin’s grandparents had an infinity pool; Leah learned in Lake Tahoe at a family reunion; Dot went to the quarry; and Shelby’s dad threw her into the country club pool sink-or-swim style.
Field Note #062 – The waterfall is an especially good water source because the water is moving, decreasing the chances of bacteria.

i just saw that jamie asked the same as me lmao (great minds think alike)
so if you don't feel like writing the same tropes (but with leatin), im suggesting 63 & 70! :)
Rules: Send me two (2) tropes from this list + a ship and I’ll describe how I’d combine them in the same story.
Everybody Knows/Mistaken for Couple & Locked in a Room
“You know this is your fault, right?” Leah asked, sitting down on the other end of the bench.
Fatin flicked through her instagram. “Hm? How do you figure?”
“How do I—fuck you!” Leah said.
Chelsey still had not figured out how to post, huh? If Fatin saw another picture of avocado toast she was blocking a bitch.
The phone disappeared from her hands and Fatin looked up, glaring at Leah.
“Would you take a chill pill? Your boy Ian is coming in like, ten minutes. Stop acting like this is the end of the world.”
“Did you not notice where we are?” Leah asked. “They locked us in the costumes closet. The costumes closet.”
“I’m sorry, did you want an afternoon delight?” Fatin asked. “Because I’m a slut but I’m not desperate.”
“Fuck you,” Leah said. “I’m with someone anyway.”
“Ian,” Fatin rolled her eyes. “Yeah the whole world knows.”
“I’m not with Ian,” Leah said. “And clearly they don’t because they locked the two of us in here.”
“It’s a stupid high school prank, you need to get your claws off my back, girl.”
Fatin made a grab for the phone but Leah was stupidly tall and held it above her head.
“They think we’re dating because you’re constantly talking about my eyes during makeup. I have a boyfriend,” Leah said.
“Oh my god,” Fatin groaned. “I’m doing eye make up and your eyes are fucking captivating. What do you want—me to shut up? You’d get along great with my mom.”
“Let me make something perfectly clear: I wouldn’t fuck you if you and I were trapped on a desert island,” Leah said.
Fatin made a grab for her phone and this time Leah gave it back.
“Wow, this guy must have a giant dick for you to be this loyal,” Fatin said. She went back to instagram, untagging herself from some pictures at a party.
“Yeah, I’m not talking to you about this,” Leah spat.
Fatin: told you she had a boyfriend Dot: no dice? Fatin: better come get us :(
“Good, ‘cause I don’t want to hear about it,” Fatin said. “I guess I just—” She groaned and forced herself to meet Leah’s eyes. “I hope he treats you right or whatever.”
Leah blinked and fuck her eyes were—they really were a crazy blue.
Dot, punctual as all fuck, opened the door. “Sorry guys, Shelby and Toni aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed.”
“Yeah, whatever,” Leah pushed past her and Dot and Fatin stood back, watching her leave.
“I’m sorry,” Dot said.
Fatin sighed. “It’s whatever. I’ll get over it. I mean I won’t but—you know. Cie la vie.”
“Is that Russian?”
“Mandarin actually.”
Dot wrapped an arm around her shoulders. “Anyone would be so lucky.”
“But I just want her,” Fatin said.
Dot’s arm tightened. “Yeah. I know.”

I binged The Wilds because of your posts and now I'm empty, that ending was a set-up for a second season and it's kind of a bummer we may have to wait a whole year or expect for it to be cancelled but, what were your thoughts on the series? Who was your favorite character? What was your favorite scene? I don't know, I always look forward to whatever you have to say!
Yeah, gonna have to wait for a while...but I wonder if it helps that it was shot in NZ, which is honestly such a covid haven at the moment (knock on wood)? Maybe they still have to do the same tests and safety measures as other sets, I don’t know. But I’d also think being so outdoors for much of the story can only help. Too bad a bunch of the rest of the story is now in small dungeon-like rooms. :x
I...thought it was a pretty engrossing watch, if you could get past some stuff (the YA vibes, how dark and traumatic some of the stories were). You know I’m always about character and this delivered that in spades.
