The fic I’m working on is To Partake and it IS a Rings of Power specific portrayal of Gil-Galad, Elrond, and Celebrimbor. (And very spicy. It’s just Porn with Plot lmao). There’s also a lot of Durin and Disa :) and Elrond interacting with their kids because I’m personally victimized we didn’t get that in the show.

It parallels show events up until Ep 5, and then deviates heavily, but you don’t need to have watched the show to read the fic. Events are mentioned and do drive the story along in terms of where characters are shuffling around and in some choices they make, but the events are mentioned and I feel pretty well explained. There are a few people reading who haven’t seen (or even dislike) the show who are reading it and enjoying it! 💕

It’s an Elrond-centered fic because I always write Elrond-centered fics (and the occasional Russingon content), but Gil-Galad IS a MC. He’s an asshole though, sorry! But that goes along the lines of the prev. post about being a bad dom though. He’s an antagonist, but not a villain. I didn’t want to assassinate his character but I really felt like if he and Elrond were a ship in Rings of Power, they’d be toxic as hell (I mean I always waffle between OTP and Toxic for Gilrond. The power dynamic and age difference, if we’re being honest, is incredibly unhealthy.)

Brimby though seemed really nice to me and also super careful about Elrond’s hero worship.

There aren’t that many Gil-Galad smut scenes since it’s Elrond centric and I’m giving them both time apart to try to mend the relationship. Right now there are two Gil/Elrond/Brimby scenes (ch 1, 2) and then a third later on that’s just Elrond/Gil.

But there might be more later if Gil can get his shit together and stop treating Elrond like garbage! Again he’s not….he’s not irredeemable in the fic. I’m trying very hard to portray a person, not a villain. But he IS being a horrible dom and a dick rn, lol. Brimby is doing his best to knock some sense into him!

1. Puzzleshipping (YuGiOh!)- To anyone outside the fandom, it may not make sense, and when I was originally in the Yugioh fandom circa 2006 it didn't make sense to me either. It confused the hell out of me because I was a baby ace ignorant of anything other than what media spoonfed me. But I did value their relationship deeply and knew they did love each other to come capacity. It wasn't until I finally got to watch the subtitled version as an adult that it clicked. It's so very special to me because even though I had preferred the platonic version of it as a kid, it's still incredibly nostalgic for me and it came back into my life at a time when I needed it 

1. Ozbert (Pandora Hearts) - Controversial, I know, (It used to be the most popular ship in the fandom) and I have not engaged with this ship in some years since it got in the line of sight for a lot of antis. I actually left a Pandora Hearts discord server over the harassment I saw. But again, I am asexual and aromatic, and this relationship was the first slash ship I got heavily into when I was a teenager. It's got tons of nuance and angst, and as someone who has read a lot of period fiction and is very aware of what was socially acceptable at the time, I view this completely differently from a modern-day setting. My enjoyment of this ship has morphed and is actually not romantic now, but it's on this list for leaving an impact on me. For those who balk at the idea that Oz is 15 and Gilbert is 24 for the main story arc, keep in mind that due to plot reasons, this is a very specific scenario, with supernatural elements and actual time travel involved. In the beginning, Gil is 14 and Oz is 15. So this is someone who had a childhood crush, clung to that love for ten years, but now his crush is back and hasn't aged a day. For me, it's exploring the complexity of that, and it's tragic. Gilbert is such a wonderful character, and any way you look at his feelings, you just know that even if it's not romantic, he and Oz are family.

3. VaNoe (The Case Study of Vanitas) - Same author as Pandora Hearts, and I just know she is going to hurt me again. And I will thank her. We have a reversal of the usual dynamic seen with vampire series. This time, it's the sweet naiive cinnamon roll Vampire, and edgy dark Human with a mysterious past and a broken moral compass. They are foils for each other and have so much chemistry it just works so well! At first, Noe does not like Vanitas at all and wants nothing to do with him, this draws Vanitas to him because he enjoys bothering people who catch his fancy and hate him. Then while his affections are on another, Noe learns more about him and he becomes very attached to Vanitas. Realizing now he has actually made emotional connections, it's clear that Vanitas is now afraid and is pushing them away. There's a push and pull here, and I'm both apprehensive and excited to see where their journey takes them. Even though we know it's going to end badly, based on the first chapter. I'm here for how much Noe has learned about his strange partner, to the point of figuring out a way to speak Vanitas' love language. Also, they both have no flipping clue what Love is, and the entire scene that unfolds during is gold. Vanitas is the kind of character who has never been treated gently by anyone, so I enjoy seeing depictions of him getting that from Noe, because it catches him completely off guard.

4. SidLink (Legend of Zelda) - This one is casual, because I actually have not played Breath of the Wild (I fully intend to though!!) but fandom content of this ship sucked me in. I found one fanfiction that was so incredibly sweet, and fell down a rabbit hole with that writer’s works and have fond memories of reading it. I will definitely have the ship goggles on once I play, I adore Sidon as a character, and I don’t know, giant peppy shark man and tiny human...what is there not to love? 

