Senegal Stuns Brazil 4-2 in Friendly with Sadio Mane's Heroic Brace

In a surprising turn of events, Senegal rallied back to shock Brazil with a 4-2 victory in a friendly match held in Lisbon on Tuesday. This marks the third loss in the last four matches for the five-time world champions. Brazil initially took the lead in the first half when Lucas Paqueta found the back of the net. They appeared to have been awarded a penalty after Vinicius Jr. was fouled inside the box, but the decision was overturned by VAR due to an offside in the buildup.

Seizing the opportunity, Senegal capitalized on their first chance as Habib Diallo smashed the ball into the net with a powerful volley after Brazil failed to clear a cross, leveling the score in the 22nd minute. Senegal's confidence soared, and they quickly took control of the match in the second half. Within three minutes, defender Marquinhos inadvertently deflected Ismaiia Sarr's header into his own goal, and Sadio Mane followed up with a brilliant curling strike from just inside the box, finding the far top corner. Marquinhos redeemed himself by scoring Brazil's second goal from a loose ball inside the box, but Senegal maintained their composure. They extended their lead when Mane converted a penalty after Nicolas Jackson was fouled by Brazil goalkeeper Ederson inside the box. The defeat serves as another setback for Brazil, who currently have Ramon Menezes, the Under-20 manager, serving as the caretaker coach. The Brazilian FA (CBF) continues to pursue Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti as a potential candidate for the coaching position, which has been vacant since Tite's resignation following their World Cup quarter-final exit in December.