Favorite character? Martha’s mom. Not even joking, heh, she just radiated so much love for her daughter and compassion in general. But obviously you mean favorite island girl...I have such a hard time picking, I like different things about everyone, it’s so hard to pick just one and makes me feel disloyal, but I in this case, overall, I would say Fatin just brought me so much joy in general. But then I’m like, well, Dot, and then I can’t leave out Martha, and then it just continues from one to the next, like, I haven’t mentioned Toni or Shelby yet but of course I liked them too! I liked everyone, except I’m not sure I’ve entirely forgiven [the second mole]. It is hard to forgive someone who saw EVERYTHING they suffered, day in and day out, the food-poisoning, Fatin seemingly missing, people just starving and traumatized even without all that, and didn’t just end it.
And thank you! Thanks for letting me talk about it. :)

Tumblr media
Personal Highlights of the Episode
Dot jamming to Fallen Angel. Don't lie — this is all of us when we think we're alone. I will admit to taking it a step further and performing a whole concert with choreography when I take a shower.
Tumblr media
Leah during the storm... honestly, everyone during the storm just sitting in misery with no intention of trying to find cover or collect water, except for Dot.
Tumblr media
Shelby taking offense to the whole "mall person" label. Honey, it's cause you are a mall person.
Things I Didn't Catch the First Time
Dot wearing a hospital bracelet during the interview. Are all the girls wearing those?
I never saw the fly go into Shelby's mouth. I always thought that she was choking on something from the alcove that she was inside of.
The motorcycle in the garage while Dot's doing laundry. I can 100% see her rolling up to a place on that bike (with one of those old-school helmets too) while smoking a cigarette. Badass. (Also, if she wants to roll Gretchen over with it, I wouldn't be opposed.)
Dot's dad's honorable discharge certificate from the U.S. Army hanging on the wall.
Observations / Theories / Questions
I think the girls have these agents played. Dot being that apprehensive and casual with the agents in the beginning? Not buying it. That's not our Dot.
Dot ordered french fries, 2 bagels, 2 subs, a sandwich, fried chicken, chicken wings, chips, 12 sushi rolls, 2 milkshakes (or just milk?), some kind of fruity drink and candy bars for her interview. You go, girl. Make those agents pay. Literally and figuratively.
Do we know what happened with Dot's mom? Did she die? Did she just up and leave? Until told otherwise, my headcannon is that Dot's dad was discharged from the Army and had a hard time re-acclimating to normal life either from PTSD, trouble getting/keeping a job, etc. and Dot's mom left him. Dot doesn't talk about her mom, so I think she left very early in Dot's youth and she just doesn't remember her anymore.
Dot selling drugs to pay for the medicine that her dad needs and can actually take without having bad side effects. Selling drugs is bad, kids, but Dot should be nominated for "Daughter of the Year" imo
Nobody remembers getting to shore, except for Nora when Leah questions what they recall from the crash. This may have been the first hint towards Nora being the other confederate.
Some of Jeff's annotations in Leah's copy of the book — "My grandfather grew up in Cheyenne. His favorite expression was 'Ain't that a pisser.'" ... "I would watch a snowy television (?) with you and be perfectly content." ... "Dear Leah, I dreamed about you last night. You wore a dress like this only it was red and you were also wearing roller(?). A person only gets a handful of perfect dreams in one's life. For me, this was one." ... "Shetland ponies forever."
Toni ranting and Fatin not caring in the slightest, then Fatin questioning Toni's sign and Toni raging will always make me laugh.
Tumblr media
Does anyone know if they wrote Toni to not shave or if it was something Erana decided to do for Toni's character? It varies throughout the season (sometimes she shaves, most of the time she doesn't) and honestly, I love it. It just feels authentic to Toni.
Dot's itinerary only has three days planned out. So, all these girls (barring Fatin, I think she knew it would be longer from her dad's slipup?) were under the assumption that it was going to be a weekend getaway. I'm surprised no one else has friends questioning their whereabouts like Ian did with Leah.
I have the hardest time gauging timelines with shows that are based in the south or in warm climates. Like, my mind works this way: spring — warmish and rain; summer = shorts and hot af; fall = boots and jackets; winter = snow. Then, I remember Dot is in Texas, everything gets fucked up, and I give up on figuring out how long her flashback spans. Northeast problems. Sorry.