5. SoRiku (Kingdom Hearts) - Another more recent ship, as I was not in the Kingdom Hearts fandom in its heyday. I did not have access to the games, but saw plenty of fandom content of it and honestly, it was always a place of nostalgia even before I watched the Let’s Plays that were online. I’m so glad I did, and many others who adore this ship have laid out all the reasons why better than I could. I just haven’t explored it for myself outside of canon as much as I would like to, but I love it for the same reasons I love the other ships on this list. I guess that says a lot about me because all of these ships but ONE are riddled with Angst. What can I say...I like my Hurt/Comfort fics. I also enjoy seeing them in AUs where they get to live in better timelines. It’s a sort of Catharsis. Now, since the games are still going, where their relationship ends up in canon remains to be seen. I hope it ends well!

6. Natsume x Tanuma (Natsume Yuujin Chou) - It’s so stinking sweet and I’m so soft for it! This series is actually my favorite, and I have revisited so many times for the atmosphere and combination of supernatural horror and slice of life. Natsume lives between worlds, he did not make connections with people because he faced ridicule and was unwanted (he scared people) and he hated Yokai because they interfered with his daily life to the point he did not fit in with humans. He could not share what he saw and suffered. As the series goes on he is able to make connections with both human and Yokai and one of the first people he opened up to about seeing them was Tanuma. Tanuma has some level of spiritual power that allows him to see phantom shadows, so his awareness of Yokai is such that he immediately accepts Natsume and wants to help him. He’s pushing through that wall Natsume has spent most of his life building. Even though he can’t see them and may put himself in danger, he wants to be there for his friend. They share secret knowing glances and smiles, and gradually Natsume is more and more accepting of his help, and opening up to him. Such as being able to admit he can’t see the fireworks at the festival because a giant yokai is in the way, and Tanuma smiles and offers to find a new viewing spot. This series is in a Shojo magazine and the manga-ka chose to make her protagonist male so that she wouldn’t be forced to write a romance. As a result, the girls he interacts with are friendly, but definitely don’t have a lot of romantic potential. Natsume is still way closer to Tanuma than anyone else, even with Taki hanging around. I feel like he and Taki have a friendship, but it ends there as she had never suffered the hardship the boys have. She’s just more likely to team up with Tanuma as a Protection Squad to intervene in the dangers Natsume faces.

So even though I haven’t been posting as much, I’ve still been watching quite a few dramas.  To be honest, I think I might have burnt out on binging. When every other day is spent watching a drama for long periods of time, it kind of becomes monotonous.  That’s probably the quarantine talking though.

Finished since my last drama update

Psychopath Diary - Love, love, love.  What a fun drama to watch.  The characters were so beyond dumb but that was the joke.  Yoon Shi Yoon and Park Sung Hoon had amazing chemistry and their serial killer/amnesiac-confused-wannabe-killer-but-not-really romance was hilarious to watch.

Hot Stove League - Loved this drama.  Didn’t really go in expecting much but was pleasantly surprised.  It’s written in a way where even if you’re not into baseball, it’s still interesting.  More than a sports drama, it’s an underdog/rag tag team kind of story.  Each week it was fun to see how Nam Goong Min would outmaneuver the bad guys with his brains.  There was no romance (even though they totally could have!) but still enjoyable.  Nam Goong Min continues his streak of picking good projects.

Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 1/2 - I finished both seasons and I’m not entirely sure why lol.  This drama was nice enough and had some cute moments but didn’t leave much of an impression otherwise.  But somehow there was also something about it that compelled me to keep watching until I finished.  I guess that’s why both seasons had such high ratings.  If I had to pick which series to recommend, I’d probably pick the first season.  If you hate annoying hospital politics and unrealistic violations of proper medical procedures, stay away.  

Live Up to Your Name - Very cute and romantic with a side of sageuk.  Kim Nam Gil is hot.  Kim Ah Joong is hot.  Together they save people and have hot make outs.  I think this was the drama that kind of lightened up Kim Nam Gil’s image.  Before that he specialized in angsty characters who were usually set on revenge and/or died.  I kind of wish he’d go back to those roles from time to time.  Haha, predictable, I know.

Tell Me What You Saw - Watched this solely for Jang Hyuk.  It’s the first serial killer/procedural I’ve watch from OCN but from what I can tell, it follows the usual pattern of other OCN dramas of the like.  I’d describe this drama as just fine.  If gory scenes aren’t your thing, probably stay away from this drama.  Some of the murders in this drama were truly disturbing.

Hyena - First drama I ever recapped.  I was interested in this drama purely because of the Ju Ji Hoon/Kim Hye Soo pairing and I was not disappointed by their chemistry.  The story could have been improved and I would have liked more time spent on the relationship but overall, the flaws were not enough to detract from the good.  I need JJH and KHS to do a romantic drama on a cable network like TVN so we can get all the makeouts we deserve.  If you’re looking for a fast-paced fun drama and don’t care too much for plot, this is worth a watch.  Some people may find Geum Ja incredibly unlikable in the first four episodes but it gets better after that I promise!

