I’m so violent in my support of shoujo and josei manga even tho I collect manga from other demos too is because the average manga fan seems unaware of how easily they repeat the rhetoric that things marketed towards/written by/“for” men are inherently the more realistic, better written, more diverse (genre and theme wise) pieces of any given medium than that written by/“for” women. Like the amount of times I’m talking to people who like x shounen or seinen series so I recommend a similar one that happens to be shoujo or josei and they just go “oh no I can only read stories with deep characters/stories that have actual plot not that fluffy girly stuff!” and it hurts me so I have to be the annoying one at any given moment.