Dads teasing their daughters about boys crushing on them is always cute to me. Probably cause #NeverHappenedToMe
If a rattlesnake was that close to me, I'd have already fucking died. Hell to the no. Last summer, I saw a garter snake (it was already dead) and screamed for a solid two minutes. Speaking of — why did they not eat the snake?
Rachel not grabbing the suitcase that was in the plane wreckage? WTF was even in it to keep it sunken like that? Also, how did the plane even get there? Did Gretchen's people fly it over and drop it in? Was it already there, and they found it while scouting deserted islands for the experiment?
Dot not admitting she saw Andrew cheating on Shelby, but also telling her she deserves better is one of those moments that we see Dot forgo her usual bluntness and spare feelings.
I relate so hard to Dot awkwardly and uncomfortably accepting comfort or giving it.
Tumblr media
Gretchen implies that Milestone #8 is the girls finding/opening the black box to see the plane crash recording. Anyone have ideas on what the other milestones were?
Gretchen was fired "last fall," so the whole experiment from start to currently has been less than a year.
Shelby coming in clutch. She saw Dot's hesitance to say what she thought they should do with the black box and swooped in to make sure that Dot didn't have to carry the weight of that decision by herself. Then, Dot's sigh of relief. Ughhhh. Shelby and Dot rival Fatin and Dot as my BROTP.
Would people losing consciousness during a plane crash be a normal thing?
You cannot tell me that Leah and Fatin's interaction while packing up the suitcase was not like, lowkey flirting. Before Fatin fucks it up ofc by admitting she read Jeff's annotations. If you can tell me otherwise, don't. Let me live in my Leatin daydreams, please.
"Between you and the book, I get the sense this guy likes recent vintage." YES, Fatin. Call out Jeff on his perv-ness. He's a fucking creep.
The whole scene of Dot and her dad's last moments wrecks me. Jesus, and the song? End me.
Dot is the only one from the group of girls to have met Gretchen in person, correct? Aside from Nora, of course. The ending scene of this episode when I first saw it had me convinced that Dot was the other confederate.
Field Notes
Field Note #025 – Of course Dot would know the lyrics to Poison’s “Fallen Angel”… and just about every other metal hit out there. She inherited her love for hard rock from her father, a real metalhead. One night when she was 11, Dot stayed up late rocking out to a compilation her dad had made especially for her. The next morning, she had her first “bangover” – that’s metalhead slang for the headache you get after a night of serious handbanging.
Field Note #026 — Dot is collecting rainfall, a good source of drinking water if you're stranded in the wilderness. Consuming rainwater is safer than consuming water from a lake or river, but experts still recommend that you filter and boil the rain before drinking it. Let's hope Dot knows that.
Dot is one of those annoying people who doesn't get brain freeze. She discovered this superpower in elementary school, and more than once has won money by challenging dudes to milkshake-drinking contests.
Tumblr media
Field Note #028 – Welcome to Fort Travis High School, approximately 2,900 students enrolled. Something to note: Dot, Shelby, Toni, and Martha attend public schools, whereas Leah, Fatin, Nora, and Rachel attend private schools. An even fifty-fifty split, representing both sides of the educational divide.
Field Note #029 – Dot’s on a budget, so when it comes to hair dye, it’s DIY all the way. Lately she’s been using washable markers, which she steals from the art room at school. It’s a messy process but they get the job done.
Field Note #031 – Shelby’s family is suuuuuper into pranks. (Like you should probably check the toilet for Saran Wrap if you piss at the Goodkind household.) It’s an eat-or-be-eaten environment over there, so yeah… Shelby’s gotten pretty good at pulling off stunts of her own.
Field Note #032 – If you take a close look at the Dawn of Even itinerary, you’ll notice the times are listed in military time. Which, for a teen girls’ retreat, is… weird. Military time, or the 24-hour clock, is usually used in situations where confusing AM and PM could have severe consequences, or when you don’t have reliable visual access to the sun.
Field Note #034 – Fatin didn’t have to read Jeff’s book for school because she decided against taking Contemporary American Lit, an elective she likes to call “Boring Bearded White Dudes 101.”