Story of Minglan - Omg, where do I even begin about how good this drama is?  This was actually my second time watching this drama.  I think I finished all 73 episodes in 4-5 days (kids, don’t try this at home).  I can go on and on gushing about this drama.  Actually, I think I might have to do a separate post to properly talk about how much I loved this drama.  Anyway, if you like strong and smart heroines, period dramas, fully-fleshed out characters, and an otp completely devoted to each other with brains and brawn, this is for you.  It’s 73 episodes at 45 minutes each but I swear it still doesn’t feel like enough.

99.9 keiji senmon bengoshi - my first jdrama in yeaaaaaars and probably a decade since I’ve seen one starring matsujun. Fun, easy to watch, legal procedural with matsujun playing against type as a oddball attorney. Also, reunion of matsujun and eikura nana who last starred together in a movie about twins falling in love (wow the early 2000s were a wild time). I think I finished this in two days. If Japanese humor or recurring wacky side characters/gags isn’t your thing, probably skip this.

Dropped

Diary of a Prosecutor - This was fine but a bit too slice of life for my current tastes.  If humorous slice of life without much drama is your kind of thing, I’d recommend this.

Meow the Secret Boy - Dropped after episode 10.  Yes, I know what you’re thinking.  Why not just finish watching the last two episodes?  I didn’t drop this drama because I disliked it or anything.  I just felt like I didn’t need to continue watching.  When I first heard about the premise it squicked me out to be honest.  Cat?  As lover? Buh? I had no intentions of watching but then gifs for the first episode looked promising so I ended up watching it after all.  And it was cute and fluffy, with a touch of magical whimsy, which was what I needed at the time.  But as the episodes continued, it really didn’t go anywhere.  The characters were one-dimensional and story was as paint-by-the-numbers as you can get.  I hear that the webtoon it was based on was even less developed which...I don’t know how that could be possible.  Anyway, I peeked at the last 10 minutes of the final episode and well, that ending was a choice hahaha.  Still, I think this drama is harmless and dumb fun.  It’s not something you should take too seriously.  I mean, the cat literally turns into Kim Myungsoo.  

World of the Married - Oh boy.  Wow.  This drama.  Another drama I initially had no interest in after I read about the premise.  Another dark drama about cheating and divorce?  No thank you.  The world is grim enough as it is right now.  But then I saw posts about the drama on tumblr and it looked more makjang than grim.  Hey, sometimes makjang can be really fun to watch.  And the ratings were pretty high so I thought, there must be something entertaining about it?  So I watched the first 3 episodes fully and I admit, it was pretty addicting if not infuriating.  After episode 3, they really ramped up the infuriating parts of the cheating husband and his mistress so I watched a lot of episodes 4-7 on fast forward.  The over the top makjang was indeed fun.  But then it was at episode 7 that I realized the female lead was kind of a terrible character too.  She was just as obsessed with the husband as he was with her.  I read up on Doctor Foster, which is what the drama is based on, and seems like the husband and wife are just going to continue being terrible to each other.  Watch two terrible people obsessively try to ruin each other’s lives?  No thank you, I’ll save myself the heartburn.  It doesn’t help that every other post about this drama seems to be people being pissed at the characters hahaha.

Good Casting - I’m going to have to quit this after 4 episodes.  I tried since it seemed like a fun premise but I just couldn’t.  This is the third drama with Choi Kang Hee that I’ve had to quit and I think I just can’t gel with her acting style.  I know the tone is supposed to be hokey/comedic and they’re supposed to be bumbling on purpose.  However, my problem is that they’re just really, really, bad spies even when I think they’re not supposed to be.

Currently Watching

Ever Night - I have the last 11 episodes to finish and I’m kind of sad about it.  I know there’s a second season but it just doesn’t seem like the same drama.

When My Love Blooms - A lovely drama about second chance at love with the always great Lee Bo Young and my hot tall ahjussi crush Yoo Ji Tae.  It feels kind of like an old school jdrama in how quiet it is.  Might be too slow for some people though.  I can’t believe I dropped one drama about adultery just to unknowingly pick up another one hahaha.

Six Flying Dragons - I haven’t started yet but I will definitely start it soon!  Bang Won came to me in my dream so I think it’s time I finally watched this drama after putting it off for so long.

Will Probably Binge Later

The King: Eternal Monarch - Although I like the week to week excitement of watching an airing drama, I think I will probably enjoy this best by binging it.  People seem pretty divided about this drama but you know what?  Lee Min Ho’s hotness helped me make it through The Heirs so I have faith that it will help get me through this as well.  Some dramas you watch just so you can stare at hot people doing romantic things, ok?

Born Again -  The plot seems pretty convoluted so I think this will benefit from binging and fast forwarding.  @dangermousie seems to be enjoying it and our tastes align for the most part.  Plus, have you seen how hot Jang Ki Yong looks?  Unless the ending is completely horrible, I’ll probably binge this once it’s done.

The Untamed - I mean, gay epic wuxia love?  Count me in!  I’m trying to limit the number of dramas I watch so this will have to wait until I at least finish Ever Night.  

LFRP - Levenin Refure (Crystal DC)

Levenin Refure is an astrologian-in-training, and both a student of the Athenaeum Astrologicum and a freelancer in service to House Roxienne of Ishgard. POTENTIAL HOOKS

ASTROMANCY: Levenin hasn’t encountered too many other astrologians who aren't native Ishgardians (or the rare Sharlayan) during his travels. He’s always happy to meet a fellow star reader, especially if they're an outsider to the art like he is. For anyone seeking to know their futures, Lev can do readings for them (to various degrees of accuracy), as well as tracking via the stars. If your character is looking for something (an item, a person, love, fortune, etc.), they might find him useful. He also doubles as a medic.

TRAVEL: Lev used to essentially live on the road, usually making temporary homes in the comfort of an inn or a campsite. Even now, he has no permanent home. However, he could probably be convinced to take a job outside of the city, as it's how he makes that extra few gil to survive. Bonus points if there’s a reason for him to leave Aldenard altogether, especially since he’s never been out Far East, and he'd have interest in visiting the land of his heritage.

WORK: Does your character have a job for him? Healing? Fortune telling? Pretending he’s your boyfriend so your family will stop asking you when you’re going to settle down? Lev can be convinced into doing damn near anything, so long as the gil is worth it. A man has to eat, after all. Lev has little spine and an empty wallet, so all manner of shenanigans is fair game, especially if it's something he can write about for his employer.

MYSTERY: Lev has had issues with insomnia, weird dreams, and sleepwalking ever since he was small. The dreams in particular seem prophetic at times, and are usually littered with elemental symbolism and unpleasant imagery. Though he doesn’t spend every moment dwelling on it, Lev has a feeling there might be something there he just doesn’t understand quite yet. Perhaps a higher calling....

Not that he thought much that way after meeting Evie, but he did know that a lot of the AK's assumed that all of those on the Isle were morally bankrupt. Hell, he'd been one of them, at first. “Harry and Gil couldn't keep a secret if their lives depended on it, naturally, but I still wouldn't lie to them. And I know that when it comes down to it, if anyone is perfect for those idiots, it's each other. But they're still my idiots.” “Well, let me get this straight, then.” Doug finally piped up, leaning forward again to rest his elbows on the table, hands clasped up by his lips until he spoke again, pointing towards Uma but not at her, “You want to be in an open relationship with Evie and I, but also Harry and Gil,” Uma gave a curt nod, but let him finish, “But that means that you can come and go as you please?” “Exactly.” Had Gil been present at the little cafe they had chosen for this particularly interesting lunch date, he would have blurted something about Uma's fear of commitment. Which she didn't have. Commitment was her favorite thing in the world, right up there with Bilge Balls and doing dishes. “And what if one of us wants you when you don't want to be tied down?” The question was so far out of left field both Evie and Uma blinked several times and turned to slowly, fully face him. Uma's lips parted as if she might say something, and then closed, following that pattern three or four times before Evie cleared her throat. “I don't think her boys are like that.” She interjected, licking her rose red lips, “Most Isle kids don't get--” “Clingy.” Uma supplied, “I... Don't know how to answer that. I'm...” Scared of commitment, “Not exactly used to being in high demand when I don't want to be.” “So what do you do with Harry and Gil?” Doug asked, curious instead of interrogating, but it didn't stop Uma's defenses from rising around her like a physical wall. “If I want their attention, I seek them out. If I don't, I don't.” Her curt answer was punctuated by an uncomfortably harsh glare, and she tipped her head down to stare up her nose at him, “If you don't want to do this--” “No, it's not that!” Doug cut her off suddenly, leaving her balking at him as he stood, his chair knocked to the cobblestone street and both hands held out. The rest of the patrons of the cafe had turned to look, only adding to the sheepish smile on his face as he righted his chair and sat back down. “S-sorry.” Taking his own deep, calming breath, he finally closed his eyes, rubbing them behind his glasses. “I just... Don't understand, I guess. How you could want to be with someone, but then just... Not. I think I always want to be around Evie.” “And Harry and Gil are attached at the everything.” Uma shrugged slightly, placing both hands tented on her knee, “I'm sure you've seen cats, haven't you?” They had those both on and off the Isle, she knew that much. “Yeah, of course.” “Think of it like that. I'm very capable of...” She had to take a second to say the word, rushing it to push past the rising bile in her stomach at the mere thought, “Love. But I don't think it's prudent to only share it with one person, or to share it all the time. As such, I like to spread it to certain people, those that I find an actual attraction to.” Her eyes flitted to Evie, whose eyes gave a knowing twinkle, and her gentle, gracious smile spoke volumes to her knowledge of the subject, “I don't know you half as well as I know Evie, which isn't a lot in the first place, but... I'd be willing to give it a chance. You never know if you don't try.” Plus, Harry was already driving her insane with how clingy he'd become since Gil and Jay had decided to go on some giant gap year road trip. The biggest problem Uma had with it was that if Gil attempted college after that gap year, he'd be lucky to remember basic math. That and the fact that they wouldn't just let Harry tag along for the sake of his (and her) sanity. “You have a point.” Doug conceded, and he finally rested his nose against the top of his clasped hands and huffed. “I mean... I can't really say it's not appealing. You're both...” His eyes scanned Evie in his peripherals and then took in Uma with a soft sigh, “Wow. I can't believe either of you would--” “I'm going to stop you there, Doug.” Uma held up her hands in a defenseless position, shaking her head, “You have no reason to question it, neither of us would waste our time if we weren't interested.” “What she means is,” Evie jumped in, eyes a little wide as she took both of Doug's hands in hers and kissed his knuckles, “We wouldn't be having this conversation if she weren't invested. Uma doesn't throw her heart around for no reason.” Doug seemed a little more pliable with that, and he nodded carefully. The tense line of his shoulders melted away and Uma couldn't help but chuckle. “Too blunt?” “You still need to work on your people skills.” Evie replied with a playful roll of her eyes and an accompanying bright smile, “So, what do you say, honey pot?” Turning those beautiful doe eyes on Doug, she brushed his knuckles again with her thumb, and he seemed to melt just that much more. “Well... If my True Love is a VK, who's to say that I couldn't have another one?” Uma looked like she might bolt at the idea, but through some miracle managed to stay seated. She smiled, strained and anxious, but nodded a little bit, taking his acquiescence with as much grace as she could muster. “Alright, then we'll try it. But I do want you to try.” “Try what?” Uma's eyes narrowed and she was back to leaning back, arms crossed, guarded. “If we ask you to join us, and you don't already have plans with Harry and Gil, then I want you to try. You might find out you like it.” Prying one hand free of Evie's death grip, he held it palm-up on the table, waiting patiently,  “I'm trying something I'm uncomfortable with, too. It's only fair that we're both clueless about some parts of this.” Considering it for what felt like a thousand eons, Uma stared at his hand like it just might bite her, before slowly snaking her own delicate hand into his. The handshake was firm, which surprised her, but she had to admit she was intrigued. “Alright.” She finally sighed, “But there's one other ground rule.” “And what's that?” Doug asked, skeptical of whatever it was she was about to lay down. Some kind of clause to let her slip out like a thief in the night for no reason? “I don't bottom.” Red from his chest to his ears, Doug choked on air at the admission, lurching forward as he coughed and Evie dutifully rubbed his back with a little tinkle of a laugh. Uma's domineering smirk would follow him into his dreams; Or maybe his nightmares? He wasn't sure. “Don't worry. If you aren't into it, either, I know someone we have in common who is.” She winked playfully at Evie, whose quick glance away spoke volumes accompanied by her silence, “It's Harry and I's deal, too, no penetration on each other. I can work with that.” Though she couldn't deny the sudden urge to see how Doug would handle being taken apart with pleasure. He had plenty of hair to tug on, at least. “We'll-- We'll have to, uh--” Doug sputtered, unable to meet either woman's eyes as he gulped, finally just hiding his face in his hands. “Uma, we haven't... Done that, yet.” Evie offered gently, feeling her cheeks flushing as a positively evil grin bloomed on Uma's lips. “Well, we'll have to work on that, then, won't we?” She questioned, leaning back more comfortably, now, reaching forward to take her little plate laden with chocolate covered strawberries to place on her own lap. “I'm sure I could figure out a good way to introduce you to it.” Her eyes were on Doug when she said it, “Don't worry. You're in good hands.” Doug wasn't so sure he was, if only because he suddenly felt even more out of his element. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ AN: Welp, there we go! I've been wanting to write something like this for a while, now, and like... I think I'm actually pretty happy with how this came out. It's kind of cute, and honestly, I love these babies. This won't be the only fic with Uma flitting around from ship to ship, by the way. I have... So many desires for her to be with everyone ever, so we'll see where this goes from here.

@ar-se-ne: IDEK how long I’ve been following Cristian, but he’s a really nice guy with whom I have similar interests. He’s also someone that I’ve kind of of been inspired by in some ways. I don’t want to get too personal information, but it involves introspection and self improvement and yeah. I’m proud of him. He should be proud of himself.

@chujo-hime: I remember like circa 2012-2013 I had a ~moment~ because the webmaster of FYBN followed me. Chujo always has quality content, and is someone I respect for being very genuine and respectful. If something’s drawn her ire or made her bitter, she has a reason for it, and can write a solid meta on why it’s bullshit. At the same time, she’s someone who I’ve looked to when I consider how to handle my own fandom disagreements. It’s not worth arguing with people on the internet, it’s never fun. So long as people enjoy what they enjoy? Stay in their lane and let others do the same? We can all get along~~~

@cimikat: Katie is another person who I don’t even remember following. I can’t really remember my tumblr experience before her, though? I can say without any hyperbole though that she’s probably the nicest person I’ve ever encountered on this website? Literally, I can’t think of a single time I’ve seen her be salty. Upset and disappointed, sure, but she doesn’t wallow in negativity the way some people do and have in the past. If she enjoys something, she’s enthusiastic about it. If she no longer enjoys it? You won’t see her b*tch about it. She’s just very upbeat.

@dazzledfirestar: Daz shares my love of certain villains (Sin and Crossbones) while fully recognizing they’re deplorable human beings. That’s just one of the more superficial reasons I respect her. She’s another person who’s also genuine, and whom by following I feel like I’ve actually learned a lot? And I actually like to learn. Ignorance isn’t always mean spirited, and in the past I’ll admit I’ve been an ignorant white boy. Not that I was prejudice, there was just a lot I was either blind to or unaware of.  I’ve learned a lot about Romani culture by following Daz. A lot of history, a lot about the struggles and persecution they still face to this day. I also learned lot about the LGBT community; which honestly was a big help when I was trying to figure out/accept my bisexuality.

@diaryofawriter: What do I even say about you? believe we met because we both RP’d in the same fandoms and enjoyed the same content. Comics, OUAT, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. She’s both listened to me flail or rant countless times, either feigning or expressing genuine interest… for that I’m truly appreciative. She’s also helped me when it comes to letting go of things that are no longer fun or enjoyable for me (OUAT) and focus on the things that do bring me joy. A role model in that sense. >.>

@diisnerd: Leah. Leah was someone I met though a mutual friend, and while they’re closer than I am with her… I let me just say I have so much fucking respect for Leah. She’s just a good, loyal, protective, and caring friend. We have a lot of the same interests, too. We don’t talk all that often about them, but when we do it’s always an enjoyable conversation.

@ilikethequiet: Ally was one of the first people I met in the OUAT fandom, via a mutual friend/aquiantence. She’s a wizard when it comes to making edits and graphics. She’s someone with whom I’ve been salty on many an occasion, and I lured her into the iZombie fandom with me when our favorite actors transitioned over to that show. She’s just a delight. She also somehow made an AU graphic for a trashy ~problematic~ hateship look classy? Real friends hunt down topless screencaps so they can make you smutty collages for your birthday.

@jjoelswatch: Sarah is one of the first people I can remember following on tumblr. She’s another person where I wouldn’t recognize my dash without her. I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but I really respect her. She’s just a good person, very down to Earth and very witty. We don’t talk that much, but it’s always very pleasant when we do? Sarah was the first one to reach out and respond when I came out as bi. I’m still not out to my family. When I posted that little confession, I didn’t know what to expect. I simultaneously cared and didn’t care how people responded. It was weird, because it was something I had tried to deny and rationalize for so long. It’s something that no one should even care about, but Sarah empathized and realized it was kind of a big deal for me? Her reassurance that I wasn’t alone, even in such a short and concise message meant a lot. She’s one of my favorite mutals tbh.

@kennyhoemega: Bethany is a Goth Goddess. I’m not just saying that because she demanded the best compliment. On a superficial level, she’s just really pretty?? Now that’s out of the way, let me tell you legitimate reasons why she’s one of my favorite people to follow. She’s got great taste in music, she loves Star Wars, dabbles in Marvel and Harry Potter. You see a theme here with people I follow. She just also tends to reblog really neat things unrelated to those? I’ve gotten into astrology because of her. It’s mostly her fault that I’ve started watching wrestling again, bc there’s nothing good on TV and her passion is contagious and the gifs she reblogs are wild. She also has the best tags out of anyone I follow, bar none. I don’t even know when I first followed her either, around 2012 or so, but I know that it was absolutely 100% Sarah’s fault. Thank you, Sarah. TBH the first time I remember interacting with Bethany was when I added a gif and sarcastic comment to one of her salty posts about people trying to woobify Brock Rumlow. The next day, I realized this was likely not the best way to make a first impression? Fortunately she assured me that she got it, and that we were cool. Which is a relief, because as I’ve told her (and IDK if she believes me) she’s probably one of the coolest people I follow? It’s come to light that neither of us are big talkers, so we don’t actually talk that much… but she’s really rad. IDK when it started but she’s consistently been in my tumblr crushes for ages. Lots of mutual reblogging, again, lots of respect. She’s witty and intelligent. That’s not butt-kissin’, I’ve seen her post about certain tests and looked them up out of curiosity and wow. Yeah. Bethany also has the longest compliment, so that should make her happy. There was something about my needing a nuclear bunker if she wasn’t on this list. She deserves it though, she’s another one of my faves.

@kittenspawn: Nichole is my unofficial big sister. I say that as someone who actually has a big sister. She messaged me in 2012 with questions about Bucky and Natasha, and from that point on she was screwed. She got me into Hellboy in turn, but I like to think I’ve thoroughly corrupted her and caused her to spend far too much money on certain things. Nichole is someone who I can go weeks without talking to, and yet we can fall right back into conversation as if we talked the night before. She’s been a terrible enabler over the years, but she’s also been there for me during some difficult times and when I’ve done very stupid and questionable things. I know she’ll say I’ve been there for her as well, but the scales are seriously tipped here. When I need advice, or when I need to talk to someone about something serious… she’s the person I go to. I can always count on her, and she’s pretty much family at this point.

@ohmygil: Gil. I think I found you through Davis? You’re just a very sensible person, and very rational about a lot of things. It’s refreshing to see that on the internet these days. You’re someone who I don’t think I’ve ever had a actual ‘discussion’ with, but I’m including you here because I really enjoy your presence on my dash. I stopped reading DC regularly with the New 52, and pretty much all my DC intake these days is absorbed through your blog. You also get points for liking Superman. Some people think he’s too powerful, or a big boy scout, and while I’ve never regularly collected his titles I am a fan.

How much needs to be said? Seven years ago you met a bitter teenage douchebag on a message board. You made the mistake of accepting his friendship when he reached out to you. You’ve stuck with me through highs and lows, man. It’s one of those relationships again, where we may not talk every day. We may not be up to date on the details and goings on in each other’s lives… but you said it yourself. Our friendship has been one of the best constants in the past seven years. A third of your life, btw. Isn’t that depressing? You are, truly, the best friend I have ever had. One day I’m going to meet you, hug you, and then insult you to your face. You’re truly a brother to me. I love you.

Stef is another person who I try to model myself after when it comes to shipping things. Re: Multi-Shipping. Stef ships Steve and Bucky. I do not. Stef also ships Bucky and Natasha. Stef respects canon and appreciates Sharon Carter. All this may sound inane but I’m glad I didn’t meet Stef until I did, because 2013 Tim might have been a little asshole re his ships and missed out befriending a great person because of his own stubborness… that could cross into douchebaggery. Stef has quality content on her blog at all times. Sebastian Stan. Marvel. Star Wars. Mark Hamill.. Harry Potter. Tron. Just general film. Chicken nuggets. Stef is a quality person with a quality blog.

@rocktheholygrail: Dana is someone I met through the iZombie fandom, and she is another wizard. A gif wizard, who has too often indulged my requests or suggestions. She’s another person whose enthusiasm is contagious. I was able to convince her to watch the entirety of Prison Break (save the revival) in less than a month before it was taken off Netflix. I don’t think I ever apologized for that. Dana also is trash tho, bc like me, her favorite iZombie character is the trashiest. I say that tongue in cheek, at least the first part. It’s really been great though to have someone who recognize a character as both human and horrible, and who is capable of watching and enjoying them despite their being problematic. If this was another fandom, I’d expect to be judged or ostracized, but instead I’m enabled once again.

@swanmagic: Gia is another person who doesn’t post on tumblr much (at least her personal) these days, but I’m including her because she’s been one of my favorite RP partners for years and we still talk from time to time on twitter. She’s just a great writer, great person, great friend. She’s another person who has excellent (and varied) musical taste.

@thealbooty: I met Alberto through Davis. It’s another thing where I don’t remember the circumstances, there was just one day where suddenly Alberto was in my life. Alberto is just a good guy… and I just mean good. He’s pure. If Davis is Spongebob, I’m Squidward and Alberto is Patrick. Only not as dumb. We don’t talk as much these days which makes me sad, but I love him too. Back in the day the three of us used to have group Skype chats and watch movies together. There was one day when Davis couldn’t make it or wasn’t online, and he and I just watched Hellboy and chatted for a few hours. That’s when Alberto went from being a friend of a friend to my friend. I’m glad he’s my friend.

@thejazzdalek: Max is another person, like Gil, who I’ve never really had a discussion with? He’s followed me for ages though, both on tumblr and on twitter and I appreciate that. I don’t really know him that well after all this time, embarrassingly. He seems like a nice guy, though. Big into Doctor Who, OUAT, DC, Marvel, just sci-fi and fantasy in general.

@timelessmulder: Emily-Alice is someone who I’ve been mutuals with since like 2012 I think. I don’t even know if we’re in the same fandoms anymore, but we keep following each other regardless. @uminoko: We’ve been mutuals for like years, and she’s just a nice person? Again, that’s a pathetic compliment, but it is true. She’s also another individual who I feel I’ve learned from by following? Part of that has to due with her being a former civil rights lawyer, but beyond that she’s just yet another smarty pants who I don’t talk to that much. She also  messaged me privately when I came out, and made me laugh when I needed it. Also, she’s an actual Russian who is a fan of Black Widow and Winter Soldier.

@uncleclustersthirdbrain: Donnie. This might be a little weird, because Donnie and I only reconnected like two weeks ago after three years of not really talking to each other? Again, there’s no bad blood, and he deserves to be on here. I’ve actually known him for five years, we met through his girlfriend Morgan. Donnie’s another person who has seen things, re seen me at my worst. Most obnoxious, outspoken, salty, dickish… and so on. I’ve always sort of looked up to him, though? Back when 17 going on 18 year old Tim met him, there was a sort of ‘notice me sempai’ thing going on. He’s yet another person who is too cool for me. In spite of toolish tendencies, there were times when Donnie reached out to make sure I was okay when I was being dramatic and having anxiety attacks over damn comic books. It sounds ridiculous, and it was, but at the time comics were my escape and how I dealt with a lot of tough shit I was going through. I was invested. Heavily invested, to an unhealthy degree. He’s just a good person who cares about his friends, and people in general. He’s also a fucking brilliant writer, who just recently put out his first comic. So I’m going to use this as another excuse to pimp it for him. Not because he’s my friend, but because I’m a selfish bastard who wants to read more and wants you to give him money so he can make more. He makes no personal profit from it, all the money goes towards paying his artists and the production. I’ve pretty much walked away from buying monthly comics, but as I’ve told Donnie, this is one I would pull. The first issue of And The Hare had some of the best dialogue I’ve read in a comic in easily the last year. At least.

@xeleyan-tequila: I met Chelsea through the OUAT fandom, and like me she gave up on the show a long time ago. She’s another person I don’t really talk to that much these days, but she’s a lovely person with a lovely blog who posts a little bit of everything. There are personal details to our relationship I won’t get into bc it’s no one’s business, and though we’re still friendly we sort of fell out of touch. I enjoy following her though, and she’s a wonderful human being.

Character Interview

What did you have for breakfast?

“Ummm, is it bad of me to admit I didn’t exactly… have breakfast this morning? I know, I know— Madame Roxienne scolds me too… But uhh, usually if I remember… it’s something simple, what the Ishgardians like to eat. Eggs in the basket, I think is what they called it? If I’m traveling then something warm to drink. Rice and grilled fish, if I’m lucky.”

What can you cook perfectly?

“Oh, I’ve never been a good cook… Or a decent one. I guess I can make grains and noodles? All you really need for those is boiling water and maybe a base to make soup… And tea, but that’s the same thing, really.”

If you could choose a pet, what would it be?

“I already have one!! Err, two as of recently. Charlotte, my tarantula— she’s around here somewhere… And Onion, a paissa who is a… handful, to put it lightly. Sometimes I have dreams where he talks to me but they seem so real. He says very unkind things…”

How is your relationship with your parents?

“I… prefer not to say. It’s… complicated.”

What is your favorite read?

“I don’t really have a single book I like. I guess I read nonfiction the most. Lots of historical texts and theories. Star maps and predictions and journals… Tarot, though I don’t know if that counts. Anything will keep my attention, honestly. Reading is a good way for me to forget about things so I do it a lot.”

Do you put both socks on first, or one sock, one shoe?

“Umm, I’d say both socks first? Though if I’m in a rush, sometimes I don’t put socks at all and… I’m sorry.”

Do you fold your clothes before bed?

“I think sometimes I’m lucky to NOT sleep in my work clothes. I get so exhausted that I think about changing and then just fall asleep instead… But on the rare occasions I do, then yeah, they at least get folded.”

How do you feel about marriage?

“Is it silly to say I’ve dreamt about it more than once? Maybe more about the ceremony itself than anything… A really romantic notion. It’s not necessary, especially if my partner didn’t want one. It’s just fun to imagine… belonging to someone fully and having everyone know you were theirs… Ummm, sorry. I’m rambling.”

Who was the last person you crushed on?

“The last one? See, uhh, I can’t really remember. It’s been a while… and it was probably short lived and… unrequited.”

What does your dream home look like? And where would it be?

“Somewhere in the countryside. I wouldn’t mind going back to my father’s original home, but my heart calls out to Vylbrand sometimes. Open fields, open skies, the smell of the ocean and the wind blowing freely. And then I’d come home to a small cottage at the end of the day, with a fire roaring and the sound of rain to gently put me to sleep… Ahhh, I’m sorry!! I keep rambling again.”

What’s your worst habit?

“…Worst? I have a lot of those— Uhh!! I mean, not a lot, just a few. B-But they’re only terrible for me and not other people! Well, mostly… I’m just… gonna stop there…”

What do you do for a living and how do you feel about your job?

“A student, you could say. I spend much of my time reading and writing. But for gil? I still travel and do freelance jobs, usually because Madame Roxienne wants me to find out something for her. It can literally be anything but it’s usually more reports, more writing… My wrist hurts more than it used to. But I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn. It’s nice… when someone takes a chance on you.”
